In today’s fast-paced environment, it’s hard to keep up with tactics to reach the newsroom desk or blogger computer screen. In this workshop, we will discuss traditional and new media outlets and how to develop relationships with the media to build awareness of your organization.
Social media can provide your library with a world of opportunity when it comes to promoting programs and disseminating information; yet, to many STEM professionals and library staff, social media is a daunting challenge. What kind of language should you use when creating a post? How do you find the best images and videos to share? What is the most effective way of delivering high quality scientific content? What platform is right for your library’s needs?
STAR Net is thrilled to host Jason Townsend, NASA’s Deputy Social Media Manager, for our upcoming webinar: Social Media Tips from NASA. Jason will pilot you through the universe of social media and share tips, advice, and lessons that he has learned from his experience directing some of the most-followed Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat accounts in the world. While your library’s Twitter account may not have 26.5 million followers, you will surely learn a few tips to help your library’s social media presence blast off!
The World Wide Web Show - Turn your staff into stars with the real-time socia...Chad Norman
Social networking has changed the way organizations communicate online and placed many employees and supporters on the forefront of the social web. This increasingly real-time and personal way to connect with an audience means your staff can become your stars and — given the right tools — get your constituents to tune in like never before. Learn how micro-blogging (Twitter®, FriendFeed™, Facebook®) and social media (Digg®, Yahoo!® Buzz, StumbleUpon) services can drive traffic to your site and engage your audience in real time. See how interactive video streaming tools like Qik, Stickam, and Kyte are changing communication, events, and activism. Learn how the emergence of smart phones means that mobile and location-aware (GPS) giving may be the next big rush. Bring your open mind, questions, and creativity as we discuss these emerging technologies and how your organization can use them to entice your donors.

Online Community on the web is no longer solely designated to your website’s forum or email list. You must now learn how to address and engage with your community in many locations across various social media channels. This session will introduce the basics of the must-have tools, and introduce a few lesser-known tools that will help your organization more efficiently manage your community of volunteers and supporters. We will explore the common pitfalls and give you a leading edge on how to avoid them. We will also look at time-saving, third-party listening tools, so you can quickly and easily have a bird’s eye view into all conversations about your organization and respond to the questions about your organization that are being distributed throughout the social web.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
