This document provides instructions for making an Aztec mask in 3 sentences or less: 1) Draw a mask shape on a paper plate, cut it out, and cover it with newspaper strips soaked in glue to make it durable. 2) Use markers or paint to draw unusual facial features and patterns like zigzags on the mask based on Aztec mask designs. 3) Punch holes in the ears, thread rubber bands through to wear the mask, and add final touches like beads or sequins.

• White Paper or Newspaper
• Paint or Markers
• Pencil
• Scissors
• Rubber Bands

3. Instructions
• 1 Get a paper plate and lightly draw the shape of a mask using a pencil.
• 2 Cut the paper plate according to the outline of the mask you drew.
• 3 Cover the mask with strips of newspaper soaked in glue and water to
make the mask durable. Let it dry.
• 4 Use your imagination and start drawing facial features on the mask using
a light pencil. The face must look anything but ordinary, since some Aztec
masks have large eyes, ears or noses, while some have eccentric looking
lips.
• 5 Add additional patterns and designs. Most Aztec masks contain various
lines and zigzag shapes. Remember, Aztec masks intentionally look slightly
peculiar.
• 6 Start shading the patterns using paint or markers once the final sketch is
finished. Feel free to add materials such as craft paper, beads, and sequins.
It is better if you include vibrant and tribal colours, like turquoise or gold.
• 7 Cut out the eyes of the mask, so you can see when you wear it.
• 8 Punch a hole in both ears of the mask. Cut a rubber band in half and
thread it through the holes. Tie both pieces of the rubber band together so
you can wear your mask.
