My operational definition of social justice (the distribution of advantage and disadvantage
within a society) is controversial to my social justice (LGBT Liberation) because they have a
disadvantage in today s society. It s controversial because people today are afraid to come out
because they re afraid of other people s reactions. Everyone in today s society depends on other
people s opinions. On what s right or what s the norm . Many people feel this is a lifestyle choice
not part of their make up. The Supreme Court ruling to allow same sex marriages is still not
widely accepts. The pressure of trying to express who you are can add stress and the stereotypes by
others can add an inability to have a career. The efforts of the LGBTare opening doors for people
to be themselves. Standing up for the LGBT rights is a form of social justice. One of these
advocate organizations is the National Youth Advocacy Coalition. Teenagers as well as adults are
faced with these injustices. My idea of social justice is giving the LGBT the same rights as all other
citizens and overcoming stereotypes.
Some of the groups against this social justice are religious groups and their leaders and right wing
political leaders (i.e. Tea Party). While many groups are outspoken against LGBT the biggest

A Secret Lost in the Water is a short story by Roch Carrier. It is a story about how young
Millennials are forgetting their traditional way of life and are moving into the modern era . The
story takes place in a small Village where everyone knows one another. A Secret Lost in the Water
is a story about a father tries to teach his son an important skill of how to find water with an elder
branch, but the son does not value it and loses the skill. The main theme in A Secret Lost in the
Water by Roch Carrier, is the lack of the interest of the new generation, the valuable knowledge
which is a great asset is going to be lost best displayed by, the father, the son and the generation gap.
In the short story A Secret Lost in the Water by Roch Carrier, the father is an important character
in the story. The father wants his son to continue his skills of dowsing. In his son s childhood,
the father teaches his son the skill of dowsing. You see, he said, the branch has two arms. Now
take one in each hand. And squeeze them. He tries to teach his son his fore father s profession
which is a great skill to help people. As the narrator says regarding the father, I ve just taught you
how to find a spring. It s something my own father taught me. It isn t something you learn in
school. And it isn t useless . The father thinks that his son sees the skill of dowsing as a useless
skill. The father takes his profession as a sacred and noble as it can be seen in this quote, My
father opened his pocket knife and cut the branch he d selected with pious care. He stripped off
the leaves and showed me the branch, which formed a perfect Y. As a result, the father fails at
transferring his skill to his son, and the son becomes a writer instead.
A Secret Lost in the Water by Roch Carrier, the narrator writes about the son that he has forgotten
the gift that his father gave to him when he was young. His father taught him to dowse, but he did
not value it, and lost his father s treasure of knowledge. The son tries to dowse for a family friend,
who knows his father, but he fails at it; he is not able to hear the gushing water in his ears. He now
regrets not valuing the important gift of dowsing water

Character Analysis Of Little Miss Sunshine
Little Miss Sunshine is a comedy movie about a seven year old girl named Olive who aspires to
win the Little Miss Sunshine pageant. To help make her wish come true, her six member family
takes a road trip from Albuquerque to Redondo Beach, California. At the conclusion of the film,
Olive and her family learned to trust and support each other, no matter the situation. Olive is the
youngest member of her family who is entering middle childhood and adolescencejust like her
older brother Dwayne. Olive is the type of girl that is cheerful, most of the time and not
particularly the kind you would see in a pageant. Olive s brother, Dwayne, could be described as
emo . Although he claims that he hates his family, he loves his sister, Olive. Their parents,
Richard and Sheryl, and their Uncle Frank are in the process of entering middle adulthood.
Throughout most of the film, Richard is considered selfish because he does not want his family
to be seen as losers . Richard is obnoxious to his family, but he still means well and wants them to
succeed. Sheryl is the normal member of the family who does not tolerate anyone s antics.
Uncle Frank is very sarcastic and failed at his attempt to commit suicide. He used to be a college
professor, so he is considered the smart guy. The sixth member of Olive s family, her grandpa,
dies during the movie due to an overdose, but was entering the late adulthood stage. The
members of Olive s family share some similarities and differences, but since they all vary in age,
developmental concepts will be different in a way for each family member. Olive is seven which
means she is approaching adolescence while Dwayne is currently going through adolescence.
Typically, females ages eight to fourteen go through pubertal changes while males go through it
between ages nine to fifteen. The difference in age does not have to do with maturity as much as it
does the brain. Many biological changes take place during the adolescent years, such as: height,
hormones, and etc. Changes in height during adolescence are regulated by the complex of
hormones. Changes in hormones take place later and over a longer period of time in boys than
girls. These changes in hormones could affect how interactions with

Rising into the mainstream in the early 1960 s, Motown music gained popularity as it produced a
wave of African American musicians who successfully integrated their music, creating a newly
unified musical culture between White and Black Americans. Simultaneously Motown provided
musical backing for an extensive battle of cultural change in the USA; the American Civil Rights
Movement. Berry Gordy, the founder of MotownRecords produced music with the aim to sell to

Every artist had a different focus, style, look and sound. Marvin Gaye began his run at Motown
records as an in house drummer for recordings. He was then promoted by Gordy to record his

single and the title became highly recognized due to their reference to the 1965 Watts Riots.
