Adhesive Capsulitis Research Paper
Low Level Laser Therapy on Adhesive Capsulitis Adhesive capsulitis is a problem that
therapeutic ultrasound, low level laser therapy, inferential current, TENS, and pulsed
electromagnetic field therapy have not been researched enough to see if it works. This study
was done to see if low level laser treatment and exercise improved patients pain, functional
impairment, and active shoulder abduction versus a placebo and exercise. The study was set up
by the Cochrane Library. They researched all the recent articles on electrotherapy modalities on
adhesive capsulitis and then formed their study. It was a randomized control test, using clinical
trials using a quasi randomized method of allocation. There were nineteen trials and 1,249
participants and their average age was fifty five, sixty one percent were women. Participants had
adhesive capsulitis for an average of 5.5 months, and the average duration of low laser treatment
was four weeks. No one was excluded from the study and the only criterion for the study was that
participants needed to have adhesive capsulitis.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Participants pain with low laser therapy and exercise was a 32 out of a 0 100 pain scale.
Participants pain with placebo and exercise was a 51 out of a 0 100 pain scale. The study also
did a functional impairment test (the higher the score means the worse functioning) the low
laser therapy and exercise scored a 36 out of a 0 100 scale. The placebo and exercise scored 48
out of 0 100 on the functional impairment test. The study also tested the motion of active shoulder
abduction; the low laser therapy and exercise ranged at 79 degrees and placebo and exercise
ranged at 70 degrees. There were some imitations to the study; they had very low quality of

Jane Eyre Struggles
Jane Eyre endures the toughest conflict because horrible things keep coming her way like, when
the teachers mistreated her, her horrible school, and her struggle to get to the top of the class. She
endures the most conflict because she the most and worst things happen to her for instance being
shunned by everybody, and getting her hair cut off. Jane triumphs the most from her conflict
because she knows that she will get through and tries to do better like when she struggled to get to
the top of her class. First, when Jane broke her chalkboard, the author said You must be on your
guard against her; you must shun her example if necessary, avoid her company, exclude her from
sports, and shut her out from your converse (BrontГ« 60). The shows

Murray Darling Basin Analysis
Murray Darling Basin
The Murray Darling Basin is a river catchment located in Victoria, Queensland and New South
Wales. It is one of the most iconic basins in Australia. Today we will be talking about the history of
the basin and the people who live there.
Over 2 million people live in the Basin but, people who live outside the Basin still heavily rely
on the water from it, so over a total of 3.3 million people need water from the Basin. The basin
also supplies food for these aboriginal people, like the native fish in the area for all of the nations.
There are 45 aboriginal nations in the basin, compared to Australia having over 500 nations.
It hasn t always been aboriginals living in the basin, European settlers have used the river system

The Pros And Cons Of Cinderella In Disney
Disney reigns supreme, and part of that supreme reign is an unquestionable privileging of
patriarchy, and in particular: whiteness. Beginning with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in
1937, all of Disney s princesses have been predominantly white. As Walt Disney Company sets its
position as a media powerhouse, it places itself the center of controversy with its recent movie The
Princess and the Frog. The film is steeped in racial controversy since Disney first announced their
plans for the first black princess.
Disney came out with a black princess, and a controversy by critics came out along with it, and they
are not pleasant. Considering Disney has such a presence in the American mainstream culture, that
standard they create will stay. The real question is whether she vanquishes stereotypes of promotes
them.
Without fail, everyone describes Cinderella as Disney s 1950 animated blonde Cinderella.
Participants rarely visualize the African American pop singer and actor Brandy Norwood, who
played the lead in the 1997 televised version with its multicultural and interracial star studded cast.
To date, participants always see Cinderella as white. Disney set the standard. Disney scholar Kathy

However, since there is no royal family of the United States, a foreign royal would have to be
involved in the story. The arguments around Prince Naveen should not have been another issue
against the film. With this in mind, many believed that Walt Disneyhimself was without a doubt a
racist individual as he continued to create more movies with racial remarks. The Princess and the
Frog seemed to be another movie to support this claim.

The Watergate Scandal Of Lyndon M. Nixon
On November 5, 1968 Richard M. Nixon was elected the 37th president of the United States.
While in office Nixon dealt with an unstable economy and oversaw reforms in welfare, civil
rights and more. In foreign affairs Nixon helped end the Vietnam War, reestablish contact with
china and improve relations with the Soviet Union. In 1972 Nixon was reelected in a landslide
victory. However, His undoing was already in the works. A few months prior to Nixon s reelection
a group of men linked to the Nixon administration were arrested in the Democratic party
headquarters in Washington s Watergate complex and what followed was one of the biggest
scandals in presidential history. The Watergate scandalwas revealed as a cover up by the Nixon...

1 The Watergate Scandal
I. Introduction In 1968 Richard M. Nixon a 55 year old former vice president who lost the
presidency for the Republicans in 1960 reclaimed himself by defeating Hubert Humphrey in one
of the closest elections in United States history. On July 23, 1970 Nixon approves for a plan for
greatly expanding domestic intelligence gathering by the FBI, CIA, and other agencies. He later
has second thoughts though. A few days later he resends his approval. On September 9th 1971 the
Whitehouse plumber unit named for the orders to plug leeks in the administration steals files on
Daniel Ellsberg, the former defense analyst who leaked the pentagon papers from a local
physiology office. On the evening of August 8th 1974 President Richard Nixon gave his last speech
ever as the face of the United States. His resignation changed the ideas of political trust in the
country. The Watergate scandal destroyed the reputations and revised the rule of law and politics.
II. The Infamous Watergate Scandal In 1972 Washington police arrest five burglars with political at
the highest levels. The president is under fire. Washington DC, May 28th 1972, a presidential
election is less than six months away. Five burglars meet in front of the Watergate complex with a

Management Plan For A Company Essay
Currently, ECA has reduced the IT staff due to an overall corporate restructuring. With a reduction
in staff, Energy Corporation could use Rapid Application Development to build and deploy
applications quickly without the technical expertise needed for traditional programming and
development. If applications can be created with little effort and provide the business users and IT
staff with the capabilities to make changes with just as little effort, then Energy Corporation of
America can continue to keep a reduced size IT staff as well as reduced business user staff. The
applications being built could still provide value to the company without a long development time.
Energy Corporation of America would not need to hire new, experienced programmers that require
higher salaries, instead they could hire few employees and train them on the development
application softwarequickly and let them begin to use the software themselves. This in turn could
also help with some of the miscommunication between the IT department and the business user.
Better collaboration between IT and business users could be gained by adopting and utilizing a
low code development platform. Application developers can quickly build and deploy applications
to allow for feedback for the business users. With quick feedback, changes can be made and
functional application can be redeployed.

By adopting the Rapid Application Development method, ECA can quickly provide functional

A Brief Note On The Barrier Of Participation For Carers
One barrier to participation for carers is time. Some carers may be short on time and therefore
want to spend time with their child rather than talking about them. This needs to be dealt with
sensitively as carers may feel guilty that they can t do as much as they would like. There are
many ways to overcome this. One of these is using home link books. These are books in which
practitioners and carers can exchange information, comments and ideas on a daily basis. Another
way to overcome this is with emails. Providing that all consent and security issues are considered,
email exchanges can work well. Photographs can also be exchanged as well as information so
carers can send photographs of their childat home or during an outing. A third way to overcome
this barrier is phone calls. Phone calls can be an effective substitute to face to face conversations.
Another way to overcome this is parents sessions at a range of times. Parents sessions are good for
relaying information but these needto be held at times that are convenient for carers. Another
barrier to participation for carers is confidence. Some carers may find it hard to be active in their
child s care and education as they may have had less than satisfactory interactions with other
professionals. They may also feel that they do not have anything of interest to add or that their
views would not be of interest. To overcome this barrier it is important that practitioners make
parents first contact a positive one and

Ford Hybrid Case Study
Paper # 2 Ford Hybrid
09/13/2012
Abstract
Which stages of the project life cycle are evident in the case study?
Did Martens select the right two project managers in Patil and Wright?
What are toughest challenges faced by the project manger during a high visability and high risk
project?
Would you like to have been involved with the Ford Escape Hybrid project?
Paper # 2: Ford Hybrid
The Ford Escape Hybrid program was the midterm step of the company s steps of sustainability.
The program was included in the company s long term plans for more than two decades. The
program in the past decade accelerated rapidly due to increased pressure from recently enhanced

Hybrid Project personnel Decisions The task of managing a project of the magnitude Martens was
assigned could either fail, succeed. The scope of the job contains extremely complex engineering
feats combined with a rigid timeline. The only path for success was to find a project manager well
versed in both aspects of the project. Instead Martens decided to split the responsibilities of the
project with two managers with different experience and subject matter expert qualities. Patil was
brought his PhD scientific experience to the table. While Wright brought the can do spark plug
approach to the project. The two will be instrumental in the projects outcome (Salter 2004).
Challenges
This type of project required an organized approach to working out side of the normal confines of
Ford s production models. The bench mark for success is not in comparison to other previous
projects. Large scale engineering designs had been implemented in the past, but never a machine
with dual means of propulsion. The company had already announced release of the Hybrid and the
whole world was waiting to see the outcome (Tierney 2005).
Member of the TeamHaving the opportunity to be part of a team steeped in innovative engineering
tradition would be an honor for anyone in the automotive production industry. The overall project
requires more than just strong management, designers, and engineers. The entire project requires

Essay About Guns
Millie unsheathed her knife as she fell, and jammed it through the skull of the man she used to
break her fall. Though he hadn t been able to cry out, the man s collision with Millie still made
quite a commotion, so the other goons heads jerked towards the source of the noise. They saw the
blood leaking from his head, and raised their guns at his killer. About to squeeze the triggers, the
men suddenly froze, speechless. The darkly clad culprit, who was yanking their knife out of their
colleague s head, was... and old lady? Their moment s hesitation costed the men, for in the small
amount of time they stood, astounded, Millie flicked her wrist and sent the blood coated knife
across the room, into the stomach of the rightmost goon. He... Show more content on

She lifted her sword, with the impaled man (still gurgling) attached, and used him as a shield
against the firing. When the gunman s firearm clicked empty, Millie drove her sword (and man
shield) into his chest, now holding a double goon shishkabob. With a grunt of effort, she
poullled her needle out of the men, leaving their bloody bodies on the ground. Suddenly, Millie
instinctively jumped straight up into the air, just as a line of bullets rushed in from behind,
barely missing her. In mid air, she twisted to face her aggressor, and threw her sword at him like
a metal javelin. It caught him in the neck and embedded itself in the ground behind him. He
stood slouched backwards, and slowly slid down the blade by his neck until he rested on the
ground, blood pooling around him and soaking into his hair. One left. She faced the final goon,
wide eyed and out of ammo, standing a few yards away. Though his face showed his desire to
turn tail and retreat, he began to run towards Millie, bringing his fists to face face level. As he
ran, Millie noticed he had a strange gait, limping because of a severe gash on his right leg,
possibly from one of the stray bullets previously flying around the room. Dodging his punch, she
struck a well aimed kick to his wound, sending him down to the ground. Bending down to where
the man lay gasping on the ground, Millie hissed in his ear, Why is he here?!

Financial Issue of a dealer If the dealer is facing a personal financial crisis this reflects on the
wholesale growth for the TSM
3.Designing the compensation plan for the DSE Maruti has defined the minimum amount that the
dealership has to pay the DSE but apart from maintaining this, dealership does not have a very
liberal compensation plan. The salary of a sales executive is less and the incentive plans are also
very strict and irregular which leads to a high attrition rate.
4.Limited Access to information while travelling or out of office: If an employee is not in office
either travelling or on leave then he does not have the access to the information system i.e. DMS,
ERP or the BI tool which delays decision making
Recommendation for improving sales process
1.The compensation plan preparations: Maruti should not only be involved in the determining the
lower limit of the salary of the sales executive but should be actively involved during the complete
compensation structuring.
2.Framing monitoring of incentive scheme: The sales executive complains that the incentive
schemes are not regular. Maruti should be involved in designing these schemes for DSEs so that
the deserving performers are awarded and also it should monitor that these are followed

Hiv And Aids Epidemic. In The 21St Century, Everyone Has

When it was first reported, scientists were unaware of the how many people were infected with
HIV and how many developed AIDS. By the mid 1980 it was suggested that more than 100,000
men would have already been infected with the virus. In 1983, females were infected with this
virus, and at that time, scientists believed it come from heterosexual sex. In the same year,
children were infected with this virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
reported that casual contact could transmit that virus. However, later that year, scientists said
that HIV/AIDS could only pass to someone through sex, by sharing and injection syringe,
though breastfeeding, and through contact with the blood of someone infected with the virus

Taking a Look at Rosemary
Rosemary has been used for centuries as a pain reliever and cooking supplement. But through time
rosemary has been not only a name, but adapted to modern day medicine. Rosemary may even be
the future aid to slow the progression of Alzheimer s disease. It could be the medicine of the future.
Rosemary, or Rosmarinusofficinalis, was originally grown in the Mediterranean. However, there are
many recordings of rosemaryin Egypt where they buried their dead with rosemary on their graves
or in their tombs. Rosemary was also mentioned in Shakespeare, in Romeo and Juliet, Juliet wore
rosemary throughout the entire story to foreshadow her death. And in Anzac day in Australia
citizens are expected to wear rosemary in honor of their dead ancestors (2014 Monterey Bay
Spice Company). Aside from rosemary s obvious symbolism for death it also symbolizes
memory. Shakespeare mentioned rosemary once again in Hamlet, but this time speaking of it out
of an aid for remembrance. In Latin rosemary is Ros Maris, which means dew of the sea because of
its growth near water and in Spainit is called Romero. The reasoning behind rosemary s name is
because if the story once told about a Mediterranean woman who, in hopes to hide her baby from
King Herod, hid under a rosemary bush when she attempted to flee to Egypt. The woman s name
was Mary and rosemary was considered a rose bush. In the Middle Ages rosemary was also burnt in
the homes of many because of its foretold ability to ward

Inclusive Education
Abstract
A paragraph from Desiderata says, You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the
stars, you have a right to be here. The paragraph is in consonance with United Nations Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organization s (UNESCO) 1994 Salamanca Statement which calls for the
accommodation of all children, regardless of their physical, intellectual, emotional state in an
ordinary school. The Framework for Action stipulates that children with special educational needs,

Mouton and Marais say its time to reconceptualize the classroom and not automatically think bad
behavior is the students problem and something that needs to be controlled. (Mouton, J. Marais,
H.C., 1990)
He suggested several ideas to ensure that classroom setting will adapt to inclusive education.
One, classrooms need one main rule respect one another. After this, if students and teachers create
interesting curriculum with materials that matter in the students lives, then students will be
interested, involved and focused on what they have designed. Two, teachers need excellent
observational skills to determine what caused a behavioral problem. Three, structure the
environment so students are actively engaged and motivated. That will be good teaching for all
students. This will involve collaboration and networking. It also means the teacher is not always in
control, but is a member of the team of problem solvers including the parents, the students and the
other teachers. Lastly, common strategies

Montaigne s Skepticism Argument Of Constant Flux
Montaigne s Skepticism Argument of Constant Flux This skeptical argument is based around the
premise that there is no constant existence. This means that there is no unchanging being nor
nonbeing object. Everything is changing, growing, learning, multiplying, and moving. With
constant movement comes constant changeof both the known and the knower, and since there is no
being nor object that does not change, both the person and their judgement continue flowing, which
then allows nothing to be established for certain (MP, 13). Human nature is constantly in the
middle of being born and dying, and are subject to passing from one change to another as humans
grow, learn and change. Everything is either coming into being and growing, making it a current
incomplete substance, or it is beginning to die. An example that helps one to understand this
argument is the concept of a woman birthing a baby boy (MP, 14). This baby is always changing,
every moment of every hour of each day. At first the infantleaves the mother s womb as an
unformed infant, then becomes a suckling infant completely dependent on its mother. He is
continuously learningthat when he is hungry or needs to be changed, he simply needs to cry. He
learns to laugh and make noises, sit up and crawl. Eventually he learns to walk and talk and then
one day the baby boy is not a baby anymore. He is a boy, and then a youth, next a mature man,
then a man, and finally a decrepit aged man (MP, 14). This change seemingly

The Molarity Of The Sucrose To Find The Osmotic Potential...
The aim of this experiment was to use the molarity of the sucrose to the find the osmotic potential
of the potato.
Most of the results of the experiment show that as the molarity of sucrose in the solution increases,
the percent change in mass of the potato decreases. This is due to osmosis, water moves from a
higher water concentration area to a lower water concentration area. From the results table, one can
see that the mass of potato in the 0.1M sucrose solution increased by 13%, and the mass decreased
by 28% in the 1.0M sucrose solution.
The results supported the hypothesis that the osmotic potential of potato would be somewhere that
intermediates between a dilute solution and concentrated solution. When the change in mass of the

The Incorporation Of America Summary
The Incorporation of America by Alan Trachtenberg discusses historical trends and events that lead
to the rise of America as an industrial nation. The expansion of the West lead to booming industries
that helped grow particular industries. Due to the industrial expansion it lead to a growth in many
industries and the country itself. The author is referring to the expansion of the West and the
Industrial Revolutionwhen discussing The Incorporation of America . The incorporation of America
is an argument that the rise of corporatization in the Gilded Age restructured the idea of American
culture.
The Railroad industry extended to the West as the factory system developed in cities. However, the
conception of the West did not appear until the late 19th century. The West was viewed as the land
of opportunity. The West had railroad development, mining, and cattle ranching. Cities such as

of corporations was due to the industrialization and the American culture moving forward.
Corporations were so successful because they were able to make goods more cheaply and quickly

Sociological Theory
INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGICAL THEORY
Compare and contrast the views of three appropriate sociological perspectives to an area of
social life of your choosing. Why do we act the way we do? Does the mass media really affect
the way a people in a society behave? Sociologists focus on the environment and the social
aspects of human behaviour in order to answer questions like these when studying a particular
society. A society is defined as a large social group that shares the same geographical territory and
is governed by the same political authority and cultural expectations. Culture is defined as the
shared values of a society such as language, beliefs and ways of doing things (Burton, 2013,

Functionalism was introduced by Emile Durkheim (1858 1917), who is considered by many
intellectual thinkers to be the founder of modern sociology. The main principle of functionalism is
that each part of a society is interdependent and contributes towards making society work as a
whole. Each of these parts has to be working correctly but if something does go wrong then society
has mechanisms to deal with them, such as the police and the legal system. Functionalists also
believe that every social institution has many important functions to perform (Burton, 2013,
online). Durkheim introduced the theory anomie , or lack of social norms , that could cause
instability or chaos. This concept bought to light many instances that could affect a society in a
negative way and especially the behaviour of individuals towards one another (Emile Durkheim

Summary Of It Middle Childhood Application Essay
FSHS 110 A Child Called It Middle Childhood Application Dave Pelzer s life started out as many
children s lives do. He was surrounded by a mother and father who loved him and would do
anything for him. He recalls himself as well as his two brothers being blessed with perfect parents
who filled the familywith love and care (Pelzer 17). His father, Stephen, supported the family and
worked as a fireman in San Francisco, while his mother, Catherine, was a woman who glowed
with love for her children and family (Pelzer 18). In the summer, the family would go on a
vacation often times to Portola or Memorial Park, where they would camp in a large tent for a
week. One time, they even went to Johnson s Beach, where the adventures were endless. In this
time, Dave learned how to swim on his back and his mother was so proud of him for it. Every
day was sprinkled with magic, especially as Dave s mother came and gave him a hug from
behind. In this time, he had never felt as safe and as warm as he had at that moment, not knowing
that things were soon to change in the most drastic way (Pelzer 26). Catherine went from a loving
mother to a nightmare while Stephen went from a protective father, to a coward. Dave became the
subject of child abuse, which had an impact on his childhood development explained in by three
well known theorists, Bronfenbrenner, Piaget, and Kohlberg. (Need citationfrom text book)

Pros And Cons Of Bosnian Genocide
Often, there is conflict amongst states that escalates, eventually, into war. With these wars, comes
death and immense devastation; devastation that takes form in many ways. The worst of them are
the human rights violations that occur, leaving behind a pain that is often rarely treated or
addressed. Through the approach, transitional justice, victims of these horrible crimes against
humanity have a system that allows them to seek some form of justice. Focus on the Bosnian
genocide will allow for one to see how a specific case of transitional justice was played out and

The worse of them took place at Srebrenica, where seven thousand men and boys were murdered.
The women were and children were separated; sending the women to rape camps where they
were raped and tortured for months until pregnant. This all occurred in a town that was a safe
haven according to the UN s standards but, to most, never was but merely under the weak
protection of the UN. The victims, which consisted of men, women, and children from as young
as an infant to as old as the elderly were not spared. It is estimated that over one hundred and
forty thousand people were killed, twenty thousand women were raped and over four million
people were displaced. Till this day the bodies and location of those who disappeared are still being
searched for throughout the state of Bosnia with around eight thousand people still missing from
the war.
Originally, the response from the international actors was to turn a blind eye to the atrocities that
were occurring. The first photos illustrating the horrors that were occurring in Bosnia were
brought to the public s attention in 1992, yet the international community still refused to
intervene, despite the outrage and similarity to the nineteen forty five holocaust. The plan was to,
instead, make six safe zone areas that were to be monitored by peace keepers from the UN. But

The Cheesecake Factory Experience
MINH VO

November 20, 2015
PAPER
I personally don t like to eat out much. I only go out and eat when there are any special
occasions. The last time I went out eating was with my boyfriend on our first anniversary. We
went to The Cheesecake Factory which is also on of my favorite places to dine in.
The Cheesecake Factory is very familiar with everyone now. This place is famous for their
cheesecakes as well as the diversity of food to choose from. The Cheesecake Factory was
established in the 1940s by Oscar and Evelyn Overton. Mrs. Overton personally made baked
cheesecakes in the basement of their home for the best local restaurants. In 1972 they moved their
business to Los Angeles, California where they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think anyone can do that, no need to depend on any person. So in case if it was really busy, a
single person cannot prepare cheesecake for all the customers in the same time, others can help.
Besides, I believe ethics are a collection of principles and practices that a business believes in and
aims to live by. The Cheesecake Factory s mission statement and more specific policies about
conduct to give employees, partners, vendors, and outsiders an idea of what the corporation
stands for and how it s staff should conduct themselves. Key areas that are of significant
importance to The Cheesecake Factory start with the general standards of conduct in how all its
employees will be treated by fellow employees and by management. The standards deals the basic
values that we all have, with the expectation of building trust, loyalty, honesty, respect, and a high
level of professionalism within the company. This will create a positive working environment that
will uplift the attitudes and morale of its employees and depending on what your position is could
increase productivity and customer relations. All jobs have a certain amount stress related to it, but
having those basic codes of the takes away a lot the negative personal stress that can arrive on the
job.
In conclusion, I still consider The Cheesecake Factory is my favorite place to eat. Even though I
had a bad experience there once, I think that they can improve it better.

How Muslims Worship in a Mosque
A mosque (Masjid in Arabic) is a place for Muslims to worship God. The sacred space that I
visited is Dar AlHjrah mosque in Falls church, VA. In my country every neighborhood has a
mosque and each mosque has different shape and Design. Dar AlHjrah mosque had everything a
mosque has. There s minaret which is a slim tower attached to the mosque. The minaret shape
was octagonal with pointed roof. The reason for the minaret tower is to make the call for prayer
(Adhan). The color of the whole mosque from outside is white and beige. The mosque has a
prayer hall (Musalla) which is the area for the prayer. Before entering the scared area which is the
prayer area everyone is required to take off their shoes and place them in... Show more content on

After praying we sit and read the holy book (Quran) and sometimes groups gather and read it out
loud and discuss it. We share are knowledge of what lawful and sinful in Islam. The mosque does
not limit interaction between people present because everyone stands in the same direction
lined up next to each other doing the same tasks. In the mosque there is the raised platform
minbar space which seems more sacred than other spaces because it s raised up and it s the place
where the person who leads the prayer imam stands. I came to this conclusion because of the
raised platform he s higher than us which means he has more advantages. Also by the raised
platform the imam is close to god more than us while praying. The mosque helps to focus
attention on sacred actions. The carpet, the minbar, the adhan and the way prayers kneel and
bow all help us focus on how they are doing it. The scared object used in the praying is the holy
book Quran. Some Muslims praying say what they memorized from the Quran and some hold it
and read from it while praying. The raised platform minbar is also considered a sacred object
because it s the place where the imam stands on to lead the prayer. The Quran is more sacred than
other objects. Muslims treat the holy book Quran as something very valuable because it s the
word of God. If the Quran is dropped by mistake they pick it

Employee Retention In Jc s Casino
Well functioning organizations usually have quality employees who work hard to accomplish the

retaining these employees, subsequently failing to fill these positions and fulfilling their
organizational goals. Due to the importance of retention, organizations may hire industrial
/organizational psychologists to resolve retention issues in order to remain competitive in their
field. At JC s Casino, improving retention is an issue not only for the owner but also for the
employees as well as the patrons that frequent the casino. The pay is reasonable but employees are
still unhappy and resorting to leaving the organization. Some issues can be found with the
employees working at the casino, but others can be attributed to the lack of professionalism and
leadership within the different leaders and managementof the casino. For example, it was
mentioned several times during exit interviews that Joe, the pit boss, was toxic, overbearing, evil,

The Moon Compare To The Moons Of Other Planets
Project 1: How Does the Moon Compare to the Moons of Other Planets
Earth s moon did not always exist. According to a theory known as the Big Whack, a roving
planetoid, Theia, and the ancient Earth were on the same plane in the solar system. Theia, which is
believed to have been at least the size of Mars, collided with the ancient Earth approximately 4.5
billion years ago. The resulting debris, material from the ancient Earth s mantle, is what is said to
have formed our current day moon. All of the debris broke off of the ancient Earth and proceeded
to fill the air. All of this debris then eventually congealed and formed a solid moon.
When making a comparison between our moon and those of other planets it is interesting to view
the number of moons each planet has, their size, and their proportion of mass as compared to the
planet. Within the terrestrial planets, Mercury and Venus do not have moons, Earth has one moon,
and Mars has two. Earth has only one moon and this moon is only 1.2% of the mass of Earth.
Mars has two moons and they are 0.00002% of the mass of the planet. The Jovian planets have a
much larger number of moons. Jupiter has sixty seven, Saturn has fifty three, Uranus has twenty
seven, and Neptune has thirteen. Jupiter s many moons are 0.013% of the mass of the planet as a
whole. Saturn s moon are 0.04% of the planet s mass. Uranus moons comprise 0.01% of the mass
of the planet. Finally, Neptune s moons make up 0.02% of the planet s

Essay on Robert Browning
The Jealous Monk
Robert Browning s, Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister involves a jealous monk with much hatred of,
Brother Lawrence, the perfect monk. Irony, diction, and syntax are clearly evident in this dramatic
monologue.
Throughout the poem the nameless monk is constantly expressing his anger and sarcasm through
the use of syntactical irony. This particular monkis angered at a fellow monk, as evidenced by
quot;If hate killed men, Brother Lawrence, God s blood, would not mine kill you! quot; which
seems ironic knowing he is a religious monk. He is taking out his anger to a great extent, which is
not good church practice. Obviously it seems that Brother Lawrence is ... Show more content on

As a monk, he plays the total opposite of an actual monk. He puts down the innocent Brother
Lawrence, when he himself is the rotten one. Browning expresses certain words with diction. A
monk does not watch girls wash their clothes and hair at the bank. Steeping tresses in the tank,
Blue black, lustrous, think like horsehairs, the selfish monk does this, not the innocent Brother
Lawrence. As a monk, one should not look upon women showering themselves and washing
clothes. Being the opposite of a monk he also owns a dirty book, My Scrofulous French
novel...If I double down its pages at the woeful sixteenth print, he also knows exact pages of the
book to look at. Towards the end of the poem the monk plans to rid himself of his fellow Brother,
by sending him to Hell. He speaks of slipping his French novel revealing quot;Belial s gripe,
quot; Belial being one of the classical devils of Hell, the Lord of Lies. One may determine that
the monk intends to present a false message to his Brother in order to damn his soul. It is clear
that he is not following his title as a monk; he is a traitor to his own name.
Throughout Browning s Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister , he exposes different devices used. Irony,
diction, and syntax all play a major role in each stanza. By

Regulator 5. Indicator
The ordinary low power E I core transformer is used to get required voltage. It is basically step
down transformer, which reduce the voltage from mains supply depending upon the output voltage.
The rectifier sections convert AC into DC. The rectifier is designed using four 1N 4007 diode. It
is a bridge type rectifier, which give full cycle conduction output. The capacitor based filter
section smooth the rippled DC and make it as pure DC. The smoothing level is increased by
increasing filter capacitor value. The regulator block is designed using 78 XX series.
The regulator is selected to get constant voltage at output side. We can give input voltage up to 30V.
The LED indicates circuit is on live. This circuit arrangement gives constant voltage output.
Power Supply Design Concept:
Transformer Selection:
Voltage Rating = DC output voltage +5V Current Rating = required current +1/2 required current.
Type: Ordinary Transformer = Half wave Bridge rectifier
Control Tape Transformer = Full wave rectifier.
Example:
For +5v @ 1A RPS Transformer Voltage Rating
Voltage = 5V + 5V = 10V
Transformer Current Rating
Current = 1A + 0.5A = 1.5A
Type:
Ordinary Transformer = 0 10v @ 1.5A Center Tapped Transformer = 10 0 10V@ 1.5A

Activity Series Of Metals
The purpose of this lab was to analyze the reaction between various metals and ionic compounds to
test if they follow the Activity Series of metals. For the most part, our hypothesis was that when
metals and ionic compounds (sulphates) were combined, they will react according to the Activity
Series of metals. In our experiment we hypothesized that when magnesiummetal and copper
sulphate combines, it will produce an aqueous solution of magnesium sulphate and copper metal.
When zincmetal and iron sulphate are combined, an aqueous solution of zinc sulphate and iron
metal is produced. When iron and tin chloride are combined, iron chloride and tin are formed.

If we had a chance to change the experimental design and produce more accurate results, we
would change the amount of solution that were placed on the metals by adding more drops of
the solution to see if the metals needed more solution in order to have a reaction. We can also
have a way to make sure that the amount of metals and solutions are always controlled since we
only made vague or approximate units to measure such as drops or pieces to describe how much
material we put in. We would also clean off the tweezers after getting a new piece of metal to avoid
contamination or just drop the metal instead of placing it using tweezers in other experiments with

/ market share LT can achieve at various production levels ( we must assume that they product what
they sell)
7. Though numbers given in the cost data can not be contested, I would definitely contest the way
total cost has been computed. The item 345 department operates within a large manufacturing
facility that churns out number of other products too. Hence judging the profitability of item 345
on the basis of total cost is not practical.
8. I would like to remove allocated costs and fixed overheads and see what would be the variable
cost. If this is done, you can see that the variable cost hovers around 7 FF. ( Not many of you have
done this)
9. As the product manager, I would argue that my primary task is to ensure a healthy contribution
(Selling Price Variable Cost). This is logical because my salesmen sell other products too and the
selling overhead is an allocated cost. Moreover, the general plant overheads are also allocated costs.
10. My total variable costs look something like this. The one highlighted in green color.

Frederick Douglas And Henry David Thoreau
Frederick Douglas and Henry David Thoreau
The life and works of Henry David Thoreau and Frederick Douglass has had a lasting impact in
the literary field since there work is studied now in most colleges. Although, the writers travelled in
the same circle and were both friends of Ralph Waldo Emerson the pair were not friends. In looking
at the life and works of the two dynamic literary giants analyzing their common goals, work, and
their place in Transcendentalist history will bring more understanding of these authors.
The fact that their work is still relevant today is something that Henry David Thoreau and Frederick
Douglass have in common and the fact that they are both wrote from the Transcendentalist Era
perspective and they both abhorred slavery is also a common factor. Although, in their writing
they both have a different take on life Thoreau having been born free and was educated at
Harvard, and Douglass was born a slave and self educated they still had some of the same goals
since Henry David Thoreau and Frederick Douglass were both slave abolitionist who were
involved with the Underground Railroad and both where very passionate about their work on
the issues of slavery but from a different point of view since Henry David Thoreau could not
experience slavery but, only acknowledge that slavery was cruel and wrong through what he
learned about slavery whereas, Frederick Douglass was born a slave and knew firsthand the effects

Duty of Loyalty:
Definition:
It is a term of corporate law used to describe a corporate fiduciary s honesty to the companies
interest. https://www.google.com.pk/#q=duty%20of%20loyalty%20definition It is a most
important duty of fiduciary duty. The decision makers within the company should act in the
interests of the company. The easiest way to observe with this duty is not to engage in transactions
that involve a dispute of interest. We often call these self dealing transactions. The concept is that
the directors are dealing with the selves, and may not reach an agreement that is fair to the
company. An alternative, that is accepted in most countries because a flat ban on self dealing
transactions can be impractical, especially for smaller firms, is to have self dealing transactions
approved by a uninterested decision maker. That decision maker can be uninterested directors,
uninterested shareholders or sometimes both.
In the United States, if a conflict of interest transaction is negotiated and approved by the
uninterested directors, in a manner that be near to arms length negotiations, including the right of
the uninterested directors to reject the transaction altogether, the transaction is accepted unless a

Essay about Etiology of Developmental Dyslexia
Etiology of Developmental Dyslexia
The long disputed debate about the primary cause of dyslexia is still very much alive in the field
of psychology. Dyslexia is commonly characterized as a reading and writing impairment that
affects around 5% of the global population. The disorder has frequently been hypothesized to be the
result of various sensory malfunctions. For over a decade, studies have made major contributions
to the disorder s etiology; however, scientists are still unclear of its specific causal. Initially,
dyslexia was thought to be a reading disorder in children and adults (1). Later it was suggested to
consist of both a visual and writing component, therefore characterizing it as more of a learning
disability which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it was important to locate the specific cause of the disorders manifestations, it seemed that
the most effective results would be achieved by a collective approach. This kind of approach

The phonological deficit hypothesis of dyslexia is one of the most long standing explanations
existing in psychological research. The theory was coined by a man known as the father of
dyslexia, Pringle Morgan in 1896. Morgan viewed reading as a process that critically involved the
segmentation of text into graphemes (1). These graphemes served as the earliest precursors to
phonemes (the small unit of language), such that grapheme to phoneme conversion is equivalent
to the whole sound of a word (1), (5). The process is said to both require that a reader assemble
and address a word s phonology. Dyslexics are said to have phonological deficits which caused
phonemic representation difficulties; they would often fare worse than others when it came to
mapping sounds into letters in the brain, and with phonemic recall (1,5). Deficits in dyslexics
ability to retain short term word memory and problems with segmentation of words into phonemes
(e.g., auditory discrimination), lent support to these ideas (5).
A study by Petra Georgiewa and colleagues investigated the phonological

Discrimination Against Women s Rights

Women s Rights
Discrimination against women has been a phenomenon for centuries, lack of women s rights and
equality is a long overdue issue that needs to be abolished. The need to make a concrete connection
between human rights and women s rights is ironic considering that one half of the global
population is female (Hawkins 1). Gender inequality is the pressing current human rights issue,
including disparities in education, employment, healthcare, power and decision making, violence,
and poverty that impacts billions of women and girls from every part of the world throughout their
lifetime (UN Statistical Division, 2010; UN Women, 2011a). The United Nationshas extended
efforts for growing global rights effort to compensated the deeply rooted gender inequality
(Hawkins 1). This paper addresses gender based inequality and current global human rights
initiatives focused on women, and action taken by women and human rights defenders (Hawkins
1). While human rights violations can affect all groups, including women (1), women s issues are
not the same as gender issues, although the terms are often used interchangeably (1). In its annual
report, the UN Population Fund note that gender inequality works to the disadvantages of both
women and men through impeding the growth of individuals, the development of countries, and the
evolution of societies (UN Statistical Division, 2010, UN Women, 2000). Women s

Capitalism Is A Social System Essay
For several centuries, capitalism, or more precisely free market capitalism has dominated the
economies of several developing countries around the world. Capitalism, according to the Merriam
Webster dictionary, is defined as an economic system characterized by private or corporate
ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices,
production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free
market ( Capitalism, n.d.). Capitalism is a social system which is based on individual rights in the
free market and is run based on the idea of a laissez faire economy, an economy that is free of
government control and intervention. A capitalist system is operated by private corporations in
business sectors with the main incentive of gaining profits from the free market through the
exchange of consumer goods and services. Therefore, capitalism is generally perceived to allow
for more economic freedom and competition in the market to produce quality consumer goods and
services in exchange of commodities, including wage labour. Generally, as private corporations in
various business sectors gain profits in the market, they can then use a portion of their profits to
contribute towards further building their commodities. This means that the value of labour
increases as workers are provided with higher wages for their labour work.
Thus, overall, free market capitalism supposedly allows for all members of

2. What is known about the 57 men who died? Why did they come to the US? After escaping a
famine in Ireland and coming to America by ship John Stamp six weeks after their arrival to the
USA. They died and their deaths were told as ghost stories and legends. 3. What evidence do the
scientists use to try to discover where the men were buried? They used documents mainly
connected to Duffy to figure out the mass graves. Old maps were and modern technology were
used to search the country side along mile 59. They had to find the area they were living in,
individual graves and the mass graves. They used older maps and matched them up with Google
earth to trace down the graves. 4. What is the first surprise that scholars find when they begin to
excavate the skeletons? Why was this surprising? They found a dark wooden staircase running
up in a rectangle and descending in a corner, hinting the remains of coffins, it wasn t expected
though as they thought they were looking at a grave of cholera victims. 5. What signs or
evidence do the scientists find that at least some of the men may not have died of cholera?

Education During The Progressive Era
During the early twentieth century in the United States of America there were several national
reform movements that comprise the Progressive Era. There are a few different varieties of
Progressivism that focused on receiving governmental aid in improving American life. Individuals
involved in the reforms associated themselves as Progressives and focused on issues such as
education, labor matters, inequality, women s rights, and political and government corruption. The
impact of education on the American youth in the early twentieth century was based on methods to
produce useful American citizens. Progressives struggled to extend school programs to include
realistic components into the education young children should receive. Progressive education...

She is the founder of the Hull House where many different programs were offered such as
English classes for immigrants. There was also a Hull House Music School made available to
many young people. Jane Addams liked to think of this program of socialized education. ()
Humanizing the productive system was needed in order to help change the goals of education.
Addams wanted factory working children to at least become knowledgeable of the history of the
industrial world that they were unfortunately a part of. She preferred that children should not be
working at such a young age and should be focusing more on receiving an education. She believed
that during this time education was not humane. Addams wanted settlement workers to be a part
of a pedagogical innovation that would play a central role in the educational reform movement. ()
Addams spent four years in the Chicago Board of Education and advocated the importance of
smaller classes, improved facilities and better trained teachers. () The social work profession

The Berlin Wall s Impact On Economic, Social And...
The Berlin wall had a highly significant impact on the economic, social and political relations
between West and East Europe. It stood from 1961 1989 as a physical reminder of that divide, a
daily reminder of the divide that still influences the nation today, and a physical barrier in which
138 East Germans died trying to cross. So dire was the Berlin Wallthat Heinrich Albertz, an aide to
West Berlin Mayor, compared it to as if; They are cutting up a city, cutting into living flesh without
anesthesia . Thus it can be observed that so high was its importance, that only after the Berlin wall
was abolished in that the cold warwas finally coming to an end and so traumatising was its presence
that Berlin has yet to fully recover.
In order to come to a conclusion about the impact of the Berlin wall, one must first understand the
context of which it came to be. At the end of the second world war, the disintegration of German
central authority allowed allied powers to take control of Germany. During the February of 1945,
the allied victors held the Yalta conference, a committee focused on the dismemberment of
Germany, in order to come to a conclusion on the current German question . This can be regarded as
the defining moment of which the division between East and West Europe became apparent. As
victors struggled with their losses and the defeated nations lost international favor, the Soviet Union
and USA began a power struggle to become the new global powerhouse. The Potsdam

The Inclination of Today’s Youths Towards Self-Harm
Many teenagers are suffering a hidden pain in the privacy of their homes. They secretly cut, burn,
scratch, pull hair, and bruise their bodies. The psychosis is termed non suicidal self injury
(NSSI).Teenagers are feeling pressures from typical insecurities of low self esteem, body image,
fashion trends, bullying, pressures from friends, and family issues. As a result, teens are turning to
the internet for strategies of how to deal with the pressures of life, making this topic more of a
public enigma, than a private sufferingissue. NSSI is a growing phenomenon and parents and
psychologists should advocate safe internet sites, and force social media outlets to provide links for
teens to access healthier ways to manage their emotions.
NSSI behavior is on the rise and is more prevalent among our youth today; due to images, other
teens upload on the internet. Today many teens are accessing self harmimages and content on the
World Wide Web
, through YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram. The images are of the cuts and
burns that others have inflicted on themselves, while others are of diagrams depicting where to cut,
that parents and teachers will not notice. Some teens will use self injury to try to relieve their
feelings of anxiety and pressures they are feeling in their lives. According to Caitlin Dewey, in an
article from The Washington Post, an issue with internet sites is that they promote the activity as
normal and healthy, therefore encouraging teens to continue injuring

  • 2. Adhesive Capsulitis Research Paper Low Level Laser Therapy on Adhesive Capsulitis Adhesive capsulitis is a problem that therapeutic ultrasound, low level laser therapy, inferential current, TENS, and pulsed electromagnetic field therapy have not been researched enough to see if it works. This study was done to see if low level laser treatment and exercise improved patients pain, functional impairment, and active shoulder abduction versus a placebo and exercise. The study was set up by the Cochrane Library. They researched all the recent articles on electrotherapy modalities on adhesive capsulitis and then formed their study. It was a randomized control test, using clinical trials using a quasi randomized method of allocation. There were nineteen trials and 1,249 participants and their average age was fifty five, sixty one percent were women. Participants had adhesive capsulitis for an average of 5.5 months, and the average duration of low laser treatment was four weeks. No one was excluded from the study and the only criterion for the study was that participants needed to have adhesive capsulitis.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beginning with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937, all of Disney s princesses have been predominantly white. As Walt Disney Company sets its position as a media powerhouse, it places itself the center of controversy with its recent movie The Princess and the Frog. The film is steeped in racial controversy since Disney first announced their plans for the first black princess. Disney came out with a black princess, and a controversy by critics came out along with it, and they are not pleasant. Considering Disney has such a presence in the American mainstream culture, that standard they create will stay. The real question is whether she vanquishes stereotypes of promotes them. Without fail, everyone describes Cinderella as Disney s 1950 animated blonde Cinderella. • 7. Management Plan For A Company Essay Currently, ECA has reduced the IT staff due to an overall corporate restructuring. With a reduction in staff, Energy Corporation could use Rapid Application Development to build and deploy applications quickly without the technical expertise needed for traditional programming and development. If applications can be created with little effort and provide the business users and IT staff with the capabilities to make changes with just as little effort, then Energy Corporation of America can continue to keep a reduced size IT staff as well as reduced business user staff. The applications being built could still provide value to the company without a long development time. Energy Corporation of America would not need to hire new, experienced programmers that require higher salaries, instead they could hire few employees and train them on the development application softwarequickly and let them begin to use the software themselves. This in turn could also help with some of the miscommunication between the IT department and the business user. Better collaboration between IT and business users could be gained by adopting and utilizing a low code development platform. Application developers can quickly build and deploy applications to allow for feedback for the business users. With quick feedback, changes can be made and functional application can be redeployed. 3PROJECT OVERVIEW By adopting the Rapid Application Development method, ECA can quickly provide functional applications ... • 8. A Brief Note On The Barrier Of Participation For Carers One barrier to participation for carers is time. Some carers may be short on time and therefore want to spend time with their child rather than talking about them. This needs to be dealt with sensitively as carers may feel guilty that they can t do as much as they would like. There are many ways to overcome this. One of these is using home link books. These are books in which practitioners and carers can exchange information, comments and ideas on a daily basis. Another way to overcome this is with emails. Providing that all consent and security issues are considered, email exchanges can work well. Photographs can also be exchanged as well as information so carers can send photographs of their childat home or during an outing. A third way to overcome this barrier is phone calls. Phone calls can be an effective substitute to face to face conversations. Another way to overcome this is parents sessions at a range of times. Parents sessions are good for relaying information but these needto be held at times that are convenient for carers. Another barrier to participation for carers is confidence. Some carers may find it hard to be active in their child s care and education as they may have had less than satisfactory interactions with other professionals. They may also feel that they do not have anything of interest to add or that their views would not be of interest. To overcome this barrier it is important that practitioners make parents first contact a positive one and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The scope of the job contains extremely complex engineering feats combined with a rigid timeline. The only path for success was to find a project manager well versed in both aspects of the project. Instead Martens decided to split the responsibilities of the project with two managers with different experience and subject matter expert qualities. Patil was brought his PhD scientific experience to the table. While Wright brought the can do spark plug approach to the project. The two will be instrumental in the projects outcome (Salter 2004). The bench mark for success is not in comparison to other previous projects. Large scale engineering designs had been implemented in the past, but never a machine with dual means of propulsion. • 14. Taking a Look at Rosemary Rosemary has been used for centuries as a pain reliever and cooking supplement. But through time rosemary has been not only a name, but adapted to modern day medicine. Rosemary may even be the future aid to slow the progression of Alzheimer s disease. It could be the medicine of the future. Rosemary, or Rosmarinusofficinalis, was originally grown in the Mediterranean. However, there are many recordings of rosemaryin Egypt where they buried their dead with rosemary on their graves or in their tombs. Rosemary was also mentioned in Shakespeare, in Romeo and Juliet, Juliet wore rosemary throughout the entire story to foreshadow her death. And in Anzac day in Australia citizens are expected to wear rosemary in honor of their dead ancestors (2014 Monterey Bay Spice Company). Aside from rosemary s obvious symbolism for death it also symbolizes memory. Shakespeare mentioned rosemary once again in Hamlet, but this time speaking of it out of an aid for remembrance. In Latin rosemary is Ros Maris, which means dew of the sea because of its growth near water and in Spainit is called Romero. The reasoning behind rosemary s name is because if the story once told about a Mediterranean woman who, in hopes to hide her baby from King Herod, hid under a rosemary bush when she attempted to flee to Egypt. The woman s name was Mary and rosemary was considered a rose bush. In the Middle Ages rosemary was also burnt in the homes of many because of its foretold ability to ward ... After this, if students and teachers create interesting curriculum with materials that matter in the students lives, then students will be interested, involved and focused on what they have designed. • 18. Montaigne s Skepticism Argument Of Constant Flux Montaigne s Skepticism Argument of Constant Flux This skeptical argument is based around the premise that there is no constant existence. This means that there is no unchanging being nor nonbeing object. Everything is changing, growing, learning, multiplying, and moving. With constant movement comes constant changeof both the known and the knower, and since there is no being nor object that does not change, both the person and their judgement continue flowing, which then allows nothing to be established for certain (MP, 13). Human nature is constantly in the middle of being born and dying, and are subject to passing from one change to another as humans grow, learn and change. Everything is either coming into being and growing, making it a current incomplete substance, or it is beginning to die. An example that helps one to understand this argument is the concept of a woman birthing a baby boy (MP, 14). This baby is always changing, every moment of every hour of each day. At first the infantleaves the mother s womb as an unformed infant, then becomes a suckling infant completely dependent on its mother. He is continuously learningthat when he is hungry or needs to be changed, he simply needs to cry. He learns to laugh and make noises, sit up and crawl. Eventually he learns to walk and talk and then one day the baby boy is not a baby anymore. He is a boy, and then a youth, next a mature man, then a man, and finally a decrepit aged man (MP, 14). • 22. Sociological Theory INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGICAL THEORY Compare and contrast the views of three appropriate sociological perspectives to an area of social life of your choosing. Why do we act the way we do? Does the mass media really affect the way a people in a society behave? Sociologists focus on the environment and the social aspects of human behaviour in order to answer questions like these when studying a particular society. A society is defined as a large social group that shares the same geographical territory and is governed by the same political authority and cultural expectations. Culture is defined as the shared values of a society such as language, beliefs and ways of doing things (Burton, 2013, online). When looking at a society there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Functionalism was introduced by Emile Durkheim (1858 1917), who is considered by many intellectual thinkers to be the founder of modern sociology. The main principle of functionalism is that each part of a society is interdependent and contributes towards making society work as a whole. Each of these parts has to be working correctly but if something does go wrong then society has mechanisms to deal with them, such as the police and the legal system. Functionalists also believe that every social institution has many important functions to perform (Burton, 2013, online). Durkheim introduced the theory anomie , or lack of social norms , that could cause instability or chaos. This concept bought to light many instances that could affect a society in a negative way and especially the behaviour of individuals towards one another (Emile Durkheim org, 2013, online). Another concept put forward by Durkheim the sum of all of its parts is larger than the whole , defined at the introduction of the structural/functionalist theory, is as relevant today as it was when first introduced (Gamble, 2008, Online). Robert K. Merton (1910 2003) is one example of how Durkheim s theories have lasted through the ages because his theory of anomie was taken directly from Durkheim s perspective and still remains a major theory in the structure of society, both in criminal justice and sociology (cited in ... He was surrounded by a mother and father who loved him and would do anything for him. His father, Stephen, supported the family and worked as a fireman in San Francisco, while his mother, Catherine, was a woman who glowed with love for her children and family (Pelzer 18). In the summer, the family would go on a vacation often times to Portola or Memorial Park, where they would camp in a large tent for a week. One time, they even went to Johnson s Beach, where the adventures were endless. In this time, Dave learned how to swim on his back and his mother was so proud of him for it. Every day was sprinkled with magic, especially as Dave s mother came and gave him a hug from behind. In this time, he had never felt as safe and as warm as he had at that moment, not knowing that things were soon to change in the most drastic way (Pelzer 26). • 29. The Moon Compare To The Moons Of Other Planets Project 1: How Does the Moon Compare to the Moons of Other Planets Earth s moon did not always exist. According to a theory known as the Big Whack, a roving planetoid, Theia, and the ancient Earth were on the same plane in the solar system. Theia, which is believed to have been at least the size of Mars, collided with the ancient Earth approximately 4.5 billion years ago. The resulting debris, material from the ancient Earth s mantle, is what is said to have formed our current day moon. All of the debris broke off of the ancient Earth and proceeded to fill the air. All of this debris then eventually congealed and formed a solid moon. When making a comparison between our moon and those of other planets it is interesting to view the number of moons each planet has, their size, and their proportion of mass as compared to the planet. Within the terrestrial planets, Mercury and Venus do not have moons, Earth has one moon, and Mars has two. Earth has only one moon and this moon is only 1.2% of the mass of Earth. Mars has two moons and they are 0.00002% of the mass of the planet. The Jovian planets have a much larger number of moons. Jupiter has sixty seven, Saturn has fifty three, Uranus has twenty seven, and Neptune has thirteen. Jupiter s many moons are 0.013% of the mass of the planet as a whole. The decision makers within the company should act in the interests of the company. The easiest way to observe with this duty is not to engage in transactions that involve a dispute of interest. We often call these self dealing transactions. The concept is that the directors are dealing with the selves, and may not reach an agreement that is fair to the company. An alternative, that is accepted in most countries because a flat ban on self dealing transactions can be impractical, especially for smaller firms, is to have self dealing transactions approved by a uninterested decision maker. Essay about Etiology of Developmental Dyslexia Etiology of Developmental Dyslexia The long disputed debate about the primary cause of dyslexia is still very much alive in the field of psychology. Dyslexia is commonly characterized as a reading and writing impairment that affects around 5% of the global population. The disorder has frequently been hypothesized to be the result of various sensory malfunctions. For over a decade, studies have made major contributions to the disorder s etiology; however, scientists are still unclear of its specific causal. Initially, dyslexia was thought to be a reading disorder in children and adults (1). Later it was suggested to consist of both a visual and writing component, therefore characterizing it as more of a learning disability which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While it was important to locate the specific cause of the disorders manifestations, it seemed that the most effective results would be achieved by a collective approach. This kind of approach would encompass ideas placed forth by both the cognitive and neurological theoretical ideas which currently existed in the current research of the etiology of dyslexia. The phonological deficit hypothesis of dyslexia is one of the most long standing explanations existing in psychological research. The theory was coined by a man known as the father of dyslexia, Pringle Morgan in 1896. Morgan viewed reading as a process that critically involved the segmentation of text into graphemes (1). These graphemes served as the earliest precursors to phonemes (the small unit of language), such that grapheme to phoneme conversion is equivalent to the whole sound of a word (1), (5). The process is said to both require that a reader assemble and address a word s phonology. Dyslexics are said to have phonological deficits which caused phonemic representation difficulties; they would often fare worse than others when it came to mapping sounds into letters in the brain, and with phonemic recall (1,5). Deficits in dyslexics ability to retain short term word memory and problems with segmentation of words into phonemes (e.g., auditory discrimination), lent support to these ideas (5). A study by Petra Georgiewa and colleagues investigated the phonological ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Discrimination Against Women s Rights Alexandra Heck Contemp Perspectives Raju Parrakkal 13 October 2015 Women s Rights Discrimination against women has been a phenomenon for centuries, lack of women s rights and equality is a long overdue issue that needs to be abolished. The need to make a concrete connection between human rights and women s rights is ironic considering that one half of the global population is female (Hawkins 1). Gender inequality is the pressing current human rights issue, including disparities in education, employment, healthcare, power and decision making, violence, and poverty that impacts billions of women and girls from every part of the world throughout their lifetime (UN Statistical Division, 2010; UN Women, 2011a). The United Nationshas extended efforts for growing global rights effort to compensated the deeply rooted gender inequality (Hawkins 1). This paper addresses gender based inequality and current global human rights initiatives focused on women, and action taken by women and human rights defenders (Hawkins 1). While human rights violations can affect all groups, including women (1), women s issues are not the same as gender issues, although the terms are often used interchangeably (1). In its annual report, the UN Population Fund note that gender inequality works to the disadvantages of both women and men through impeding the growth of individuals, the development of countries, and the evolution of societies (UN Statistical Division, 2010, UN Women, 2000). • 43. Capitalism Is A Social System Essay For several centuries, capitalism, or more precisely free market capitalism has dominated the economies of several developing countries around the world. Capitalism, according to the Merriam Webster dictionary, is defined as an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market ( Capitalism, n.d.). Capitalism is a social system which is based on individual rights in the free market and is run based on the idea of a laissez faire economy, an economy that is free of government control and intervention. A capitalist system is operated by private corporations in business sectors with the main incentive of gaining profits from the free market through the exchange of consumer goods and services. Therefore, capitalism is generally perceived to allow for more economic freedom and competition in the market to produce quality consumer goods and services in exchange of commodities, including wage labour. Generally, as private corporations in various business sectors gain profits in the market, they can then use a portion of their profits to contribute towards further building their commodities. This means that the value of labour increases as workers are provided with higher wages for their labour work. Thus, overall, free market capitalism supposedly allows for all members of ... • 46. The Berlin Wall s Impact On Economic, Social And... The Berlin wall had a highly significant impact on the economic, social and political relations between West and East Europe. It stood from 1961 1989 as a physical reminder of that divide, a daily reminder of the divide that still influences the nation today, and a physical barrier in which 138 East Germans died trying to cross. So dire was the Berlin Wallthat Heinrich Albertz, an aide to West Berlin Mayor, compared it to as if; They are cutting up a city, cutting into living flesh without anesthesia . Thus it can be observed that so high was its importance, that only after the Berlin wall was abolished in that the cold warwas finally coming to an end and so traumatising was its presence that Berlin has yet to fully recover. In order to come to a conclusion about the impact of the Berlin wall, one must first understand the context of which it came to be. During the February of 1945, the allied victors held the Yalta conference, a committee focused on the dismemberment of Germany, in order to come to a conclusion on the current German question . This can be regarded as the defining moment of which the division between East and West Europe became apparent. They secretly cut, burn, scratch, pull hair, and bruise their bodies. The psychosis is termed non suicidal self injury (NSSI).Teenagers are feeling pressures from typical insecurities of low self esteem, body image, fashion trends, bullying, pressures from friends, and family issues. As a result, teens are turning to the internet for strategies of how to deal with the pressures of life, making this topic more of a public enigma, than a private sufferingissue. NSSI is a growing phenomenon and parents and psychologists should advocate safe internet sites, and force social media outlets to provide links for teens to access healthier ways to manage their emotions. NSSI behavior is on the rise and is more prevalent among our youth today; due to images, other teens upload on the internet. Today many teens are accessing self harmimages and content on the World Wide Web , through YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.
