Leon Cooper The Thin Red Line
The Film to be shown for Future Generations If Leon Cooper were to watch the film The Thin Red
Line, he might actually be moved to tears at how closely accurate the war was portrayed. The film
shows perfectly the destruction of the islands that once were inhabited by peaceful locals into a place
that is unrecognizable. Not only that, it flawlessly demonstrated the breakdown of soldiers and how
they felt towards the war. Leon Cooper would relate mostly to two of the characters in how they view
the war and the way they handled their situations. There were characters that Cooper hated also due to
their motives and how they did not cared about the lives of the soldiers. This would have angered
Cooper at how selfish the character was and not understanding ... Show more content on

He probably couldn t stand this character seeing how he is the epitome of everything Cooper is
fighting against. Tall was acting as the evils in the war, besides the enemies. Cooper would have
thought how Tall symbolizes how the US government is. He does not care for the people and soldiers
but only for the glory of beating the enemies not caring about the loss. He haphazardly gave orders to
send men to their deaths without carefully analyzing the seriousness of the predicament that they are
in; only there to get the results. This was similar to how the U.S just sent men to battle to multiple
islands without much preparation and caused many unnecessary deaths and miscalculations. They
were so rushed for victory that many soldiers died in the war. The US and Tall could have handled the
situation with more planning. Something that he could also compare is the fact that most of the time
the two were more acting behind the scenes and were not actively in the battle. While Tall was safely
at the bottom of the hill away from the bunkers, he was furious when Staros would not send his men
uphill to battle when it was clearly disadvantage on their side. Similarly the U.S. just sent out more
and more troops to battle while the officials are safe back in the U.S. Lastly the way that he handled
with the fallen soldiers are

Pollution And Environmental Pollution
Environmental health is your wellbeing of your surroundings or conditions in which a human, animal,
or plant lives or produces. There things effect your air pollution like carbon monoxide you can get
things like asthma. Also there fresh water there different type of water depend where you live. Finally
there is way to increase your environmental health and those around you.
Cars and trucks produce air pollution throughout their life, carrying pollution emitted during vehicle
service, refueling, construction, and disposal. Additional emissions are combined with the refini ary
and secondary pollution. Primary pollution is emitted directly into the air; secondary pollution results
from chemical reactions between toxins in the atmosphere. The accompanying are the principal
pollutants from motor vehicles. These particles of soot and metals give smog its dark color.
Fine particles less than one tenth the width of an individual hair give the most significant hazard to
individual condition, as they can penetrate far into lungs. PM is a leading primary pollution and a
secondary pollution from hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, and sulfur dioxides. Diesel exhaust is a
significant donor to PM pollution.

Bangladesh has a huge supply of raw materials for the agro based industry. 2. Fruits and vegetable
production has increased significantly in recent years. 3. Government and NGOs have been
conducting regular training programs in developing a skilled manpower for this industry. Director of
Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Kabirur Rahman Khan said the region, a food
surplus area, produced adequate amount of crops particularly rice, maize, wheat and soybean, fruits
especially mango, banana, papaya and tomato and vegetables over the last couple of years due to
suitable soil condition, topography and climate
4. Development of the Industrial Sector: Issues and Challenges
❖ The performance of the small and cottage industry sector calls for special attention because of its
labour intensive character, its focus on catering to the demand of low and medium income consumers
and its capacity for import substitution. Amongst the small scale industries, production of electric
apparatus, plastic toys, miscellaneous metal wears, tin plate and readymade wear has registered robust
performance in recent years. To be sure, this sub sector has also been particularly vulnerable to natural
disasters and other production snags compared to medium and large scale industries.
❖ Factors inhibiting industrial investment in Bangladesh are rather common for domestic as well as
foreign investors: poor infrastructure, absence

Creating a High Speed Rail Line in Wisconsin Essay
The people of Wisconsin who commute from Madison to Milwaukee and vice versa would find a
High speed rail line useful for many reasons. Granted most people that commute from Madison to
Milwaukee of vice versa aren t doing it every day. They are generally just doing it once in a while.
The technology of high speed rails is relatively simple; it consists of magnetic tracks repelling the
train with a polar opposite magnet on the bottom. This creates a surface with little friction; therefore
the train can go faster. A lot of factors come into play when the state thinks of funding this. Governor
Walker rejected the funds and cancelled the project in 2010, but there are people that sill have hope.
The cost of operation is in the millions per ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The states of Ohio and Wisconsin were given about $1.2 billion, but they both passed the grants up.
The funds were reallocated to other states ( Wisconsin and Ohio ). For many the hope for high speed
rail in the near future in Wisconsin has diminished because of Governor Walker rejected the funds, but
Minnesota never stopped planning. Governor walker would have liked to spend the money on other
things such as highway systems for the state and other infrastructure. After Wisconsin governor Scott
Walker cancelled the funds for the high speed rail program, Minnesota continued planning. They
currently are still planning a line from Milwaukee to Minneapolis that would run about 110 mph.
Consequentially, it doesn t run through Madison. The route is called the Empire Builder and the state
of Minnesota plans to upgrade the line (Ryan). This line wouldn t help commuters between Madison
and Milwaukee, but it would make an easy trip from Milwaukee to the Twin Cities. The state of
Wisconsin plans to pay around $57,000 of the planning for the line. That is about half, and the plan
should be drawn up by the summer of 2014 (Ryan). High speed rail will modernize Wisconsin and
America if implemented. If American wants to stay a modernized country and stay ahead of the others
they would need to stay ahead of the technology that is not the case with high

Importance Of Cultural Norms And Practices In Business
establishes their rituals and justifies what are their norms and values. Businesses wanting to expand to
different nations must take into account the countries culture and values in order to produce and
manufacture products and services according to the norms of their society, and ensure their culture is
respected and preserved in the way the products are marketed and manufactured. The products must
be available and accessible without concerns of dissing religion and aspects of their culture and way
of life.
Businesses can take advantage in a developing country through specialisation, which is producing
products custom made and specifically catered to a certain culture which is similar in various
countries. Businesses will have to overcome language barriers, learn about others religion, receive
advice from local experts of the country and become familiar to the people s behaviour, customs and
aesthetics to properly and appropriately distribute its products
Specialisation can be see through Dr Matthew McDougall investing into the Chinese Market, and
became the founder of DaigouSales. Dr McDougall had found that Chinese students and immigrants
were purchasing Australian products through family and friends of their hometown. They began
exporting products of interest and learnt new ways to do business in China. They became aware of the
Chinese culture and the way their customers were updated on the latest fashion trends and therefore
marketed their products successfully. Their

The Uk Constitution And The United States
Often the UK constitution is asserted to be the most unique in the world, as its sources are a piece of
historical significance as they come from great British heritage. From the case of Jackson and others v
Her Majesty s Attorney General, Lord Steyn stated that We do not in the UK have an uncontrolled
constitution . In general terms a person may judge the UK constitution to be uncontrolled due to it
being unwritten, as it is derived from a wide range of sources. Which vary from common law to
international treaties. However on the other side of the spectre, a written constitution is one like the
USA s, embodied into a single document. Putting aside the fact that the UK constitution is from a
variety of different sources, it must be verified that it has worked successfully to this date from 1689
when the supremacy of parliament over the crown was introduced, following the glorious revolution.
It can also be said that, why would the UK constitution be classed as uncontrolled, if it has worked for
hundreds of years and it is still going strong.
A constitution is generally there for one purpose, it sets out the framework and principal functions of
the organs of government and by setting out these functions the UK has been growing and adapting.
We in other words have an evolutionary constitution. If it ever came to a time where a written
constitution was enacted, it would indeed disrupt the infrastructure of the UK as they are inflexible.
Clear inflexibility is shown by

Anne Bradstreet Religion
Imagine waking up to a scream of terror, your room engulfed in flames, and smoke filling your lungs
as you choke coughing for air. Look deeper, and further imagine having a house full of your own
children scrambling to exit in time before the house burns and crumbles to ashes. This is what Anne
Bradstreet woke up too as she explained in Upon the Burning of the House on July 10th, 1666, as she
stood and watched her house glow in a blaze of flames. Anne has many concerns as her house has
burned down, but she looks on the brighter side, the Puritan side, and she knows that God has made
her a house in heaven and that everything happens for a reason and God has better things waiting for
her than Anne had before the fire. She starts to show her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of her concerns are hidden in the story and you have to go deep to comprehend her feelings in her
writing. Anne believes everything happens for a reason because of God. Everything that was on fire
she did not actually own for herself, for everything she owned actually belonged to God. So, she could
not mourn and ache the lost because God had the right to take all of her valued items away. Anne,
having very religious beliefs, does not want to shame god by showing her emotions. Although she had
often questioned the strict concept of her judgmental God, as God was Anne s almighty idol, she had
never hesitated to trust the actual existence of her higher being. Anne believes that she is a good
enough Puritan that she has a special place in heaven waiting for her when it is her time to go. She
believes a heavenly place will be built for her on permanent grounds and her house will consist of
many expensive furnishings all financed by God, for Anne does not know the actual value of these
items, but she does not need to know that as she does not even need expensive stuff now, in the real
world, if all of it is waiting for her up in heaven. All three of these concerns are her main concerns

Does Tv Have a Negative Influence on Society
DOES TV HAVE A NEGATİVE İNFLUENCE ON SOCİETY
The negative effects of television are huge. To minimize the potential negative effects of television, it
s important to understand what the impact of television can be on children.
Violence
Over the past two decades, hundreds of studies have examined how violent programming on TV
affects children and young people. While a direct cause and effect link is difficult to establish, there is
a growing consensus that some children may be vulnerable to violent images and messages.
Researchers have identified three potential responses to media violence in children: * Increased fear

* Television watching also promotes lack of creativity and enhances passivity. The child shies away
from mental and physical workout. * The sense of relaxation that kids feel while watching television
diminishes completely when it is switched off. This makes them watch TV for longer periods of time
and makes them addicted to it * Television viewing creates the concept of gender role and racial
stereotypes in children, as they start considering it as very natural phenomena. Heroic acts are
expected out of males, while women are displayed as objects and less powerful. * For teens, television
is a major source of information about sex. A survey conducted in 1997 by the Kaiser Family
Foundation found that 61 per cent of young teens, ages 13 15, rated entertainment media as their top
source of information on sexuality and sex health. This should concern parents because although two
thirds of TV shows contain sexual content, only one in ten includes any reference to safe sex or the
consequences of unprotected sex. * The main focus of many teen dramas is sex, with each episode
containing countless verbal and visual references to sexual activity. These highly sexualized portrayals
of relationships bear little resemblance to the real lives of teens and are generally not balanced by
clear messages about safe and healthy attitudes towards sex.

Min Wage Essay
Should Minimum wage be increased?
Introduction
For many decades now, there has been heated debates concerning minimum wages and increases in
those wages. Most people have a tendency to assume that when the minimum wage is increased
people will benefit. They do not stop to think of the consequences that come from minimum wage
increases. The general population merely assumes that people should make an adequate amount of
income and never stop to consider the consequences, nor do they stop to consider alternatives. A rise
in minimum wages is not necessarily the best approach to helping the poverty stricken individuals in
this country. The following paper presents an overview of various problems concerning raising
minimum wage, finding that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Poor
The primary reason most people give for wanting to increase the minimum wage is that of helping
poor people. There are many studies that indicate the benefits are just as numerous as the damage
done. According to James Kaz, the majority of those who are paid minimum wage are not poor but
rather one of at least one other income providers in a household. Most people working for minimum
wage are teenagers...and those used to simply go work for almost nothing for some company or
individual in the field they wanted their career . (Kaz02.html)
It appears that the poor are done much more damage than good through minimum wage increases.
Neumark et al. (1999) provide the following background in that regard:
The lower employment occurs mainly because the increase in the cost of low skilled labor, relative to
the cost of using other productive inputs (such as machinery or more skilled workers), leads
employers away from using low skilled labor and toward these other inputs. This substitution effect is
reinforced by the higher overall cost of production associated with the legislated increase in the wage
for low skilled workers, which in turn raises the price of the product and results in less output sold.
(NA)
In addition, there are numerous workers who are adversely affected by a minimum wage change in the
fact that they do not receive the full amount of the legislated increase. This is what happens to, say, an
individual who

Persuasive Essay About A Grocery Shop
This seems like a weird question, but have you ever thought about how you grocery shop? Yeah, of
course, you might say. You go to the store, get a cart, put food in, pay for it, and bring it home. OK,
but do you ever find that you spend more time at the store than you d like? Do you hate standing
around trying to pair this protein with that starch, or find yourself buying yet another packet of dried
thyme because you couldn t remember if you had any? Planning healthy meals takes some work, and
shopping for the ingredients is one of the most important tasks. Whether you are trying to save money
on your groceries and get as much healthy, wholesome foods on the table as possible, the way you
shop can be your best first step on that journey. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Make a list and stick to it. This step is pretty self explanatory, but its importance cannot be overstated.
Making a good list of what you need from the store will cut down on the length of time you have to
shop. It also allows you to fight the wandering belly syndrome , which happens when you push your
cart around, looking at everything on the shelves, and then having the sudden urge to drop some
Nutella or ice cream in your cart, when it wasn t on your list. Just seemed like a good idea at the time,
right? Don t feel too ashamed we ve all been there. Keeping your focus on the stuff on your list, while
not much fun, will help save you from yourself! 4. Use the butcher counter or measure your meat. If
you are fortunate enough to have access to a butcher shop or a good butcher counter at your local
grocery store, you can buy your meat in exact quantities. The problem I always found in grocery
stores is the way meat is sold. Families come in many different sizes and needs, yet the ground beef
only comes in two general sizes. If you buy the smaller package, you might come up short for your
recipe. If you buy one of those big 5 pound packages, you either have to divide it into more
appropriate sizes yourself, or you might end up cooking it

Essay On North And South Industrialization
The North and the South had many differences, the most important dissimilarity was their level of
industrialization. The North prioritized industry and railroads, while the South remained mostly
agricultural. Northern production, transportation networks, and economy drastically out performed the
South during the civil war, leading to a Northern victory.
Firstly, Massive industrialization in the North meant factories were being built across all states, this
explosion of expansion really set the base for how far ahead the North would get from the
confederacy. By 1860, 90 percent of the nation s manufacturing output came from northern states (B.
Arrington, nps). The Union would also get all of their firearms and clothing necessary for their war
effort from these factories. In the South, things were very much the opposite. Slave trade was at an all
time high, the amount of farms and plantations growing cash crops were also at a high point. There
was too much money to be made when it came to cash crops and labor from buying slaves for cheap.
This meant all of their focus would be on growing as much crops as possible. Leading to ... Show

In the north, aid was given to railroad companies such as free land grants, and the government buying
railroad corporation stocks. This started to connect major manufacturing cities with major coastal
trade ports. Leading to produced goods being transported and traded at a much faster rate than before.
The military found the amount of railroads during the civil war useful, as it allowed Union soldiers to
travel at great speed through the country. In the Confederacy, travel for troops was much slower than
their counterpart. Only one tenth of Southerners lived in urban areas and transportation between cities
was difficult, except by water . (civilwar.org) This lack of railroads did not help when food, and other
products had to be moved across the

Types Of Decentralization
2.3. Types of Decentralization Decentralization belongs to many types, depending on the
characteristics, policy implications and condition for success. Political, administrative, fiscal and
market decentralization are the fundamental types of decentralization. There are different terms and
words for defining the types of decentralization and there may also have various ways to operate them.
However, the comprehensive approach is more vital than defining. It can be observed that every
country has its own type of functioning decentralization and each local department may have unique
combinations. 2.3.1. Political Decentralization Political decentralization involves the transfer of
decision making power and accountability to local levels. It often involves some form of devolution
the transfer of responsibilities to Local governments that have been granted significant autonomy. In
democratic Decentralization these local governments are accountable to local populations through
Elections and/or other means. In the context of international practice, the political decentralization

The Latest Major Dota 2 Tournament On Mainstream...
The latest major Dota 2 tournament was met with a huge reception and the largest prize pool in e
sports history to date. For the developers Valve, the tournament was a huge success and another
stepping stone in e sports rapid rise towards mainstream popularity and acceptance. However Valve
also made another and no less profound statement of intent with the tournament that marks them as a
distinctive force in the e sports and wider gaming industry and that is one of emphasising the
generative power of play. This statement of intent became clear after a controversial incident occurred
with the Ukrainian team Natus Vincere who employed a strategy that many considered to be a bug ,
glitch or exploit , or at least, certainly to an outsiders view. The strategy in question was the now
infamous fountain hook Pudge / Chen combination that utilises a unique ability of the two champions
(Pudges Meat Hook and Chens Test of Faith ) to create an effectively unstoppable move that pulls an
enemy hero into the certain death of the base fountain if executed correctly. The if word is key here.
This was an extremely hard combination to successfully employ that not only relies on a perfection of
team unity in combining moves, but also on a huge level of individual skill on the part of Natus
Vincere s Dendi in landing the initial Meat Hook from Pudge. However for the average spectator,
many of whom were from a League of Legends background (1), it looked like an (albeit fun) exploit

Chinese Housing Price Control and Economic in One Lesson

Each family member will have 60 square meters exempted from tax. Hazlitt has discussed the effect
on tax, it cuts down the production. In China real estate case, it not directly reduces the production as
the tax burden doesn t go to supplier, however it directly leads to the decrease of housing demand and
cooling down people s notion of housing is a store of wealth.
Recommendation and conclusion
In economics view housing price control is only a short term solution for maintain the stable price. In
the long run government shouldn t interfere too much in a mature property market as the market itself
has the ability to adjust the price and balance the demand and supply. Moreover, whether the local
property industry actually can achieve the goals that government set and is the new property tax will
continue implement in other cities or it will be abolished is still uncertain. As we can see, there is a
gap between the government policy and actual practice due to the real Chinese society situation and
people s conception. Housing price has become one of the most urgent issue in China for a period of
years and actually in later 2008 and 2009 some big cities housing price had a obvious decrease, such
as Guangzhou city. The main reason is not because of governmental macro control but the global
financial crisis.

types of hormones hormonal amine, glycoprotein, steroids, and eicosanoid. The main endocrine

Analysis Of John Perry s Hayek Argument
Dylan Ellis October 1, 2015
ECON 209.003
Perry Burnett
Hayek Philosophical Argument In Hayek s argument, he explains how socialism s centralized
planning is an exponentially inferior economic policy compared to the competitive nature of
democracy due to the restrictions government planning imposes on a population s ability to choose.
He also expresses concern over similarities between the attitude of United States population and
socialist Germany regarding our growing desire to organize and plan everything, noting that we are
headed in the same general direction as pre fascist Germany. His argument has the intention of
convincing people to stray from this path of organizing the economy and instead to simply let the

Whenever they realize that having leaders with total power is convenient, it s a slippery slope to
totalitarianism. Totalitarianism with a group of leaders under the chief of command who, by the nature
of society, are unavoidably the worst pick of the lot. This is due to needing a hive mind, which is most
easily found among the lower intellectuals, as well as people who have no strong ideals and who are
easily persuaded. This similar mindset, for this system to work, has to be accepted by the public as
well. The individuals of the public are also apt to be treated without common decency, the leaders
justifying their actions by claiming it is for the good of society. Without Rule of Law, there s nothing
keeping this government in check either. Those who are desperate to avoid fascism, and want to do so
by organizing an economy and socializing it, will see that the fruits of their labor have produced the
exact effect they wanted to evade. He goes on to explain that the economy of a nation is extremely too
complicated to be controlled and directed by a government. There are too many minute details that
make up the economy as a whole to be effectively and consciously planned. This is how competition
is the better alternative. Individuals of a society, left to their own designs, can each be a small director
of the economy. Never having enough power to take over another citizen s life, but each playing a

Cons Of Human Cloning
Introduction
The topic of cloning has brought much debate in science and also in society. Many people believe that
reproductive cloning would be beneficial while on the other hand, many people believe that it is too
risky and unethical. Reproductive cloning has shown advantages and disadvantages to humanity,
animals, and society. Through research and critical thinking, we will look at both the issues and the
benefits that come with reproductive cloning.
What is Cloning
There are three different types of artificial cloning: gene cloning, reproductive cloning, and
therapeutic cloning (Cloning Fact Sheet, 2017). Reproductive cloning is the process used when
creating a copy of an animal or human. It can also occur in nature; which happens when mammals
have identical twins. The application of somatic nuclear transfer technology to the creation of a human
being that shares all of its nuclear genes with the person donating the implanted nucleus (Pros and
Cons of Human Cloning, 2016). The process of reproductive cloning may seem relatively
straightforward; however, there is a unique and rigorous process that goes into creating a clone. First,
scientist remove a somatic cell from an animal that they wish to copy and then transfer the DNA from
the cell into an egg cell. The egg then develops into an early stage embryo while still in a test tube.
Scientists place the early stage embryo into an adult female animal s womb where it slowly develops.
Later, this female animal gives birth

Carpet is a thick heavy covering for floor, especially covering the entire surface of the floor.
Durrie is a cotton carpet made in India, often in rectangular pieces fringed at the ends: sometimes used

Samuel De Champlain Was A Better Leader Than Jacques Cartier
This essay will explain why Samuel de Champlain was a better leader than Jacques Cartier.
Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other, said U.S. President John F. Kennedy. Jacques
Cartier and Samuel de Champlain were two French explorers who were the best of the best at what
they did. Both men tried to tame the wild snowy beast that we now know as Canada. Both men were
greatly respected explorers and leaders: one came to Canada tasked with finding routes through
Canada to Asia, and the other man came to establish the fur trade. The debate about who was the
better leader is still going on until today, but this essay will try and show that the best leader was
Samuel de Champlain. Resilience is an important feature to have as a leader. Both men were
cartographers and explorers, but only one had the resilience to remain in the New World and establish
and administer a new colony for France. Resilience is important to have as a leader because no one
would follow you if you crumble under any sort of pressure or challenge Despite the difficulties of his
first few months in the new land, including a very harsh winter and the death of many of the first
settlers due to the cold and starvation, Samuel de Champlain traveled back and forth across the
Atlantic Ocean 23 times to explore and map the land, and establish and bolster the settlements by
bringing back more settlers and materials to trade the aboriginals for furs. He founded many long
lasting settlements in the

Lab Report On The Effect Of Substrate Concentration On...
Introduction
The purpose of this lab report is to investigate the effect of substrate concentration on enzyme activity
as tested with the enzyme catalase and the substrate hydrogen peroxide at several concentrations to
produce oxygen. It was assumed that an increase in hydrogen peroxide concentration would decrease
the amount of time the paper circle with the enzyme catalase present on it, sowing an increase in
enzyme activity. Therefore it can be hypothesised that there would be an effect on catalase activity
from the increase in hydrogen peroxide concentration measured in time for the paper circle to ride to
the top of the solution.
Enzymes are natural catalysts that work from the ability to increase the rate of reaction by decreasing
the activation energy of a reaction. (Blanco, Blanco 2017) An enzyme can do this 10^8 to 10^10 fold,
sometimes even 10^15 fold. (Malacinsk, Freifelder 1998) The substrate will momentarily bind with
the enzyme making the enzyme substrate complex, of which the shape of the substrate is
complimentary to the shape of the active site on the enzyme it is binding with. There are two main
theories as to how an enzymes and substrates interact, the lock and key model and induced fit theory.
The lock and key model suggests that the enzyme has a specific shape that fits the substrate and only
that substrate. The induced fit theory says the active site and substrate are able to change shape or
distort for the reaction to take place with (Cooper,

The Non Delegation Doctrine ( Administrative Law )
To start off, one must explain what a full Democracy entails. The Greek word meaning demo means
citizen while kratos means ruled, therefore, the full meaning of democracy is ruled by the citizen(s).
With that being said, a complete democracy would entail citizens directly voting on every piece of
legislation. When citizens can partly vote of legislation and/or they vote in representatives to represent
their interest, it is no longer a pure democracy but rather a democratic republic. A bureaucracy is not
consistent with a democratic republic in one regard: the citizen did not vote to elect him/her into
employment within the government. On the contrary, the citizens did have a right to vote the
representatives that chose to delegate tasks to an agency, which brings me to my next point: the Non
Delegation Doctrine (Administrative Law book). The Non Delegation Doctrine is a strict ideological
belief system that entails that elected officials cannot delegate powers to non elected officials, thereby
making the creation any sort of bureaucratic agency not possible. In a 1928 Supreme Court case
named J. W. Hampton, Jr. Co. v. United States (Administrative Law book) . The Supreme Court
decided that elected officials cannot delegate power to an unelected source unless they provide an
intelligible principle to regulate by. Even with the Supreme Court upholding the characteristics of the
decision of the 1928 Supreme Court case, in an absolute, pure Democracy, a bureaucratic agency

For centuries, humans have successfully dominated the animal kingdom. They have risen above their
own physical characteristics and demolished evolutional boundaries. Like a bird soars and a fish

methods of travel. Humans have been so successful in conquering the mobility and patterns of other
animal species that it has led to the societal succession of humans from the animal kingdom. Although

Jason Wyckoff writes in Toward Justice for Animals , that Until fairly recently, philosophers and
animal advocates have generally treated the question of what we owe to non human animals as an
ethical question, with a primary focus on the treatment of particular animals, rather than as a social or
political question, with a focus on the use, exploitation, commodification, or systematic extermination
of animals. (Wyckoff 539). In other words, humans have only looked into the morality of animal
cruelty on a small scale. Is it right or wrong? If talking about a person killing an animal for no reason,
the answer would be yes. But what about the killing of an animal for a materialistic reason, such as the
skinning of animals for coats, shoes, or fashion accessories? Because this is done on such a large
scale, and has been for a long time, the line between right and wrong has been blurred. Today s society
condemns the illegal hunting of a lion, but keeps quiet on the legal killing of other animals to fulfill
their avaricious needs. This is when the morality of the subject becomes

Our Conflict Within in Leo Tolstoy´s The Death of Ivan Ilych
In his acceptance speech for the 1949 Nobel Prize for Literature, the American laureate writer,
William Faulkner provided insight to what he felt is the only important subject worth writing about;
the human heart in conflict with itself. After reading the entire speech and putting that phrase in
context, I believe he was referring to a shift authors were making at that time in writing about external
forces, which are not universally relevant. William Faulkner believed it more important to write about
the struggles each of us face with the human spirit and the lessons available through reflection. This
struggle or conflict within us creates interest by providing an instrument in which the reader can relate
to what the character is experiencing. I believe this is what draws the reader into the story and keeps
their interest. To help examine this this probability, I have chosen two stories from this course s
reading requirements. The first story I have considered is by Leo Tolstoy titled The Death of Ivan
Ilych .
Sixty three years before Faulkner received his Nobel Prize, Leo Nikolayevich Tolstoy wrote the novel
titled the Death of Ivan Ilych . In this story, Tolstoy tells us of the life of the protagonist Ivan Ilych
Golovin. An unremarkable man in most every way, Ivan is a judge, who values material possessions
and social standing above all else. Ivan s passion lies with his career and the material objects his salary

Specsavers Target Audience
In most advertisements, there are five key components that are addressed. They are: form, purpose,
audience, language and context. The relationship between the audience and the advertisement is
important because time is limited to capture the attention of the potential buyer and display the
product that is being advertised. Repetition, association with celebrities and promotions are all
techniques that are used to capture an audience.
In 2016, Specsavers launched a new advertisement called Fawlty Car, starring the famous British actor
John Cleese from the classic TV show Fawlty Towers. The target audience was for the demographic of
sixty plus; people with poor vision requiring spectacles. It promoted their 25% discount for over sixty
year olds. In many advertisements, celebrities are used to sell many different products. When a
celebrity is in a commercial it can influence customer purchases, build awareness around the product,
attract new buyers and it can even bring new life to a failing brand. In the Specsavers advertisement,
John Cleese was used because he is associated with Fawlty Towers, a hit TV show that over sixty year

The American Dream Of Home Ownership
Too many Americans have fallen victim to the crisis that has become the norm for our citizens these
days. Lenders no longer want to work with individuals who have gone through the foreclosure process
and for many it is not only their homes they lose. Some have lost their jobs and/or families, others fall
into a deep depression and worst of all some have taken their own lives. An alternative would be for
lenders to add a true customer service department which is not based on pay or get out, but is
counseling based to keep Americans in the American Dream of home ownership. This would not only
keep their customers for future business with new home loans, but would be noticed by neighbors and
the community who are appreciative their home values are not decreasing. The lenders would counsel
them through the sale by assisting them with getting the most they can for their home. By getting local
community organizations involved to help with home repairs and curb appeal. Once the home is
market ready and a dollar amount has been reached for these repairs the home owner will have to
volunteer time and/or resources to assist another person going through the same situation. This would
not only help the homeowner but will keep homes in the area selling at a fair market value and not
bring down the values in their neighborhood. The assistance provided by the lenders and assistance
from the community will help build their self confidence and make them feel like they are not alone.

As protons move through liquid water, they ionize or excite atoms or molecules of the matter (water)
and deposit a dose or energy along their path. If a charged particle has a greater energy and moving
faster, it has a lower tendency to lose energy along its path in per unit path length.5 Similarly, at
higher energy, protons move relatively faster and thus ionize and excite fewer molecules, therefore, its
stopping power is lower.5 However, as their energy decrease, protons transfer more energy to the
medium and the stopping power would be higher as shown in Figure 1. Consequently, the stopping
power or LET depends on its energy.5 The energy loss increases towards the end of the range, reaches
a maximum, which is called the Bragg peak, and abruptly drop to zero before the protons stop. The
Bragg peak occurs because the interaction cross section of the medium increases as the proton s

A Study On Growth Mindset Essay
Growth Mindset
Throughout my life I never struggled with having a growth mindset in terms of what I wanted to do
when I grew up. I spent a very large amount of time soaking in all the information I could about
certain professions. That included spent time with cousins and friends who were engineers, interning
at my father s law firm, working for my uncle s electric company, and being a camp counselor with
young children. After a lot of time and a lot of jobs, I still never found that passion that I was looking
for. This could be what they mean when they say someone is burned out . By the time I began working
for my football coach Kevon Bagot (we just called him KB) who was a personal trainer in the
offseason, I had given no thought into being in the fitness industry, nor did I even think about it.
However, it turned out to be my biggest passion and I learned more than I had in my entire life. While
a growth mindset could help one significantly in terms of academics, I found it to be most useful to
learn about myself.
A growth mindset tends to be evident when it is applied to people s passions. Some people find their
passion when they are in elementary school, others do not find them until after they are retired. I
found my own passion going into my junior year in high school. I had become burned out searching
for what I wanted to do with my life in terms of a career. I had spent the previous summer interning

Leon Cooper The Thin Red Line The Film to be shown for Future Generations If Leon Cooper were to watch the film The Thin Red Line, he might actually be moved to tears at how closely accurate the war was portrayed. Similarly the U.S. just sent out more and more troops to battle while the officials are safe back in the U.S. Lastly the way that he handled with the fallen soldiers are ... Granted most people that commute from Madison to Milwaukee of vice versa aren t doing it every day. They are generally just doing it once in a while. The technology of high speed rails is relatively simple; it consists of magnetic tracks repelling the train with a polar opposite magnet on the bottom. This creates a surface with little friction; therefore the train can go faster. A lot of factors come into play when the state thinks of funding this. Governor Walker rejected the funds and cancelled the project in 2010, but there are people that sill have hope. The cost of operation is in the millions per ... For many the hope for high speed rail in the near future in Wisconsin has diminished because of Governor Walker rejected the funds, but Minnesota never stopped planning. Governor walker would have liked to spend the money on other things such as highway systems for the state and other infrastructure. After Wisconsin governor Scott Walker cancelled the funds for the high speed rail program, Minnesota continued planning. They currently are still planning a line from Milwaukee to Minneapolis that would run about 110 mph. Consequentially, it doesn t run through Madison. The route is called the Empire Builder and the state of Minnesota plans to upgrade the line (Ryan). This line wouldn t help commuters between Madison and Milwaukee, but it would make an easy trip from Milwaukee to the Twin Cities. The Uk Constitution And The United States Often the UK constitution is asserted to be the most unique in the world, as its sources are a piece of historical significance as they come from great British heritage. From the case of Jackson and others v Her Majesty s Attorney General, Lord Steyn stated that We do not in the UK have an uncontrolled constitution . In general terms a person may judge the UK constitution to be uncontrolled due to it being unwritten, as it is derived from a wide range of sources. Which vary from common law to international treaties. However on the other side of the spectre, a written constitution is one like the USA s, embodied into a single document. Putting aside the fact that the UK constitution is from a variety of different sources, it must be verified that it has worked successfully to this date from 1689 when the supremacy of parliament over the crown was introduced, following the glorious revolution. It can also be said that, why would the UK constitution be classed as uncontrolled, if it has worked for hundreds of years and it is still going strong. A constitution is generally there for one purpose, it sets out the framework and principal functions of the organs of government and by setting out these functions the UK has been growing and adapting. We in other words have an evolutionary constitution. If it ever came to a time where a written constitution was enacted, it would indeed disrupt the infrastructure of the UK as they are inflexible. The general population merely assumes that people should make an adequate amount of income and never stop to consider the consequences, nor do they stop to consider alternatives. The Poor The primary reason most people give for wanting to increase the minimum wage is that of helping poor people. There are many studies that indicate the benefits are just as numerous as the damage done. According to James Kaz, the majority of those who are paid minimum wage are not poor but rather one of at least one other income providers in a household. Most people working for minimum wage are teenagers...and those used to simply go work for almost nothing for some company or individual in the field they wanted their career . (Kaz02.html) It appears that the poor are done much more damage than good through minimum wage increases. Neumark et al. (1999) provide the following background in that regard: The lower employment occurs mainly because the increase in the cost of low skilled labor, relative to the cost of using other productive inputs (such as machinery or more skilled workers), leads employers away from using low skilled labor and toward these other inputs. This substitution effect is reinforced by the higher overall cost of production associated with the legislated increase in the wage for low skilled workers, which in turn raises the price of the product and results in less output sold. (NA) In addition, there are numerous workers who are adversely affected by a minimum wage change in the fact that they do not receive the full amount of the legislated increase. The North prioritized industry and railroads, while the South remained mostly agricultural. Northern production, transportation networks, and economy drastically out performed the South during the civil war, leading to a Northern victory. Firstly, Massive industrialization in the North meant factories were being built across all states, this explosion of expansion really set the base for how far ahead the North would get from the confederacy. By 1860, 90 percent of the nation s manufacturing output came from northern states (B. Arrington, nps). The Union would also get all of their firearms and clothing necessary for their war effort from these factories. In the South, things were very much the opposite. Slave trade was at an all time high, the amount of farms and plantations growing cash crops were also at a high point. • 26. Samuel De Champlain Was A Better Leader Than Jacques Cartier This essay will explain why Samuel de Champlain was a better leader than Jacques Cartier. Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other, said U.S. President John F. Kennedy. Jacques Cartier and Samuel de Champlain were two French explorers who were the best of the best at what they did. Both men tried to tame the wild snowy beast that we now know as Canada. Both men were greatly respected explorers and leaders: one came to Canada tasked with finding routes through Canada to Asia, and the other man came to establish the fur trade. The debate about who was the better leader is still going on until today, but this essay will try and show that the best leader was Samuel de Champlain. Resilience is an important feature to have as a leader. Both men were cartographers and explorers, but only one had the resilience to remain in the New World and establish and administer a new colony for France. Resilience is important to have as a leader because no one would follow you if you crumble under any sort of pressure or challenge Despite the difficulties of his first few months in the new land, including a very harsh winter and the death of many of the first settlers due to the cold and starvation, Samuel de Champlain traveled back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean 23 times to explore and map the land, and establish and bolster the settlements by bringing back more settlers and materials to trade the aboriginals for furs. • 27. Lab Report On The Effect Of Substrate Concentration On... Introduction The purpose of this lab report is to investigate the effect of substrate concentration on enzyme activity as tested with the enzyme catalase and the substrate hydrogen peroxide at several concentrations to produce oxygen. It was assumed that an increase in hydrogen peroxide concentration would decrease the amount of time the paper circle with the enzyme catalase present on it, sowing an increase in enzyme activity. Therefore it can be hypothesised that there would be an effect on catalase activity from the increase in hydrogen peroxide concentration measured in time for the paper circle to ride to the top of the solution. Enzymes are natural catalysts that work from the ability to increase the rate of reaction by decreasing the activation energy of a reaction. (Blanco, Blanco 2017) An enzyme can do this 10^8 to 10^10 fold, sometimes even 10^15 fold. (Malacinsk, Freifelder 1998) The substrate will momentarily bind with the enzyme making the enzyme substrate complex, of which the shape of the substrate is complimentary to the shape of the active site on the enzyme it is binding with. There are two main theories as to how an enzymes and substrates interact, the lock and key model and induced fit theory. The lock and key model suggests that the enzyme has a specific shape that fits the substrate and only that substrate. The induced fit theory says the active site and substrate are able to change shape or distort for the reaction to take place with (Cooper, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. The Non Delegation Doctrine ( Administrative Law ) To start off, one must explain what a full Democracy entails. The Greek word meaning demo means citizen while kratos means ruled, therefore, the full meaning of democracy is ruled by the citizen(s). With that being said, a complete democracy would entail citizens directly voting on every piece of legislation. When citizens can partly vote of legislation and/or they vote in representatives to represent their interest, it is no longer a pure democracy but rather a democratic republic. A bureaucracy is not consistent with a democratic republic in one regard: the citizen did not vote to elect him/her into employment within the government. On the contrary, the citizens did have a right to vote the representatives that chose to delegate tasks to an agency, which brings me to my next point: the Non Delegation Doctrine (Administrative Law book). The Non Delegation Doctrine is a strict ideological belief system that entails that elected officials cannot delegate powers to non elected officials, thereby making the creation any sort of bureaucratic agency not possible. In a 1928 Supreme Court case named J. W. Hampton, Jr. Co. v. United States (Administrative Law book) . The Supreme Court decided that elected officials cannot delegate power to an unelected source unless they provide an intelligible principle to regulate by. Even with the Supreme Court upholding the characteristics of the decision of the 1928 Supreme Court case, in an absolute, pure Democracy, a bureaucratic agency ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They have risen above their own physical characteristics and demolished evolutional boundaries. Like a bird soars and a fish swims, humans have surpassed their somatic disadvantages and created synthetic versions of these methods of travel. Humans have been so successful in conquering the mobility and patterns of other animal species that it has led to the societal succession of humans from the animal kingdom. Although evolutionally, Homo sapiens share common ancestors with other animals, it is a common belief that humans are in a class of their own, separated from their primitive counterparts. Jason Wyckoff writes in Toward Justice for Animals , that Until fairly recently, philosophers and animal advocates have generally treated the question of what we owe to non human animals as an ethical question, with a primary focus on the treatment of particular animals, rather than as a social or political question, with a focus on the use, exploitation, commodification, or systematic extermination of animals. (Wyckoff 539). In other words, humans have only looked into the morality of animal cruelty on a small scale. Is it right or wrong? If talking about a person killing an animal for no reason, the answer would be yes. But what about the killing of an animal for a materialistic reason, such as the skinning of animals for coats, shoes, or fashion accessories? Because this is done on such a large scale, and has been for a long time, the line between right and wrong has been blurred. Today s society condemns the illegal hunting of a lion, but keeps quiet on the legal killing of other animals to fulfill their avaricious needs. This is when the morality of the subject becomes ... Our Conflict Within in Leo Tolstoy´s The Death of Ivan Ilych In his acceptance speech for the 1949 Nobel Prize for Literature, the American laureate writer, William Faulkner provided insight to what he felt is the only important subject worth writing about; the human heart in conflict with itself. After reading the entire speech and putting that phrase in context, I believe he was referring to a shift authors were making at that time in writing about external forces, which are not universally relevant. William Faulkner believed it more important to write about the struggles each of us face with the human spirit and the lessons available through reflection. This struggle or conflict within us creates interest by providing an instrument in which the reader can relate to what the character is experiencing. I believe this is what draws the reader into the story and keeps their interest. To help examine this this probability, I have chosen two stories from this course s reading requirements. The first story I have considered is by Leo Tolstoy titled The Death of Ivan Ilych . Sixty three years before Faulkner received his Nobel Prize, Leo Nikolayevich Tolstoy wrote the novel titled the Death of Ivan Ilych . In this story, Tolstoy tells us of the life of the protagonist Ivan Ilych Golovin. The relationship between the audience and the advertisement is important because time is limited to capture the attention of the potential buyer and display the product that is being advertised. Repetition, association with celebrities and promotions are all techniques that are used to capture an audience. In 2016, Specsavers launched a new advertisement called Fawlty Car, starring the famous British actor John Cleese from the classic TV show Fawlty Towers. The target audience was for the demographic of sixty plus; people with poor vision requiring spectacles. It promoted their 25% discount for over sixty year olds. In many advertisements, celebrities are used to sell many different products. When a celebrity is in a commercial it can influence customer purchases, build awareness around the product, attract new buyers and it can even bring new life to a failing brand. • 41. The American Dream Of Home Ownership Too many Americans have fallen victim to the crisis that has become the norm for our citizens these days. Lenders no longer want to work with individuals who have gone through the foreclosure process and for many it is not only their homes they lose. Some have lost their jobs and/or families, others fall into a deep depression and worst of all some have taken their own lives. An alternative would be for lenders to add a true customer service department which is not based on pay or get out, but is counseling based to keep Americans in the American Dream of home ownership. This would not only keep their customers for future business with new home loans, but would be noticed by neighbors and the community who are appreciative their home values are not decreasing. The lenders would counsel them through the sale by assisting them with getting the most they can for their home. By getting local community organizations involved to help with home repairs and curb appeal. Once the home is market ready and a dollar amount has been reached for these repairs the home owner will have to volunteer time and/or resources to assist another person going through the same situation. This would not only help the homeowner but will keep homes in the area selling at a fair market value and not bring down the values in their neighborhood. The assistance provided by the lenders and assistance from the community will help build their self confidence and make them feel like they are not alone. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consequently, the stopping power or LET depends on its energy.5 The energy loss increases towards the end of the range, reaches a maximum, which is called the Bragg peak, and abruptly drop to zero before the protons stop.
