Magna Carta In Early America
The magna Carta had a huge effect on the beginning of the United states, it is referred to as one of the
most important legal documents in history. It was an outline for the early Americans to live by. It was
the first time a king didn t have complete power and had rules that everyone had to follow. It was an
effort to check in on the king s powers, known as due process of law, and to strike a balance between
people s rights and common good. The Magna Carta prevents any ruler being aggressive towards
citizens and gives everyone protection of the law. This document was signed in 1215 in Runnymede,
England. Although the magna Carta originated in England, it was used in early America, and helped
them develop as a nation. The Magna Carta plays a big role in the development of the United states
because it made fairness in the law, provided economic rights, and it struck a balance between rights

The Fifth amendment says that, no one should be deprived of life, liberty or property without due
process of law. The 14th amendment also guarantees due process of the law. Due process is necessary
to run a just society, it prevents the government for impacting citizens in an abusive way, a nation is
not truly free without the protection of the law. Due process ensures that the government are forced to
act in a legal way before anyone is stripped of life, liberty, or property . No legal action can be taken
without a fair trial, if this was not a rule, there would be thousands of innocent people locked up,
meaning that the US would not be truly free. Due process prevents irrational things such as lynching
suspected criminals. Even the poorest, and most unorganized must be treated with respect by the

African Americans From The Civil Rights Era Essay
Delana C. Henry Prof. Kim L. Dulaney Cultural Diversity 1020.51 2 October 2015 African Americans
1968 Present Introduction We re not Americans, we re Africans who happen to be in America. We
were kidnapped and brought here against our will from Africa. We didn t land on Plymouth Rock that
rock landed on us (Malcolm X). This quotation symbolizes the sentiments of many African Americans
past and present who were involuntarily brought to the shores of the United States of America. Since
arriving here, African Americans have been mistreated, misinformed, misguided, misplaced, and
misunderstood more than any other ethnic group that has set foot on these soils. In this paper, I will
attempt to provide a brief history and describe the timeline of African Americans from the Civil Rights
Era until the present day. Coming to America History.com explains that Africans first came to America
in the year 1619 as indentured servants in Jamestown, Virginia. These indentured servants voluntarily
contracted to work for a set amount of time in exchange for their freedom. To provide a cheaper form
of labor, in beginning of the 17th century, the European settlers opted to capture slaves from the
western shores of Africa to work for a small fraction of the cost they were paying indentured slaves.
The numbers of slaves that were brought here was estimated to be between 6 and 7 million in the 18th
century. Slaves were used for many types of work such as, picking cotton, harvesting

Red Lobster Research Paper
We all love dining out for good food and laughter with our family, friends or significant other.
Whether it s a birthday, an anniversary or a casual night on the town, eating at the right restaurant, that
offer good food, great price and a fine dining experience is dependent on the restaurant you choose.
That s what made Red lobster my favorite. it is not just a night of eating out, it is an experience. Not
only do they have some of the most succulent crab legs there is, or because they have the best
appetizer which is their signature Cheddar Bay biscuits, but because of the ambience that you are
greeted with when you approached to dine in a Red Lobster restaurant.
The ambience of the restaurant seeks to replicate the ocean. The design evokes an atmosphere of
relaxation at a seaside retreat such as cascading water filled lobster tanks and brightly painted fish
sculptures, also huge decoration of lobster on the walls, which give me a beach like feeling along with
beach blue seats which give you the feel of the blue ocean. Like many restaurants Red Lobster has

Second Wave Feminism In The 1960s And 1970s
Second wave feminism in the 1960s and 1970s, in conjunction with other social movements, built a
foundation for much of the activist and intellectual work that followed. However, there was an
assumption of whiteness in the second wave feminist movement as well as a prominence of
heteronormativity, which blinded most of the populace to activist work done by women of color and
lesbians. For example, there was a whole strata of work in lesbian and gay scholarship which date
from the early 1970s which came out of the gay liberation movement. Lesbians (often in association
with Jewish women) led the way among white women in articulating a politic that accounted for white
women s position as both oppressed and oppressor. It can thus be appreciated ... Show more content

In the latter assumption, safe spaces were conceived more as a practice than a space; many believed or
hoped that women could learn the practice more easily than men due to their common need of the
services that a safe space would provide. However, even as these safe spaces were needed, they were
not easy to find. Women who had a desire to create such atmospheres were unable because they had
no capital for real estate, and no community center would host a safe space for free and on all

Character Analysis Of Lily Owens In The Secret Life Of Bees
Part of growing up is adapting to changes. Lily Owens is the protagonist, and narrator of the book,
The Secret Life of Bees, written by Sue Monk Kidd. After being fed up with her father s horrid
behavior, Lily takes a risk and decides to run away to Tiburon, South Carolina, with her stand in
mother, Rosaleen, in hopes of learning more about her deceased mother s past. Throughout the novel,
Lily learns what family really means and discovers that you can find love even in the strangest places.
In the novel, readers see Lily Owens as determined, dishonest, and jubilant but as it comes to an end,
she s shown as As readers first start the novel, the main character, and protagonist, Lily Owens is seen

getting into a fight with T. Ray, Lily Owens thinks to herself, That s when it came to me. What if my
mother wasn t leaving true? What if T. Ray made it up to punish me? ... But I had such a moment right
then, standing in my own ordinary room. I heard a voice say, Lily Melissa Owens, your jar is open. In
a matter of seconds, I knew exactly what I had to do leave. (Kidd 41) This quote gives the readers a
sneak peek at how determined Lily truly is. She takes the risk of running away from her abusive father

Mass Suicide by Jim Jones Cult
Jim Jones was the founder of the Peoples Temple; a cult best recognized for the mass murder/suicide
of over 900 people. Before the events that made him a part of history, he was seen as a man with great
charisma and visionary ideas; now he is viewed as a manipulator, abuser, and murderer. This paper
will explore the life of Jim Jones and with the use of psychological models, try identifying abnormal
behavior patterns. Jones grew up in Indiana with his mother and disabled, alcoholic father in a small
shack with no plumbing. His parents held very opposite views of race that would come to influence
Jones later in life. His father was said to be associated with the Ku Klux Klan, while his mother was in
support forward progress politics; Jones would come to side with the latter. As a child, Jones studied
Joseph Stalin, Karl Marx, Mahatma Gandhi, and Adolf Hitler (Reiterman, 1982). He would pick out
the strength of each person and this is where he gained his knowledge that led him to be in support of
socialism. Jones was obsessed with religion as a child and would often perform funerals for deceased
animals; one of these animals came from when he stabbed a cat to death. Jones showed many signs of
intelligence; one being when he graduated from high school early with honors (Jones, 2002). Jim
Jones saw the application of the religion to spread his ideas; socialistic ideas to be precise. He became
a student preacher at a church but soon quit because the leaders of the

Task Force For Gifted And Talented Education
Today s society is governed by one simple mantra: we all have our gifts. While this is a relatively
vague saying, there is one concrete definition of giftedness that is seemingly undeniable, and that is
the intellectual giftedness of young children. As elucidated by the Federal Government, the term gifted
and talented, when used with respect to students, children, or youth, means students, children, or youth
who give evidence of high achievement capability in such areas as intellectual, creative, artistic, or
leadership capacity, or in specific academic fields, and who need services or activities not ordinarily
provided by the school in order to fully develop those capabilities (Title IX, Part A, Definition 22). At
first glance, this definition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

students and high achievers will experience an enhanced school self concept due to the BFLP (big
fish, little pond) effect through a comparison with their average ability peers, their school self concept
will be lowered due to an assimilation effect when they affiliate themselves with their less able peers
(Yeung 4). This finding is particularly interesting because it calls the efficacy of pulling gifted children
out of regular classes and grouping them together. In regular classes, the gifted student has an inflated
sense of self worth, and yet as soon as he is put into a room with like minded people, he begins to feel
less adequate and may fall back to an ordinary learning ability. This then results in the student s
frustration with his inability to grasp new material, and with the routine, repetitive nature of daily life
(Farmer). These feelings can persist throughout a lifetime, even as gifted ability fades, resulting in
feelings of depression, displacement, and the dreaded phenomenon of burnout (Kesner

Feminism at Its Best
Gender roles have transformed throughout time, from the domestic womanhood of the 1920s to the
breadwinners of the 21st century. In A Jury of Her Peers, Susan Glaspell articulates the suffrage
women of her time had to endure brought on by the weaker sex stereotype that had plagued the human
brain for quite some time. Annenberg Learner states that the short story is based on a true event Susan
Glaspell had covered in 1900 while working as a reporter for Des Moines Daily News (Annenberg
Learner; Glaspell 179). At first, A Jury of Her Peers was known as a play by Glaspell called Trifles. A
year later, Susan Glaspell adapted the play in short story form and titled it A Jury of Her Peers (Arp
and Johnson 550). Susan Glaspell is known for her feminist writings (Annenberg Learner). The theme,
along with the addition of Glaspell s use of symbolism and irony, transforms this piece of literature
into a feminist classic. The overall theme of A Jury of Her Peers is that stereotypes can hinder one s
own judgment. Throughout the story, the county attorney and Mr. Hale spits out sexist remarks toward
the women characters of the short story. For example, Mr. Hale remarks, But would the women know
a clue if they did come upon it! after the county attorney asked his wife to keep a look out for clues
(Arp and Johnson 557). However, it is the women who found out that Minnie Foster killed her
husband because she was being abused when describing John Wright as a hard man and

The Hack-A-Shaq Strategy
The Hack A Shaq is a basketball strategy used in the NBA, which is now drawing attention. Players
that can not shoot free throws are struggling from this problem. Since certain players can not shoot
free throws, the opponent decides to foul the bad free throw shooter on purpose hoping that they will
miss at least one shot and then get the ball back. Now there are many problems that come with the
issue. The players that can t shoot get jumped on all the time. To show the referee, the opponent jumps
on top of the poor free throw shooter. They could get hurt and players want that to change. Also, the
pace of the games become really slow when the strategy is being used. It gets boring for the viewers to
watch the same guy miss more free throws. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Players need to learn how to shoot free throws. A part of the sport is having to shoot the ball into the
hoop. Players need to learn how to shoot a free throw because it s their job. If these bad foul shooters
knew how to shoot free throws, they wouldn t have ever had this problem. These guys get paid
millions of dollars to do their job, so why can t they just learn to shoot a free throw? You can t protect
guys because they can t shoot free throws, Bryant said, via ESPN. You re getting paid a lot of money
to make a damn free throw, dude. I think it sets a bad precedent. I wouldn t change it. (Pollakoff Kobe
joins LeBron, says hack a Shaq rules should remain unchanged). The amazing, legend Kobe Bryant
even agrees, that no changes really need to be made, and that the aspect of shooting free throws needs
to be increased. Yes everyone does have a weakness, but when someone gets paid millions of dollars
to do their job, they should do it right. The D League, which is the league below the NBA, claim that
they do not need any rules because they do not use the strategy much because they do not need to.
Now why would the pros need it and not the amateurs? The commissioner talks about the negative
affect the strategy has on the people that watch the sport. He says that children should learn and learn
to shoot free throws so stuff like this does not happen again and again

Waucoba Wash Quadrangle
Geologic History of Waucoba Wash Quadrangle, California
The Waucoba Wash Quadrangle, California cross section begins with the deposition of the Cambrian
layers such as the Campito Formation, Poleta Formation (upper and middle members and undivided),
Harkless Formation, Saline Valley Formation (lower and upper members), Mule Spring Limestone,
Monola Formation (lower and upper members), and the Bonanaza King dolomite (dominantly
limestone and undivided). These Cambrian rocks are followed by rock layers from the Devonian
period, thus meaning that an unconformity occurred between the layers. The Devonian dolomite rock
layers include the Hidden Valley dolomite and the Lost Burro Formation (cherty dolomite). These are
followed by the Mississippian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the major things noticeable from the cross section is that quite a few of the rock layers are over
turned, where the older rock layers are above the newer rock layers. This is seen in the contact
between the Quartz Monzonite of Papoose Flat and the Campito Formation which is also a
disconformity. Next there is some fault zones separating the Camptio, Poleta, and Harkless
formations. We then see some more overturned layers with the contacts between Saline Spring Valley
Formation (lower and upper members) above the Mule Spring Formation along with some inferred
folding. With a normal fault separating the inferred folding event, we see where the overturning
occurs. In between the Cambrian layers we see Tertiary Basalt nonconformities also being folded, thus
with that we know that the folding event was more recent than the formation of the Basalt. Next there
is a large Basalt field with a spot of the Harkless formation. Again we see over tuning as the Basalt
field ends there are the Devonian and Mississippian rock Layers on top of the basalt. Separating these
overturned layers from the Harkless Formation and the Saline valley Formation (upper member),
which are not overturned, is a thrust fault. From this information, there was a major stress event
sometime after the Tertiary period causing the rock layers to fold and overturn. And from this stress
event and from the folding, normal and thrust faults are formed. Finally we see that there were alluvial
and landslide deposits from the Quaternary after the folding, faulting, and over

The Devil in the White City by Erick Larson Essay example
The pair of twins sat down in their homeroom class. One was gentle and charming, and the other was
intelligent and had a great future in store. Being twins one would think they were very alike but
secretly they were different. Sitting in homeroom no classmate would think that they were sitting next
to a new definition of evil. In The Devil in the White City by Erick Larson, he decides to include
different styles of ambition and appearance vs. reality to illustrate, that ambition can break one or
make one and everything is not what it seems. Larson s style is to add to irreverent stories together so
that the two major protagonists highlight each other s traits, one trait is their ambition. Both Holmes

His ambition was to create a game which involved the suffering of others. Killing people created him
a sort of pleasure, Holmes was enjoying himself. He had arranged the insurance fraud for money, but
the rest of it was for fun. Holmes was testing his power to bend lives of people (Larson 355). Holmes
always looked for people that he saw as weak and he used them to create his game which to him was
to see how far he could go in changing a person s life. While Geyer was investigating the
disappearances of the Pitezel children he said that all criminals had a motive but no one really saw
clearly what Holmes motive was. Later Geyer was drawn to the conclusion of Holmes wanting to have
power over people s lives. Holmes wanted to control people and produce others a suffering as he did
when Carrie Pitezel was put in a hotel by Holmes in front of the hotel her children were in, without
any of them knowing, that was his game. In the novel both Burnham and Holmes had ambitions but
both had very different ambitions, which led their lives in different paths. Burnham by having the
ambition to want Chicago to prosper became America s best architect. Holmes ambition took him to
jail and eventually to his death. The novel The Devil in the White City, illustrates that everything is
not what it seems using the character Holmes and the creation of the World s Fair. Holmes was known
as a charming doctor that starstruck every woman that he laid an eye upon. It was said by

Nietzsche s Morals
In 1887, philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche had written a collection of essays entitled The Genealogy of
Morals. Nietzsche ideas was an inscribed assessment based upon ethical principles. Nietzsche
analyzes the connections and significance of the contrasting moral concepts in a distinctive section
where he elaborates on the good and the bad as well as the good and evil , by expressing his thoughts
on slave morality that was created by the Jews.
In the beginning, Nietzsche states that the priest is worthless and that they learn to hate. The priest
hatred is powerful that it causes them to be destructive and it is known throughout history. Nietzsche
compares the Jews to the priest caste who were the most hated in human history. The Jews somehow
managed to reverse the moral assessments associating themselves as good but, the powerful nobles
will be known as evil and damned for eternity. However, Nietzsche said, It was the Jews who started
the slave revolt in morals (445)
In the following section, Nietzsche explains that the reassessment of values effected by the Jews was
occurring and that they were not noticeable. One of their achievements was the development of the
religious teachings Christianity. He states that the Christian love violated the Jewish hatred and that
the representation of Jesus and his crucifixion was the persuasion of the moral code. The embodiment
and crucifixion of Jesus showed that annulment of the moral code, was once good became evil and

Ancient Egypt Sports And Games
Abstract:
The ancient Egyptians expected that life after death would follow the general pattern of life on the
earth so they kept in their tombs food to eat, clothing to wear, boats to sail, weapons for war and
sports and games equipment s for their amusement. All the people in Ancient Egypt did many fun
things together. All of them enjoyed the Nile River, such as adults and children that they used to swim
and fished. People went to their temples together, where they worshipped their gods and watched

we do for fun and games. What about the Ancient Egyptians? How did they have fun? From what we
have found out, they had lots of fun. They had toys, games, and played pretend. They listened to
musicians. And, they enjoyed sports. Let s see what we can discover. The history of sport probably
extends as far back as the existence of people as purposive sportive and active beings. Sport has been
a useful way for people to increase their mastery of nature and the environment. Of course, as we go
further back in history the dwindling evidence makes the theories of the origins and purposes of sport
difficult to support. Nonetheless, its importance in human history is undeniable.
Egyptians enjoyed the good life and playing was a part of it, all kings, princes and statesmen were
keen on attending sports competitions, which they encouraged and provided with the necessary

Young Goodman Brown Evidence of Brown s encounter being real is the fact that, when the ritual

Essay about Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Our memories change the way in which we see the world The idea that our memories change the way
on which we see the world and ultimately change reality is a difficult one to understand. An answer to
this question depends on the way we define reality. If we define reality as objective then it can not be
altered by memories. However if we define reality as subjective, then, yes, our memories can affect
our reality. But what do we mean by memories? What do we mean by relationship? What follows is an
attempt to answer some of these questions, and see whether and how our memories affect our reality.
Before considering whether or not memories affect our reality, it may be useful to offer a definition of
the term reality . If we are to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Abstract Principles Of Sexuality And Race
The abstract principles of sexuality and race have always been delicate ideas for society to
comprehend. When you Google the word sexuality , you do not come across a gender specified
definition that constricts males and females to desire only one another. It simply states that it is the
sexual habits and desires of a person. Any person, male, female, transgender, or otherwise, can be
sexual with whomever they desire. So why is the dichotomy of homosexuality versus heterosexuality
such a pervasive notion?
There are multiple myths and facts about sexual orientation. Case Western Reserve University, located
in Cleveland, Ohio, is one of the most LGBT friendly campuses in the country. On their website they
host an page about their gender friendly campus that answers any common questions one might have
about such issues. No one knows what causes sexual orientation. Many lesbian, gay and bisexual
people know that they are attracted to members of their own sex at an early age, sometimes as young
as 6 or 7 years old. Others learn much later in life, in their 30 s, 40 s or later still. Some research
indicates that sexual orientation is determined between birth and age 3, but no one is sure what causes
particular orientations.
As for race, considering and supporting the theory of color on individuals and collaborating the ideas
to our community, in my opinion, seems to be much more of a delicate matter than sexuality. The
concept of race is a modern concept. In the

Islam Is A Religion Of Islam Essay
Islam is one of the oldest religions in the world, and with that has one of the biggest populations of
followers and worshipers. However, it is also a very misunderstood religion. Muslims are extremely
religious people, and they strictly follow the Qur an, however in the past there have been incidences,
in which Arabs have done harm. These acts of few had a negative impact on the lives of many. After
these events terroristic events took place, non Muslims began to fear all Arabs and target them as
terrorists because of the false belief that all Arabs are Muslim, and Islam is a warlike religion. Being
afraid of the religion and its followers, Westerners became afraid of all Arabs and others from the
Middle East, targeting and stereotyping them as terrorists because of how they look. Being afraid of
these people and their religion, the Western countries termed all Middle Eastern countries and the
religion of Islam as terroristic and violent, reasoning that Islam promotes violence and killing. Further,
when events of women being burned with acid by men in some Middle Eastern countries for refusing
marriage, wanting to get educated or not wearing a hijab properly, people of western countries began
speculations that women are oppressed, mistreated, and forced to wear hijabs and burqas. The people
who are not familiar with Islam, and do not know anything about the religion, knowing about these
events, and being influenced by media, put the blame for these events on the religion,

The Federalist Papers
Introduction
The Federalist Papers present a series of essays written by James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and
John Jay. This volume of eighty five essays, written between October 1787 and May 1788, is perhaps
the most famous, and at the same time the most important newspaper column ever published. These
essays are considered to be among the most important documents of the Founding period, together
with the Constitution and Civil Rights Act. In these essays the authors provided facts and justification
for the Constitution, with also raising and discussing some of the most important political issues of the
time. The sole purpose for writing the essays was to convince people of the State of New York to
ratify the U.S. Constitution. People of New York and its political leaders were strongly against the
Constitution and they firmly opposed new government. The main reason for that is the fact that the
State of New York gain independence under the Articles of Confederation and was becoming rich
trough the trade. The citizens of this state believed that they have no interest in ratifying the
Constitution and joining the Union.
The writers of The Federalist Papers were very concerned that because of New York s reluctance and
decided to take the matter into their hands and came all the efforts in order to change their minds.
They were very well aware of the relationship between human nature and popular government.
Hamilton, Madison and Jay were apprehensive of the ethics of the

Sigmund Freud Biography
Sigmund Frued, Austrian physician, neurologist, and founder of psychoanalysis. Freud was born in
Freiberg (now Príbor, Czech Republic), on May 6, 1856, and educated at the University of Vienna.
When he was three years old his family, fleeing from the anti Semitic riots then raging in Freiberg,
moved to Leipzig. Shortly thereafter, the family settled in Vienna, where Freud remained for most of
his life. Although Freud s ambition from childhood had been a career in law, he decided to become a
medical student shortly before he entered the University of Vienna in 1873. Inspired by the scientific
investigations of the German poet Goethe, Freud was driven by an intense desire to study natural
science and to solve some of the challenging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his clinical observations Freud found evidence for the mental mechanisms of repression and
resistance. He described repression as a device operating unconsciously to make the memory of
painful or threatening events inaccessible to the conscious mind. Resistance is defined as the
unconscious defense against awareness of repressed experiences in order to avoid the resulting
anxiety. He traced the operation of unconscious processes, using the free associations of the patient to
guide him in the interpretation of dreams and slips of speech. Dream analysis led to his discoveries of
infantile sexuality and of the so called Oedipus complex, which constitutes the erotic attachment of
the child for the parent of the opposite sex, together with hostile feelings toward the other parent. In
these years he also developed the theory of transference, the process by which emotional attitudes,
established originally toward parental figures in childhood, are transferred in later life to others. The
end of this period was marked by the appearance of Freud s most important work, The Interpretation
of Dreams (1900). Here Freud analyzed many of his own dreams recorded in the 3 year period of his
self analysis, begun in 1897. This

Causes Of The French And Indian War Essay
An Examination of the French and Indian Wars
I.Causes
The initial causes of the French and Indian War are based on the increasing colonization of French and
English settlements throughout the Ohio River Valley area. In the 1750s, British colonists were slowly
expanding territorial settlements into the Ohio River Valley from Virginia. In this manner, the English
were aggressively establishing more land claims and rights for the British government. More so, the
English were cooperating with the local Native American tribes in terms of sharing land rights or
respecting the traditions of the indigenous peoples, which often involved military supports and
resources from the Iroquois tribe. In contrast to this colonial development, the French were also
claiming land rights for settlements in the Ohio River Valley by moving east and southwards from the
Great Lakes and French colonial territories in New France. The French also cooperated with local
indigenous peoples, such as the Huron, to fight the British during this historical period. The Huron
people had a long tradition of trade, and other forms of economic and military cooperation to support
this alliance:
The link that joined most of Canada s Indian nations to the French was not a common faith, but a
common interest in the fur trade. On the even of the French and Indian War, The French government
maintained some forty four fortified Indian trading posts, some protected by a small garrison (Cave
46).
These aspects of colonial were a major part of the French alliance with the Huron, but it was also part
of agreements that the British made with the Iroquois during the 1740s and 1750s. However, the

The Pros And Cons Of The Scientific Revolution
I believe the Scientific Revolution was not intending to be a war on tradition and religion. The
scientists and philosophers of the scientific revolution did not set out to change the world or cause war
on tradition and religion. The scientific revolution developed gradually over a period and was
revolutionary in the sense that it transformed human thought, just as political revolutions have
changed systems of governments. The scientific revolution challenged traditional views of the world
and fostered a new way of thinking that relied on empiricism and skepticism rather than accepted,
fundamental truths, a development which changed the world forever. Due to increased emphasis

The discovery of the natural laws caused many philosophers to rethink the nature, or even existence of
God and his role in the universe. Several philosophers claimed that the universe s laws could be
quantified mathematically. This position, which thinkers known as deist adopted in the late
seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, denied the Christian belief that God was constantly active in the
operation of the world. More directly, it rejected the possibility of miracles. Rene Descartes and others
rejected the ideas that God could intervene into the matters of man anytime he wished, because it
would upset the balance of the laws he had put in place himself and instead, it favored God more akin
to a watchmaker. In other words, Descartes and his followers believed God created all the natural laws
and all the matter in the universe. God started the universe with no planning to intervene, allowing the
universe and its constituent parts, laws and people to play themselves out. This idea did not sit well
with Early Christianity, both Catholic and protestant and angered several church authorities
throughout the seventeenth century. The Italian astronomer and champion of the telescope, Galileo
Galilei was able to gain much more support for the sun centered model of the universe. He was able to
demonstrate the plausibility of Copernicus theory with the publication of his Dialogue

meetings also must be voluntary and student initiated. Students can also engage in a moment of
silence during which they can pray, meditate, plan their day, or engage in any other silent mental
activity (Religioustolerance). Religious freedom is one of the most important traditions and
constitutional rights that we as Americans have.
Throughout the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s public education across the United States continued to
include considerable religious context. In colonial New England the earliest standard text was the New
England Primer, which taught younger children to read and count using biblical references: The letter
A was taught with the phrase In Adam s Fall we sinned all, and P was illustrated with Peter denies His
Lord and cries (Andryszewski 13 14). Beginning around 1913 and continuing through the first half of
the twentieth century, state governments across the country decided to standardize and write into law
the practice of Bible reading and prayer in their states public schools. By mid century, nearly all of the
states permitted some form of Bible reading or formal prayer in public schools. By the 1950 s school
prayer was commonly practiced

One way to assess pain behaviours is to observe them in a clinical setting (although pain is also
assessed in a natural setting as the patient goes about his or her everyday activities). Keefe and
Williams (1992) have identified five elements that need to be considered when preparing to assess any
form of behaviour through this type of observation.
A rationale for observation: it is important for clinicians to know why they are observing pain
behaviours. One reason is to identify problem behaviours that the patient may be reluctant to report,
such as pain when swallowing, so that treatment can be given. Another is to monitor the progress of a
course of treatment.
A method for sampling pain behaviour techniques for sampling and recording behaviour include
continuous observation, measuring duration (how long the patient takes to complete a task), frequency
counts (the number of times a target behaviour occurs) and time sampling (for example, observing the
patient for five minutes every hour).
Definitions of the behaviour: observers need to be completely clear as to what behaviours they are
looking for.
Observer training: in most clinical situations, there will be different observers at different times and it
is important that they are consistent.

On the third play of defense I shot off the line and barely slipped by the offensive tackle who aimed to

getting ready to tackle the running back. I had planted my foot to help tackle the running back and all
of a sudden the bottom part of my left leg crunched. I tried to get off the ground but it was difficult. I
kept trying to stand up, but my leg wouldn t let me, it kept knocking me off of my feet. I eventually
got up on my right leg and started hopping to the side line. The whole time I was screaming at the
coaches to get me a substitute and I was cursing as well. I was about halfway to the sideline before I
started crying, but I wasn t crying because it hurt, I was crying because this was my year to do the best
that I ever had in football, my senior year. I got to the sideline and the coaches guided me to the bench
and sat me down. The trainer Mike, Rachel, and one of the coaches kept telling me everything will be
okay. I couldn t even listen to them. They were just distant voices when they were talking, it just made
me aggravated. I knew it wasn t okay.

Hamlet Revenge Vs Revenge Essay
No trait is more justified than revenge in the right time and place (Meir Kahane). In the play Hamlet
by William Shakespeare revenge is a prominent theme throughout. Revenge causes various characters
to act blindly through their anger and emotion, rather than through reason. The desires of Hamlet,
Laertes and Young Fortinbras each exhibit how the overall theme of Hamlet revolves around revenge.
Hamlet must get revenge on Claudius for killing his father. Laertes must avenge his father and sister

the health system. The world health organisation (WHO) stated that the above conditions are
influenced by some very powerful forces which include social policies, economic policy, and political
instances.
However, the term social determinants are nowadays greatly perceived as the responsibility of large
amount of unwarranted health imbalance. While some imbalances are the consequence of free choice
or usual natural differences, others are of external management of some people or groups of people
and invariably these could be and could be circumvented

Essay on Explaination of Thermodynamics
A Layman s Explanation of Two Laws of Thermodynamics
Energy is encountered in many forms, such as mechanical, chemical (food and fuel), electrical,
nuclear, heat, and radiant (light). Energy has the ability to bring about change or to do work.
Thermodynamics is the study of energy. The field of thermodynamics studies the behavior of energy
flow in natural systems. These studies have rendered two laws of thermodynamics.
The first law of thermodynamics is also known as the law of conservation of energy. This law suggests
that energy can be transferred from one system to another in many forms. Also, it cannot be created or
destroyed, (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2012).
Ultimately, the total amount of energy available is a constant. Einstein s ... Show more content on

The laws of thermodynamics and how they are regarded in terms of energy are as such: the first law
pretty much indicates that you can t get something for nothing and the second law pretty much
indicates that you cannot break even; energy will be lesser than it was before the transfer. The first law
governs the quality of energy available from an energy conversion process, whereas the second law
governs the quality of the energy available. According to the first law, we will never run out of energy,
but according to the second law, we can run out of high quality (useful) energy. The second law also
tells us that high quality energy can never be used again. In terms easily understood, not only can we
not get something for nothing (the first law), but we cannot ever break even in terms of energy quality
(the second law). In this we can realize that we can recycle matter, but we can never recycle high
quality energy.

Analysis Of Bruce Wayne s Batman Essay
In Batman: Ego, Bruce Wayne struggles to fight his inner demons. These demons take on the shape of
Batman and lead to a power struggle with Bruce Wayne. Wayne fights to hold on to what he believes
in and show the world the true meaning of the Batman costume. This fight categorizes not only Wayne
s character but also the character of Batman. The comic pushes the characters into stereotypical roles
of what a hero and a villain are. Initially, Bruce Wayne is presented as the canon good guy or the hero,
while Batman is presented as the stereotypical bad guy . This representation is achieved by the comic
through its use of details. Due to the illusion of light and the use of colors, Batman: Ego represents
Bruce Wayne s character as a being of purity and innocence and represents Batman as a being of evil
and darkness.
Batman: Ego uses the illusion of light to portray Bruce Wayne s character in a positive way and the
character of Batman in a negative way. Every time Bruce Wayne is shown in one of the comic panels,
a beam of light is shown over his face or behind him. No matter the background of the comic, Wayne
is always clearly visible as if a beam of light is constantly aimed at him. By doing this, the comic is
setting Wayne up as a symbol of purity and light. Wayne is like a beacon of hope who strongly
contrasts with the dark reality that is Gotham. This use of light is most clearly seen in a panel on page
54. Within this panel, Wayne stands in the shadow of the villainous

The Sociological and Psychological Perspective to Child...
The sociological and psychological perspective to child and family health in the wider context. The
purpose of this essay is to critically assess current health and care policies for children in a pre school
setting and their family. It will also have reference to the bio psycho social model and its connection
from social and psychological perspectives of children s experience to their health and illness. It will
also cover the importance of promoting optimum health and well being within the nursery for both
child and parent. To begin with some people believe that we, as humans, are complex systems and that
illness is caused by a multitude of factors and not by a single causal factor (Banyard 1996 pp 29 31).

(HMSO 2004). And also with a link to the Common Assessment Framework (2005) and the Early
Years Foundation Stage (DCSF 2008) Research by The Guardian found that only forty per cent of
social workers felt that the Every Child Matters framework had made their jobs easier. Seventy two
percent acknowledged that it had improved the quality of care for children and seventy four percent
said that it improved joint working with other professionals. (Winchester 2009). Therefore the main
findings by The Guardian is that more attention is being given to how children are achieving in school
and to ensuring they get the help they need, rather than just accepting that children have had difficult
experiences, or have been in care thus ensuring that a child doesn t suffer any more disadvantage as a
result. Contrary to this David Hoyle (2010 pp 68 70) believes that there is a problem with the Every
Child Matters Framework and he states that... It relates only to the 150 local authority areas in
England no parallel legislation has been put before the Welsh or Northern Ireland Assemblies, or the
Scottish Parliament . Therefore this raises various issues for children, young people and families who
move between England and other states of the United Kingdom, simply because they will notice

Personification In Animal Farm
The key to the success of Animal Farm lies in the fact that it was not just a political novel. Nor was
Orwell the politics obsessed figure of legend. His childhood friend Cyril Connolly wrote that he was
always incorrigibly political, so that he couldn t blow his nose without moralizing on the state of the
linen industry. Yet such a view is partly exaggeration, partly anachronism (Pearce 49).
Animal Farm by George Orwell symbolizes the Russian Revolution that happened in 1905.
Throughout this book, Orwell compares the book with the Russian Revolution through
characterization, personification, and allegory. Characterization is the representation of a character
who takes on the actions, gestures, and even speech patterns, of certain people. Personification is the
representation of an abstract quality in human form. Lastly, allegory is when a story has a meaning or
a moral or an allegory can be represented as a symbol. Orwell ... Show more content on

It has described the animals to compare and represent the people within the Russian Revolution. In
some ways, he clearly emphasizes the similarities between the beasts on Animal Farm and the humans
whom they are designed to represent. (Letemendia 127). One good example of personification is that
Napoleon is represented as Joseph Stalin. Stalin and Napoleon used violence to maintain order. For
example, when Napoleon used the dogs to chase off Snowball. Napoleon wanted the farm to go his
way, instead of working together with the other pigs and animals. So then when Snowball presented
the windmill idea, Napoleon thought it was brilliant but wanted to claim the idea for himself later and
chase off Snowball. Napoleon also used the dogs to kill the animals that have fessed up supposably to
be working with Snowball. Stalin was widely seen as a cruel leader who would eliminate anyone who
got in his way, and millions of people who refused to cooperate with him were executed as a result.

Descriptive Essay About A Birthday
Daddy s home! I yelled from the couch in front of the window where I was waiting for him.
I unlocked the front door and ran as fast as I could towards him, embracing him in a hug, Daddy!
He knelt down so that his eyes were level with mine and said with a mischievous smile, I have a
surprise for you in the car.
What is it? what is it? I pleaded.
It s a birthday present, but we have to wait for mommy, cause I know she ll want to be there when you
open it.
Okay, I replied slightly disappointed.
Let s go inside, it s going to get dark soon.
Okay, daddy.
He stood up and opened the passenger side door and got a huge box, wrapped in pink wrapping paper
off the seat and took it inside, while I marveled at size of the box and pondering what it could be.
I stepped inside and closed the door, Mommy! Daddy got me a present! Did you see it?
Yeah, I did! I wonder what it could be, she added with that loving smile that only she could give.
I sat down on the couch, in front of the pile of presents on the coffee table, with the bigger presents on
the floor. In the kitchen I could see a cake with many frosted and colorful flowers on it and a big
number seven candle in the middle.
Can we do presents now? I asked with excitement.
Of course. After all it is your birthday. Said daddy.
I took the smallest one and ripped the wrapping paper off. I smiled widely as I looked down at the
brown haired Barbie doll and looked at my mom and dad, Thank you!

The Integration Of Italians Into American Culture
Italian American culture has been immortalized in movies, literature, and songs. One of the movies
that shows the integration of Italians into American culture comes from the 20th century and was well
acclaimed for its acting and cinematography. The 1955 film Marty accurately portrays Italian
American lifestyles and stigmas, specifically males, in that time period and demonstrates how the
Italian people assimilated into American culture.
Getting married was one of the most important things that an Italian man can do. At 35 years old,
Marty has yet to marry or have children, and is living with his mother in his childhood home. In this
time period, it was critical to marry someone who was also Italian. This custom was practiced more
before the time period of Marty but it was still an important factor to consider when picking a bride.
The viewer sees how important this is to Marty s mother, as she asks questions of Clara before church.
Mrs. Pilletti: She s more than twenty nine years old, Marty. That s what she tells you...She looked
thirty five, forty years old. She do not look like an Italian girl...What family she comes from? I do not
know. Something about her I I do not like...The first time you meet the girl, she comes to your empty
house alone. These college girls. They re only one step from the street.
Marty: What are ya talkin about? She s a nice girl.
Mrs. Pilletti: She do not look Italian to me. I do not like her...Do not bring her up to the house no

Essay On Russian And Soviet Government
Russia has been run by many different governments since the time of Peter the Great. Accordingly, all
of these governments had their advantages, but eventually all will be replaced by a new system of
government. The Russian and Soviet governments contain vastly different political systems and
ideologies, but the performance of power by the leaders has not changed that vastly.
Systems of Governments
Tsars ruled Russia for several hundreds of years before falling with the events of the Bolshevik
Revolution. The reign is known for the land expansions that were implemented. Peter was the first of
many Russian leaders to believe ...he did not need the church s guidance, but was directly answerable
to God... (Hoskings, 37). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, a major ideology is the right for the people to have elections to elect their government
officials.
The Authoritarian reign began with the appointment and election of Vladimir Putin and continues until
the present, as he is still in power. Putin uses the ideologies of power, whether in the military sphere,
the political field or the financial world.
Performance of Power
Peter the Great displayed his power in many different ways throughout his reign. He hosted a grand
advent, which would replace his coronation, to celebrate his victory at Azov. His coronation occurred
when he was ten years old; this advent celebrating the Crimean Tatars defeat was the first real outing
of his reign. Later, staged battles that displayed Peter working his way up through the ranks; paintings
and engravings were made to commemorate his victories, often referring to himself and Russia as a
whole as various Roman gods and goddesses. These displays were a way for Peter to display his
dominance to his people throughout his empire, given that there was no modern technology in his
time.
Stalin performed his power in a slightly different way as there was quicker communication systems in
place compared to Peter s time. His charisma and control of the major newspapers led to a cult being
formed with Stalin at the head. This cult prevented uprisings and the population s moral higher. He

  • 2. Magna Carta In Early America The magna Carta had a huge effect on the beginning of the United states, it is referred to as one of the most important legal documents in history. It was an outline for the early Americans to live by. It was the first time a king didn t have complete power and had rules that everyone had to follow. It was an effort to check in on the king s powers, known as due process of law, and to strike a balance between people s rights and common good. The Magna Carta prevents any ruler being aggressive towards citizens and gives everyone protection of the law. This document was signed in 1215 in Runnymede, England. Although the magna Carta originated in England, it was used in early America, and helped them develop as a nation. The Magna Carta plays a big role in the development of the United states because it made fairness in the law, provided economic rights, and it struck a balance between rights and ... • 3. African Americans From The Civil Rights Era Essay Delana C. Henry Prof. Kim L. Dulaney Cultural Diversity 1020.51 2 October 2015 African Americans 1968 Present Introduction We re not Americans, we re Africans who happen to be in America. We were kidnapped and brought here against our will from Africa. We didn t land on Plymouth Rock that rock landed on us (Malcolm X). This quotation symbolizes the sentiments of many African Americans past and present who were involuntarily brought to the shores of the United States of America. Since arriving here, African Americans have been mistreated, misinformed, misguided, misplaced, and misunderstood more than any other ethnic group that has set foot on these soils. In this paper, I will attempt to provide a brief history and describe the timeline of African Americans from the Civil Rights Era until the present day. Coming to America History.com explains that Africans first came to America in the year 1619 as indentured servants in Jamestown, Virginia. These indentured servants voluntarily contracted to work for a set amount of time in exchange for their freedom. To provide a cheaper form of labor, in beginning of the 17th century, the European settlers opted to capture slaves from the western shores of Africa to work for a small fraction of the cost they were paying indentured slaves. The numbers of slaves that were brought here was estimated to be between 6 and 7 million in the 18th century. Slaves were used for many types of work such as, picking cotton, harvesting ... • 4. Red Lobster Research Paper We all love dining out for good food and laughter with our family, friends or significant other. Whether it s a birthday, an anniversary or a casual night on the town, eating at the right restaurant, that offer good food, great price and a fine dining experience is dependent on the restaurant you choose. That s what made Red lobster my favorite. it is not just a night of eating out, it is an experience. Not only do they have some of the most succulent crab legs there is, or because they have the best appetizer which is their signature Cheddar Bay biscuits, but because of the ambience that you are greeted with when you approached to dine in a Red Lobster restaurant. The ambience of the restaurant seeks to replicate the ocean. The design evokes an atmosphere of relaxation at a seaside retreat such as cascading water filled lobster tanks and brightly painted fish sculptures, also huge decoration of lobster on the walls, which give me a beach like feeling along with beach blue seats which give you the feel of the blue ocean. Second Wave Feminism In The 1960s And 1970s Second wave feminism in the 1960s and 1970s, in conjunction with other social movements, built a foundation for much of the activist and intellectual work that followed. However, there was an assumption of whiteness in the second wave feminist movement as well as a prominence of heteronormativity, which blinded most of the populace to activist work done by women of color and lesbians. For example, there was a whole strata of work in lesbian and gay scholarship which date from the early 1970s which came out of the gay liberation movement. Lesbians (often in association with Jewish women) led the way among white women in articulating a politic that accounted for white women s position as both oppressed and oppressor. • 7. Mass Suicide by Jim Jones Cult Jim Jones was the founder of the Peoples Temple; a cult best recognized for the mass murder/suicide of over 900 people. Before the events that made him a part of history, he was seen as a man with great charisma and visionary ideas; now he is viewed as a manipulator, abuser, and murderer. This paper will explore the life of Jim Jones and with the use of psychological models, try identifying abnormal behavior patterns. Jones grew up in Indiana with his mother and disabled, alcoholic father in a small shack with no plumbing. His parents held very opposite views of race that would come to influence Jones later in life. His father was said to be associated with the Ku Klux Klan, while his mother was in support forward progress politics; Jones would come to side with the latter. As a child, Jones studied Joseph Stalin, Karl Marx, Mahatma Gandhi, and Adolf Hitler (Reiterman, 1982). He would pick out the strength of each person and this is where he gained his knowledge that led him to be in support of socialism. Jones was obsessed with religion as a child and would often perform funerals for deceased animals; one of these animals came from when he stabbed a cat to death. Jones showed many signs of intelligence; one being when he graduated from high school early with honors (Jones, 2002). Jim Jones saw the application of the religion to spread his ideas; socialistic ideas to be precise. He became a student preacher at a church but soon quit because the leaders of the ... • 8. Task Force For Gifted And Talented Education Today s society is governed by one simple mantra: we all have our gifts. While this is a relatively vague saying, there is one concrete definition of giftedness that is seemingly undeniable, and that is the intellectual giftedness of young children. As elucidated by the Federal Government, the term gifted and talented, when used with respect to students, children, or youth, means students, children, or youth who give evidence of high achievement capability in such areas as intellectual, creative, artistic, or leadership capacity, or in specific academic fields, and who need services or activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop those capabilities (Title IX, Part A, Definition 22). A paper presented in 2005 at the Australian Association for Research in Education reports that ...gifted students and high achievers will experience an enhanced school self concept due to the BFLP (big fish, little pond) effect through a comparison with their average ability peers, their school self concept will be lowered due to an assimilation effect when they affiliate themselves with their less able peers (Yeung 4). This finding is particularly interesting because it calls the efficacy of pulling gifted children out of regular classes and grouping them together. In regular classes, the gifted student has an inflated sense of self worth, and yet as soon as he is put into a room with like minded people, he begins to feel less adequate and may fall back to an ordinary learning ability. This then results in the student s frustration with his inability to grasp new material, and with the routine, repetitive nature of daily life (Farmer). These feelings can persist throughout a lifetime, even as gifted ability fades, resulting in feelings of depression, displacement, and the dreaded phenomenon of burnout (Kesner ... • 9. Feminism at Its Best Gender roles have transformed throughout time, from the domestic womanhood of the 1920s to the breadwinners of the 21st century. In A Jury of Her Peers, Susan Glaspell articulates the suffrage women of her time had to endure brought on by the weaker sex stereotype that had plagued the human brain for quite some time. Annenberg Learner states that the short story is based on a true event Susan Glaspell had covered in 1900 while working as a reporter for Des Moines Daily News (Annenberg Learner; Glaspell 179). At first, A Jury of Her Peers was known as a play by Glaspell called Trifles. A year later, Susan Glaspell adapted the play in short story form and titled it A Jury of Her Peers (Arp and Johnson 550). Susan Glaspell is known for her feminist writings (Annenberg Learner). The theme, along with the addition of Glaspell s use of symbolism and irony, transforms this piece of literature into a feminist classic. The overall theme of A Jury of Her Peers is that stereotypes can hinder one s own judgment. Throughout the story, the county attorney and Mr. Hale spits out sexist remarks toward the women characters of the short story. For example, Mr. Hale remarks, But would the women know a clue if they did come upon it! after the county attorney asked his wife to keep a look out for clues (Arp and Johnson 557). Since certain players can not shoot free throws, the opponent decides to foul the bad free throw shooter on purpose hoping that they will miss at least one shot and then get the ball back. Now there are many problems that come with the issue. The players that can t shoot get jumped on all the time. To show the referee, the opponent jumps on top of the poor free throw shooter. They could get hurt and players want that to change. Also, the pace of the games become really slow when the strategy is being used. A part of the sport is having to shoot the ball into the hoop. Players need to learn how to shoot a free throw because it s their job. If these bad foul shooters knew how to shoot free throws, they wouldn t have ever had this problem. These guys get paid millions of dollars to do their job, so why can t they just learn to shoot a free throw? You can t protect guys because they can t shoot free throws, Bryant said, via ESPN. You re getting paid a lot of money to make a damn free throw, dude. I think it sets a bad precedent. I wouldn t change it. The amazing, legend Kobe Bryant even agrees, that no changes really need to be made, and that the aspect of shooting free throws needs to be increased. Yes everyone does have a weakness, but when someone gets paid millions of dollars to do their job, they should do it right. The D League, which is the league below the NBA, claim that they do not need any rules because they do not use the strategy much because they do not need to. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the major things noticeable from the cross section is that quite a few of the rock layers are over turned, where the older rock layers are above the newer rock layers. This is seen in the contact between the Quartz Monzonite of Papoose Flat and the Campito Formation which is also a disconformity. Next there is some fault zones separating the Camptio, Poleta, and Harkless formations. We then see some more overturned layers with the contacts between Saline Spring Valley Formation (lower and upper members) above the Mule Spring Formation along with some inferred folding. With a normal fault separating the inferred folding event, we see where the overturning occurs. In between the Cambrian layers we see Tertiary Basalt nonconformities also being folded, thus with that we know that the folding event was more recent than the formation of the Basalt. Next there is a large Basalt field with a spot of the Harkless formation. Again we see over tuning as the Basalt field ends there are the Devonian and Mississippian rock Layers on top of the basalt. Separating these overturned layers from the Harkless Formation and the Saline valley Formation (upper member), which are not overturned, is a thrust fault. From this information, there was a major stress event sometime after the Tertiary period causing the rock layers to fold and overturn. And from this stress event and from the folding, normal and thrust faults are formed. Finally we see that there were alluvial and landslide deposits from the Quaternary after the folding, faulting, and over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Holmes always looked for people that he saw as weak and he used them to create his game which to him was to see how far he could go in changing a person s life. While Geyer was investigating the disappearances of the Pitezel children he said that all criminals had a motive but no one really saw clearly what Holmes motive was. Holmes wanted to control people and produce others a suffering as he did when Carrie Pitezel was put in a hotel by Holmes in front of the hotel her children were in, without any of them knowing, that was his game. Nietzsche ideas was an inscribed assessment based upon ethical principles. Nietzsche analyzes the connections and significance of the contrasting moral concepts in a distinctive section where he elaborates on the good and the bad as well as the good and evil , by expressing his thoughts on slave morality that was created by the Jews. In the beginning, Nietzsche states that the priest is worthless and that they learn to hate. The priest hatred is powerful that it causes them to be destructive and it is known throughout history. Nietzsche compares the Jews to the priest caste who were the most hated in human history. The Jews somehow managed to reverse the moral assessments associating themselves as good but, the powerful nobles will be known as evil and damned for eternity. However, Nietzsche said, It was the Jews who started the slave revolt in morals (445) In the following section, Nietzsche explains that the reassessment of values effected by the Jews was occurring and that they were not noticeable. One of their achievements was the development of the religious teachings Christianity. The history of sport probably extends as far back as the existence of people as purposive sportive and active beings. Essay about Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Our memories change the way in which we see the world The idea that our memories change the way on which we see the world and ultimately change reality is a difficult one to understand. An answer to this question depends on the way we define reality. If we define reality as objective then it can not be altered by memories. However if we define reality as subjective, then, yes, our memories can affect our reality. But what do we mean by memories? What do we mean by relationship? What follows is an attempt to answer some of these questions, and see whether and how our memories affect our reality. When you Google the word sexuality , you do not come across a gender specified definition that constricts males and females to desire only one another. It simply states that it is the sexual habits and desires of a person. Any person, male, female, transgender, or otherwise, can be sexual with whomever they desire. He traced the operation of unconscious processes, using the free associations of the patient to guide him in the interpretation of dreams and slips of speech. Dream analysis led to his discoveries of infantile sexuality and of the so called Oedipus complex, which constitutes the erotic attachment of the child for the parent of the opposite sex, together with hostile feelings toward the other parent. In these years he also developed the theory of transference, the process by which emotional attitudes, established originally toward parental figures in childhood, are transferred in later life to others. • 26. Causes Of The French And Indian War Essay An Examination of the French and Indian Wars I.Causes The initial causes of the French and Indian War are based on the increasing colonization of French and English settlements throughout the Ohio River Valley area. In the 1750s, British colonists were slowly expanding territorial settlements into the Ohio River Valley from Virginia. In this manner, the English were aggressively establishing more land claims and rights for the British government. More so, the English were cooperating with the local Native American tribes in terms of sharing land rights or respecting the traditions of the indigenous peoples, which often involved military supports and resources from the Iroquois tribe. In contrast to this colonial development, the French were also claiming land rights for settlements in the Ohio River Valley by moving east and southwards from the Great Lakes and French colonial territories in New France. The French also cooperated with local indigenous peoples, such as the Huron, to fight the British during this historical period. The Huron people had a long tradition of trade, and other forms of economic and military cooperation to support this alliance: The link that joined most of Canada s Indian nations to the French was not a common faith, but a common interest in the fur trade. On the even of the French and Indian War, The French government maintained some forty four fortified Indian trading posts, some protected by a small garrison (Cave 46). These aspects of colonial were a major part of the French alliance with the Huron, but it was also part of agreements that the British made with the Iroquois during the 1740s and 1750s. The discovery of the natural laws caused many philosophers to rethink the nature, or even existence of God and his role in the universe. Several philosophers claimed that the universe s laws could be quantified mathematically. This position, which thinkers known as deist adopted in the late seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, denied the Christian belief that God was constantly active in the operation of the world. More directly, it rejected the possibility of miracles. Rene Descartes and others rejected the ideas that God could intervene into the matters of man anytime he wished, because it would upset the balance of the laws he had put in place himself and instead, it favored God more akin to a watchmaker. In other words, Descartes and his followers believed God created all the natural laws and all the matter in the universe. God started the universe with no planning to intervene, allowing the universe and its constituent parts, laws and people to play themselves out. The ozone that is commonly associated with ozone depletion and the ozone hole is in the stratosphere, a layer that extends upward from about 10 to 30 miles (15 to 50 kilometers) above the earth. This good ozone shields life on earth from the sun s harmful ultraviolet rays (UV b). The layer surrounding the earth s surface is the troposphere. Here, ground level or bad ozone is an air pollutant that damages human health, vegetation, and many common materials. It is a key ingredient of urban smog. The troposphere extends from the surface to about 10 miles (15 kilometers) above the surface. Essay on Explaination of Thermodynamics A Layman s Explanation of Two Laws of Thermodynamics Energy is encountered in many forms, such as mechanical, chemical (food and fuel), electrical, nuclear, heat, and radiant (light). Energy has the ability to bring about change or to do work. Thermodynamics is the study of energy. The field of thermodynamics studies the behavior of energy flow in natural systems. These studies have rendered two laws of thermodynamics. The first law of thermodynamics is also known as the law of conservation of energy. This law suggests that energy can be transferred from one system to another in many forms. Also, it cannot be created or destroyed, (Encyclopedia Britannica, 2012). Ultimately, the total amount of energy available is a constant. Einstein s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The laws of thermodynamics and how they are regarded in terms of energy are as such: the first law pretty much indicates that you can t get something for nothing and the second law pretty much indicates that you cannot break even; energy will be lesser than it was before the transfer. The first law governs the quality of energy available from an energy conversion process, whereas the second law governs the quality of the energy available. According to the first law, we will never run out of energy, but according to the second law, we can run out of high quality (useful) energy. The second law also tells us that high quality energy can never be used again. In terms easily understood, not only can we not get something for nothing (the first law), but we cannot ever break even in terms of energy quality (the second law). In this we can realize that we can recycle matter, but we can never recycle high quality energy. References Boulle, P. (2012). In Encyclopedia Britannica. • 45. Analysis Of Bruce Wayne s Batman Essay In Batman: Ego, Bruce Wayne struggles to fight his inner demons. These demons take on the shape of Batman and lead to a power struggle with Bruce Wayne. Wayne fights to hold on to what he believes in and show the world the true meaning of the Batman costume. This fight categorizes not only Wayne s character but also the character of Batman. The comic pushes the characters into stereotypical roles of what a hero and a villain are. Initially, Bruce Wayne is presented as the canon good guy or the hero, while Batman is presented as the stereotypical bad guy . This representation is achieved by the comic through its use of details. Due to the illusion of light and the use of colors, Batman: Ego represents Bruce Wayne s character as a being of purity and innocence and represents Batman as a being of evil and darkness. Batman: Ego uses the illusion of light to portray Bruce Wayne s character in a positive way and the character of Batman in a negative way. Every time Bruce Wayne is shown in one of the comic panels, a beam of light is shown over his face or behind him. No matter the background of the comic, Wayne is always clearly visible as if a beam of light is constantly aimed at him. By doing this, the comic is setting Wayne up as a symbol of purity and light. Wayne is like a beacon of hope who strongly contrasts with the dark reality that is Gotham. This use of light is most clearly seen in a panel on page 54. • 47. Personification In Animal Farm The key to the success of Animal Farm lies in the fact that it was not just a political novel. Nor was Orwell the politics obsessed figure of legend. His childhood friend Cyril Connolly wrote that he was always incorrigibly political, so that he couldn t blow his nose without moralizing on the state of the linen industry. Yet such a view is partly exaggeration, partly anachronism (Pearce 49). Animal Farm by George Orwell symbolizes the Russian Revolution that happened in 1905. Throughout this book, Orwell compares the book with the Russian Revolution through characterization, personification, and allegory. Characterization is the representation of a character who takes on the actions, gestures, and even speech patterns, of certain people. Personification is the representation of an abstract quality in human form. Lastly, allegory is when a story has a meaning or a moral or an allegory can be represented as a symbol. Orwell ... For example, when Napoleon used the dogs to chase off Snowball. Napoleon wanted the farm to go his way, instead of working together with the other pigs and animals. So then when Snowball presented the windmill idea, Napoleon thought it was brilliant but wanted to claim the idea for himself later and chase off Snowball.
