1. How to draw Anime Expressions
In this tutorial, I will teach you a few
ways to give your character some
pizzazz!!

2. Why do I want to teach you this??
• Mainly because people always ask me “How
DID you draw that??” and I am typically bad at
explaining things in person, so why not give it
a shot through text and pictures?? Hehehe!!
• I’ve always wanted to make an expression
tutorial, since I love drawing and I really enjoy
giving my characters personality and life
through a drawing~

3. By the end of my presentation on How to draw
Anime Expressions, I want my audience to
understand the importance of different
characters with different expressions, how to
make a less bland character, and how to practice
making new expressions on a character.

5. Reference Sheets
Learning how to draw expressions is great for making reference sheets
for your characters. It’s also great for giving characters personality
differences in a manga/story, so you don’t have a bland character!!

6. Practice drawing profiles. It’s understandable
to just want to give up on drawing a face
from side view, but if you get it right, it can
look fantastic!! Plus, people will like a
drawing more if it has a great side view face
or a fun expression!!

7. LOOKING IN A MIRROR WILL HELP
Some people think looking in a mirror is cheating, but looking in
a mirror to see your expression and taking photos of different
expressions made by different faces is a BIG help.

8. If you’re STILL confused
Look up more expression tutorials, or look up “anime
expressions” or just “expressions” in general!! It’s never a bad
thing to look at a reference for inspiration!

9. Come up with some neat ideas!!
Grab a pencil, some paper, and start sketching some sweet ideas
down on the paper!!
Let your imagination throw up it’s creativity all over that paper!!
