they are 12 there is still only one of you and three of them you can t do anything, that is the sad
reality. When he was 12, he watched Royce Gracie fight in UFC 1 and decided to dedicate his life

History And Function Of Foreign Affairs
The History and Function of Miniseries of Foreign Affairs
The practice of what we call diplomacy did not always exist in the way we know it today. In its
place entities, which can be loosely defined as States, employed rudimentary lines of
communication between one another dating back to 15th centenary. It was an arduous task to have
open and responsive lines of communication between these states, however, given the close
proximity of Italian city states and their need for open channels of communication made Italy
uniquely opportune for the development and maturation of diplomacy. After years of practicing
what was called continuous negotiation or nГ©gociation continuelle the French created what is
presumed to be the first foreign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
9). MFAs are then responsible for advising on the policies they should be required to implement,
issuing the appropriate instructions, and ensuring that they are carries out (Berridge 2010 pg. 10).
Part of the responsibility is the analysis of the information that missions send home. There is the
primary function of MFAs to coordinate foreign relations. Lastly, MFAs are charged with
overseeing interaction with foreign diplomats at home. Berridge begins his book with what is
essentially a fundamental background on the evolution the MFA as an institution and how most
function today. While some might consider this information mundane or inconsequential to the
goal of discussing diplomacy at length, Berridge touches on these subjects because diplomacy, like
everything, is not static. Therefore, diplomacy is both effected by its own history and by the
administrative mechanism found within; a simplistic but critical point to make.
Negotiation
Negotiation is the most frequently used tool in diplomacy and, as Berridge points out, starts well
before any representatives sit down at a table (Berridge 2010 pg. 27). There is a pre negotiation
phase of arrangements that must be made beforehand in order to get all of the appropriate parties
of a conflict to participate.

Research Paper On The Tajiks Of Afghanistan
The Tajiks of Afghanistan
The country of Afghanistan has gone through decades of war but still has much history to it, such
as the many different ethnic tribes it has. Afghanistan holds many ethnic tribes including Pashtuns,
Tajiks, Hazaras, Turkmen, and many other minorities. After the Pashtuns, The Tajiks hold up 27%
of the population but their way of life, their history, and their unique food makes them very different
from the rest of Afghanistan.
Afghans of Tajik ethnicity usually reside in the northeast and west of Afghanistan as well as being
Persian speaking Sunni Muslims. Because of their Muslim faith, most of the the Tajiks traditions
and customs come from or are influenced by the Muslim world. For example, afghans greet

F. Scott Fitzgerald s Eyes Annabel
In 1915 a fourteen year old girl received a letter from her nineteen year old brother. The girl s
name was Annabelle and her brother s F. Scott Fitzgerald. In Fitzgerald s eyes Annabel was a bit
socially inept, and his opening words to her were merciless, You are as you know, not a good
conversationalist and you might very naturally ask, What do boys like to talk about? Boys like to
talk about themselves much more than girls... (Fitzgerald qtd in F. Scott Fitzgerald289) Fitzgerald
then continued on with possible opening lines: How about giving me that sporty necktie when
you re through with it ; and topics to avoid, Don t talk about school . He told her to focus on
dress and poise A good smile and one that could be assumed at, is an absolute necessity . He
counsels her to Learn to be worldly. Remember in all society nine girls out of ten marry for
money and nine men out of ten are fools . And if ten pages of criticisms and unwelcome
recommendations weren t enough, he threatened to send more, I ll discuss dancing in a later
letter . A few years later Fitzgerald scribbled Basis of Bernice on the heading of the letter s first
page. These letters became the basis of the ten thousand word story, Bernice Bobs Her Hair , he
drafted in 1919. Fitzgerald sent his story to numerous magazines yet was met with even more

History Of The San Francisco Earthquake
The San Francisco earthquake was the first time man had ever seen the most disaster city of the
state of California had ever seen. Most people think that it took hours and hours but it took a
minute. But no one would ever know. And now the greatest disaster ever. But it took so many lives
though.
You might wondering how earthquakes happen. An earthquakeis when the rocks break apart and
slide by each other. If the world didn t move and rotate earthquakes wouldn t happen. The falt is
where the rock is going to break. The falt line is we can kind of can tell where the earthquakes
are going to happen but we don t know where. When the rocks breaks radiation and energy come

Why Should We Adopt An English Name
At the start of class, the first item on the to do checklist of an instructor is to obtain an overall sum
of who is present and who isn t. A share of those names are Asian Americans who will have an
English name prearranged or will request a nickname that they favor, which will undoubtedly be an
English name in several circumstances. Once questioned as to why the individual has/prefers an
English name the answer is typically their authentic name is too challenging to pronounce.
However, many will offer to study the individual s real Asian name if they desire to use it, yet these
students still resist and wish to occupy an English name, even when the name is considerably
simplistic to recall nevertheless they refuse to adopt it! Consequently, this further proposes that
there are additional explanations beyond the pronunciation concerns. Pressure to conform and
assimilate to Western like standards is a common setback for the majority of Asian Americans to
date. English is deemed as the languageof corporate professionalism; countless Asian American
people assume that occupying an English name will permit them to be additionally prosperous in
today s economy. The United Statessociety is furthermore significantly considered to be admirable

Physiology Of Exercise And Human Performance
William L. Easter
Lab # 3 Predicting Maximal Oxygen Uptake
30 October 2014
KINE 3153: Physiology of Exercise and Human Performance
Dr. Murat Karabulat
INTRODUCTION: The energy to perform exercise for periods of more than 10 minutes comes
mainly from aerobic metabolism (1). VO2max is a reproducible measure of an individual s
cardiovascular system s ability to deliver the required oxygenated blood to a large muscle mass
involved in exercise (1). The determination of an individual s VO2max is commonly used to assess
levels of physical fitness, as well as develop and monitor training programs for athletes. The
submaximal tests have an error of plus or minus 10% which makes them invalid for the purpose
of long term training studies. For clinical screening purposes the use of submaximal prediction
tests is a viable option. There are three main advantages to using submaximal testing. Submaximal
testing does not take and individual to his or her maximal limits, which greatly reduces the chance
of a cardiovascular accident, especially in older subjects. In addition expensive laboratory
equipment is not needed, and more subjects can be screened in a given period of time.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this laboratory #3 it to acquaint the class with different methods to
estimate VO2max, and to see how these predictions compare to VO2max values acquired during
Lab #2. Laboratory #2 was canceled due to inoperative equipment, so those comparisons cannot be
made.

Theme Of Cruelty Towards Children In The Poem The Chimney...

William Blake makes use of various literary techniques to portray the theme of cruelty towards
children. The poem Holy Thursday refers to the wretched condition of children in charity
schools. The poem The Chimney Sweeper refers to the poor children who were used as slaves in
England. My aim for this essay is to explore how William Blakemade use of various literary
techniques to portray the theme of cruelty towards children in the two poems.
The title Holy Thursday alludes to joy and purity. Yet this poem highlights the cruelty towards
children in charity schools. Blake makes use of this contrast to emphasize on the subject of the

Indeed the parents leave their child alone in poor and wrenched conditions to furthermore pray for
the well being of their family. This irony portrays the cruelty towards children in the poem.
The poet effectively makes use of different metaphors to portray cruelty towards children in the
poem. Clothes of death is a metaphor for the chimney sweepers uniform. The boy feels the injustice
that he has to sweep chimneys as a child. The noun death might allude to the harsh working
conditions that the child has to face. The latter hence might describe his work as a deadly task. This
metaphor hence, greatly contribute to the portrayal of children ill treatment in this poem.
The metaphor sing the notes of woe describe the child s despair as he begs lamentably the people
passing by to offer him a job that he hates. The noun woe moreover highlights the desperate state of
mind of the child and furthermore portray the frustration of the child as he is cruelly dominated by
his parents. Finally the metaphor make up a heaven of our misery might be a mouthpiece of Blake
as he accuses the Charity schools, the other social institutions and the society to treat children as

One third of the GDP comes from opium trade which fell to a low with the past drought but the

of past figures resulting from the drought and the impact of international assistance. The country

country s import totals to around $1.1 billion which clearly shows that they spend more than they

Sam offers it to him with various servings and locations but the narrator does not budge and

The Doctrine Of Reformed Theology
Reformed Theology in Missions
The argument can and should be made that all Reformed doctrines are important for the sake and
cause of missions, but for this paper a few have been selected to highlight their particular
significance in their role in world wide missions. These doctrines have often not received proper
importance in missions because of a general preoccupation or focus on certain Reformed teachings
that seem to dominate most people s view of reformed theology. In fact, they have received very
little thought in comparison to those that are concerned with soteriology in missions. Reformed
missions, however, emphasis and esteems doctrines that have in the past been successful and need
to be applied to missions in the church today ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, together with the preaching on the fall of man and his sinfulness, naturally leads to preaching
the gospel. Missions will only be successful if Jesus Christ is the theme in gospel preaching.
The centrality of Christ and the importance of this is evident in Calvin s Institutes. It is there that
McNeill writes, It is important to realize that the focal point of the Institutes is not found in God s
sovereignty, or in predestination, or in insistence on obedience to God s Word itself, apart from
constant reference to Jesus Christ, whom the written Word makes known. Paul writes to the
Corinthians, For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him
crucified. as seen in I Corinthians 2:2. In its missionary task the church needs to reemphasize the
centrality and significance of Jesus Christ. As Paul says in I Corinthians 3, it is not Apollos or he
that was important; it is the foundation that he (Paul) laid: Jesus Christ.
Even though you would think it impossible, some do not present the message of the gospel, the
death of Jesus Christ for men separated from God through sin, in such a manner that Christ is seen
and heard as the Scriptures speak of Him. There is a great need to recover this correct and Bible
presentation of the gospel before we take men away from Christ. The great truths of the

Evaluation Of The Doctor Patient Relationship
A patient entrusts a level of responsibility to his or her primary doctor when seeking treatment. In
order for the doctor to diagnose and treat any ailments he discovers, a voluntary power dynamic
must be formed between the doctor and the patient. Through this power contract, the patient
consents to any prescriptions, treatments, or diagnostic procedures that the doctor orders, and in
return the primary physicianis expected to give the optimal level of care. An analysis of the doctor
patient relationshipshows that the doctor holds the majority of power in the dynamic through the
combined means of force and solidarity while the patient can counteract this majority through
money and setting the agenda. The doctor patient relationship can first be explained through Steven
Lukes s three dimensions of power. The first dimensionis the most clearly in favor for the doctor,
involving a focus on behavior in making of decisions on issues over which there is an observable
conflict of interest (Alexander 2012:559). This is seen when the doctor is given the responsibility
of diagnosing the patient, for the patient cannot objectively diagnose himself. The patient gives the
doctor the power to determine what illness is affecting him and to prescribe treatments for this
illness.
The third dimension of power comes as a supplement to the first dimension. Jeffrey Alexander
describes Lukes s third dimension of power as hidden social powers [that] ensure that a particular

Maybe In Another Universe, I Deserve You
Gaby Dunn
What if, in another universe, I deserve you?
Hear me out. There s this philosopher from the 1890s named William James, and he coined this
theory about the multiverse which suggests that a hypothetical set of multiple universes comprises
everything that can possibly exist simultaneously.
Are you following? The entirety of space, time, matter and energy is all happening at once in
different timelines: It s the idea of parallel universes. Right? So okay, let s presume the multiverseis
real.
Well then, maybe somewhere in those infinite universes is one, or several, where I deserve you.

A Research Career As An Experimental Physical Chemist
My desire is to continue a research career as an experimental physical chemist. I am grateful that I
have found my passion that I found early in life and have been supported by my family and
society. My educational experiences in Korea and the U.S. have demonstrated to me that the social
support and infrastructure are immensely important for individuals to live out their passion,
especially in the STEM field. As a female physical chemist who pursues an academic research, I
will strive to contribute to making an inclusive and supportive scientific community.
Basic scientific research was not an obvious career path for me as a student who went to a public
girl s high school in Korea. The belief that girls are not apt for challenges in male dominant STEM
careers discourage women participation, and many women struggle with social barriers to continue
careers in the physical sciences or engineering. Like most of the high school students, I had to
choose either the science/math concentrated or the humanities/social science concentrated
curriculum, and I was among twenty percent of the girls in my high school who chose the former.
The common perception that there are no ample research funding, job opportunities, and a bright
future for those who pursue basic science, makes pure scientific research an unpopular path. With
was lucky that I could pay attention to what resonated with me and decided to study chemistry.

Greek letter organization was created in 1776 as a way for students to meet with each other and
discuss current events and literature. From there on, more of these groups were started at schools
around the country. It was rare to have women be appointed into one of these because of their
lesser social status. It was not until almost 100 years later that a women s organization was
founded. Because of their rich history, fraternities are more dominate than sororities and much
more well off. In America, there is a large history of women being devalued and

How Does Chaucer Use Humor In The Millers Tale
While you would be hard pressed to deny/ignore the heavily present humor in the Miller s Tale,
which earns it the title of a fabliau, it is also equally critical to consider the ways in which Chaucer
contradicts these humorous moments with bouts of seriousness. Even though it is often difficult to
discern between what is light hearted and fun compared to what is meaningful and moral telling in
the Miller s Tale, identifying these moments of jest and ernest along with their distinct purposes can
help further readers understanding of what Chaucer might have intended as the overall take away
of the tale. Both moments of humor and seriousness, although contradictory, work together to
highlight and draw attention to instances of significance, which suggest small moral lessons. By
examining the most prominent moments of humor and seriousness and trying to identify the
specific moral or reason for creating that situation, it is the hope that Chaucer s overall intention for
the tale will be understood through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Presidential Election Of 1968 Essay
America has always been a proud nation full of nationalism as well. The people, looked up to
their government and their presidents for what to do during the dark days of depression, war,
economic shutdown, and communism. The people knew who their enemies were or at least had
a description. America never truly had a reason to doubt their leaders, those were the people who
lead the nation to victory. Then there was a blow, a crisis that flipped everyone s views and values
upside down. There was an enemy that needed to be defeated, needed to , for this moment was that
the so called enemy was the president himself, Richard Nixon.
He was first seen in the presidential seen was in the 1960 elections against John F. Kennedy,
which he lost. Though he was not discourage and ran again during the presidential election of
1968. After already losing one election, Nixon was worried about the results, but this time, luck
and the electoral college was on his side this time and won with pretty eye opening results. It
wasn t until his re election where Nixon was really worried, he didn t know what to think about
the results, but the only thing he was sure was that he was going to lose and without doing
anything, he was going to watch how bad he was going to lose the presidency again. He already
lost once and he wasn t going to lose another time, especially to George McGovern. Well, he won.
Nixon won in a victorious landslide victory, the biggest victory in American history.[1] In response

The Pros And Cons Of Gnosticism
The Gnostic view is one of the issues that have been debated among Christian and nonchristian
scholars. This is because a different school of thought has risen in the past concerning Gnostic
teachings and the negative effects it poses to the gospel truth.
Many who oppose gnostic teachings tend to tag them as heretic movement while gnostic teachers
believe that their teaching is base on cosmetic facts.
There are many scholars in the past that have oppose gnostic views because they see it as an
obstacle in preaching the gospel. One of the early scholars that oppose gnostic ideas is Ireanus.
He believes that despite the writings of the early Church Fathers, most of whom were fanatics
with an axe to grind theology see gnostic belief as an enemy of the true gospel. Ireanus used the
term herectic which was not universally used by early church fathers. This is because gnostics
themselves were comprised of diverse groups which did not have a uniform set of beliefs because
of their diversity. Because of their diversity and lack of having a define theory on some of their
views, one is posed with the difficult task of identifying the main aim of the movement.
Furthermore, the research intends to discuss or define the term Gnosticism, it will also look at its
origin and how it relates to Christianity.
What is Gnosticism?
The term Gnostic has traditionally been referred to the various groups which flourished in the early
centuries of the Common Era and which stressed the

Wormy 2.0 Lab Report
From this lab, it can be concluded that planarians will regenerate no matter how they were cut.
Wormy and Wormy 2.0, were both trisected transversely and were thought to grow into six new
planarians, three coming from each worm, and one of them possessing two heads. The results
observed for Wormy fully supported the hypothesis, and the three new planarians had a head,
midsection, and tail. However, Wormy 2.0 s hypothesis was not supported by the results at all. For
one, the hypothesis and results for the tail part were incomparable due to the fact it was missing,
and the prediction for the body, or middle part was quite absurd. Through further research, it is
possible to have a planarian with two heads, but a longitudinal cut would have to be used instead of
a transversal cut. Planarians are one of the most simplest organisms out there in the world, and they
have a stunning ability, regeneration. These flatworms are bi directionally regenerating... Show

For instance, the light, even though it was on the lowest power, was too strong for the planarians.
The flatworms would try to move away from the centre of the dish, where they were less sensitive
to the light. This made finding and drawing the planarians very difficult, especially for the faster
ones, which resulted in inaccurate observations. Additionally, it is possible that Wormy 2.0 s tail
was disposed of while changing the pond water. Because of that, the observations for Wormy 2.0
were incomplete, and therefore the hypothesis was unsupported. As well, there are some factors
that contributed to the experimental error that were uncontrollable. Such as the temperature of the
classroom which may affect how the worm behaves and it s survival, or even organisms that may
harm the planarian, that live in pond water. There are many more errors that definitely happened,

The Rhetorical Analysis Of The King s Speech
In the film The King s Speech , written by David Seidler and released on November 26, 2010, the
filmmaker portrays Albert being constantly under pressure for speaking correctly, by comparing his
speech to great broadcasters who are anything but great leaders. The pressure that comes from
Albert s father, King George V, results in more frustration for the both of them, without either of
them realising that to lead a country into greatness depends more on just speaking well. Throughout
the film, there had been ideal speechmodels like Hitler, David, and King George V, shown in
order to compare their speech to Albert s and to show what a great speaker has to sound in order
to gain the public s support. Ironically, all of those speech perfect models turned out to be
egocentric individuals and the least egotistical leader, Albert, is the one with the impaired
speech. I argue that in The King s Speech , the characters who serve as models of ideal speech
are figures of oppression, therefore the author is implying that the idea of having ideal speech does
not live up to it s praise.
Oppressive leaders like Hitler have used public speaking in order to bring destruction to the
world like war. In the scene when the royal family is watching him on the projector, Hitler is
controlling a mass army while speaking with a powerful tone in a fast and concise pace. Hitler s
body language also represents the intensity of his message to his country by pointing his fingers
vigorously. The

Essay on Ethanol Energy
Since the invention of the internal combustion engine, car makers and consumers have been filling
the gas tank with just that, gasoline. Starting out with leaded gasoline then slowly switching to
unleaded gas in the late 1960s until catalytic converters, a new auto part which can only run on
unleaded, were made mandatory in 1975. However over the past couple decades there have been a
new contender in the fuel marketplace to power consumers cars. Ethanolis defined in World Book

There has been a steady increase in the price of gasoline since the end of 2008 when there was a
major push for ethanol gasoline blends; which are categorized as E10 (10% ethanol, 90%
gasoline) and blends all the way up to E85 (85% ethanol, 15% gasoline). E85 is the highest
amount of ethanol allow for sale in retail, but, in Brazil E100 (100% ethanol) is everywhere. It is
not even possible to buy regular gasoline in Brazil anymore. The reason the price stays up is
because it costs extra to manufacture ethanol and put it in as an additive. The process of
harvesting the corn, (which is the most popular crop in the United States for ethanol) then paying
for all of the machinery/workers tends to get expensive. The simple process to make gasoline
starts with: digging for oil at oil fields, then either shipping the barrels from other countries or from
our oil fields to refineries. The oil is then refined into gasoline, the different companies then pay to
rent pipelines to ship the fuel to terminals. The closest terminal to Rexburg is in Pocatello; it is then
put onto different trucks and sent to different gas stations within the area of that terminal. Ethanol
is a solvent, which means that it will eat through rubber, plastic, fiberglass, and certain types of
metals; so it cannot be shipped with the gasoline through the pipelines to the terminals. If it was
shipped with the fuel in the lines the cleaning properties of the Ethanol would pick up any water,

Wars is mainly about conflict, a constant battle between the light and the dark as the characters

The Natural Evolution Of Readability And How It s...
Visual communication is the interaction of meanings and thoughts through visual stimuli. Usually
in 2D visual communication covers a wide range of genres including art, ideograms, typography,
photography, illustration, graphic design and many others.
In this essay I will try to evidence the natural evolution of readability and legibility in visual
communication and how it s progression reached its pinnacle before the beginning of post
modernism. I will look as far back as the first known instances of visual communication, the cave
paintings, and target key elements to the evolution and progression of visual communication
including ideograms, the alphabet, scribes, the printing press, slave ship diagrams, the Renaissance,
Leonardo Da Vinci and the Avantgarde, before concentrating on the change from Modernism to
post modernism. In my essay readability refers to the ease in which we can read the piece and
legibility discuses the message it is trying to convey.
It is my View that Visual communication, for the most part; naturally progressed over time due to
the influence of previous developments. I believe that this reached its pinnacle during modernism
and experienced a drastic change during post modernism.
The main theory that i will be trying to evidence is the natural progression and evolution of
readability and legibility in visual communication until the beginning of post modernism
The earliest known form of visual communication is Indonesian cave paintings dated at

German Tanks During World War 2
Introduction
During World War II, Nazi Germany developed numerous tank designs, each with varying levels
of success. Out of these designs, the Panzer IV, Tiger I, and Tiger II tanks proved to be the most
effective tanks produced by Nazi Germany. This impressive battle record is shown through the
performances of the tanks themselves as well as the German implementation and tactics involved in
using their armored divisions. The potency of their designs is shown through the analysis of their
specifications and performances during multiple battles. In addition to the characteristics of their
designs and their successes in the battlefield, these tanks were also effective due to tactical
innovation. German armored divisions during World War II proved... Show more content on

Unlike the Panzer III, the Panzer IV was initially designed as an infantry support tank, not to
combat enemy tanks. However, with the inadequacy of the Panzer III against Soviet T 34 tanks
becoming more noticeable, the Panzer IV quickly adopted the function of its increasingly
susceptible relative. Soon becoming the most widely manufactured and distributed German tank of
the war, the Panzer IV saw action in all combat theatres regarding Germany and was the only
German tank to remain in continuous production throughout World War II. In the Eastern Front, an
especially influential upgrade of the Panzer IV s main armament was an enhancement from the
original 75mm gun to a much longer, higher velocity 75mm gun. This allowed the Panzer IV to
overcome its greatest rival, the Russian T 34 tank, with extreme ease. Able to destroy a T 34 at
any range up to 1,200 meters from any angle, this barrel upgrade transformed the Panzer IV from a

they are receiving very little, if any, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and other nutrient rich foods,
which are essential to a well balanced diet ( High Protein Diets ). A study conducted on Atkins
meals reveals that, along with having too much protein and too little carbohydrates, they are
unusually high in saturated fat and cholesterol while minimal in fiber. The meals also fail to meet
the recommended daily values for several vitamins and minerals ( How does . . .? ). Therefore,
with this type of diet, it is vital to one s health that vitamins and minerals are consumed by means of

Location plays an important in why we live in food deserts. Metro Atlanta is in the middle of

On the bright side, there are many programs in Atlanta responsible for decreasing food deserts in
the metropolitan area. The mobile market is the only one that I am aware of. The mobile market is a

The Inaugural Address of John Kennedy
John Kennedy was one of the most skillful orators among all the presidents of United States of
America. His speeches were always persuasive, motivating and inspiring. One of his best
speeches is Inaugural Address , which he addressed to Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr.
Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice president Nixon, President Truman, Reverend Clergy,
and, of course, his fellow citizens. His speech was divided into four major parts, and all the parts
were highly inspiring, especially for the ordinary citizens of America. At the beginning of the
speech he talks about the founders of USA, and the great respect to them. After that Kennedy tells
about the progress of the nation in comparison to the past, after that he ends with couple of pledges.
In the third part he tells about the main strategy, the United Statesshould follow, while taking all the
possible options into account. Kennedy ends the whole speech expressing his confidence in the
people of America.
In his Inaugural Address president talks about the things, which are quite understandable for the

Although mad cow disease is always fatal, it is not really much of a worry in the United States.
There have only been four cases of mad cow disease ever recorded in the United States. In every
case, the United States Department of Agriculture has intervened and recalled tons of beef,

With this being said, mad cow disease is also always fatal. Any cow that has ever been diagnosed
with mad cow disease has died from the disease. I, personally, am surprised that doctors have not
been able to at least slow down the effects of this disease. So, without needing to be said, mad cow
disease is a cow s biggest nightmare. The effects of mad cow disease on cattle are very obvious.
This disease is not one in which you see a cow grazing and it looks perfectly fine, but a disease in
which the cow looks as if it has no control over its own body and mindlessly wanders around. That
is because having no control over its own body is exactly what happens. As you may or may not
know, cows tend to stay pretty closely together in a field. Well, a cow with mad cow disease will
not necessarily stay with the herd. It may wander off completely from the herd for no apparent
reason at all. You may also see a mad cow disease ridden cow stagger and miss steps. This is just
another sign of mad cow disease in cattle. When a cow gets certain types of sicknesses or illnesses,
it may lose weight. Well, the same can be said for a cow with mad cow disease. As a result of the
cow losing a lot of weight, it will also become very weak and it may also become hard for it to hold
itself up for very long. Now, I m not saying that any cow that loses weight because of an illness

Gender, Gender Identity And Sexual Orientation Essay
Many parents voice a fear about their child learning about gender, gender identity, and sexual

According to research, however, no matter how often children are exposed to these topics they still
will make their own decisions later on in life on the matter. Often parents are upset when they hear
their children are learning about these terms because they do not know the dictionaries definitions
for these words are. According to webster; genderis the state of being male or female, the word

Pathos In Sacred Beauty
Collateral beauty a simple phrase that contains a plethora of complexity. After watching Allen
Loeb s film Collateral Beauty I was quickly reminded of a picture that I encountered several
years ago at a memorial ceremony for the Holocaust. Both sources reveal how love, time, and
death are all connected and reveal moments of beauty even in the most desperate situations. The
director of the movie, David Frankel, uses frequent transitions between layers of reality that leave
the audience confused about whether events are true or if they are simply figments of a disturbed
mind. Similarly, the image s audience is faced with two realities of the past and the present:

The Inuktitut Culture
Some of the questions and observations I mention as arising from an ecological perspective, such as
the effect of tribal movement and climate change, link with ones that might arise when approaching
anthropological work with First Nation peoples in northern Canada from a cultural angle. The Cree
and Inuit, along with other First Nation tribes, are often described in relation to their intimate ties
with the environment. This intimacy (Hallenday) shapes every aspect of their cultures how they
hunt, how they socialize, even their language. The Inuktitut language, for example, is known for its
linguistic variability in finely distinguishing between different types of weather, the subtlety of
which is easily lost in translation (throughout Hallenday s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While a best definition of the term culture remains elusive, most anthropologists would agree on the
necessity for having a working definition. John Monaghan and Peter Just elegantly define the
slippery notion of culture as our capacity to conceptualize the world and to communicate those
conceptions symbolically (2000).
In a paper on Indigenous knowledge production around diabetes, Heather Howard makes the point
that
Individual illness and disease are inseparable from collective experience. They are interpreted
through shared, distinct, intersecting, historical and ongoing conditions of economic, political, and
other oppressions. Restoration of health and well being are achieved through actions grounded in

Essay on Henry s Diagnosis of Conduct Disorder
Throughout the movie The Good Son there are many examples of Henry s mental illness. Because
of his aggression towards animals and people, the destruction of property, deceitfulness, and serious
rule violations, Henry is diagnosed with Conduct Disorder (CD) (American Academy of Child and
Adolescent Psychiatry, 12/10/09). Throughout the movie Henry demonstrates all of these
characteristics. He shattered windows on an old warehouse by throwing rocks. Henry also shot
and killed a dog and showed no remorse in doing so. These actions are unjustifiable to the mind of
a normal person, but they are completely normal to Henry. The first example of Henry s (CD) is
the attempts on his sister s life. Henry attempted to killhis younger sister... Show more content on

Moreover, another event from the movie that shows his (CD) is his attempt to kill his mother.
After running away from her in the woods and hiding, he tries to push his mother of a cliff. This
plan was once again stopped by Mark. This ultimately led to Henrys death. This shows just how
maladaptive or out of touch with the world Henry was. As I pointed out earlier, Henry was a
very intelligent and manipulative child. He convinced his parents and other elders around him
to believe that he was the perfect child and tried turning them against his cousin Mark. He even
had Mark s doctor believing that Mark had a problem. According to (American Academy of
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, 12/10/09) both of these events are characteristics of (CD).
Furthermore, Henry s behavior is very atypical. This can be seen when Henry reveals the
crossbow that he personally made. Then Henry proceeds to show Mark how it works by firing it
and nearly missing a cat. When Marks said that it was close to hitting the cat, Henry responded
by saying yeah the scopes not dialed in yet , meaning that the whole time Henry was aiming to
kill the cat. However, this does not stop Henry. The next day, after fixing the scope, Henry aims
at a dog, shoots and kills it. This shows that Henry has no problem killing animals as well as
people, which is yet another characteristic of (CD) (Mayo Clinic, 12/10/09).Conduct disorder is a
complicated group of behavioral and emotional problems

Information About Security Software Developers And...
During the course of this year, I was exposed to technology and its mechanisms. This allowed me
to ponder on the possible technological career paths I could venture on. Prior to researching, I had
only decided on one profession; a physical therapist. I was mainly interested in careers related to
software and website developing. Therefore, I researched and reviewed information about security
software developers and multimedia architects. I created the Evaluation Matrix for Choosing a
Career to assist me in the process of examining the careers. In the Evaluation Matrix for Choosing
a Career , I assessed the careers according to the criteria. The two most important factors for a
career are its demand and salary. From researching, I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Security software developers got the equivalent score as multimedia architects, but under the
weighted score, it scored only a few points off physical therapist. The difference between the
weighted score of a physical therapist and multimedia architects was 0.3 points.
All three of these careers include multiple examples of emerging technologies that help them act
efficiently. For instance, recently security software developers have been using cloud servers to
protect their information. This technology will allow developers to store the different type of
security software they create. The cloud will let them protect virtual software such as firewalls
and cyber security systems. (Mellow Jr., 2017) A major limitation of using the cloud is financial
circumstances. (Ward, 2017) The majority of cloud applications are freeware but do not include all
features. This would mean that one would have to pay a certain amount in order to customize and
add necessary features. Also, since the cloud is internet based the information made by security
software developers may not be safe. This all means security software developers need advanced
security features to maintain protection on their virtual software.
A popular new emerging technology for a physical therapist to use is virtual rehabilitation. This new
technology allows physical therapists to treat their patients with captivating, game like scenarios.

Class Struggle
Introduction Class struggle is the active expression of a theoretical class conflict looked at from
any kind of socialist perspective. Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, leading ideologists of
communism, wrote The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggle .
Marx s notion of class has nothing to do with social class in the sociological sense of upper,
middle and lower classes (which are often defined in terms of quantitative income or wealth).
Instead, in an age of capitalism, Marx describes an economic class. Membership in a class is
defined by one s relationship to the means of production, i.e., one s position in the social structure
that characterizes capitalism. Marx talks mainly about two classes that... Show more content on

the floods! This dimension of Bangladesh s reality is much more presentable and in tune with
what the viewer wants to see. In addition, floods or monsoons are a lot easier to explain away as
inevitable than are riots or strikes. For the bourgeoisie, what would be the point in shaking the
dominant image of a country made of too much water and too many poor people ? However, it
is not possible to completely black out the existence of class struggle and some information gets
through. The following is a resume of news clips from various newspapers in December 1994:
On December 4th 1994 thousands of poorly paid and poorly equipped police officers, auxiliary
militiamen (Ansars) mutinied, taking over two barracks, 22 officers hostage and managing to
take control of the headquarters and training centre in the capital, Dacca. After 4 days, by which
time the mutiny had spread to other provinces, repression began in earnest. The army s special
forces attacked the occupies barracks, using very significant measures: artillery guns, rockets,
helicopters, gas, armored cars... with an official toll of 4 deaths and 50 wounded. The first
ideological image is therefore shattered: there are more than just disarmed, ragged, soaking wet
beggars in Bangladesh! A different technique is now needed to explain events and, this time, the
media choose to fall back on the traditional explanation of struggle between official and opposition
parties. Indeed, the mutiny in December 1994 in

Analysis Of The Plastic Pink Flamingos
In Jennifer Price s The Plastic Pink Flamingos: A Natural History, she gives a brief history about the
pink flamingo and its iconic meaning in America s pop culture. In addition to the meaning behind
the pink flamingo, she connects her historical context to reveal her thoughts on American culture.
In the text, Price utilizes historical allusions and extravagant diction and asks us to experience her
frustration with today s American society and asks us to consider her criticism towards America s
romanticization of materialistic things.
Throughout the passage, Price conveys her tone as ironic and sarcastic. She has pointed out her
irony when she said how it was a little ironic since Americans had hunted flamingos to extinction in
Florida in the late 1800s... To Americans, flamingos are considered to be a symbol of wealth and
prosperity since they were hunted for their plumes and meat. This shows that Americans are
hypocritical for symbolizing the flamingo in a positive light, while at the same time, they are
becoming nearly extinct due to Americans hunting them. Even in the title, it is ironic because of its
contrasting words of plastic and natural. In connection with tone, Price also uses extravagant diction
to mock the prominence of the flamingo, by using words such as pizzazz, striking, and boldness.
By doing this, it reflects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did Zen Buddhism Influence Japanese Culture
Zen Buddhism was introduced to Japan in the 12th century, although it became really prevalent
during the 14th century. It accentuated enlightenment through instinct and meditation and as Zen
teachings grew through Japan its influences could also be seen in their culture. Zen principles could
be seen in Japanese art through their themes and method of illustration, and other cultural customs
like the Japanese tea ceremony. The ceremony first started in humbler forms in Zentemples as a
symbol of leaving the world to nurture the mind and spirit. The ceremony involved the ceremonial
preparation, serving, and drinking of tea.
The custom first began in China, but became something more refined in Japan, where it crested in
the Momoyama period. Around the 15th and 16th centuries The Japanese Tea Ceremony offered
Japanese a momentary break from everyday worries. The traditions spread to social groups like
wealthy merchants and the samurai. The samurai would exhibit their prized collections, Chinese

the occasion and season. Tea Masters (people known as master tea ceremony experts) were

Stroke
A stroke, sometimes called a brain attack, is an injury to the brain due to blockage or rupture of
blood vessels. (Patient Family Education Handbook UCLA Stroke Center Page 8) Stroke most often
occurs when blood flow to the brain has stopped due to a clot, but it can also be caused by
bleeding in the brain. The brain cells in the area begin to die due to lack of oxygen and the
nutrients they need to work correctly. Hippocrates the father of medicine was the first to
identity stroke more than 2,400 years ago. He called it apoplexy which is Greek for struck down by
violence . In the 1600s a doctor named Jacob Wepfer discovered that people who died from
apoplexy had something that was disrupted in the brains blood supply. There were massive

Fossil Fuels In The US
Fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and natural gas provide the U.S. with over 80 percent of its energy
supply (McNerney Cheek, 2012). Fossil fuels, formed from organic materials over the course of
many centuries, have fueled the global and U.S. economic development for the past two centuries.
Nonetheless, fossil fuels are finite resources that cause irreversible harm to the environment.
Scientists consider them nonrenewable forms of energy since they take hundreds of years to form.
According to Rand (2010), fossil fuels were responsible for 79 percent of the greenhouse
emissions in 2010. Poor efficiency practices and higher energy demands have increased the usage
of fossil fuels, and it is now important to find substitute means of generating... Show more content

Energy efficiency has a variety of benefits: lowering cost on both household and economical levels,
reducing demand for energy imports, and fewer greenhouse emissions. Although renewable energy
technologies help to accomplish these objectives of reducing the utilization of fossil fuels, the
cheapest, and often most immediate, is improving energy efficiency. There are considerable
opportunities for improving the efficiency in almost all sectors of the economy, whether it is
transport, energy generation, buildings, or industry. Most typical cars consume fossil fuels.
Choosing alternative forms of transport other than running a personal car saves on the fossil fuel.
Alternative forms of transport in America include train, subway system, or bus. Moreover, taking
public transport does not only save on fossil fuels but it also allows one to concentrate on other
things such as reading. Additionally, the best way of being independent of fossil fuels is driving
less. Bicycle riding or walking reduces the utilization of fossil fuels; it is cheap, good for the
environmental, and

The word Measurement is an often used term in the field of mathematics, science, technology,
quantitative research and many more other disciplines. Measurement can simply be understood as
the process of measuring, quantifying or estimating something in monetary terms. The most
commonly measurement units used in general are kilogram, metre, candela, mole, second, ampere
and kelvin. However, in accounting field measurement has its own specific definition which means
that it is a process of determining the monetary amounts by recognising the elements of the
financial statements and carrying them in the income statement and balance sheet. In the
presentation, I described about the measurement definition, mixed measurement model, advantages
and disadvantages of measurement models, identification of different measurement models, brief
definition of the models historical cost, current cost, fair value, present value and deprival value,

Donatello And Chaucer
The Renaissance was a time where education and an understanding of the world was promoted. Art
and architecture were valued and new styles of art were introduced. Two people who had an impact
on the world, both now and during the Renaissance are Donatello and Geoffrey Chaucer.
Donatello was born in 1386 and was the son of Niccolo Di Betto Bardi. He was a sculptor and
was known for his lifelike and detailed sculptures. He was an apprentice of Lorenzo Ghiberti, who
taught him about the science of metals and how to create them. In 1443 he made the bronze
equestrian statue Gattamelata, after the deceased warrior Erasmo De Narni. It had been the first
bronze statue since roman times and created conflict. It would become the baseline for many future
equestrian monuments in Italy and Europe. In 1445 he completed the Magdalene Penitentiary, a
twisted figure commissioned by the Santa Maria Del Cestello convent to motivate the prostitutes
there to repent. His most important work, the bronze version of David was five feet tall and was
commissioned by Cosimo De Medici. (Donatello biography, 2016.) As Donatello s work became
popular, Cosimo De Medici would become a very close friend to him and commissioned most of his
work.

Satis House Garden
Nowadays, society places a large emphasis on being the best in every way, including being of the
highest wealth or highest social class. Many view this as an overwhelming aspect of society, yet
compared to Victorian England, society today is much less focused on social status than it once
was. Throughout the novel, Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens, many different objects had
symbolic meaning of the social classes in Victorian England. The garden at Satis House was one
of those symbols, and in the process, Dickens was able to show society how people were judged
based off of their social status, instead of who they were as a person, which is unnecessary.

Likewise, the lower class in the Victorian society was not taken care of, because many believed
that they didn t deserve the attention, possibly because they weren t good enough . Due to that,
the lower class, and the garden were not taken care of, and as a result were not in good shape, or
in the gardens case, overgrown and sloppy looking. Pip describes it as overgrown with tangled
weeds (65) demonstrating that it lacked attention and overall care. It was unfair to the garden to
be denied the attention that it so greatly needed, which is the same case as the lower class. The
only time that the garden received activity (according to Pip s knowledge) was when he noticed
a track upon the green and yellow paths, as if someone sometimes walked there, and that Estella
was walking away from me even then (65). Since this took place moments after Estella had
stomped on Pip s heart, the action of Estella making a path of footsteps over the desolate garden
could be viewed as her walking on top of the lower class metaphorically, meaning that she is
treating them as if they are nothing compared to her. Her actions towards Pip, a member of the
lower class, were similar to how she treated the garden, exaggerating the mistreatment that each
received. However, Estella wasn t the only one who mistreated the lower class in the garden, the
PYG (Pale Young Gentlemen) did as well. When the PYG says to Pip, Come and fight ... I ought
to give you a reason for fighting, too. There it is! In the most irritating manner he instantly slapped
his hands against one another, dainty flung one of his legs up behind him, pulled my hair, slapped
his hands again, and butted it into my stomach (94), Dickens exemplifies how the lower class was

Dreamliner 787 Case Study
Boeing is the worlds largest aerospace company. While Boeing is known mostly known for their
commercial airplanes they also manufactures defense, space and security systems, military aircrafts,
weapons, satellites, electronic defense systems, launch systems and information and
communication systems (Boeing, 2013). In this case we are going to focus on the Dreamliner 787,
and the problems that came with the creation of it. The first Boeing 787Dreamliner was delivered
to Japan s ANA in 2011, nearly 40 months after the planned delivery date. The expected delivery
was in May 2008, but the fuel efficient 787 Dreamliner s manufacturing had become complicated
due to multiple changes in the design and supply chain implemented all at once. Far from the
traditional manufacturing, Dreamliner design consists of many new features like unique design,
one piece fuselage, reduced weight, 20% increase in fuel economy, and reduction in maintenance
time. Apart from the changes in design, another major difficulty was the company s global supply
chain network. For the first time ever Boeing outsourced two most critical parts fuselage and
wings. Everything put together, the complications kept increasing and so is the delay. At least
when the plane finally the entered the market years later design came out as expected, and there
weren t any sacrifices to the design that had to be made. The plane can hold from 210 250
passengers on routes of 7650 8200 nautical miles and satisfies the fuel

Easter Lab # 3 Predicting Maximal Oxygen Uptake 30 October 2014 KINE 3153: Physiology of Exercise and Human Performance Dr. Murat Karabulat INTRODUCTION: The energy to perform exercise for periods of more than 10 minutes comes mainly from aerobic metabolism (1). VO2max is a reproducible measure of an individual s cardiovascular system s ability to deliver the required oxygenated blood to a large muscle mass involved in exercise (1). The determination of an individual s VO2max is commonly used to assess levels of physical fitness, as well as develop and monitor training programs for athletes. The submaximal tests have an error of plus or minus 10% which makes them invalid for the purpose of long term training studies. For clinical screening purposes the use of submaximal prediction tests is a viable option. There are three main advantages to using submaximal testing. Submaximal testing does not take and individual to his or her maximal limits, which greatly reduces the chance of a cardiovascular accident, especially in older subjects. In addition expensive laboratory equipment is not needed, and more subjects can be screened in a given period of time. PURPOSE: The purpose of this laboratory #3 it to acquaint the class with different methods to estimate VO2max, and to see how these predictions compare to VO2max values acquired during Lab #2. Laboratory #2 was canceled due to inoperative equipment, so those comparisons cannot be made. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Doctrine Of Reformed Theology Reformed Theology in Missions The argument can and should be made that all Reformed doctrines are important for the sake and cause of missions, but for this paper a few have been selected to highlight their particular significance in their role in world wide missions. These doctrines have often not received proper importance in missions because of a general preoccupation or focus on certain Reformed teachings that seem to dominate most people s view of reformed theology. In fact, they have received very little thought in comparison to those that are concerned with soteriology in missions. This, together with the preaching on the fall of man and his sinfulness, naturally leads to preaching the gospel. Missions will only be successful if Jesus Christ is the theme in gospel preaching. The centrality of Christ and the importance of this is evident in Calvin s Institutes. It is there that McNeill writes, It is important to realize that the focal point of the Institutes is not found in God s sovereignty, or in predestination, or in insistence on obedience to God s Word itself, apart from constant reference to Jesus Christ, whom the written Word makes known. Paul writes to the Corinthians, For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. as seen in I Corinthians 2:2. In its missionary task the church needs to reemphasize the centrality and significance of Jesus Christ. As Paul says in I Corinthians 3, it is not Apollos or he that was important; it is the foundation that he (Paul) laid: Jesus Christ. Even though you would think it impossible, some do not present the message of the gospel, the death of Jesus Christ for men separated from God through sin, in such a manner that Christ is seen and heard as the Scriptures speak of Him. There is a great need to recover this correct and Bible presentation of the gospel before we take men away from Christ. The great truths of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Evaluation Of The Doctor Patient Relationship A patient entrusts a level of responsibility to his or her primary doctor when seeking treatment. In order for the doctor to diagnose and treat any ailments he discovers, a voluntary power dynamic must be formed between the doctor and the patient. Through this power contract, the patient consents to any prescriptions, treatments, or diagnostic procedures that the doctor orders, and in return the primary physicianis expected to give the optimal level of care. An analysis of the doctor patient relationshipshows that the doctor holds the majority of power in the dynamic through the combined means of force and solidarity while the patient can counteract this majority through money and setting the agenda. The doctor patient relationship can first be explained through Steven Lukes s three dimensions of power. The first dimensionis the most clearly in favor for the doctor, involving a focus on behavior in making of decisions on issues over which there is an observable conflict of interest (Alexander 2012:559). This is seen when the doctor is given the responsibility of diagnosing the patient, for the patient cannot objectively diagnose himself. The patient gives the doctor the power to determine what illness is affecting him and to prescribe treatments for this illness. The third dimension of power comes as a supplement to the first dimension. Jeffrey Alexander describes Lukes s third dimension of power as hidden social powers [that] ensure that a particular political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I am grateful that I have found my passion that I found early in life and have been supported by my family and society. My educational experiences in Korea and the U.S. have demonstrated to me that the social support and infrastructure are immensely important for individuals to live out their passion, especially in the STEM field. As a female physical chemist who pursues an academic research, I will strive to contribute to making an inclusive and supportive scientific community. Basic scientific research was not an obvious career path for me as a student who went to a public girl s high school in Korea. The belief that girls are not apt for challenges in male dominant STEM careers discourage women participation, and many women struggle with social barriers to continue careers in the physical sciences or engineering. Like most of the high school students, I had to choose either the science/math concentrated or the humanities/social science concentrated curriculum, and I was among twenty percent of the girls in my high school who chose the former. The common perception that there are no ample research funding, job opportunities, and a bright future for those who pursue basic science, makes pure scientific research an unpopular path. From there on, more of these groups were started at schools around the country. It was rare to have women be appointed into one of these because of their lesser social status. How Does Chaucer Use Humor In The Millers Tale While you would be hard pressed to deny/ignore the heavily present humor in the Miller s Tale, which earns it the title of a fabliau, it is also equally critical to consider the ways in which Chaucer contradicts these humorous moments with bouts of seriousness. Even though it is often difficult to discern between what is light hearted and fun compared to what is meaningful and moral telling in the Miller s Tale, identifying these moments of jest and ernest along with their distinct purposes can help further readers understanding of what Chaucer might have intended as the overall take away of the tale. Both moments of humor and seriousness, although contradictory, work together to highlight and draw attention to instances of significance, which suggest small moral lessons. Wormy and Wormy 2.0, were both trisected transversely and were thought to grow into six new planarians, three coming from each worm, and one of them possessing two heads. The results observed for Wormy fully supported the hypothesis, and the three new planarians had a head, midsection, and tail. However, Wormy 2.0 s hypothesis was not supported by the results at all. For one, the hypothesis and results for the tail part were incomparable due to the fact it was missing, and the prediction for the body, or middle part was quite absurd. Through further research, it is possible to have a planarian with two heads, but a longitudinal cut would have to be used instead of a transversal cut. • 28. The Rhetorical Analysis Of The King s Speech In the film The King s Speech , written by David Seidler and released on November 26, 2010, the filmmaker portrays Albert being constantly under pressure for speaking correctly, by comparing his speech to great broadcasters who are anything but great leaders. The pressure that comes from Albert s father, King George V, results in more frustration for the both of them, without either of them realising that to lead a country into greatness depends more on just speaking well. Throughout the film, there had been ideal speechmodels like Hitler, David, and King George V, shown in order to compare their speech to Albert s and to show what a great speaker has to sound in order to gain the public s support. Ironically, all of those speech perfect models turned out to be egocentric individuals and the least egotistical leader, Albert, is the one with the impaired speech. I argue that in The King s Speech , the characters who serve as models of ideal speech are figures of oppression, therefore the author is implying that the idea of having ideal speech does not live up to it s praise. Oppressive leaders like Hitler have used public speaking in order to bring destruction to the world like war. E85 is the highest amount of ethanol allow for sale in retail, but, in Brazil E100 (100% ethanol) is everywhere. It is not even possible to buy regular gasoline in Brazil anymore. The reason the price stays up is because it costs extra to manufacture ethanol and put it in as an additive. The process of harvesting the corn, (which is the most popular crop in the United States for ethanol) then paying for all of the machinery/workers tends to get expensive. The simple process to make gasoline starts with: digging for oil at oil fields, then either shipping the barrels from other countries or from our oil fields to refineries. The oil is then refined into gasoline, the different companies then pay to rent pipelines to ship the fuel to terminals. The closest terminal to Rexburg is in Pocatello; it is then put onto different trucks and sent to different gas stations within the area of that terminal. Ethanol is a solvent, which means that it will eat through rubber, plastic, fiberglass, and certain types of metals; so it cannot be shipped with the gasoline through the pipelines to the terminals. So, without needing to be said, mad cow disease is a cow s biggest nightmare. The effects of mad cow disease on cattle are very obvious. This disease is not one in which you see a cow grazing and it looks perfectly fine, but a disease in which the cow looks as if it has no control over its own body and mindlessly wanders around. That is because having no control over its own body is exactly what happens. As you may or may not know, cows tend to stay pretty closely together in a field. Well, a cow with mad cow disease will not necessarily stay with the herd. It may wander off completely from the herd for no apparent reason at all. You may also see a mad cow disease ridden cow stagger and miss steps. This is just another sign of mad cow disease in cattle. When a cow gets certain types of sicknesses or illnesses, it may lose weight. Well, the same can be said for a cow with mad cow disease. As a result of the cow losing a lot of weight, it will also become very weak and it may also become hard for it to hold itself up for very long. After watching Allen Loeb s film Collateral Beauty I was quickly reminded of a picture that I encountered several years ago at a memorial ceremony for the Holocaust. Both sources reveal how love, time, and death are all connected and reveal moments of beauty even in the most desperate situations. The director of the movie, David Frankel, uses frequent transitions between layers of reality that leave the audience confused about whether events are true or if they are simply figments of a disturbed mind. Similarly, the image s audience is faced with two realities of the past and the present: Holocaust prisoners and present day Israeli soldiers. This confusion reflects... Because of his aggression towards animals and people, the destruction of property, deceitfulness, and serious rule violations, Henry is diagnosed with Conduct Disorder (CD) (American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, 12/10/09). Throughout the movie Henry demonstrates all of these characteristics. He shattered windows on an old warehouse by throwing rocks. Henry also shot and killed a dog and showed no remorse in doing so. This shows just how maladaptive or out of touch with the world Henry was. As I pointed out earlier, Henry was a very intelligent and manipulative child. He convinced his parents and other elders around him to believe that he was the perfect child and tried turning them against his cousin Mark. He even had Mark s doctor believing that Mark had a problem. According to (American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, 12/10/09) both of these events are characteristics of (CD). Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, leading ideologists of communism, wrote The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggle . Marx s notion of class has nothing to do with social class in the sociological sense of upper, middle and lower classes (which are often defined in terms of quantitative income or wealth). Instead, in an age of capitalism, Marx describes an economic class. The following is a resume of news clips from various newspapers in December 1994: On December 4th 1994 thousands of poorly paid and poorly equipped police officers, auxiliary militiamen (Ansars) mutinied, taking over two barracks, 22 officers hostage and managing to take control of the headquarters and training centre in the capital, Dacca. Pip describes it as overgrown with tangled weeds (65) demonstrating that it lacked attention and overall care. It was unfair to the garden to be denied the attention that it so greatly needed, which is the same case as the lower class. The only time that the garden received activity (according to Pip s knowledge) was when he noticed a track upon the green and yellow paths, as if someone sometimes walked there, and that Estella was walking away from me even then (65). Since this took place moments after Estella had stomped on Pip s heart, the action of Estella making a path of footsteps over the desolate garden could be viewed as her walking on top of the lower class metaphorically, meaning that she is treating them as if they are nothing compared to her. Her actions towards Pip, a member of the lower class, were similar to how she treated the garden, exaggerating the mistreatment that each received.
