How To Use Quote In Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of incorporating quotes into one's writing is no simple task. It
requires a delicate balance of understanding the context, selecting appropriate quotations, and
seamlessly integrating them into the essay. The difficulty lies not only in the technical aspects of
citing and formatting but also in the art of making quotes an integral part of the narrative.
Firstly, one must delve into the subject matter of the essay to identify key points where
quotations can enhance the argument or provide support. Selecting the right quotes that align
with the theme and contribute to the overall coherence of the essay is a nuanced skill. The
challenge is to find quotes that not only support your ideas but also add depth and credibility to
your work.
The process of using quotes in an essay involves more than just dropping them into the text.
Proper citation, adherence to formatting styles, and ensuring that the quotes seamlessly integrate
into the flow of the essay are critical elements. Balancing the use of quotes with one's original
thoughts is an intricate dance that demands finesse to avoid overwhelming the essay with
external voices.
Moreover, understanding the nuances of different citation styles, such as APA, MLA, or
Chicago, adds an additional layer of complexity. Each style has its own set of rules governing
how quotes should be presented, making it essential for the writer to be well-versed in these
guidelines.
In essence, writing an essay on how to use quotes involves navigating a web of technicalities,
literary choices, and the broader context of the essay. It is a task that demands both analytical
thinking and creative finesse to strike the right balance and produce a compelling piece of
writing.
If you find yourself struggling with such essays or any other academic writing tasks, you might
consider seeking assistance. Various online platforms, such asHelpWriting.net, offer services
where you can order essays, research papers, and more. These services can provide valuable
support, especially when faced with complex topics or tight deadlines.

Intake Case Study
Intake Heat Room Procedures: (Room 225) Once accepted into the program:
(Monday Friday) 1.Intake Specialist will be notifying the Front Desk/MSMs about
the individual(s) coming into the Program. At this time, new residents will be given a
set of scrubs, personal hygiene packet, and the opportunity to use the staff restroom to
take a shower. During this time, new residents will still be completing their intake
paperwork and other intake responsibilities; such as, setting up an appointment with
the HSC for their initial physical, retrieving medications and the necessary
documentation needed to complete the intake process. New residents will also be
given an Allowable Items List to use as a guide/sort what personal items they want to
bring... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
New resident will then be placing all his items he came in with (Pants, Shirts,
Boots/Shoes, Jacket/Sweater, etc.) with the rest of his personal possessions
behind the front desk. Once all items have been bagged and tagged, a MSM will be
cataloging the number of bags to each corresponding resident. As soon as all the
new resident s personal belongings have been classified for that day, all labeled
bags will be transported by a MSM into the heat room for the proper treatment
times (ThermaSpot/PackTite Stickers). Picking up personal belongings: 3.New
residents will all be given an established timeframe to pick up their personal
possessions once the proper treatment protocols have been met. It is the
responsibility of the new resident(s) to pick up their items that same day. Front
Desk/MSMs will be signing off for each new resident s personal belongings (on the
established clipboard/log sheet) to ensure that all items are properly turned into the
corresponding resident. Lastly, all new residents joining the program will be
allowed to wash one load of laundry immediately after they receive their personal
items back. ***Please see Policy #17 for further details*** Steps for Daily
Snow White Research Paper
Snow White...was as beautiful as the light of day, even more beautiful than the
queen herself. Snow White s beauty is a recurring theme in both the Disney
animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and in the original Grimm s
fairy tale, Little Snow White. Snow White s beauty is what makes her life change.
As a child, her beauty is what causes her to be in danger, when the huntsman is
ordered to kill Snow white, it is what saves her life, and finally, after Snow White s
death, it is her beauty that causes the prince to want her.
In the original Grimm s fairy tale, Snow White s mother wishes for a child ...as
white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as...wood. Unfortunately, in both the fairy
tale and the Disney movie, Snow White s mother
Energy Consumed by Cloud Computing
With the accelerating adoption of cloud computing, data centers, which serve a pivot
role in cloud computing, are consuming a significant amount of energy. It was
estimated data centers in the USA consumed 61 billion kWh electricity in 2006.
This amount has doubled the consumption in 2000, and was expected to double
again by the end of 2011 [1]. Our in depth analysis on empirical characterization
generates fundamental insights of server energy usage in the context of server
virtualization, including: a significant amount of power is consumed even when the
server is idle, thus opening an opportunity for server consolidation in data centers for
reducing energy cost. A recent study [2] 10 has indicated that the energy
consumption of server is approximately linear to the CPU utilization. This result is
applicable in both DVFS enabled server and
DVFS disabled server. The reasons behind this are (1) the modern server is equipped
multi core processor or multi processor, thus the CPU is the major energy consumed
in servers; (2) although CPU can adjust its frequency to lower the power
consumption, the number of frequency states is limited, moreover
DVFS is not applied to other server components apart from the CPU. The optimal
placement of virtual machine is important for improving power efficiency and
resource utilization in a cloud computing environment. Virtualized servers consume
more energy than physical ones, for both computing and networking

Bob s Zombie Apocalypse
So I think I m being attacked by zombies and I start screaming Do you wanna make
out? And I make out with it. This quote from the hit show Bob s Burgers is a
brilliant representation on just how much the Zombie Apocalypse has evolved, yet
still maintains the fear of being mauled by the undead hordes. Today, various form of
media and literature have taken the classic sense of a zombieinfested world and
turned them upside down. Instead of only having insatiable hunger, they can talk,
walk, and have problems just like their human counterparts. On the flipside, stories
presenting the original zombies still thrive. These two genres are zombies are
presented in movies, books, and tv shows. the contrast within the subgroups and is

The humdrum of normal life gets infected with the infected with little to know
details about why or how it happened. The only scientific conclusion drawn in the
shows 6 seasons is that as soon as you die, bitten or unbitten, you turn. The zombies
in this show are more traditional. They are normal colored decomposing bodies
whose only drive is to rip apart any living creature it can get its hands on. The
zombies have been scene eating people and a wide variety of animals. A bite from
a zombie leads to an illness that eventually kills, and triggers the turn of, whoever
the unlucky victim may be. The only way to stop the bite from infecting a victim
is immediate amputation. The main protagonist is human ex cop Rick and his
gang of survivors. The clear antagonists are the zombies. However, as the series
progressed past the initial years of the apocalypse the zombies almost become a
background threat to the human villains that pop up and wreak havoc. Having
human and zombie s antagonists is the only thing these two shows have in
common. The zombies of IZOMBIE are drained of all color, hunger is only one of
their characteristics, they only eat human brains, and people only turn if they have
direct contact with zombie DNA. Most of them opt to tan and dye, unlike
protagonist Liv Moore, and live their lives under noses of the humans of the city. The

Iron Jawed Angels Analysis
The film Iron Jawed Angels, is about women and their fight for women s ability to
vote. In 1910, Alice Paul and Lucy Burns first met with radical suffragettes
Emmeline Pankhurst and Carrie Chapman Catt, to present their plan of pushing the
women s rights protest to Washington D.C. The plan was looked at as forceful by
Catt, but allowed Paul and Burns to take over the National American of Women s
Suffrage Association (NAWSA). Paul and Burns organized a parade that took place
on the same day as Woodrow Wilson s inauguration. In the film Iron Jawed Angels, I
found it inspiring how women never gave up no matter what obstacle was faced.
I found it inspiring how women kept a strong face when facing danger and
consequences. The fact that even though women were looked at as incapable of
voting, they still fought for change. It was thought to be believed that women s minds
were inferior to men s minds. That adding female votes will cause political danger.
The journal article The Suffragette, is an article written by Robert Afton Holland
about how men and women have distinct orders and roles in society given by
nature. That someone s place in society is determined by their gender and not
themselves as an individual. Holland writes about how if women were allowed the
right to vote, that the amount of lowlifes would increase. Holland mentioned of a
time in Colorado when female admirers would falsely register to vote, allowing a
second vote for their candidate. This investigation
A Discussion Of Madness In Society During The Middle
Ages
The Oxford dictionary defines madness as The state of having a serious mental
illness . Madness has been construed in several different ways throughout centuries
and literature. Before and during the Middle Ages madness was mostly seen as a
suggestion of sorcery/witchcraft or demonic possession, or an imbalance of the
humors blood, black bile, yellow bile and phlegm, or as an effect of the moon
(since it was believed that madness was caused as a result of sleeping in a place
where the moon beams struck a person s head and thereby the word lunacy was
derived from the Latin word luna for moon). However, some considered the mentally
ill to be divinely gifted, that is, being gifted with the power of speech/words (poets,
writers, etc) and thereby the treatment and attitudes towards the mentally ill varied
from exorcism, confinement, trephination (used for people who were thought to be
possessed by demons and involved drilling a hole in the person s head to drive evil
spirits out of the body), whipping, etc. The sixteenth saw the establishment of
asylums and hospitals which accommodated and confined the mentally ill, destitute
and vagabonds, the jobless and the outlaws. All the unwanted people or the
undesirables were shunned by the society and sent to these institutions. St. Mary of
Bethlehem in London which was popularly known as Bedlam and the Hopital
General of Paris were two well known institutions that housed the mentally ill during
the sixteenth and seventeenth
The Supreme Court
The Supreme Court
The purpose of the Supreme Court is to review or address cases that involve issues
on a federal level or of constitutional law, just as appellate courts hear cases on a
state level. Their responsibilities include deciding how to apply the principles of
constitutional law to new matters and issues that arise in today s day to day legal
process; they also play the role of the parent to lower federal appellate courts when
their decisions on legal issues are contradicting to one another, overlap, goes against
constitutional rights, or allows room for confusion as to whose decision takes
precedent. Bottom line the purpose of the Supreme Court is to provide the rules and
statues for state level courts to abide by when they ... Show more content on

In my opinion this rule is of fairness because without drawing the line and having a
court to reach a final decision and establish authority legal matters could stay in
appeal courts for years, constantly being argued and picked apart. The part to the
Supreme Courts process I will disagree with is being able to decide what cases to
hear and the justices serving for life terms. In my opinion both of these factors
allow room for bias and prejudice which should always be one of our constitutional
rights that are highly upheld, giving the supreme Courts random cases to address
during their term, increasing the length of their term allowing for more cases to be
reviewed, and decreasing the term of each judges years of service by switching
justices after a given period of time will allow for justice to be bigger than the
messenger.

Kingdom of Heaven: A Post Colonial Comparison of the Middle East in the 12th and
21st Century
The film Kingdom of Heaven is a dramatized re enactment of the 12th century
Crusades in Jerusalem and aired in theatres worldwide in 2005. In the film, the
Saracens (Muslims) attempt to reclaim Jerusalem from the Christians but were met
with the small and, ultimately, futile resistance organized by the main protagonist
Balian of Ibelin. While considerable efforts have been made to accurately portray
historical events, many elements of the film especially pertaining to the interaction
between Christians and Saracens seem to have been downplayed due to the fear of
backlash following the radical Islam ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Saladin s character in the film was open to negotiations for terms of peace,
exemplified by the scene where the leper king Baldwin IV rode out to meet him
after the incident in Kerak. However, historical evidence points toward the urgency
to defend Egypt as the decisive factor behind the withdrawal at Kerak as opposed to
a conviction towards peaceful resolutions. After the success of the siege of
Jerusalem, Saladin was then seen negotiating the terms of surrender with Balian with
palpable restraint even though Balian threatened to burn Jerusalem to the ground ;
which would have prevented from him an honourable victory. Additionally, Saladin
was also portrayed as particularly merciful as he promised Balian the safe passage
of all Christians out of Jerusalem, when in reality; he not only demanded a ransom
for each Christian s freedom but also forced thousands of them into slavery. The film,
therefore, heavily distorted the portrayal of Saladin as a man almost without religious
motivations and particular attention has been placed to emphasis this trait. In one
scene, Saladin was seen picking up a fallen ornamental cross on the ground and
replacing it on its stand; which reinforces the idea in the audience that Saladin s

Abortion By Judith Jarvis Thomson
Thomson s example shows that he is in support of the woman and her having the
right to say no. She has the right to walk away and say no to the violinist, even if
this means he dies. It is her body, and she did not give the violinist permission to
use it. The woman and the violinist are examples of rape in this case. If a man
physically rapes a woman, and she becomes pregnant, she has a right to an abortion
because she has not given the man or the fetus the right to use her body. Although the
abortion will kill the fetus, the woman s action is not unjust because the fetus did not
have the right to use her body. Now, if the woman voluntarily gave the violinist
permission to use her body for about nine months or years, and halfway through she

completed within the first twenty four hours of the client s arrival. The intake
process begins with consent forms (see Appendix X) that require a signature from

Life Course And Human Development
According to Crawford and Walker(2010), the life course is defined in literature as,
The progression and path an individual takes from conception to death. (Crawford
and walker, 2012, p.3). The study of the life course and human development is
extremely complex and could be described as interdisciplinary as it encompasses
many fields of study. When examining the life course of individuals it is necessary
to consider all of the various factors that affect human behaviour. These may
include; psychological, biological, social, behavioural, cognitive or culture factors.
Age can also be considered as a factor that influences lifespan development. In the
early 19th century, the term age related change was regarded as only applicable to
the early childhood stage but in recent years, psychologists have come to accept that
age related changes occur throughout the entire life span. According to Boyd and Bee
(2014), other earlier theories included Charles Darwin s suggestion that, the wide
variety of life forms that exist on earth evolved gradually as a result of the interplay
between environmental factors and genetic process. (Boyd and Bee, 2014, p.3)
Therefore Darwin proposed that it was either solely, nature or nurture that influenced
the human development, but instead, a combination of both. In this assignment, I am
going to focus on the specific psychological factors that influence human behaviour
during the life course. I will compare two different psychological

The Importance Of Adolescent Privacy In The Media And...
Adolescent privacy is commonly invaded by parents that monitor their children s
media content with the intent to keep them on track. However, are these
observations as helpful as the parents consider it? A few articles and studies show
that while it may be a cautious step from the parents to keep children safe, the lack
of privacy may emit many other emotions and pressures from adolescents that could
make the situations worse (Mullen 166 Padilla Walker et al. 1153). With the use of
case studies and articles, this essay will address the privacy concerns of adolescents
and the importance of regulating media content by parental monitoring. The term
media should be taken in the context of television, video games, social media, and the
internet. I will argue that parental media monitoring can help parents supervise their
children, promote positive behaviour, and provide disciplined upbringing while
maintaining adolescences independence and aiding them to develop advanced
practical skills that will come in use in a media run world. Parental monitoring is one
of the most useful techniques to supervise children s media content in the effort to
protect them from bad influences and wrong decisions; although, the biggest
drawback is that monitoring diminishes privacy for adolescents. Supervision allows
the parents or guardians to control and limit specific content that deems to be
inappropriate for their children, especially in today s generation; for example,
adolescents may be
Meg Whitman Is The Only Woman That Has Lead Two

Background
According to CNBC news (Wachenje et al., 2014) Meg Whitman is the only woman
that has lead two major United States public companies. This phenomenal woman
has had the pleasure of holding the title of CEO for not only eBay but also Hewlett
Packard. Margret Whitman, better known as Meg was born on August 4th, 1956 to
Margret Cushing and Hedrick Hallett Whitman, Jr. in Cold Spring Harbor, New York.
Whitman is the youngest of three children. Her mother was a stay at home mom and
her father ran his own loan business. Whitman graduated high school in 1974 and
from there went on to enroll in Princeton University for her undergraduate education.
Initially Whitman aspired to become a doctor, however, she had difficulty with
chemistry and physics as well as other classes. Whitman took up an interest in
business when she began working for a student magazine in an advertising sales role.
Whitman switched her major and graduated Princeton with a bachelor s degree in
economics. After Princeton, Whitman joined the MBA program at Harvard Business
School and graduated from the program in 1979. She now resides in California with
her husband and her two sons.
Work Experience
Post graduation Whitman was employed by Procter Gamble as a brand manager and
relocated to Cincinnati. After a couple of years in Cincinnati, Whitman married a
neurosurgeon, Griff Harsh, and they relocated to San Francisco so that Harsh could
complete his residency. While in San Francisco, Whitman acquired
Henry Ford Biography
Henry Ford was born July 30, 1863 in Dearborn, Michigan. Ford had a knack for
putting stuff together from an early age. When he was thirteen he received a
pocket watch, he then proceeded to take it apart, and then reassemble it. People
heard about his skill with watches, and started asking him to fix theirs. He even
made his own tools out of nails, and a corset stay. When he got a little older he got a
few boys together to build simple water wheels and steam engines. He gained a lot of
his knowledge about steam engines by becoming friends with the men that ran them.
When he was 16, he realized farming just wasn t for him, and left home to become

encourage him to make a better model. He got together a group of businessmen to
help him with this. He learned how to do everything he did by using trial and error.
His experience with his new business was the same way, but with this method
comes failure which Ford soon learned. He didn t give up easily though, the more
he failed the bigger the risk that he wanted to take. Which is why he began building,
and driving race cars. This brought just the right kind of attention in from the right
kind of people. A few tries later and, Ford established his own company in 1903, Ford
Motor Company. In 1907, he created a four cylinder, known as the Model N. It was
$600, and soon became the best selling car in America. That wasn t enough for
him. He wanted to make a better, cheaper vehicle, in 1908 he released the Ford
Model T. This model was made with nine different body styles. Soon, half of all
the cars in America would be the Model T s. Later, the company would move to a
bigger factory. He wanted to increase production and lower cost. He began
observing many different kinds of jobs, and combined the ideas he got from them
with his own, and soon got the idea of a moving assembly line for automobiles. He
wasn t the first to think of the assembly line, but he was the first to think of it to

The Criminological Theory For Mike Tyson
The criminological theory for Mike Tyson is a classical theory. The criminological

and he received it. That falls under the category of when you pursue self interest. In
many or almost all cases of rape it seems like it is self interest. Once you commit
rape you should know that there will be consequences if you are caught. But, in
Mike Tyson case he claims that she gave him consent to have sex with the young
female. So that believed Mike Tyson to not suffer any consequence because she
gave him permission. The classical theory also applies to Mike Tyson because it also

Why Gangs Can Be Harmful At Risk Youth
Gangs are not a new phenomenon, or a new problem. Gangs have been around for
a long time, and will continue to grow and transform throughout the world. I have
viewed gangs in a negative manner, and have carried a false misconception of what
exactly a gang is. Television and media is partially to blame for society s view on
gangs and gangviolence. Today, there are dozens of reality television shows about
gangs. It is no surprise the information that we take in through television on the
topic of gangs is misleading. Gangs can be a problem, especially gangs that are
active in violence, and criminality. The problem here is there is no research that
suggests that there is a policy that will address the gang problem, or a preventative
measure that produces results. Through research, I will define what a gang is, why
gangs can be harmful to at risk youth, what prevention programs accomplish, and the
efficacy of prevention programs. I will also determine which of prevention programs
has the highest level of effectiveness.
Gangs go way back in time, and have been around for longer than most of us know.
Even Newspapers during the economic collapse in the 1800s reports juveniles
harassing and assaulting residents of the city. (Grennan, Britz, Rush, Barker, 2000).
Since gangs have been around, there have always been theoretical explanations of the
social problems that goes hand and hand with gangs. A false representation of gangs
that I have heard many students talk about it the
Prions Cause Fatal Neurological Diseases in the Brain of...
Prions cause diseases, but they aren t viruses or bacteria or fungi or parasites, but
proteinaceous infectious particles, an abnormal form of a normally harmless protein
found in the brain causing variety of fatal neurological diseases of both animals and
humans. They are the ones that cause the well known mad cow disease in Britain and
Scarpie for animals. Prions act slowly, and are virtually indestructible.
Prions enter the brain through infection, or they can arise from mutations in the gene
that encodes the protein. When a prion (misfolded form of protein normally present
in brain cells) enters a cell with a normal protein structure, the prion converts the
normal protein structures into a misfolded prion version. Many prions continue to
add up forming a complex that converts other protein structures to prions. When all
the prions add up they interfere with normal cellular functions and cause disease
symptoms. Prions can also spread from one organism to another. They can be
transmitted in food, as may occur when people eat prion laden beef from cattle with
mad cow disease.
Prion like proteins are normal proteins with similar prion like domains which may
also be involved in diseases of the brain or other organs. Seeded protein aggregation
will lead to many more diseases of the brain. In contrast to prions being simple
infection in yeast cells prion forming proteins initiate cell process such as the central
dogma. The prion like proteins may not be widely pathogenic

To His Coy Mistress by Marvell states the idea that if people want to fall in love

those huge words in the parallelism and contradiction to create how good the time

The Domestication Of Cats
Cats are domestic animals who have lived with humans for a long period of time.
They are very popular pets in the world it is estimated that there is over 70 million
cats in just the U.S. The exact origination of these popular animals is unknown but
information of the creature can be traced back to Middle East about 9,500 years ago.
A catskeleton was found in southern Cyprus that matches with that time period. In
China as well about 5,300 years ago traces of the animal were found. They ate any
food they could find such as rodents and millets. It wasn t until the 5th and 6th
dynasties of China when the cat was declared a sacred and holy animal. However it

Essay On The Causes Of Obesity In America
American s are suffering from an epidemic today called obesity. Contributors to the
obesity problem are overly large portions of food served to Americans. Also, a lack
of physical activity adds to obesity, spending hours in front of a television or
computer. Advertisements contribute to Americans over weight problems by pushing
high calorie high fat foods. Major healthproblems caused by obesity are high blood
pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.
First, obesity can cause high blood pressure in Americans. Overweight individuals are
more likely to develop high blood pressure than individuals with average weight.
The added fat tissue in the body creates a need for additional blood to circulate
through the body. As a result, of this added blood flow there is extra pressure on
the artery walls of the heart. With this higher pressure on the artery walls a person
s blood pressure rises. Since, there is increased pressure on the heart it causes the
heart to grow larger. When the heart grows larger, it loses some of its ability to
squeeze blood through the heart valves. So, this extra weight impedes the body s
ability to transport blood through the blood vessels. ... Show more content on

Overweight people can have a buildup of plaque inside the coronary arteries that
can lead to heart disease. In effect, this buildup of plaque can lead to high
cholesterol. High cholesterol will narrow the arteries and reduce blood flow that
can cause chest pain. Also, narrowed arteries can form blood clots that lead to heart
diseases. A heart attack can happen when the body cannot pump enough blood to
supply the body in an obese individual. Since, heart attacks, strokes or even death
can be the results of a person suffering from obesity. Being overweight can cause the
heart valves to malfunction. As a result, this malfunction does not allow the valves to
close completely and can lead to heart failure. An individual that is obese is at a
higher risk of heart

How are fire scenes different than regular crime scenes for investigators? They are
different than regular crime scenes because fire scenes have a different procedure.
Plus, most fires scenes don t require a search warrant. This is because it can take a
long time to get a search warrant but with fire scenes it is crucial to get the
evidence as soon as possible because causes of the fire, like petroleum, can
evaporate within days, or even hours of the fire. Also, they need to know how to
prevent the fire from starting again and possibly injuring fire fighters or other
emergency responders.
What is the blast effect? The blast effect is the outward rush of gases from the bomb

Do you think search warrants should be required for fire scenes? Why or why not?
Search warrants are not required for fire scenes because the evidence at fire scene
needs to be collected as soon as possible because it is important to determine where
a fire started and why in order to prevent the fire from starting again and possibly
injuring fire fighters or other emergency responders. This wouldn t be possible if we
had to wait more than a couple hours for a search warrant.
Do you think more countries should adopt the practice of putting color coded chips
in explosive materials? Why or why not? I absolutely agree with the adaption of
putting color coded chips in explosives. These chips allow forensic scientists to track
down viable information about the explosive that will help find the culprit
responsible for the explosion.
Why do you think crime scenes involving homemade bombs have increased? I think
homemade bomb crime scenes are increasing because of the opportunities we now
have. This includes the internet, which tells us how to make the bomb, and stores
that sell and/or produce the supplies for making the bombs.
Why do you think the procedures are different from normal crime scenes to those
involving fire and explosions? What benefits or challenges are there because of these
different procedures? I think the procedures are different from normal crime scenes
to those involving fire and explosions
Essay about Death of a Naturalist Analysis
Death of a Naturalist
The poem, like Seamus Heaney s work, is very nature minded in terms of context.
However, he describes the frogs in a very evil, sinister, and menacing way. It is
about a child who collects frog spawn from the dam and collects it in jars. He is
innocent and unaware of the evil that lurks in the frog spawn. We can see in the
poem that the boy is young, when he remembers his teacher teaching him about the
frogs, and his way of calling the frogs Daddy frog and Mammy Frog .
The poem heavily appeals to the senses, which describes the more sinister parts of
nature. Because when people think of nature they usually think of the more beautiful
parts of it (e.g. mountains etc.) The poems appeal to senses shows how filthy ... Show

Words like slap, pop, slobber, farting, and croaked illustrates the realism of how the
flax dam is. The use of using onomatopoeia is to describe the nature and the
surroundings, and to show the uncertainty that is going through the boy s mind in the
second stanza. Sibilant sounds are also used in the poem. Words like slap, slime, sods,
and spawn show the uncertainty and the tension that the boy is under. Heaney also
uses stop sounds to show his frightful and uncertain mood (Bluebottles, Poised,
Grenades, Mud, Farting, Blunt, Kings, Vengeance etc). This stops the reader from
flowing which gives a sense of uncertainty.
Heaney uses the description of the frogs to convey the uncertainty that the boy is
feeling. He describes the frogs as ...angry , ...gross bellied (which also uses stop
sounds). They are described as having ...loose necks and ...blunt heads, farting . This
is used to describe the boy s abhorrence he has for the frogs. He refers to the frogs as
...great slime kings , which shows, in the boy s imagination, that the frogs are
rebellious and that they have ...turned on him, seeking ...for vengeance . Another
technique which Heaney uses to convey the frogs rebellious actions are using war
terms about them. He depicts them as ...mud grenades and that they ...invaded the
flax dam. This portrays the conflict that is going on between the boy and the frogs, or
in a contextual way, how Northern Ireland is in conflict.

Best Practices in Protecting PII Data Essay example
Abstract
I have decided to write a research paper on the importance of protecting personally

vital importance to me since I work with PII data frequently and must be prepared

The reasons for this are varied. One of the major factors that prevent full federal
protection is that states have broad ways of defining what is considered personally
identifiable information. For instance, take a state like Connecticut: their state laws
consider an account number as a personal identifier (Wright, 2009). Let s say a
church sponsored a bake sale and someone bought a cupcake from that church. If the
church happened to log that sale with a unique number, say, S101, where S is the first
initial of the buyer and the number is a one up sales number, that church would then
fall under the provisions of the Connecticut state law and may be required to protect
that customer s identity. Other states have varying definitions as to what PII is. The
most robust PII protections in the country exist in the state of California, making PII
a protected right and allowing anyone that interacts with that data to appropriately
protect and reasonably notify affected people of any potential security breaches
(Wikipedia, n.d.).
There exists many different definitions of PII and its applications and provisions are
as vast as there are states in the union. Later, an example of a

Portrayal of Machines During the Industrial Revolution

Portrayal of Machines During the Industrial Revolution Intuitively, we believe the
portrayal of the machine in popular image making during the Industrial Revolution
became increasingly critical as time went on. With the building up of urban areas and
unfurling of train tracks across the countryside, people s lives were forever changed
by the machine. Probing more deeply into the conceptualization of the machine, we
view the role of the machine from the perspective of distinct socioeconomic classes.

interest was focused on the emerging narrative of the train (Perry, 335). From

the vaulted cathedral ceilings sit comfortably amongst the semi pastoral, English

country life. There is no working class pinned before the relentless speed of a

painter. From this picture of peaceful interaction of nature and technology, the elite
class gains satisfaction in the splendid capabilities of mankind. As the philosophers

Research Paper On Wigs
History shows Egyptians wearing wigs, but those of means had human hair sewn
into their own hair. Powdered wigs graced royal heads during the (), and the
elaborate hairstyles of the Victorian, Edwardian and the Gilded Age were artistic
creations that were impossible without hair pieces. For every era there are elaborate
techniques for adding hairwhere needed or desired and as styles repeat themselves,
ancient hair weaving techniques have returned as today s hair extensions. Millions of
women will spend time and money on chemical curls, permanent relaxers and dyes to
hide age or draw attention. While these maneuvers change the hair s appearance, they
do not change the one thing that many men watch for, the length.
Wigs give their wearers immediate gratification, but wig caps can be drying,
inexpensive synthetic wigs can look unnatural, and human hair wigs can be too
expensive. Add the wear and tear of having a wig s cap rubbing against the hair and
length gained through patience can be lost to breakage. When modern women
consider temporary length, hair extensions are often the answer. However, choosing
high quality, human hair extensions means understanding human hair itself. Each
strand of hair is made three layers of a protein called Keratin. The medulla is the

The Pros And Cons Of Negligence
Introduction.
Negligence is a central topic in the vast area of Law Tort. It is largely due to
Negligence being by far most practiced by Tort lawyers with huge number of
litigations each year. As per Sir Percy Henry Winfield:
Negligence is the breach of a legal duty to take care which results in damage,
undesired by the Defendant to the Claimant.
In other words, it is a failure to exercise that degree of care, when law requires for
the purpose of protection of individuals, their properties and their financial interests.
A duty of care is a legal obligation to safeguard individuals who can be considered

the junction in safe to use order, and therefore were liable. In the court of first

An Image of Africa Essay
An Image of Africa Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad has been depicted as
among the half dozen greatest short novels in the English language. [pg.1] Chinua
Achebe believes otherwise. In Chinua Achebe s An Image of Africa: Racism is
Conrad s Heart of Darkness he simply states that, Joseph Conrad was a
thoroughgoing racist [pg.5] Achebe argues that the racist observed in the Heart of
Darkness is expressed due to the western psychology or as Achebe states desire,
this being to show Africa as an antithesis to Europe. He first states Conrad as one of
the great stylists of modern fiction. [pg.1] He praises Conrad s talents in writing but

3] Achebe believes that Conrad deliberately showed Mr. Kurtz s mistress as a
savage counterpart to the refined, European woman. [pg.4] As he moves into more
detail of the difference, he moves into the subject of the black s lack of speech. He
states that It is clearly not part of Conrad s purpose to confer language on the
rudimentary souls of Africa. [pg. 4] Instead of speech they are represented with
sounds (i.e. grunting). My first critique was that of the blacks lack of speech,
where Conrad presents speech on the motorboat. Interestingly enough, Achebe
analyzes these points as, at first, being acts of generosity from Conrad. [pg.5] But,
later states their purpose as showing the Europeans their unspeakable craving
[pg.5] or cannibalism. I do however disagree with this viewpoint. Though initially
the speech of the cannibals can be viewed as some of his best assaults, [pg.5] the
actions of the cannibals speak louder than their words. The cannibals restraint
towards eating humans in the novel shows them in a positive light. If you view
Africa as a whole, both blacks and whites should be viewed the same. Mr. Kurtz,
being an example, can also be viewed as a cannibal as it is strongly believed by the
Company that he has become a savage, like the Africans. My point being that the
blacks confining from eating humans, does not show Conrad s as a racist but quite
the contrary. Mr. Kurtz s involvement of the African customs and beliefs
Kate Attract In Kate Chopin s The Storm
Kate Chopin s The Storm suggests, through the use of characterization, climax, and

demonstrates that the storm which rages within us can be particularly greater than

many ways the storm mirrors the passionate encounter between Calixta and AlcГ©e

Fortier, who had knowledge of McVeigh s plan concerning the bombing Of the
Oklahoma Federal Building, agreed to give testimony against both Timothy
McVeigh and Terry Nichols in exchange for a lighter jail sentence. Both Timothy
McVeigh along with Terry Nichols had received indictments on murder charges as
well as using explosives in an unlawful manner. McVeigh s ideology changed from
hating governments that were foreign communists to a lack of trust in the United
States government with Bill Clinton being the President during that time frame.
Both McVeigh and Nichols along with their members became radicalized following
events of a shoot out that took place in August 1992 between survivalist Randy

A Report On Australian Auto Manufacturing Industry
Executive Summary
The Government of Australia granted $500 million every year to car manufacturing
industry in Australia. Australian auto manufacturing industry confronts a genuine
unverifiable future. In the present day, Australia produces just 225,000 engine
vehicles. This is an industry that depends intensely on the economies of scale and it
is of prime significance to accomplish costs competitiveness, in any case it is the
present volume that is to a great degree disillusioning. This likewise controls interests
in upgrading innovations in auto assembling, for example, propelled mechanical
autonomy. With the verifiable ascent in the Australian dollar trade rates, the industry
is experiencing focused weight as far as less expensive imports and fare
competitiveness. Additionally there are a few protectionist arrangements in
numerous noteworthy and vital export destinations that stand to hamper the export.
For instance, in spite of the extremely fruitful Thailand Australian Free exchange
Agreement, the Thai Government forces a non levy obligation. This makes the
domain s cost in Thailand extremely unappealing.

Review Of The Jati

The Jati
Thousands of years ago in Asia, a book was written that gave social structure that
would go on through the ages in India. Today that social structure is called the Jati or
in English words, the Caste system. While it has undergone a few changes here and
there, the system has relatively been unchanged and just like thousands of years ago
when it was first introduced in the Vedas, it exists in modern day India as a part of
society in it. This paper will go over a more detailed explanation of the Jati as well
as the classes and books that defined the Jati system, most notably the Laws of
Mandu . Jati translates to caste so in English it is called the Caste system. In the
Jati system there are four main castes one falls under: Shudra, Viasya, Kshatryia
and Bhramin. Outside of the caste system are the outcasts or also called
untouchables. Within these main four castes there are thousands of subcastes a
group of people will fall under. One important thing to note where unlike most
social classes of ancient time, in the Jati system, it is possible to move up in the
caste. While a subcaste may not move up as an individually, the entire group can
move up. So while there is subcaste A and subcaste B. While Subcaste B is
currently higher up on the caste it is possibly for subcaste A as a whole to move up
above subcaste B. This is the beauty of the Jati system, groups are not permanently
logged into one place
Protest Songs And Its Effect On Social Change
For many centuries, music has been an unwavering force in society, offering
entertainment for various ceremonies and events, while also providing an outlet for
creative expression. Most people see the entertainment factor in music, but fail to
realize the power music has to influence social change. One way that music inspires
social change is through protest songs. Most songwriters agree that protest songs are
written because circumstances demand engagement and things can no longer be left
unsaid (Haslam). Protest songs have been prominent for centuries in the United States
, but one decade that they are closely associated with is the 1960s. This was a time
when America was faced with much controversy and division. The protest music
performed by folk artist and social activist Peter Seeger empowered oppressed
individuals during the 1960s to stand against social norms by acknowledging social
issues in society, advocating his personal beliefs, and convincing his audience that it
was acceptable to have varying opinions. The 1960s were a time in history in which
the United States was filled with much disillusionment; however, the 1960s were a
time of hope. It was a decade unlike any other, where everyday individuals thought
they could change the world and were willing to put themselves in physical danger to
see that change happen (Cassity 13). The 1960s offered disposition for multiple
scenarios Civil Rights, Vietnam War, Feminism, Pollution which led to artists such as

A Multicultural society. A place where many different nationalities join together and
appreciate their uniqueness. One would think is the less cliche version of everyone
joining hands and singing the comballa. The United States founded solid by almost
fully European man is one of the best examples of a multicultural society. Yes that s
what everyone would like to think. Perhaps that was the initial idea when the country
started to slowly become less white and more diversity. However this pure unity is an
state of illusion created by everyone. According to the definition giving by the
Cambridge Dictionary multiculturalism is when relating to a number of different
cultures, esp. to the traditions of people of different religions and races Does the
United States have many different cultures within its land? Yes of course but does
everyone acts as if they live in a
Examples Of Cantos In Dantes Inferno
Complementary Cantos Dante Alighieri s Divine Comedy can be successfully read
straight through as a continuous story. However, he skillfully connects verses and
cantos to each other throughout the books, adding meaning and depth to his story.
Dante s choice to make his work interdependent on other points throughout his text
drives home greater significance of the series in a way that is similar to that which
the Bible uses. The Bible also contains verses that relate to other books within its
pages. Dante reinforces his status as a Christian author by emulating the model of
the religion s holy text. An example of interconnectedness in Dante s work can be
found in the third canto of each of the books in the Divine Comedy: Inferno,
Purgatorio, and Paradiso. He uses various elements to connect these cantos together
and increase potential analysis and meaning of the text. The beginning of canto III in
Inferno and Purgatorio both talk about justice (Inferno III: 4, Purgatorio III: 3). In
Inferno, justice is mentioned because it is one of the reasons Hellcame into existence.

In Hell, Dante shows his reliance on Virgil as he asks for an explanation of the
sign above the gate of Hell (Inferno III: 11 12). In Purgatory, where Virgil feels
inadequate, Dante expresses his appreciation for Virgil. Dante questions how
would [he] have come this far without him? (Purgatorio III: 5). Looking back at
canto III of Inferno, Dante would have struggled to even get past the gate of Hell
without him. While Dante acknowledges Virgil s help and recognizes the value of
his navigator, Beatrice disclosed to [Dante] the lovely face of truth (Paradiso III: 3).
While Virgil directs Dante, Beatrice gives Dante answers Virgil never could. Though
Beatrice and Virgil both just aided him along the way to his ultimate
First Playoff Of The Pakistan Super League ( Psl )
Take a bow, PSL Is there a better sight in sport than an underdog summoning the
form of his life against all odds to push his team across the finish line? I do not
think so. This is exactly why the first playoff of the Pakistan Super League (PSL)
pitting the Peshawar Zalmi against Quetta Gladiators on February 19 was so
satisfying. It had enough drama and plot twists to appease the most demanding
punters. The PSL is a resounding success for a whole range of reasons, but to me,
the last 20 minutes of this game encapsulated what is means to be a cricket fan in
Pakistan and how international fixtures are poorer for not playing to packed
stadiums in Karachi, Lahore or Rawalpindi. As fortunes seesawed in the
homestretch, unsurprising since both Zalmi and Gladiators were easily the best
teams through the tournament, cameras cut to rapt audience members revealing
why the PSL is here to stay. In a Dubai Cricket Stadium heaving with emotion, a
sizable number of patrons had their hands clasped in earnest prayer as both teams
duked it out in the middle. The charged atmosphere felt like an India Pakistan
contest! The Gladiators eventually pipped Zalmi by a single run and their success
came courtesy of right arm quick Aizaz Cheema s brisk jog up redemption road.
Leading up to that magic final over, Cheema had dished out a series of indifferent
half trackers and low full tosses that got clattered for plenty. Even Zalmi tail ender

Holocaust Survivors Essay
Holocaust Survivors
Who survived the holocaust? What are their lives like today? What has been the
government s response towards those who survived after World War II? Have the
survivors kept their faith? How has the survivors next generation been affected? The
survivors of the holocaust were deeply effected by the trauma they encountered. This
unforgettable experience influenced their lives, those around them, and even their
descendants.
When the infamous Hitler began his reign in Germany in 1933, 530,000 Jews were
settled in his land. In a matter of years the amount of Jews greatly decreased. After
World War II, only 15,000 Jews remained. This small population of Jews was a result
of inhumane killings and also the fleeing of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A voluntary relief organization was issued. This group collected food, clothing,
and other goods to help those persecuted Jews get back on their feet. They also
offered special housing to allow the survivors a place to start again. Along with this
relief program, a new legislation was created to return confiscated Jewish assets to
their lawful owners. The German government even began paying the returning
victims $1,500 to show their sympathy. Though these programs helped Jews,
Germans needed to develop a new attitude to earn respect from the Jews. To state the
government s new intentions in writing, Article III was created and added to the
German constitution, called the Grundgesetz. This addition solemnly proclaimed the
equality of all men before the law: no one could be discriminated against because of
sex, race, nationality, ethnic origins, faith, or political views . However, most
Germans and Jews wanted action, instead of merely a declaration of what should be
done. In order to take action towards their goal of equality, the whole community
needed education in the spirit of human and religious tolerance . 3
The holocaust greatly effected the population of the Jews and their families. The Jew
mortality rate after the second World War was two times that of the general German
population. This was due to health problems provoked during the holocaust and the
persecution on their will to

How To Use Quote In Essay

  • 1. How To Use Quote In Essay Crafting an essay on the intricacies of incorporating quotes into one's writing is no simple task. It requires a delicate balance of understanding the context, selecting appropriate quotations, and seamlessly integrating them into the essay. The difficulty lies not only in the technical aspects of citing and formatting but also in the art of making quotes an integral part of the narrative. Firstly, one must delve into the subject matter of the essay to identify key points where quotations can enhance the argument or provide support. Selecting the right quotes that align with the theme and contribute to the overall coherence of the essay is a nuanced skill. The challenge is to find quotes that not only support your ideas but also add depth and credibility to your work. The process of using quotes in an essay involves more than just dropping them into the text. Proper citation, adherence to formatting styles, and ensuring that the quotes seamlessly integrate into the flow of the essay are critical elements. Balancing the use of quotes with one's original thoughts is an intricate dance that demands finesse to avoid overwhelming the essay with external voices. Moreover, understanding the nuances of different citation styles, such as APA, MLA, or Chicago, adds an additional layer of complexity. Each style has its own set of rules governing how quotes should be presented, making it essential for the writer to be well-versed in these guidelines. In essence, writing an essay on how to use quotes involves navigating a web of technicalities, literary choices, and the broader context of the essay. It is a task that demands both analytical thinking and creative finesse to strike the right balance and produce a compelling piece of writing. Intake Case Study Intake Heat Room Procedures: (Room 225) Once accepted into the program: (Monday Friday) 1.Intake Specialist will be notifying the Front Desk/MSMs about the individual(s) coming into the Program. At this time, new residents will be given a set of scrubs, personal hygiene packet, and the opportunity to use the staff restroom to take a shower. During this time, new residents will still be completing their intake paperwork and other intake responsibilities; such as, setting up an appointment with the HSC for their initial physical, retrieving medications and the necessary documentation needed to complete the intake process. New residents will also be given an Allowable Items List to use as a guide/sort what personal items they want to bring... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... New resident will then be placing all his items he came in with (Pants, Shirts, Boots/Shoes, Jacket/Sweater, etc.) with the rest of his personal possessions behind the front desk. Once all items have been bagged and tagged, a MSM will be cataloging the number of bags to each corresponding resident. As soon as all the new resident s personal belongings have been classified for that day, all labeled bags will be transported by a MSM into the heat room for the proper treatment times (ThermaSpot/PackTite Stickers). Picking up personal belongings: 3.New residents will all be given an established timeframe to pick up their personal possessions once the proper treatment protocols have been met. It is the responsibility of the new resident(s) to pick up their items that same day. Front Desk/MSMs will be signing off for each new resident s personal belongings (on the established clipboard/log sheet) to ensure that all items are properly turned into the corresponding resident. Lastly, all new residents joining the program will be allowed to wash one load of laundry immediately after they receive their personal items back. ***Please see Policy #17 for further details*** Steps for Daily

Snow White s beauty is a recurring theme in both the Disney animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and in the original Grimm s fairy tale, Little Snow White. Snow White s beauty is what makes her life change. As a child, her beauty is what causes her to be in danger, when the huntsman is ordered to kill Snow white, it is what saves her life, and finally, after Snow White s death, it is her beauty that causes the prince to want her. In the original Grimm s fairy tale, Snow White s mother wishes for a child ...as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as...wood. Unfortunately, in both the fairy tale and the Disney movie, Snow White s mother
  • 4. Energy Consumed by Cloud Computing With the accelerating adoption of cloud computing, data centers, which serve a pivot role in cloud computing, are consuming a significant amount of energy. It was estimated data centers in the USA consumed 61 billion kWh electricity in 2006. This amount has doubled the consumption in 2000, and was expected to double again by the end of 2011 [1]. Our in depth analysis on empirical characterization generates fundamental insights of server energy usage in the context of server virtualization, including: a significant amount of power is consumed even when the server is idle, thus opening an opportunity for server consolidation in data centers for reducing energy cost. A recent study [2] 10 has indicated that the energy consumption of server is approximately linear to the CPU utilization. This result is applicable in both DVFS enabled server and DVFS disabled server. The reasons behind this are (1) the modern server is equipped multi core processor or multi processor, thus the CPU is the major energy consumed in servers; (2) although CPU can adjust its frequency to lower the power consumption, the number of frequency states is limited, moreover DVFS is not applied to other server components apart from the CPU. The optimal placement of virtual machine is important for improving power efficiency and resource utilization in a cloud computing environment. Virtualized servers consume more energy than physical ones, for both computing and networking intensive

This quote from the hit show Bob s Burgers is a brilliant representation on just how much the Zombie Apocalypse has evolved, yet still maintains the fear of being mauled by the undead hordes. Today, various form of media and literature have taken the classic sense of a zombieinfested world and turned them upside down. Instead of only having insatiable hunger, they can talk, walk, and have problems just like their human counterparts. On the flipside, stories presenting the original zombies still thrive. The humdrum of normal life gets infected with the infected with little to know details about why or how it happened. The only scientific conclusion drawn in the shows 6 seasons is that as soon as you die, bitten or unbitten, you turn. The zombies in this show are more traditional. They are normal colored decomposing bodies whose only drive is to rip apart any living creature it can get its hands on. The zombies have been scene eating people and a wide variety of animals. A bite from a zombie leads to an illness that eventually kills, and triggers the turn of, whoever the unlucky victim may be. The only way to stop the bite from infecting a victim is immediate amputation. The main protagonist is human ex cop Rick and his gang of survivors. The clear antagonists are the zombies. However, as the series progressed past the initial years of the apocalypse the zombies almost become a background threat to the human villains that pop up and wreak havoc. Having human and zombie s antagonists is the only thing these two shows have in common. The zombies of IZOMBIE are drained of all color, hunger is only one of their characteristics, they only eat human brains, and people only turn if they have direct contact with zombie DNA. Most of them opt to tan and dye, unlike protagonist Liv Moore, and live their lives under noses of the humans of the city. The manage this for a year before being

  • 7. Iron Jawed Angels Analysis The film Iron Jawed Angels, is about women and their fight for women s ability to vote. In 1910, Alice Paul and Lucy Burns first met with radical suffragettes Emmeline Pankhurst and Carrie Chapman Catt, to present their plan of pushing the women s rights protest to Washington D.C. The plan was looked at as forceful by Catt, but allowed Paul and Burns to take over the National American of Women s Suffrage Association (NAWSA). Paul and Burns organized a parade that took place on the same day as Woodrow Wilson s inauguration. In the film Iron Jawed Angels, I found it inspiring how women never gave up no matter what obstacle was faced. I found it inspiring how women kept a strong face when facing danger and consequences. The fact that even though women were looked at as incapable of voting, they still fought for change. It was thought to be believed that women s minds were inferior to men s minds. That adding female votes will cause political danger. The journal article The Suffragette, is an article written by Robert Afton Holland about how men and women have distinct orders and roles in society given by nature. That someone s place in society is determined by their gender and not themselves as an individual. Holland writes about how if women were allowed the right to vote, that the amount of lowlifes would increase. Holland mentioned of a time in Colorado when female admirers would falsely register to vote, allowing a second vote for their candidate. This investigation
  • 8. A Discussion Of Madness In Society During The Middle Ages The Oxford dictionary defines madness as The state of having a serious mental illness . Madness has been construed in several different ways throughout centuries and literature. Before and during the Middle Ages madness was mostly seen as a suggestion of sorcery/witchcraft or demonic possession, or an imbalance of the humors blood, black bile, yellow bile and phlegm, or as an effect of the moon (since it was believed that madness was caused as a result of sleeping in a place where the moon beams struck a person s head and thereby the word lunacy was derived from the Latin word luna for moon). However, some considered the mentally ill to be divinely gifted, that is, being gifted with the power of speech/words (poets, writers, etc) and thereby the treatment and attitudes towards the mentally ill varied from exorcism, confinement, trephination (used for people who were thought to be possessed by demons and involved drilling a hole in the person s head to drive evil spirits out of the body), whipping, etc. The sixteenth saw the establishment of asylums and hospitals which accommodated and confined the mentally ill, destitute and vagabonds, the jobless and the outlaws. All the unwanted people or the undesirables were shunned by the society and sent to these institutions. St. Mary of Bethlehem in London which was popularly known as Bedlam and the Hopital General of Paris were two well known institutions that housed the mentally ill during the sixteenth and seventeenth
  • 9. The Supreme Court The Supreme Court The purpose of the Supreme Court is to review or address cases that involve issues on a federal level or of constitutional law, just as appellate courts hear cases on a state level. Their responsibilities include deciding how to apply the principles of constitutional law to new matters and issues that arise in today s day to day legal process; they also play the role of the parent to lower federal appellate courts when their decisions on legal issues are contradicting to one another, overlap, goes against constitutional rights, or allows room for confusion as to whose decision takes precedent. Bottom line the purpose of the Supreme Court is to provide the rules and statues for state level courts to abide by when they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my opinion this rule is of fairness because without drawing the line and having a court to reach a final decision and establish authority legal matters could stay in appeal courts for years, constantly being argued and picked apart. The part to the Supreme Courts process I will disagree with is being able to decide what cases to hear and the justices serving for life terms. In my opinion both of these factors allow room for bias and prejudice which should always be one of our constitutional rights that are highly upheld, giving the supreme Courts random cases to address during their term, increasing the length of their term allowing for more cases to be reviewed, and decreasing the term of each judges years of service by switching justices after a given period of time will allow for justice to be bigger than the messenger. • 10. Religion In Kingdom Of Heaven Phua Kuan Chong, Shawn5009 9185(L02) Kingdom of Heaven: A Post Colonial Comparison of the Middle East in the 12th and 21st Century The film Kingdom of Heaven is a dramatized re enactment of the 12th century Crusades in Jerusalem and aired in theatres worldwide in 2005. In the film, the Saracens (Muslims) attempt to reclaim Jerusalem from the Christians but were met with the small and, ultimately, futile resistance organized by the main protagonist Balian of Ibelin. While considerable efforts have been made to accurately portray historical events, many elements of the film especially pertaining to the interaction between Christians and Saracens seem to have been downplayed due to the fear of backlash following the radical Islam ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Saladin s character in the film was open to negotiations for terms of peace, exemplified by the scene where the leper king Baldwin IV rode out to meet him after the incident in Kerak. However, historical evidence points toward the urgency to defend Egypt as the decisive factor behind the withdrawal at Kerak as opposed to a conviction towards peaceful resolutions. After the success of the siege of Jerusalem, Saladin was then seen negotiating the terms of surrender with Balian with palpable restraint even though Balian threatened to burn Jerusalem to the ground ; which would have prevented from him an honourable victory. Additionally, Saladin was also portrayed as particularly merciful as he promised Balian the safe passage of all Christians out of Jerusalem, when in reality; he not only demanded a ransom for each Christian s freedom but also forced thousands of them into slavery. The film, therefore, heavily distorted the portrayal of Saladin as a man almost without religious motivations and particular attention has been placed to emphasis this trait. In one scene, Saladin was seen picking up a fallen ornamental cross on the ground and replacing it on its stand; which reinforces the idea in the audience that Saladin s favours personal faith
  • 11. Abortion By Judith Jarvis Thomson Thomson s example shows that he is in support of the woman and her having the right to say no. She has the right to walk away and say no to the violinist, even if this means he dies. It is her body, and she did not give the violinist permission to use it. The woman and the violinist are examples of rape in this case. If a man physically rapes a woman, and she becomes pregnant, she has a right to an abortion because she has not given the man or the fetus the right to use her body. Although the abortion will kill the fetus, the woman s action is not unjust because the fetus did not have the right to use her body. Now, if the woman voluntarily gave the violinist permission to use her body for about nine months or years, and halfway through she

  • 13. Life Course And Human Development According to Crawford and Walker(2010), the life course is defined in literature as, The progression and path an individual takes from conception to death. (Crawford and walker, 2012, p.3). The study of the life course and human development is extremely complex and could be described as interdisciplinary as it encompasses many fields of study. When examining the life course of individuals it is necessary to consider all of the various factors that affect human behaviour. These may include; psychological, biological, social, behavioural, cognitive or culture factors. Age can also be considered as a factor that influences lifespan development. In the early 19th century, the term age related change was regarded as only applicable to the early childhood stage but in recent years, psychologists have come to accept that age related changes occur throughout the entire life span. According to Boyd and Bee (2014), other earlier theories included Charles Darwin s suggestion that, the wide variety of life forms that exist on earth evolved gradually as a result of the interplay between environmental factors and genetic process. (Boyd and Bee, 2014, p.3) Therefore Darwin proposed that it was either solely, nature or nurture that influenced the human development, but instead, a combination of both. In this assignment, I am going to focus on the specific psychological factors that influence human behaviour during the life course. I will compare two different psychological

  • 15. The Importance Of Adolescent Privacy In The Media And... Adolescent privacy is commonly invaded by parents that monitor their children s media content with the intent to keep them on track. However, are these observations as helpful as the parents consider it? A few articles and studies show that while it may be a cautious step from the parents to keep children safe, the lack of privacy may emit many other emotions and pressures from adolescents that could make the situations worse (Mullen 166 Padilla Walker et al. 1153). With the use of case studies and articles, this essay will address the privacy concerns of adolescents and the importance of regulating media content by parental monitoring. The term media should be taken in the context of television, video games, social media, and the internet. I will argue that parental media monitoring can help parents supervise their children, promote positive behaviour, and provide disciplined upbringing while maintaining adolescences independence and aiding them to develop advanced practical skills that will come in use in a media run world. Parental monitoring is one of the most useful techniques to supervise children s media content in the effort to protect them from bad influences and wrong decisions; although, the biggest drawback is that monitoring diminishes privacy for adolescents. Supervision allows the parents or guardians to control and limit specific content that deems to be inappropriate for their children, especially in today s generation; for example, adolescents may be

When he was thirteen he received a pocket watch, he then proceeded to take it apart, and then reassemble it. People heard about his skill with watches, and started asking him to fix theirs. He even made his own tools out of nails, and a corset stay. When he got a little older he got a few boys together to build simple water wheels and steam engines. He gained a lot of his knowledge about steam engines by becoming friends with the men that ran them. He got together a group of businessmen to help him with this. He learned how to do everything he did by using trial and error. His experience with his new business was the same way, but with this method comes failure which Ford soon learned. He didn t give up easily though, the more he failed the bigger the risk that he wanted to take. Which is why he began building, and driving race cars. This brought just the right kind of attention in from the right kind of people. A few tries later and, Ford established his own company in 1903, Ford Motor Company. In 1907, he created a four cylinder, known as the Model N. It was $600, and soon became the best selling car in America. That wasn t enough for him. He wanted to make a better, cheaper vehicle, in 1908 he released the Ford Model T. This model was made with nine different body styles. Soon, half of all the cars in America would be the Model T s. I have viewed gangs in a negative manner, and have carried a false misconception of what exactly a gang is. Television and media is partially to blame for society s view on gangs and gangviolence. Today, there are dozens of reality television shows about gangs. It is no surprise the information that we take in through television on the topic of gangs is misleading. Gangs can be a problem, especially gangs that are active in violence, and criminality. The problem here is there is no research that suggests that there is a policy that will address the gang problem, or a preventative measure that produces results. Through research, I will define what a gang is, why gangs can be harmful to at risk youth, what prevention programs accomplish, and the efficacy of prevention programs. I will also determine which of prevention programs has the highest level of effectiveness. Gangs go way back in time, and have been around for longer than most of us know. Even Newspapers during the economic collapse in the 1800s reports juveniles harassing and assaulting residents of the city. (Grennan, Britz, Rush, Barker, 2000). Since gangs have been around, there have always been theoretical explanations of the social problems that goes hand and hand with gangs. Prions cause diseases, but they aren t viruses or bacteria or fungi or parasites, but proteinaceous infectious particles, an abnormal form of a normally harmless protein found in the brain causing variety of fatal neurological diseases of both animals and humans. They are the ones that cause the well known mad cow disease in Britain and Scarpie for animals. Prions act slowly, and are virtually indestructible. Prions enter the brain through infection, or they can arise from mutations in the gene that encodes the protein. When a prion (misfolded form of protein normally present in brain cells) enters a cell with a normal protein structure, the prion converts the normal protein structures into a misfolded prion version. Many prions continue to add up forming a complex that converts other protein structures to prions. When all the prions add up they interfere with normal cellular functions and cause disease symptoms. Prions can also spread from one organism to another. They can be transmitted in food, as may occur when people eat prion laden beef from cattle with mad cow disease. Prion like proteins are normal proteins with similar prion like domains which may also be involved in diseases of the brain or other organs. Seeded protein aggregation will lead to many more diseases of the brain. In contrast to prions being simple infection in yeast cells prion forming proteins initiate cell process such as the central dogma. The prion like proteins may not be widely pathogenic

Contributors to the obesity problem are overly large portions of food served to Americans. Also, a lack of physical activity adds to obesity, spending hours in front of a television or computer. Advertisements contribute to Americans over weight problems by pushing high calorie high fat foods. Major healthproblems caused by obesity are high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. First, obesity can cause high blood pressure in Americans. Overweight individuals are more likely to develop high blood pressure than individuals with average weight. The added fat tissue in the body creates a need for additional blood to circulate through the body. As a result, of this added blood flow there is extra pressure on the artery walls of the heart. With this higher pressure on the artery walls a person s blood pressure rises. Since, there is increased pressure on the heart it causes the heart to grow larger. When the heart grows larger, it loses some of its ability to squeeze blood through the heart valves. So, this extra weight impedes the body s ability to transport blood through the blood vessels. ... He is innocent and unaware of the evil that lurks in the frog spawn. We can see in the poem that the boy is young, when he remembers his teacher teaching him about the frogs, and his way of calling the frogs Daddy frog and Mammy Frog . Words like slap, pop, slobber, farting, and croaked illustrates the realism of how the flax dam is. The use of using onomatopoeia is to describe the nature and the surroundings, and to show the uncertainty that is going through the boy s mind in the second stanza. Sibilant sounds are also used in the poem. Words like slap, slime, sods, and spawn show the uncertainty and the tension that the boy is under. Heaney also uses stop sounds to show his frightful and uncertain mood (Bluebottles, Poised, Grenades, Mud, Farting, Blunt, Kings, Vengeance etc). This stops the reader from flowing which gives a sense of uncertainty. Heaney uses the description of the frogs to convey the uncertainty that the boy is feeling. He describes the frogs as ...angry , ...gross bellied (which also uses stop sounds). They are described as having ...loose necks and ...blunt heads, farting . This is used to describe the boy s abhorrence he has for the frogs. He refers to the frogs as ...great slime kings , which shows, in the boy s imagination, that the frogs are rebellious and that they have ...turned on him, seeking ...for vengeance . Another technique which Heaney uses to convey the frogs rebellious actions are using war terms about them. He depicts them as ...mud grenades and that they ...invaded the flax dam. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reasons for this are varied. One of the major factors that prevent full federal protection is that states have broad ways of defining what is considered personally identifiable information. For instance, take a state like Connecticut: their state laws consider an account number as a personal identifier (Wright, 2009). Let s say a church sponsored a bake sale and someone bought a cupcake from that church. If the church happened to log that sale with a unique number, say, S101, where S is the first initial of the buyer and the number is a one up sales number, that church would then fall under the provisions of the Connecticut state law and may be required to protect that customer s identity. Other states have varying definitions as to what PII is. The most robust PII protections in the country exist in the state of California, making PII a protected right and allowing anyone that interacts with that data to appropriately protect and reasonably notify affected people of any potential security breaches (Wikipedia, n.d.). There exists many different definitions of PII and its applications and provisions are as vast as there are states in the union. Later, an example of a

  • 39. The Pros And Cons Of Negligence Introduction. Negligence is a central topic in the vast area of Law Tort. It is largely due to Negligence being by far most practiced by Tort lawyers with huge number of litigations each year. As per Sir Percy Henry Winfield: Negligence is the breach of a legal duty to take care which results in damage, undesired by the Defendant to the Claimant. In other words, it is a failure to exercise that degree of care, when law requires for the purpose of protection of individuals, their properties and their financial interests. A duty of care is a legal obligation to safeguard individuals who can be considered your neighbours from harm: (in your care, your children, students, employees, etc.). Mr. Stovin, the Claimant, was knocked off his motorcycle by Mrs. Wise s car, the Defendant, and became injured. The Defendant claimed that the accident occurred because visibility of traffic on the junction was obstructed by a bank of earth with a fence. Thus, she claimed that Norfolk County Council (NCC) failed to maintain the junction in safe to use order, and therefore were liable. In the court of first instance the judge agreed that NCC owed a duty of care to the Claimant and were 30% liable to compensate Mr. Stovin. Mrs. Wise was 70% responsible for compensation to the Defendant. But on appeal to the House of Lords the Defendant NCC were found not liable. Held: the Council were not liable on the basis of pure omission. In a space of twelve years there had only been three accidents which was not enough to render that the junction was dangerous. The minimum threshold for junction to be considered dangerous would need to have five accidents in a space of three

[pg.1] Chinua Achebe believes otherwise. In Chinua Achebe s An Image of Africa: Racism is Conrad s Heart of Darkness he simply states that, Joseph Conrad was a thoroughgoing racist [pg.5] Achebe argues that the racist observed in the Heart of Darkness is expressed due to the western psychology or as Achebe states desire, this being to show Africa as an antithesis to Europe. He first states Conrad as one of the great stylists of modern fiction. [pg.1] He praises Conrad s talents in writing but believes Conrad s obvious racism has not been addressed. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3] Achebe believes that Conrad deliberately showed Mr. Kurtz s mistress as a savage counterpart to the refined, European woman. [pg.4] As he moves into more detail of the difference, he moves into the subject of the black s lack of speech. He states that It is clearly not part of Conrad s purpose to confer language on the rudimentary souls of Africa. [pg. 4] Instead of speech they are represented with sounds (i.e. grunting). My first critique was that of the blacks lack of speech, where Conrad presents speech on the motorboat. Interestingly enough, Achebe analyzes these points as, at first, being acts of generosity from Conrad. [pg.5] But, later states their purpose as showing the Europeans their unspeakable craving [pg.5] or cannibalism. I do however disagree with this viewpoint. Though initially the speech of the cannibals can be viewed as some of his best assaults, [pg.5] the actions of the cannibals speak louder than their words. The cannibals restraint towards eating humans in the novel shows them in a positive light. If you view Africa as a whole, both blacks and whites should be viewed the same. Mr. Kurtz, being an example, can also be viewed as a cannibal as it is strongly believed by the Company that he has become a savage, like the Africans. My point being that the blacks confining from eating humans, does not show Conrad s as a racist but quite the contrary. Mr. Kurtz s involvement of the African customs and beliefs

Review Of The Jati Aaron Thomas Nancey Moore HIS 111 4106 9 September 2015 The Jati Thousands of years ago in Asia, a book was written that gave social structure that would go on through the ages in India. Today that social structure is called the Jati or in English words, the Caste system. While it has undergone a few changes here and there, the system has relatively been unchanged and just like thousands of years ago when it was first introduced in the Vedas, it exists in modern day India as a part of society in it. This paper will go over a more detailed explanation of the Jati as well as the classes and books that defined the Jati system, most notably the Laws of Mandu . Jati translates to caste so in English it is called the Caste system. In the Jati system there are four main castes one falls under: Shudra, Viasya, Kshatryia and Bhramin. Outside of the caste system are the outcasts or also called untouchables. Within these main four castes there are thousands of subcastes a group of people will fall under. One important thing to note where unlike most social classes of ancient time, in the Jati system, it is possible to move up in the caste. While a subcaste may not move up as an individually, the entire group can move up. So while there is subcaste A and subcaste B. While Subcaste B is currently higher up on the caste it is possibly for subcaste A as a whole to move up above subcaste B. This is the beauty of the Jati system, groups are not permanently logged into one place

Protest Songs And Its Effect On Social Change For many centuries, music has been an unwavering force in society, offering entertainment for various ceremonies and events, while also providing an outlet for creative expression. Most people see the entertainment factor in music, but fail to realize the power music has to influence social change. One way that music inspires social change is through protest songs. Most songwriters agree that protest songs are written because circumstances demand engagement and things can no longer be left unsaid (Haslam). Protest songs have been prominent for centuries in the United States , but one decade that they are closely associated with is the 1960s. This was a time when America was faced with much controversy and division. The protest music performed by folk artist and social activist Peter Seeger empowered oppressed individuals during the 1960s to stand against social norms by acknowledging social issues in society, advocating his personal beliefs, and convincing his audience that it was acceptable to have varying opinions. The 1960s were a time in history in which the United States was filled with much disillusionment; however, the 1960s were a time of hope. It was a decade unlike any other, where everyday individuals thought they could change the world and were willing to put themselves in physical danger to see that change happen (Cassity 13). The 1960s offered disposition for multiple scenarios Civil Rights, Vietnam War, Feminism, Pollution which led to artists such as Pete

However, he skillfully connects verses and cantos to each other throughout the books, adding meaning and depth to his story. Dante s choice to make his work interdependent on other points throughout his text drives home greater significance of the series in a way that is similar to that which the Bible uses. The Bible also contains verses that relate to other books within its pages. Dante reinforces his status as a Christian author by emulating the model of the religion s holy text. An example of interconnectedness in Dante s work can be found in the third canto of each of the books in the Divine Comedy: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. He uses various elements to connect these cantos together and increase potential analysis and meaning of the text. First Playoff Of The Pakistan Super League ( Psl ) Take a bow, PSL Is there a better sight in sport than an underdog summoning the form of his life against all odds to push his team across the finish line? I do not think so. This is exactly why the first playoff of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) pitting the Peshawar Zalmi against Quetta Gladiators on February 19 was so satisfying. It had enough drama and plot twists to appease the most demanding punters. The PSL is a resounding success for a whole range of reasons, but to me, the last 20 minutes of this game encapsulated what is means to be a cricket fan in Pakistan and how international fixtures are poorer for not playing to packed stadiums in Karachi, Lahore or Rawalpindi. As fortunes seesawed in the homestretch, unsurprising since both Zalmi and Gladiators were easily the best teams through the tournament, cameras cut to rapt audience members revealing why the PSL is here to stay. They also offered special housing to allow the survivors a place to start again. Along with this relief program, a new legislation was created to return confiscated Jewish assets to their lawful owners. The German government even began paying the returning victims $1,500 to show their sympathy. Though these programs helped Jews, Germans needed to develop a new attitude to earn respect from the Jews. To state the government s new intentions in writing, Article III was created and added to the German constitution, called the Grundgesetz. This addition solemnly proclaimed the equality of all men before the law: no one could be discriminated against because of sex, race, nationality, ethnic origins, faith, or political views . However, most Germans and Jews wanted action, instead of merely a declaration of what should be done. In order to take action towards their goal of equality, the whole community needed education in the spirit of human and religious tolerance . 3 The holocaust greatly effected the population of the Jews and their families. The Jew mortality rate after the second World War was two times that of the general German population. This was due to health problems provoked during the holocaust and the persecution on their will to
