OKAY VERY GOOD! SO WHY DO WE NEED TO KNOW ALSO THE DIFFERENT BODY PARTS TO BE MEASURED?
YES SO TAKING BM IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT STEPS IN MAKING A DRESS OR ANY GARMENT YOU WANT TO MAKE.
So before you FINALLY do the actual taking of body measurements. You think of the tips in taking measurements, okay so why do we need to know the tips first?
Of course it will help you to have the best outcome of the body measurements you take.
Okay so first we have, always……..will you pls read..
This is the most important one when taking the BM, of course we cant use the engineers tape measure, so it is always the sewing tape measure.
Next, we have…………..yes so why do we need to let our clients stand up straight. Of course because you cannot take clients BM while he is sitting or doing something, kasi may tendency na mag iba yung size na nakuha mo sa client, dun sa actual na size niya.
Lastly, we have……..ofcourse so always put in mind that when you take a clients BM you need to properly execute and and locate the specific Body parts to be measured and of course you need to use the TM properly.
Again, CLASS WHAT ARE THE TIPS IN TAKING THE BODY MEASUREMENTS?
NOW THAT YOU KNOW THE TIPS, LETS PROCEED TO THE DIFFERENT BODY MEASUREMENTS
SO WHAT DO YOU THINK ARE THE DIFF BODY PARTS TO BE MEASURED CLASS?
First we have the FBL, it is the measurement taken from the shoulder neck point of the client passing through the apex down to the waistline. Okay so let us say Ms.__ desired length is 7inches. To avoid confusions you have to write down the measurements right after it was taken.
Next we have the next one, bust height measurement, so how do we take the bust height measurement?
Okay so it is taken from the shoulder neck point down to the apex. Take note you have to locate the center of the apex. And put the tape measure properly.
For example Ms.____ measurements is 9 inches. Again you have to write it down.
Okay so let’s proceed to the bust width, so why do you think we have to measure the bust width also? Why don’t we rely on the bust height?
Okay so BH and BW is measured differently. So this is the measurement taken from the apex too the apex. Okay so this is how it is done. Don’t forget to properly locate your bust point. For example, the measurement is 9 inches.
How about the shoulder width? How do we take the SW? so this is taken from the shoulder neck point up to the shoulder tip point. The tip point is where the bone of your shoulder is located, its is located here. So we have 5 inches.
Next we have the bust measurement, so this is taken naman around the bust line, this is how it is done, okay like this. So this is an example of a circumferential measurement . Again the tape measure should be flat against the figure, straight across the back and not too tight. For example the measurement is 36
Next we have the WM, I know you are very familiar in taking the WM a lot of girls does this routine, especially those that are conscious about there waistline. So how do we take the WM, okay wrap around the tape measure to your body, level with your belly button. Make sure its not too tight. Don’t forget to insert 2 fingers for the allowance. Again this is taken from the smallest curve in your wist.
Next proceed to the SL this is taken from the shoulder tip point down to the desired length of your client. Always make sure to have your client stand straight. You can also have your sleeves upto the wrist, or long sleeves it depends on you.
So right after taking the sleeve length, from this point measure the bottom circumference, this is taken around the desired length of the sleeve, for example the sleeve length measurement of Ms.___ is 10.
How about the hips, how do we take the hip measurement? So always put in mind when you take the HM, make sure it is taken around the buttocks. Always put your feet together and wrap the tape measure around straight and snug to the widest part of the hips. So the measurement is 36…. Do you get me class?
