This document discusses two types of questions - direct and indirect questions. Direct questions use helping verbs like "is", "are", "do" and can be answered with "yes" or "no". Indirect questions start with wh- words like what, when, where and use helping verbs with the subject and main verb. 1. HOW TO MAKE QUESTIONS

2. • There are two kind of questions:
DIRECT QUESTIONS: with verb to be
you can answer them only
saying Yes or Not. with other verbs
INDIRECT QUESTIONS: they with verb to be
are introduced by a
question word (wh-word) with other verbs

3. DIRECT QUESTIONS:
• With verb to be:
I am ……… Am I Spanish?... Yes, I am.
You are…….. Are you teacher?.. No, I am not.
He/She/it …. Is he a good footballer?..Yes, he is.
We are……….Are we from Alicante?..No, we are not.
You are………Are you good students? Yes, we are.
They are……. Are they our friends? No, they are not.

4. DIRECT QUESTIONS:
• With other verbs…Necesitamos el auxiliar Do.
AUXILAR + SUJETO + VERBO
For example:
Do I work in an office? … Yes, I do.
AUX. SUJ. VERBO
Do you play tennis? … No, I do not / don’t
Does she speak English? …Yes, she does

5. INDIRECT QUESTIONS
(WH-WORDS)
• These questions are introduced by the wh-words:
- What : qué o cuál
- Which : cuál
- Where : dónde
- When : cuándo
- How : cómo
- Who : quién
- Why : por qué

6. INDIRECT QUESTIONS:
• Verbo to be (no necesita auxiliar):
What is your name?
AUX to be Sujeto
When is your birthday?
Who is the teacher?
Where is the book?
How are you?
Which is your favourite colour?
Why are you so tired?

7. INDIRECT QUESTIONS:
• Other verbs:
Wh-word + Auxiliar + Sujeto + Verbo
• For example:
Where do you live?
When do I study English?
How do you make this meal?
What does she do?
Why does he study at night?

8. Other questions:
• Where are you from?.........¿De dónde eres?
• What is the weather like?..¿Qué tiempo hace?
