The Relationship Between Democracy And Civility
Author Ken Burns (2011) describes the relationship between democracy and civility when he said,
But civility is essential to our ability as a nation to confront together difficult issues, even when we
may disagree, and to continue to improve as a country (National Constitution Center, 2011).
Democracy and civility go hand in hand; without democracy, there wouldn t be civility and
without civility there wouldn t be democracy. In a democracy, the model of dissent should be
deliberation, yet the long and careful debate we once had has shifted towards violent measures to
fulfill one s own needs. The model of dissent has transformed from deliberation to violencedue

Albert Bandura, a renowned psychologist, studied how some behaviors are learned through
imitation. He calls this the social learning theory. It is exemplified in his classic experiment
called the Bobo Doll Experiment. The children participating in the experiment were individually
shown into a room with toys and then played with them for 10 minutes while either, 1) 24
children (12 girls and 12 boys) watched a male or female model behaving aggressively toward a
toy called a Bobo Doll . The adults attacked the Bobo doll in a distinctive manner, either
punching or kicking and in some cases using a hammer. 2) Another 24 children were exposed to
a non aggressive model who played in a quiet and subdued manner for 10 minutes. 3) The final 24
children were used as a control group and were not exposed to any model at all (McLeod, 2011). In
order to study whether these three situations had a different effect on the children, the experimenter
subjected all the children to mild aggression arousal (McLeod, 2011) by taking each child
separately to a room with toys. Once the child began to play with the toys, the experimenter told
the child that these were the experimenter s best toys and she had decided to reserve them for the
other children (McLeod, 2011). The experimenter then brought the child into the next room, which
had some aggressive toys, such as a toy hammer, and some non aggressive toys. For twenty minutes

Sustainable Construction Of Sustainable Building
Sustainable building
Introduction
As concerns of climate change and global warming rises, reducing the impact on environment and
human health have became the priorities to consider before the construction of buildings.
Therefore, the concept of sustainable building (also known as green building, green
construction)was brought up, aiming to create structures which is environmentally responsible and
source efficient during its lifespan. [1] Compared to conventional buildings, sustainable buildings
are advantageous from many aspects, such as durability, comfort, security, productivity and
economy.
During the construction of sustainable building, the use of renewable energy can be a significant
issue. Compared to conventional energy, renewable energy can benefit from many aspects.
By utilization of renewable energy , more nature resources can be conserved and restored, such as
solar power, wind ,biomass, etc. The renewable generate much less or even no pollution to the
nature environment. For example, a solar powered air conditioning system generate no HCFCs,
CFs released by conventional air conditioning, causing depletion to ozone layer. Due to less energy
consumed, the operating cost can be reduced efficiently. Furthermore, occupant comfort and health
will be improved with a green and livable living/working place.
In next section, a building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) would be introduced systematically,
which make a good utilization of solar power in sustainable

The Symbolism Of Light In Literature
Light can be seen by many people, but what really is light? What does it symbolise, or mean to
certain people. In Time and Again the light has many different meanings. The light is coming from
multiple sources meaning that the light has different effects and it is helping to tell the story by
allowing us to use these different lights in order to see a theme. Lightwill allow a person to have
different emotions depending on how they perceive it. The first time that light comes up in the
story it said this, I can t help but think he might come home at night when I am gone, so I let the
kitchen light burn and go on out the door. (2006 Pancake p.83). The burning light in the kitchen
is giving the old man a sense of warmth. The warmth from the candle allows the man to have
hope that his son will come back home. If the boy were to show up at the house, then this
burning candle and the light that it gives off will help the boy by feeling more welcome. The
next time that we hear about the lights is when the old man is alone on the road. I pass the rest
stop at Hawks Nest, and a new batch of fools line up behind me, but pretty soon I am alone again.

Core Principles Values Of Effective Team Based Health Care
In their discussion paper Core principles values of effective team based health care , Mitchell et al
(2012), identified mutual trust in teams as one of 5 principles of effective team based healthcare.
Within healthcare though there are numerous examples of where a and abuse of trust,
misplacement of trustor a culture of distrust, have adversely impacted on patient care as
documented in the Shipman Inquiry (2005); the Francis Report (2010) and the Bristol Royal
Infirmary Inquiry (2001).
To examine the issue of why trust is important for effective team working in healthcare, the author
will begin by reviewing definitions of trust, trustworthiness and the psychological approaches to
trust development before considering the potential impacts that trust has on team working and
performance. An overview of how trust can be nurtured and developed within the context of
healthcare teams will also identify the role of leaders in building a climate for trust to be developed.
Defining trust 723
Interpersonal trust was defined by Rousseau, Sitkin, Burt and Camerer (1998, p 395), as the
intention to accept vulnerability based upon positive expectations of the intentions or behaviour of
another. This link to vulnerability between trustor (the giving party) and trustee (the receiving
party) was also captured by Mayer et al. (1995 p. 712) who defined trust as the willingness of a
party to be vulnerable to the actions of another party based on the expectations that the other

The Roman Empire and the Han Empire
After the collapse of the Qin Dynasty in the third century BCE, the Han Empire emerged as a
massive imperial power in the East. Its culture was compiled upon the teachings of Confucius and
ancestor worship. Meanwhile in the west, the Romans solidified their authority as being a dominant
force in the Mediterranean. Both the Roman Empireand the Han Empire were similar in their
governments as they both supported a centralized government. On the other hand, they were
different in the manner of how they dealt with foreigners and outside visitors. Although the Han
Empire and the Roman Empire were alike, there are more differences between them than
similarities. One difference between the two empires were their treatment with foreigners. The
Hans believed that they had no need for them to be included within the Empire. However, this was
not the case for the Romans. The Roman Empire would accept outsiders and tolerate them. The
Empire treated the foreigners well even to the extent of making them citizens. During this time
however, the Romans did not have enough people to go to war. This led them into giving the
barbarians jobs in the military. Soon, there were so many foreign soldiers to the degree that almost
70% of the entire army were barbarians. The reason why the Hans looked down upon the
barbarians was because the Hans thought that the barbarians were inferior. One reason why the
Hans thought that they were so superior was their belief of the Mandate of Heaven. The

Task 1
Frost, GKE1 Task 1 Page 1
GKE Task 1 Part A:
Over the centuries there have been many different environmental and geographical factors that have
shaped the development of the United States. Two of these factors that I feel are extremely
significant to this development are the Irish Potato Famine and the discovery of gold in California.
The Irish Potato Famine began in Ireland in September 1845. The famine was caused by an
airborne fungus, phytophthora infetans, which attacks the leaves of the plant, turning them black,
causing them to curl and rot, ultimately killing the plant. The rotting plant makes the perfect
environment for the fungus to multiply. The wind then carries the fungus spores to more healthy
plants. (Irish Potato Famine, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cultural trade was also a two way street. The Egyptians started representing themselves
artistically and fashionably as the Romans did with a more Greco Roman style (Heilbrunn
Timeline of Art History, 2000). Both civilizations came to be known as some of the most
prosperous and successful civilizations of the ancient world.

How Does Rosalind Use Dramatic Irony In As You Like It
Both As You Like It and The Outing make use of verbal irony. In As You Like It, Rosalind
decides to take on a male persona in order to talk with Orlando openly. She gives herself the
name Ganymede and dresses up like a man. Later in the play, Orlando has a conversation with
Ganymede and does not realize that he is in fact Rosalind in disguise. Rosalind, dressed as
Ganymede, chides him to woo her as if she were Rosalind: What would you say to me now / an I
were your very very Rosalind? (IV. i. 74 75). Each time Rosalind insists that she is Rosalind is
ironic because she is simultaneously Rosalind and is playing the part of Rosalind. Orlando fails to
realize this. Similarly, in The Outing, Elaine does not realize who someone actually... Show more

In As You Like It, Celia s and Rosalind s friendship seems intimate and intense. They speak to
each other as if they are lovers and not friends. At the beginning of the play, Rosalind is upset
about her father s banishment. She and Celia have a minor fight where Celia accuses her of not
loving her fully: Herein I see thou lov st me not with the full weight I love thee (I. ii. 7 8). The two
characters quickly make up because of Rosalind s sacrifice. She says that she will ignore her
problems to focus on Celia. The characters speak to one another as if they are in a romantic
relationship although they are cousins. In addition to blurring the line between men and women,
Shakespeare blurs the line between platonic relationships and intimate ones. Larry Charles does
the same in The Outing with Jerry and George. In doing so, Shakespeare and Charles are able to
play with their respective characters and mislead the audience. Jerry and George say and do
several things throughout the episode that imply they are in a relationship. For instance, Jerry and
George bicker about minor things such as George s shirt and how clean a pear is. Although the
audience knows that Jerry and George are not

Have you ever heard of the Canterbury Cathedral? It was built in 1070 and founded by St.
Augustine. It got damaged several times, but one of the things that caused the damaging was a fire.
In this essay I will talk about the history of the cathedral, a biography of the founder, and modern
day use of the cathedral. The Canterbury Cathedral is one of the oldest Christian churches in
England. One of the oldest churches is St. Joseph of Arimathea. In the church, there are beautiful

Psychological Impact On Public Consciousness
INTRODUCTION
Psychological operations are successfully used to influence the public consciousness, the economy,
and the military operations.
THE PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS
Nowadays psychological operations are becoming an effective tool in both foreign and domestic
policy. They are widely used in the sphere of international relations to ensure the voluntary
submission of opponents, to promote the activities of supporters, and to maintain a high level of
motivation among allies. One of the most important elements of these actions is the informational
and psychological impact on public consciousness. During the Gulf WarPSYOPS effectively used
to influence on public consciousness of international community and local populations.
Before entering the war against Iraq in 1990, for multinational forces was necessary to explain the
causes of the war to the international community. Multinational forces had to clarify to the world
all reasons like: the restoration of Kuwait s lost independence (in August 1990, Iraqi troops
occupied Kuwait); Protection of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Oman against
possible aggression by Iraq; Protection of the freedom of global navigation in the Persian Gulf;
Protection of the trampled rights of Kurds and Shiites in Iraq. With using global information
network, it became possible to show the aggressiveness of Iraq and set up world public opinion
against Iraq. At the same time attempts by Iraq to find the support of other countries have

Ewing s Sarcoma Case Study
Ewing s sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that grows in the bones. It is usually found in longer
bones of the arms or legs. The thigh bone (femur) is the bone most often affected, followed by the
bones of the pelvis, lower leg, upper arm (humerus) and chest.
It is the second most common type of cancer found in children. Ewing s sarcoma typically occurs in
people between 10 and 20 years old. However, it can occur at any age.
CAUSES
No one knows exactly what causes Ewing s sarcoma. Certain changes in genes seem to cause this
cancer; but what causes those changes is not known. The cancer occurs in white males more than
any other group of people.
Other possible causes include:
Injury or damage to the bone.
Radiation from an earlier cancer treatment.
SYMPTOMS
The major signs and symptoms of Ewing s Sarcoma are:
Fever with no cause.
Bones that break too easily.
Weight loss.
No desire to eat.

DIAGNOSIS
Ewing s sarcoma is diagnosed through a variety of tests:
An X ray may show where the tumor is located.
A bone scan may show whether other bones are affected.
A bone marrow sample helps find signs of cancer that could be affecting blood production.
MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) is a diagnostic test that uses large magnets, radio frequencies,
and a computer to make images of organs and structures within the body. This test outlines the
extent of the tumor within the bone and joint and the relationship of the tumor to the muscles,
nerves and blood vessels.
A PET (positron emission tomography) scan may help to show cancer activity in some other parts
of the body. This can be helpful for staging the cancer (see

to find out how much physical activity is required before you sign on for any tour. If you have
limited mobility you don t want to go on a tour that climbs the Acropolis in Athens or Dunns

There are private touring companies that you can contact on your own if you wish to tour in a

Al Seckel Visual Illusions
Al Seckel, a cognitive neuroscientist, explores the idea that a violation in our visual perception
can cause us to feel a sense of joy during a TedTalk presentation in Monterey, California on
February 26, 2004. He elaborates on this idea by presenting the audience with various examples of
visual illusions concerning a violation in depth, colour, shape, size, and etc. The lecture is packed
with various types of visual illusions ranging from old to new, from artists such as Leonardo Da
Vinci to Arthur Ganson and he even included several examples of the visual illusions he has
created. His hypothesis regarding the delight in visual illusions is correct, as throughout the lecture,
when presented with new visual illusions the audience is entertained and joyful.
Textual Connections
Several connections can be drawn between the topics and types of visual illusions covered in the
textbook and the types of visual illusion shown by Al Seckel in the TedTalk lecture. One of the
connections I was able to draw from reading the chapter in the textbook regarding visual illusions
and watching the TedTalk lecture was the violation of size, accomplished by using a converging
line. The textbook shows the Ponzo Illusion, where the line closer to the converging line is
perceived as being much larger than the line farther away from the converging line (Cramer et al.,
2017). Al Seckel shows an image he has created using the Ponzo Illusion, called Pick on Someone
Your Own Size (Seckel, 2007). In

I believe that any obstacle or disadvantage can be made into something positive. The story of
Corrie ten Boom, a Polish holocaust victim, and two homeschooled friends I know with cerebral
palsy prove this point in many ways.
In the mid eighteenth century, World War II brought chaos and genocide into center stage in the
world arena. Jews were being torn from their homes and sent to concentration camps, where they
would either die instantly or be made to work under unthinkably brutal conditions. Corrie ten
Boom, a middle aged Polish woman, worked together with her whole family to help hide Jews in a
secret room in her house. Once the operation was revealed to Nazi authorities, however, most of the

Tradition: To emphasize on the influence of the Aztecs traditions in to Mexican culture is the
gender roles. In the book, Mexico an illustrated History it explains, Men were expected to be
unflinching in the face of danger, and able to withstand pain. Women were expected to be
modest and unassertive, their world restricted to the household. Children were cherished, but

Modern day women are still changing and everyday there is more opportunities for women, but
even with the new opportunities, some women still decide to take the traditional route; they get

same values, they are taught to respect their parents and the elderly. Just like the Aztecs, Mexicans
take their traditions very seriously. Mexicans also take the admiration of sports from the Aztecs.

===================
The problem that was in need of solving was to produce a new look for wow.com to target the 17

and flexible.
I firstly set out by comparing some current documents such as flyers, letters and invoices. This
helped me as I could gather the best parts from these documents and use them to give me ideas to
create new ones.
The documents that I selected had to be 3 of a kind that were from three companies with two of a
flyer and a letter.
I the started off by researching and designing a logo for the new look wow.com. I produced four

I also had to produce a job application form which had to be on the website. I looked on the
Internet for examples of application forms and selected the best ones and took ideas from them.
Next document on the agenda was an invoice. I brought in some invoices and used them to compare
and to help me design mine.
I then had to actually make the website for which wow.com would put their new range on. I created
mine by using an online website builder;
I used this as I don t have much knowledge on building websites. This website had to include a
homepage, an order form and a catalogue. I new what kind of look I was aiming for at the start
and I thing I achieved it.
To help improve my website I created a questionnaire to be answered by the first few customers.
This is so I could make improvements to it straight away and also to satisfy other customer s needs.
The questionnaire had two parts to it, the questions and answers section which was design so that I
could get exactly what I wanted and secondly the tick box section which provided me with what
generally what they thought of the website. I then produced the results and incorporated the

Purpose Of Life In The Mayor Of Casterbridge By Thomas Hardy
The purpose of life is trailed by a string of theories, molded by the minds of individuals and
decorated with their personal opinions. Some may say that the purpose of life is success. Those
who fancy this ideology spend every given minute doing the absolute most they can do in order
to feed this new found obsession of success. Now, those same people may say that once they
have obtained success, their determination to maintain a dedicated reputation is no longer
necessary. Their hard work has finally paid off or so they thought. These people who believe this,
are wrong. Success is the product of never ending diligence and persistence. These success stories
happen when an individual continues to work hard, even when they have reached their peaks. It is
the act of maintaining respect in a position, and understanding that confidence is a preferred
descriptor to arrogance. Because in the end, success is knowing that the second someone feels
secure in a position, inevitable change has the power to strip that happiness away from them. This
very concept can be learned by Thomas Hardyin his novel The Mayor of Casterbridge. Through
Henchard s character, the weather, and the transient nature of power and status, people should never
be too comfortable in a position or situation because nothing is permanent, except change.
Hardy uses Michael Henchard as a vehicle to illuminate that sudden change can affect positioning in
relationships causing abandonment when efforts to maintain these

Game Over Changing Perspective On Tennis
Game Over Changing Perspectives During our sixth session of tennis practice, I decided that the

Ryan! Vera! Get ready to play! said I in Russian as usual. Ryan did not playwell, and for some
reason, he copied everything that Vera had done. He did not stand a chance against Vera s serving,

All of the students were shocked, Roman, Vera, Anna, Marta, Alex, and even me that Ryan did not

was not getting any better at tennis because he could not understand what he was being taught.
Ryan said frowning, You can all make fun of me now.
Walking towards him was the rest of the class. The students comforted him, telling him that it was

Raoul Hausmann s Influence In Three Selected Art Works
The following are three selected art works demonstrate this influence.
In the photomontage Der Kunstkritiker or The Art Critic (1919 20) Raoul Hausmann distorts and
disproportions the human form through deconstruction to have a simultaneously insulting and
humorous effect on his viewers.
Hausmann was an Austrian artist who adhered to strict expressionistic styles until introduced to
Dadaism, an unrealistic artistic and literary movement of many different mediums occurring from
1916 to 1924. Hausmann became one of the founding members of Dada in Berlin; a style which
centres on the mockery of materialistic and nationalistic attitudes formed in World War 1. Its
influences include other avant garde movements such as Cubism, Futurism, Constructivism, and

Mythological References in Hamlet Essay
Mythological References in Hamlet
What s in a name? Hamlet s good friend and confidant Horatio is doomed by the etymology of
his nomenclature to give good speech. Shakespeare has gifted Horatio with an elegant lucidty that,
when inspected closely, enables the reader to better comprehend the nature of the play; one of his
first addresses is key in setting the tone of what James Joyce called the grave and constant in
human suffering (Campbell 8). This is also a principal theme of classical mythology, and to fully
understand Hamlet as a tragic hero, a comprehension of the mythological references at the
beginning of the play must be foremost in the reader s mind. These metaphoric intimations of

A fascinating event like an eclipse was used to explain away strange behavior or portend odd
goings on. It is believed that Hamlet was written no earlier than 1598. Around this time,
Copernicus concept of a heliocentric universe was gaining strong popularity. It is possible that
Shakespeare might have been influenced by this idea; since he play is thought to be set around
1200, it is more likely that a subconscious consignment of information passed from Shakespeare s
pen into Horatio s intellect. With a potential new perception of how the sun and moon and earth
move in their orbits and how those movements affect things like the tides, Horatio might have
equated this with motions and circumstances affecting people and sets up his metaphor to
perform a double duty. One, he views the visitation of King Hamlet s host as precurse to fierce
events, almost like the calm before the storm(within Neptune s empire). Something bad is going to
happen: anytime you see a ghost it is usually bad news. Two, he uses the phrase Disasters in the
sun as a kind of prologue like epithet for Hamlet s light and to express the magnitude of the omen
coming on. The sun has always been the most powerful sustaining force in nature and is (perhaps)

Strengths
Before the mid 1970s, NASCAR was never televised live. In 1979, the Daytona 500 became the
first NASCAR event televised in its entirety. Since then, television has become the main
branding medium for NASCAR, and it appears to be working well. One of NASCAR s strengths is
they brokered a comprehensive 2.4 billion dollar contract with FOX and NBC in 2011. This will
not only help NASCRA to spread their brand, but also earn $2.4 billion from FOX and NBC.
Another strength is the loyalty of their fans. According to the drive to connect, in 2015, NASCAR
had 70 million fans. Their fans are considered the most loyal in all of sports, making NASCAR the
#1 sport for fan brand loyalty. Fans are not only loyal to the sport, but also to sponsors. This is
one reason why sponsors are willing to pay the high premiums to align themselves with NASCAR.
Their ability to successfully co brand themselves is an invaluable strength. As mentioned above,
their fans patron the sponsors, increasing their profits. It s because of this, that allows this co
branding strategy to work. Because NASCAR knows how important it is for sponsors to see an
increase in sales, they offer training sessions to help them make the most out of their sponsorship.
Sponsorships make up 50% of NASCAR s revenue so it s vital that these partnerships are
maintained. Another success is their ability to differentiate themselves from the competition.

However, by understanding what my work really meant to the organization, I started to see my

Social capital refers to the relationships that promote mutual benefits and enable the effective
function of a community (Lai and Hynie, 2010). By integrating people from different social
classes, FYFB works as a central point where individuals can interact with other realities and
work together. Similarly, Putnam (1995) argues that civic engagement generates in the
community a sense of reciprocity and produces social trust between different social classes. For
instance, by sorting donations, I realized that donors find a way to collaborate with the promotion
of FYFB s mission. From large contributions by organizations like Second Harvest or Daily Bread
to small donations by particular retails, their actions affirm that working together and organized
can led to a big success as Fort York Food Bank represents to me. In fact, Charity Intelligence

eight dollars in benefits to clients through the active collaboration of different volunteer skills.
Moreover, I realized the importance of social capital for the organization as the good interaction
between different kind of volunteers has enable FYFB to continue to work. Despite the different

When either World War is depicted, the Germans are often displayed as evil, menacing monsters

the perspective of a German soldier, there is a refreshing change and blunt honesty that
accompanies it. The main difference the candor provides is that the soldiers do not focus on
bravery and heroics, as is common in popularized war media. Rather Remarque states clearly on

Persuasive Essay On Gun Control
One man with a gun can control 100 without one. Vladimir Lenin. This quote describes how one
person with a gun has so much control over many others that don t. It is a good example of what
is going on in society today because of all the shootings that have taken place in public, churches,
and schools. These mass shootings have created such controversy as to whether or not there
should be more gun control laws. On November 5, 2017, Devin Patrick Kelley began shooting
inside of the Sutherlands Springs Church killing more than 20 people including children.
Before this tragic incident, he had a history of domestic violence towards his ex wife and child
which he was charged with disorderly conduct . Due to his criminal history, he managed to buy
a rifle, that was used in the shooting, legally by lying on the background check paperwork
indicating he had no criminal history. This was months after the Las Vegas shooting that had
taken place on October 4, 2017 causing more than 50 fatalities. These shootings were committed
by convicted felons and/or mentally ill individuals who have made it clear that the purchase of
guns are easy and simple. These individuals had access to firearms because they had either
gained authorization by the government or purchased it illegally by giving false information on
paperwork. This has become a threat to many US citizens, for some do not feel safe because
nowadays anyone can easily purchase a gun. Most people would agree that more gun control laws
would not make much of a difference in the purchase of guns, however more gun control laws
should be enacted because it can decrease the amount of criminals that own a gun, it can decrease
the amount of homicides and suicidedeaths, and it can prevent dangerous situations such as public
shootings.
Guns have been a big problem in society today, and those that stand behind the guns have taken the
lives of innocent people. This leads to why more gun control laws should be enacted because it can
decrease the amount of criminals that own unregistered guns. Convicted felons have purchased
guns through gun shows or through personal connections based on the evidence provided by Amy

our battle with Britain (Document B). Even though it s cold, and we have threadbare clothing

The Nfl s Vikings And The Minnesota Metropolitan Sports...
In 2013, the NFL s Vikings and the The Minnesota Metropolitan Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA)

H. Humphrey Metrodome, the new stadium called for a modern design with a glass façade that
would reflect Minneapoliss downtown. While the design seemed innocuous to most, ornithologists
immediately objected to the plan: large expanses of glass would confuse migrating birds by
reflecting the sky. The birds would careen into the stadium, injuring or killing themselves. The

They advocated for the installation of bird safe fritted glass, which would cost just one tenth of
one percent of the stadium s total cost to install. Additionally, they demanded the institution of a
lights out program that would aid birds by turning off stadium lights at night. Not installing bird
safe glass, they asserted, would be in violation of state guidelines that required bond funded
buildings to protect birds from window collisions. In the release, they revealed that they had
been in discussions with the MSFA since May 2013, but did not feel the need to go public until
Audubon staff were told on July 17 that there would be no change in the stadium glass choice to
protect birds. The MSFA retaliated with a public statement of their own just a day later, seeking to
diminish the issue. In the release, they contended that the design was finalized before state
guidelines for bird safety were passed or the Audubon Society raised complaints. They agreed to
the lights out program, which would not be expensive to conduct, but stated that they do not have
the budget to include the $1.1 million needed for bird safe glass. With this press release, the MSFA
sought to bring the issue to a quick conclusion, not foreseeing the public outcry that the Audubon
society would be able to generate.

Alfred Hitchcock s horror film, Psycho, gives the audience insight on characters who display dual
personality traits. The audience gets to see changes occur within Norman and Marion throughout
the film. These two characters share nothing in common except for the fact that they are a capable
of being normal and committing crimes, showing that they have two different sides to themselves.
Hitchcock uses filmtechniques such as lighting, camera angles, and costume change to demonstrate
the duality of human nature. When the film first starts off, Marion Crane is shown lying on a bed

Lowering the drinking age to eighteen will encourage drinking in safer environments with

teenagers binge drink in dangerous and unsupervised places. According to the NIAAA, almost

Capital Planning And Budgeting System Process

Caesar, Hannibal, and Alexander the Great Essay
It was the leadership of Caesar, Alexander, and Hannibal that heavily influenced the Roman society,
the ancient world, and the western civilization. Ambition drove Alexander the Great to conquer the
unconquered, propelled Caesar to the top of the political spectrum with no birthright, and helped
Hannibal defeat a dominent society in the ancient world. It was Julius Caesars successful military

Caesar s compassion and intelligence shined through. This exposed that Julius Caesar cared for his

The Movie No Country For Old Men
The audience of new movies are tired of the same genre over and over. The movie No Country
for Old Men is a combination of crime, drama and thriller. The movie takes place in the 1980s. A
hunter named Llewelyn Moss stumbles upon a drug deal that has gone wrong, and attempts to take
the cash left behind. As he takes the cash, he quickly noticed he is being followed by someone
recovering the cash. Between the sound, cast, setting, and props, the details put into movie make it
a thriller like no other. After watching it, No Country for Old Menwill be a movie worth watching
again and again. Much detail was put into the audio of the movie. Throughout the movie, the
movie producers used little to no background music. Because of this, the sound effects were very
noticeable and intensified the movie. A scene in the beginning of the movie had a dog chasing
Llewelyn. In the beginning of the chase, the dog was quiet because of the amount of distance. But
as the dog closed the distance, the sound of the paws hitting the desert ground get louder. When
Llewelyn and the dog hit the river, the sound of them swimming helps intensify the scene. As they
reach land, the dog jumps onto Llewelyn, and he fires his gun. Right before he fires his gun and
kills the dog, you can hear the dog breathing heavily. This is one prime example how the sound can
improve a thriller movie.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The costumes fit will for the actors and the settings as well. One of the main characters, Josh
Brolin, played as Llewelyn Moss. Throughout the movie, Brolin had a mullet haircut, wore a thick
moustache, and also wore a cowboy hat and boots. The villain throughout the movie was Anton
Chigurh, played by Javier Bardem. In No Country for Old Men , Bardem s character had a bowl

The Importance Of Reflective Leadership
Reflective learning is important as it allows one to realize their strengths and weaknesses,
develop self awareness, understand how you learn, and plan your own development (University
of Kent, 2012). According to Barbour (2013), reflective practice is the cyclic process of
internally examining and exploring an issue of concern, triggered by an experience, which
creates and clarifies meaning in terms of self, existing knowledge, and experience; resulting in a
changed conceptual perceptive and practice (p. 7). This allows us to better understand ourselves
so that we can grow and develop. There are ten complexity principles that help leaders thrive in
the environment of chaos and complexity. Moreover, leaders need to qualities of courage and will
to be effective. There are several leadershipassessment surveys that one can take to learn more
about themselves in order to understand areas of strengths and areas where growth is needed.
Complexity Principles Reflection
According to Porter O Grady and Malloch (2018), the principles of complexity theory largely
determine how best to help others own their own change, undertake the right change processes, and
understand the new rules of engagement in this postindustrial age (p. 53). These principles state
that leaders should be able to see the bigger picture and understand the broad purpose of an
organization, the importance of the point of service and the interrelationships of an organization,
and how impactful value,

Women s Role In The Bible Research Paper
Women played an important role in every aspect of our lives. Women are the moms, teachers,
doctor ..etc. Many years ago women could not be a priest or a minister in churches, men were
the only people who were allowed to serve in such places. Women are only allowed to be an
internal spiritual or religious experience, but are often denied leadership roles or roles that foster
any form of externalization of their faith . As our guest speaker Nan said, they think women
should stay in the house with their children. They also believe their voices are not loud enough for
everyone to understand what they are saying. Some people would even interpret the Bible the way
they choose and say the Bible states, women should not be in leadership roles in the

The Unnatural Institution
Slavery has been a correlating characteristic among all major civilizations. The Sumerians made
those they conquered their slaves, and used them for manual labor. The Egyptians made their slaves
build large extravagant tombs for the pharos. Romans also forced those they capture into servitude,
but the Romans also turned slavery into a commodity which allowed it to be capitalized. There
where laws that allowed a father to sell his child in to slavery. The development of all of the great
ancient cities has been on the foundation of slavery. Jurist Gaius wrote Slavery is a human

And you who are so busy in making that division of the captives, look with pity upon so much
misery (Yazawa Pg. 19), this statement expresses how one Portuguese seaman felt when loading
up the captured slaves. He lets the reader know that he is feeling compassion for these slaves.
Empathizing and sympathizing is natural, extended exposure to these slave trades would leave
the sailors stripped of these natural feelings. In My Bondage My Freedom, Douglass tells us that
Mrs. Auld was teaching him how to read until her husband found out. Her husband had informed
her that this boy was not a boy but property, and if educated could cause problems. After that
discussion she ignored her nurturing, motherly instincts and would treat and look at Douglass in
distain. The last group that is affected by slavery is those in which do not own slaves and are
not a slave themselves. Initially one would assume that there would be no correlation to the
cause and effect of slavery to this particular group of individuals, but in fact there is. Slavery
being cheap labor is not free labor. In slavery there is a financial cost expended by the slave holder.
This cost is induced through food, housing and more importantly training and tools to complete
production. The slaves were trained in handling tools to complete tasks. Many of the non slave
owners did not have

3.Concentrate on training and developing of salespeople and spokespeople
These two groups have more ability to educate consumers about new products and their benefits.
In my opinion it is very important because the consumers get very confused as CGC provides so
many different products that actually have different benefits. As the products get upgraded people
who work with them should be also upgraded to be able to communicate the message as clear as
possible.
4.Investing heavily on promotion and advertising campaigns
Keep spending money on advertising. CGC should try to stick and develop on particular pro to
make him or her a new Tiger Woods, that would not only bring attention to the company but might
also attract more people to the sport itself. The company looks big enough to hold its own
tournaments that would also bring more people.
5.CGC should implement volume discount policies
By practicing volume discount policies CGC might encourage buyer to order products in large
volumes
6.The company should focus on using its previous models more efficiently
Old models take a large percentage of companys inventory what creates unnecessary costs. CGC
should move these models to new markets that recently adopted Golf as a sport.
3.What is the market opportunity you see for the future? Who is Callaway s target audience? Is it
big enough to help turn sales around?

Descriptive Essay On A Rooftop Trip
What is a clichГ© solution that people say when a person s level of stress is at an all time high?
Get back in touch with nature. But why? What does getting in touch with nature do? Is sitting
on a park bench watching the trees blow supposed to magically bring your heartrate down? How
is a person supposed to lay in a hammock when they can t relax enough to stop chewing their
fingernails? Occasionally however clichГ©s are clichГ© for a reason: they work. Even though my
experience didn t involve a park bench or a hammock, it did seem to melt away all my problems
like, well, magic. The idea of visiting a rooftop gardendid not sound overly exciting to me on that
Tuesday morning in early June. My eyelids were droopy and my mind was trying to find its way
through a fog, but I dragged my feet through the Roe Center hallways with my fellow Bridgers to
the roofof Roe. I was not quite sure what to expect from the trip, so I was going in completely
blind (both as far as thoughts go and due to the fact that the sunlight was reflecting off my
glasses). When the doors swung open, I was instantly enthralled by the views around me.
Stepping out onto the rooftop patio and into the morning sun was refreshing and my senses were
overwhelmed by everything around me. I kneeled down to get a closer look at the plants and was
surprised to see just how many different plants could live in harmony in such a small space. Most
of them were short and stubby grasses of green and brown, thin enough so

Eisenhower s Containment Through Action by Inaction During the Suez Canal Crisis
The 1950 s demanded a certain kind of American President: one tranquil enough to reside over a
post WWII society, and yet bold enough to propel the country through the Cold War. Though a
description of Ike Dwight D. Eisenhower as a strong central leader heavily contradicts the
construed image of a kindly grandfather figure, a bit inarticulate and above politics, a man who
enjoyed golfing and trout fishing over the routine chores of running the government (Neff 37), it is
certainly apt. Eisenhower demonstrated a bold daringness in his time as President; one that was

Eisenhower s view that the way to prevent the spread of communism to the Middle East was by
promoting stability in the region between both the Western powers and the Arab powers went on to
guide his policy towards the Middle East. Eisenhower s goals for US involvement in the Middle
East reflected the president s own cold war ideology and included promoting regional stability,
guaranteeing the free flow of Middle Eastern oil to Western Europe, supporting Arab nationalism
and Israeli independence, improving relationships with the Arab states, hastening the decline of
European empires, maintaining the solidarity of the Western alliance, and avoiding an arms race
between Israel and its Arab neighbors, with the United States and Russia the principal arms
suppliers (Ambrose 328 329). The President s commitment to these goals of maintaining
relationships and containing communism accounts for many of the trends that would characterize
Eisenhower s conduct in the Middle East. Among these trends were: Eisenhower s reliance on
frequent but informal consultations with a small number of appointees; his tendency to try and
delay the inevitable for as long as possible as to allow for planning; his hesitation towards nearly
any action, whether it be to take action or to cease taking action; his encouragement for vagueness
and secrecy pertaining to the Crisis; and finally, his ability to firmly and effectively communicate
his full executive power. Eisenhower s

Holden s Alienation In Catcher In The Rye
Holden never quite fitted in to society s tradition norms and this is obvious from his poor
academic performance, scoffing at authority and his distinct choice of clothing that is promotes
his isolation even more but what exactly is Holden alienated from? At best society, but more
importantly himself and others and since Holden does not own up to his own mistakes nor ever
assess his judgment which purely reflects himself, he remains alienated from the world. Early
one we learn that Holden is failing the majority of his classes and the closest person to being
considered his friend is Holden s history teacher: Mr. Spencer, who is only someone who feels
responsible for Holden s negligence in academic performance but this is nothing extraordinary since

Holden admitted that this idea was idiotic and Holden had no problem divulging this to the
reader and the reader might find this insignificant but quite coincidentally, these occurrences
happen whenever reality is too much for Holden to handle. A great example of this was when
Old Spencer asked Holden if his future was significant to him, to which Holden divulges to the
reader that this subject is quite depressing for him but in order for a simple concept such as the
future to be so depressing, one may infer that Holden has gone through a series of unhealthy events

money you owe. Debt has been both negative and positive for me. From a negative perspective
debt has reduced the amount of money I have to spend on my family and it has taken more
money out of our savings because of the interest needing to be paid if the debt is in the form of

Review Of Robert Mundell s Trilemma Essay
Section I: Exchange Rates Paper
Robert Mundell s Trilemma, also known as the Impossible Trinity, states that a nation cannot realize
monetary policy autonomy, free capital movements, and exchange rate stability at the same time.
While either of the two goals can combine and actualize in any given period, as a simultaneous and
three fold effort, each objective cannot coexist. Together they are simply incompatible. Thus, and
holding true to the tradeoff nature of economics, Mundell s undisputed theory illustrates that in
order for a nation to attain its preferred monetary goals it must give up one desired option.
Nevertheless, it is no easy decision. Before any resolution is made, nations must invest substantial
time and energy into understanding the consequences at stake because the policies that they do
deicide to implement are not only felt at a national or international level but personally amongst
those that they govern.
To exemplify the tradeoffs that define the Trilemma s policy combinations, consider a nation with a
long history of high inflation and a central bank that has limited credibility. Bearing in mind that
low inflation is a primary macroeconomic goal amongst world powers and likened to symbolize
economic stability, would not the aim of the nation be to promote steady financial growth through
deflation? And while the costs of inflation are substantially high on their own, when coupled with
uncertainty produced by an unreliable central bank the costs are only

  • 2. The Relationship Between Democracy And Civility Author Ken Burns (2011) describes the relationship between democracy and civility when he said, But civility is essential to our ability as a nation to confront together difficult issues, even when we may disagree, and to continue to improve as a country (National Constitution Center, 2011). Democracy and civility go hand in hand; without democracy, there wouldn t be civility and without civility there wouldn t be democracy. In a democracy, the model of dissent should be deliberation, yet the long and careful debate we once had has shifted towards violent measures to fulfill one s own needs. The model of dissent has transformed from deliberation to violencedue impart, to the technological advancements throughout the world. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Albert Bandura, a renowned psychologist, studied how some behaviors are learned through imitation. He calls this the social learning theory. It is exemplified in his classic experiment called the Bobo Doll Experiment. The children participating in the experiment were individually shown into a room with toys and then played with them for 10 minutes while either, 1) 24 children (12 girls and 12 boys) watched a male or female model behaving aggressively toward a toy called a Bobo Doll . The adults attacked the Bobo doll in a distinctive manner, either punching or kicking and in some cases using a hammer. 2) Another 24 children were exposed to a non aggressive model who played in a quiet and subdued manner for 10 minutes. 3) The final 24 children were used as a control group and were not exposed to any model at all (McLeod, 2011). In order to study whether these three situations had a different effect on the children, the experimenter subjected all the children to mild aggression arousal (McLeod, 2011) by taking each child separately to a room with toys. Once the child began to play with the toys, the experimenter told the child that these were the experimenter s best toys and she had decided to reserve them for the other children (McLeod, 2011). The experimenter then brought the child into the next room, which had some aggressive toys, such as a toy hammer, and some non aggressive toys. For twenty minutes the child s ... Sustainable Construction Of Sustainable Building Sustainable building Introduction As concerns of climate change and global warming rises, reducing the impact on environment and human health have became the priorities to consider before the construction of buildings. Therefore, the concept of sustainable building (also known as green building, green construction)was brought up, aiming to create structures which is environmentally responsible and source efficient during its lifespan. During the construction of sustainable building, the use of renewable energy can be a significant issue. Compared to conventional energy, renewable energy can benefit from many aspects. By utilization of renewable energy , more nature resources can be conserved and restored, such as solar power, wind ,biomass, etc. The renewable generate much less or even no pollution to the nature environment. For example, a solar powered air conditioning system generate no HCFCs, CFs released by conventional air conditioning, causing depletion to ozone layer. Due to less energy consumed, the operating cost can be reduced efficiently. Furthermore, occupant comfort and health will be improved with a green and livable living/working place. In next section, a building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) would be introduced systematically, which make a good utilization of solar power in sustainable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Symbolism Of Light In Literature Light can be seen by many people, but what really is light? What does it symbolise, or mean to certain people. In Time and Again the light has many different meanings. The light is coming from multiple sources meaning that the light has different effects and it is helping to tell the story by allowing us to use these different lights in order to see a theme. Lightwill allow a person to have different emotions depending on how they perceive it. The first time that light comes up in the story it said this, I can t help but think he might come home at night when I am gone, so I let the kitchen light burn and go on out the door. (2006 Pancake p.83). The burning light in the kitchen is giving the old man a sense of warmth. The warmth from the candle allows the man to have hope that his son will come back home. If the boy were to show up at the house, then this burning candle and the light that it gives off will help the boy by feeling more welcome. The next time that we hear about the lights is when the old man is alone on the road. I pass the rest stop at Hawks Nest, and a new batch of fools line up behind me, but pretty soon I am alone again. • 5. Core Principles Values Of Effective Team Based Health Care In their discussion paper Core principles values of effective team based health care , Mitchell et al (2012), identified mutual trust in teams as one of 5 principles of effective team based healthcare. Within healthcare though there are numerous examples of where a and abuse of trust, misplacement of trustor a culture of distrust, have adversely impacted on patient care as documented in the Shipman Inquiry (2005); the Francis Report (2010) and the Bristol Royal Infirmary Inquiry (2001). To examine the issue of why trust is important for effective team working in healthcare, the author will begin by reviewing definitions of trust, trustworthiness and the psychological approaches to trust development before considering the potential impacts that trust has on team working and performance. An overview of how trust can be nurtured and developed within the context of healthcare teams will also identify the role of leaders in building a climate for trust to be developed. Defining trust 723 Interpersonal trust was defined by Rousseau, Sitkin, Burt and Camerer (1998, p 395), as the intention to accept vulnerability based upon positive expectations of the intentions or behaviour of another. This link to vulnerability between trustor (the giving party) and trustee (the receiving party) was also captured by Mayer et al. (1995 p. 712) who defined trust as the willingness of a party to be vulnerable to the actions of another party based on the expectations that the other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Roman Empire and the Han Empire After the collapse of the Qin Dynasty in the third century BCE, the Han Empire emerged as a massive imperial power in the East. Its culture was compiled upon the teachings of Confucius and ancestor worship. Meanwhile in the west, the Romans solidified their authority as being a dominant force in the Mediterranean. Both the Roman Empireand the Han Empire were similar in their governments as they both supported a centralized government. On the other hand, they were different in the manner of how they dealt with foreigners and outside visitors. Although the Han Empire and the Roman Empire were alike, there are more differences between them than similarities. One difference between the two empires were their treatment with foreigners. The Hans believed that they had no need for them to be included within the Empire. However, this was not the case for the Romans. The Roman Empire would accept outsiders and tolerate them. The Empire treated the foreigners well even to the extent of making them citizens. During this time however, the Romans did not have enough people to go to war. This led them into giving the barbarians jobs in the military. Soon, there were so many foreign soldiers to the degree that almost 70% of the entire army were barbarians. The reason why the Hans looked down upon the barbarians was because the Hans thought that the barbarians were inferior. One reason why the Hans thought that they were so superior was their belief of the Mandate of Heaven. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Task 1 Frost, GKE1 Task 1 Page 1 GKE Task 1 Part A: Over the centuries there have been many different environmental and geographical factors that have shaped the development of the United States. Two of these factors that I feel are extremely significant to this development are the Irish Potato Famine and the discovery of gold in California. The Irish Potato Famine began in Ireland in September 1845. The famine was caused by an airborne fungus, phytophthora infetans, which attacks the leaves of the plant, turning them black, causing them to curl and rot, ultimately killing the plant. The rotting plant makes the perfect environment for the fungus to multiply. The wind then carries the fungus spores to more healthy plants. (Irish Potato Famine, ... • 9. How Does Rosalind Use Dramatic Irony In As You Like It Both As You Like It and The Outing make use of verbal irony. In As You Like It, Rosalind decides to take on a male persona in order to talk with Orlando openly. She gives herself the name Ganymede and dresses up like a man. Later in the play, Orlando has a conversation with Ganymede and does not realize that he is in fact Rosalind in disguise. Rosalind, dressed as Ganymede, chides him to woo her as if she were Rosalind: What would you say to me now / an I were your very very Rosalind? (IV. i. 74 75). Each time Rosalind insists that she is Rosalind is ironic because she is simultaneously Rosalind and is playing the part of Rosalind. Orlando fails to realize this. The two characters quickly make up because of Rosalind s sacrifice. She says that she will ignore her problems to focus on Celia. The characters speak to one another as if they are in a romantic relationship although they are cousins. In addition to blurring the line between men and women, Shakespeare blurs the line between platonic relationships and intimate ones. Larry Charles does the same in The Outing with Jerry and George. In doing so, Shakespeare and Charles are able to play with their respective characters and mislead the audience. THE PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS Nowadays psychological operations are becoming an effective tool in both foreign and domestic policy. They are widely used in the sphere of international relations to ensure the voluntary submission of opponents, to promote the activities of supporters, and to maintain a high level of motivation among allies. One of the most important elements of these actions is the informational and psychological impact on public consciousness. During the Gulf WarPSYOPS effectively used to influence on public consciousness of international community and local populations. Before entering the war against Iraq in 1990, for multinational forces was necessary to explain the causes of the war to the international community. Multinational forces had to clarify to the world all reasons like: the restoration of Kuwait s lost independence (in August 1990, Iraqi troops occupied Kuwait); Protection of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Oman against possible aggression by Iraq; Protection of the freedom of global navigation in the Persian Gulf; Protection of the trampled rights of Kurds and Shiites in Iraq. The thigh bone (femur) is the bone most often affected, followed by the bones of the pelvis, lower leg, upper arm (humerus) and chest. It is the second most common type of cancer found in children. Purpose Of Life In The Mayor Of Casterbridge By Thomas Hardy The purpose of life is trailed by a string of theories, molded by the minds of individuals and decorated with their personal opinions. Some may say that the purpose of life is success. Those who fancy this ideology spend every given minute doing the absolute most they can do in order to feed this new found obsession of success. Now, those same people may say that once they have obtained success, their determination to maintain a dedicated reputation is no longer necessary. Their hard work has finally paid off or so they thought. These people who believe this, are wrong. Success is the product of never ending diligence and persistence. These success stories happen when an individual continues to work hard, even when they have reached their peaks. It is the act of maintaining respect in a position, and understanding that confidence is a preferred descriptor to arrogance. Because in the end, success is knowing that the second someone feels secure in a position, inevitable change has the power to strip that happiness away from them. This very concept can be learned by Thomas Hardyin his novel The Mayor of Casterbridge. Through Henchard s character, the weather, and the transient nature of power and status, people should never be too comfortable in a position or situation because nothing is permanent, except change. It is possible that Shakespeare might have been influenced by this idea; since he play is thought to be set around 1200, it is more likely that a subconscious consignment of information passed from Shakespeare s pen into Horatio s intellect. With a potential new perception of how the sun and moon and earth move in their orbits and how those movements affect things like the tides, Horatio might have equated this with motions and circumstances affecting people and sets up his metaphor to perform a double duty. It is a good example of what is going on in society today because of all the shootings that have taken place in public, churches, and schools. These mass shootings have created such controversy as to whether or not there should be more gun control laws. On November 5, 2017, Devin Patrick Kelley began shooting inside of the Sutherlands Springs Church killing more than 20 people including children. Before this tragic incident, he had a history of domestic violence towards his ex wife and child which he was charged with disorderly conduct . Due to his criminal history, he managed to buy a rifle, that was used in the shooting, legally by lying on the background check paperwork indicating he had no criminal history. This was months after the Las Vegas shooting that had taken place on October 4, 2017 causing more than 50 fatalities. These shootings were committed by convicted felons and/or mentally ill individuals who have made it clear that the purchase of guns are easy and simple. These individuals had access to firearms because they had either gained authorization by the government or purchased it illegally by giving false information on paperwork. This has become a threat to many US citizens, for some do not feel safe because nowadays anyone can easily purchase a gun. Review Of Robert Mundell s Trilemma Essay Section I: Exchange Rates Paper Robert Mundell s Trilemma, also known as the Impossible Trinity, states that a nation cannot realize monetary policy autonomy, free capital movements, and exchange rate stability at the same time. While either of the two goals can combine and actualize in any given period, as a simultaneous and three fold effort, each objective cannot coexist. Together they are simply incompatible. Thus, and holding true to the tradeoff nature of economics, Mundell s undisputed theory illustrates that in order for a nation to attain its preferred monetary goals it must give up one desired option. Nevertheless, it is no easy decision. Before any resolution is made, nations must invest substantial time and energy into understanding the consequences at stake because the policies that they do deicide to implement are not only felt at a national or international level but personally amongst those that they govern.
