How Is Harry Potter Selfish
Hogwarts is full of magic, but it always seems like there is something bad happening, even if they
can paralyze someone with a word. Harry Potter (the main character in J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter
and the Chamber of Secrets") and everyone at his school is being terrorized by a mythical creature.
In the story Harry does bold things and is very curious. Harry's first trait is that he is bold. One
example of that is when he broke out of his uncle's house. "Harry couldn't believe it – he was free.
He rolled down the window... looked back at the shrinking rooftops of Privet Drive. Uncle Vernon,
Aunt Petunia, and Dudley were all hanging, dumbstruck out of Harry's bedroom window. That is the
first clue to harry being bold. Breaking out of a house is one thing, but talking with giant spiders is
another feat entirely. Harry and Ron got taken away by giant spiders to the king of spiders, Aragog.
"...spiders. Not tiny spiders like those surging over the leaves below. Spiders the size of carthorses,
eight–eyed, black, hairy, gigantic... Harry fell to the ground on all fours as the spider released him.
Ron and Fang thudded down next to him. Fang wasn't howling anymore, but cowering silently on
the spot... Harry realized that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Harry Potter House Stereotypes
The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is an elite school of magic located in the vast hills
of Scotland. In the school, the students are divided into four hours, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff,
Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each of these houses have one redeeming quality that they are known for.
Gryffindor is known for their bravery, Hufflepuff is known for their loyalty, Ravenclaw for their
intelligence, and Slytherins for their ambition. With these eminent qualities each house has a
reputation they carry as well. Slytherin, one of the most bold and renowned house at the school.
Over the many years, the house's notoriety is evil, cruel, and untrustworthy. Slytherin is not a
malicious house because, they are playing the role of the perspective we see them through, their
stereotypes, and their defining qualities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Harry has only had little interaction with the magical world, so when he attends Hogwarts his first
year, he only knows the houses by what people have told him. His peers tell him that Slytherin is the
house to avoid and that everyone who belongs in Slytherin, is (or will become) villainous. Harry
also has only interacted with bad people from Slytherin. Formally known as Tom Riddle, but
mononymously known as Voldemort is the pure blood zealot who killed Harry's parents and
attempted to kill Harry. He was originally a Slytherin, which sensibly gave the house it's horrible
reputation. Other characters such as the Malfoy family, Bellatrix Lestrange, and Severus Snape are
also people who belonged to the house and helped give the immoral title. They gave this house
(among other characters) a horrible name to this strong house because of their loyal following to

Journey of the Hero in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer´s...
The American author, teacher, and mythologist, Joseph John Campbell, is universally known for his
work in comparative folklore and culture. His studies led him to discover the pattern, journey of the
hero. The sequence consists of three stages and exists in many dealings with Greek mythology as
well as current popular culture. A modern example of the occurring cycle is the 2001 production,
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. In the film, an orphaned young boy named Harry Potter is
invited to study at Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In time, he is involved in a
dangerous quest to save the wizarding community from the grasps of the Dark Lord. The film
demonstrates aspects of a traditional journey of the hero because Harry ... Show more content on

Harry's departure from his old life is evident once he steps on to Platform Nine and Three Quarters
to board the Hogwarts Express (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone). Leaving his previously
known home is not difficult because of the ten years of neglect that occurred in the Dursley
household. Harry has only been in two magical places and he already feels more comfortable than
ever. Now that he has crossed over to the hidden world of magic, he is ready to embark on his
adventure.
Soon after entering Hogwarts, Harry must face a road of trials which will eventually lead him to
achieve his unlikely treasure. While roaming the halls after curfew, Harry receives detention in the
forbidden forest, and comes face to face with the Dark Lord. Other obstacles come to place when
Harry travels down the trap door into the chambers; such as devil's snare, a human wizard's chess
game, and the room of keys (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone). The series of tests make Harry's
mission difficult; however, the knowledge he gains from the unsuccessful trials bring him closer to
his main goal. These minor bumps in Harry's journey strengthen him emotionally and physically,
readying him to defeat the traitor at the end of his succession of tests. Unexpectedly, the betrayal
comes from the quivering Professor Quirrell who voluntarily gives up his body to the Dark Lord.
Harry sees himself in the mirror and realizes he is magically in possession of the Sorcerer's Stone.

Harry Potter: Hagrid, The Keeper Of The Keys
My first claim, is that the most important event is when Harry was appointed as a wizard by a
member of staff from Hogwarts. This was the start of the entire Harry Potter novels, because he
would always return to his Witchcraft and Wizardry School every year. The texts states that Hagrid,
the Keeper of the Keys, says "Harry – yer a wizard". My reasoning for this piece of text is that, If
Harry never met Hagrid then he would have never known he was destined to be a great wizard in the
future.
My second claim is that if he never got any of the letters that Hagrid was messaging then Harry
would not have had a clue about Hogwarts or the wizarding world. In the book I found a piece of
text that I found usable. It reads, "Three things lay on the doormat: A postcard from Uncle Vernon's
sister Marge, who was vacationing in the Isle of Wright, a brown envelope that looked like a bill and
– a letter for Harry." Another piece of text read "It was addressed to you by mistake, said Uncle
Vernon shortly. I have burned it". I believe these pieces of text correspond because if he never had
any letters addressed to him, he would never have been curious to open those letters and he would
have never wondered why Uncle Vernon despised them so much.

Why Do We Really Read Harry Potter?
The Harry Potter series, by J.K Rowling, is about three wizard friends at Hogwarts School of
Witchcraft and Wizardry who save the wizarding world from destruction from an evil character.
Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley share numerous victories as well as obstacles
and struggles, which they must overcome making it is easy for fans to relate to the characters. There
were many conflicting opinions about Harry Potter. Some people did not watch or read the series
because they believed it contained occult themes, however even people who did not read or watch
the series could not escape seeing merchandise or advertisements in their everyday lives due to the
enormity of the franchise. Harry Potter was so tremendously successful and ... Show more content

Rowling created a world that people of all ages wanted to read about. She created a world so
inviting and so many people wanted it to be reality that in 2010 Universal Orlando built a park
called The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It features Harry Potter themed rides, foods,
memorabilia, games, and activities. It was built to look and feel as though one is actually in Harry
Potter's world. People went crazy over it and it was such a hit that there is another Wizarding World
of Harry Potter being built in California that will open in spring of 2016. People are obsessed with
Harry Potter. There were book release parties where fans, dressed in full wizard or witch costume,
would line up outside of bookstores and wait for the book to be on the shelves and available for
purchase. There were also movie release parties for the in–theater version and the version they could
buy in stores. Fans, dressed in full wizard or witch costume, would line up outside of theaters and
wait to buy tickets to see the movie. When the movie was available for purchase in stores, they
would buy it and have Harry Potter themed movie nights. People would pay to see the movie in
theater, possibly more than once, and then pay to own the movie. As a way to keep the Harry Potter
movie parties going, ABC Family hosts 'Harry Potter Weekend Event' where it shows seven of the
eight movies. ABC Family does not have the rights to show Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,

London, Diagon Alley, A Dark Artifacts Area
Various locations in the UK including London, Diagon Alley, number twelve Grimmauld Place,
outside all over london, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Diagon Alley is accessible from Muggle (people who doesn't have magic) London through the
Leaky Cauldron, which is on Charing Cross Road, set between a bookshop and a record shop. The
Muggles who pass by the inn seem to be "quite unconscious" of its existence. Knockturn Alley, a
dark artefacts area, is an offshoot of Diagon Alley, as are the areas of Horizont Alley and Carkitt
Market.
The entrance is behind the Leaky Cauldron in a small, walled courtyard with a dustbin. Diagon
Alley can be accessed by tapping the correct brick in the wall behind the Leaky Cauldron (from the
trash can, three up and two across). The wall goes in a small hole first but forms a large archway. It
can also be accessed by Floo powder and Apparition. There may be other entrances as well.
Inside the Alley is an assortment of restaurants, shops, and other sites; some even have tables out
front with coloured umbrellas. Particularly during the days or weeks before school starts at
Hogwarts, the location is packed with witches and wizards, though shops are open year–round as
witches and wizards travel to the location for various goods. While the shops include many school–
supply locations, there are also many locations important to the wizarding world, such as Gringotts
Wizarding Bank and Ollivanders. Diagon Alley is also the location of

Harry Potter And The Sorcerer 's Stone
1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone By: J.K. Rowling
2. 309 pages
The genre of this novel is a mix between fantasy and mystery. It takes place in an alternate universe
at a school of witchcraft and wizardry. It also has an element of mystery, you are constantly trying to
find out what has happened to Harry in his past. It also includes fictional creatures like fluffy the 3
headed dog and games like quidditch that resemble modern games like football and soccer.
One theme from this book is friendship. Making friends is arguably one of the best things about
going to Hogwarts. Without friends, life can be pretty sad for Harry. Yet for Harry Potter and some
of the other characters who 've been set apart by their magical abilities, making real friends is only
possible at wizarding school. Wizard friends are lifesavers, literally: who else can you collaborate
with to defeat three–headed dogs or evil overlords? By making friends, the characters get to work
together, learn from each other, and accomplish more than they ever would have on their own. One
example from the book is hen Ron Weasley walks into Harry 's room on the train, the two boys
begin a friendship that will last throughout their time at Hogwarts. They share their stories, their
family problems, and eventually candy. Another scenario in this book is when Draco Malfoy offers
his evil hand of friendship to Harry in the same sentence as he badmouths Ron, Harry refuses. He
informs Draco that Harry needs no help

him. Also,Harry suspected Snape to be the one who tried to jinx him during his first ever Quidditch

What Is My Adventure Essay
The summer of 2015 was filled with adventures, at least for me. Sitting on my yellow puff, I
travelled to many places and with many different people, I got to know them better and the places
where they're from; they taught me some lessons that I'll carry with me for the rest of my life and,
most of all, we had lots of fun. The first adventure I had this summer was an unfinished one, I mean,
I had already started it but my life and school kept getting on the way and, eventually, I had to come
home and take a break from adventures. However, I was very glad to restart this one, where I took
the Hogwarts Express and arrived at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It's a British

Childhood Is A Complex Concept Of Childhood
Childhood is a complex concept that has never been clearly defined, nor has it stayed a stagnant
concept across all times and cultures. The time period in which a child exists is different depending
on the time you are looking at, as are the characteristics which are attributed to children. In the time
periods that were studied in this class, which spanned from the early modern period of literature up
until the late twentieth century, the idea of childhood and what represented it changed vastly. In
some of our early readings, children were defined as helpless and ignorant, with very little logic or
ability to rationalize or reason. Towards the ends of our readings, when we were getting into the
books that were produced in the twentieth century, childhood is still portrayed as innocent, but also
as playful and creative, and full of life, laughter and friendship.
In the 1700s, children were seen as naïve, powerless, needing protection, and very impressionable.
In Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll attempts to create a child which is idealistically
innocent and capable of reason. In his fantasy world of Wonderland, Carroll shows an imaginative
and creative child who isn't afraid of the unusual things she is presented with, but instead embraces
them and the differences that they portray as she is different herself. He takes an interesting stance
for the time period on portraying mental health problems as something that is able to be coped with
and that should be

Gryffindor House Subculture Analysis
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is comprised of a vast number of cultures that contain even
more subcultures. At Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the Gryffindor House, one of the
four subculture houses, is made up of a diverse group of wizards who still seem to share the same
values and beliefs. The analysis of the Gryffindor House through the Anthropological Pentad allows
for one to completely understand the depth of the subculture. The wizards and witches of the
Gryffindor House all have a similar sense of morality, bravery, courage, and determination, in which
they pride themselves on, and is a deciding factor in their appointment into this house. The students
that represent Gryffindor have high moral standards and a natural instinct to always do the right
thing and fight for their beliefs no matter the consequences. These ideologies have been exemplified
by the founder of the Gryffindor House, Godric Gryffindor, in an attempt to encourage students who
have the same traits. However, these students can often be seen as reckless, due to their ... Show

Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone Movie Vs Book
There are many similarities and differences between the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
by J.K. Rowling and the movie Matilda directed by Danny Devito. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's
Stone is about how Harry goes to his nasty aunt and uncle's house because his parents died from
Lord Voldemort, and then he gets a invitation to go to Hogwarts, when he goes he has to face many
adventures with his new friends. In Matilda she gets adopted by a family that don't even love her
like they should, and she goes to school and she meets some new friends and she has many
adventures there.
One difference that Harry Potter has that Matilda doesn't is the theme of the book, the theme of the
book is friends always come back. I think this because whenever Harry is in a situation one of his
friends come to help him out of the situation. Another difference is that Harry lives in a wizard
world. I think the author did this because she wanted to help engage the reader and make the reader
want to read more. Another difference that Harry Potter has that Matilda doesn't is that Harry lives
in London at Hogwarts. I think the author did this because she wanted to keep it in London but she
wanted to put a twist on it that they live in a world full ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

book Matilda is adopted by Miss. Honey who she loves. I think the director made Matilda live in a
bad family because he wanted to show that Matilda is struggling in her life and he wanted to make
the reader feel bad for Matilda. Another difference is that Matilda lives in the regular world, but she

Afterwards, I limped my way to the staff room. There I met Filch who was helping me heal this
bloody bite. Filch passed me the extensive bandages . Soon after I mentioned the dogs, I heard the
door whisper as Harry Potter fixed himself to stand by the door. "POTTER!" I yelled from the
bottom of my lungs. My face filled with fury as I dropped my robe quickly to hide my scarred leg
from him. I thought Harry Potter was going to end up finding information he shouldn't if he keeps
being the noisy kid he is.
"I was wondering if I can get my book back," He said stuttering.

The little boats lurched forward, gliding smoothly on the water. Albus looked over the edge of the
boat and swore he saw a greenish face staring back at him. The night was unusually warm for
September, not rainy or windy. A crescent moon was reflected on the still surface of the lake.
"Alrigh', duck yer heads now, we're passin' through a short tunnel," shouted Hagrid, "then you'll get
yer firs' look at Hogwarts." Albus lowered his head as the small group of boats floated into the small
opening. The slimy walls of the tunnel reminded Albus of the stories his dad had told him about the
cave with the horcrux. The boats emerged and the young students gasped, Hogwarts was beautiful.
A large castle, glowing with friendly light pouring from the windows, greeted their eyes. Albus now
realized why the first years came by the lake, this angle did make a great first impression. They
reached the shore and followed Hagrid up to the castle. Hardly anyone was talking, only Rose and
Maye. His cousin was probably telling her about all the things she'd read in 'Hogwarts: A History'.
Hagrid ushered the group through the giant oak front doors and into an enormous hall. Neville– no,
he was Professor Longbottom now– was waiting for them. Hagrid sidled off, into another room,
where Albus assumed the rest of the school was. Professor Longbottom cleared his throat.

Slytherin House Characteristics
I have been put into Slytherin as my Harry Potter house. This house suits me because it has some
characteristics that I do as a person. However, I do not think that it is the best house for me. They are
viewed as clever and skilled at their craft. The mascot for Slytherin is the Serpent because of the
snake's power. The element of Slytherin is water. Overall, I am very excited to be in the Slytherin
house. Some of the characteristics I have with my house are resourcefulness and ambition. I show
how I am resourceful by using old junk to make new things that are useful. For example, once I used
an old wind shield wiper to make a model zip line. Another example would be when I took an old

Home is where Hogwarts is. One of the main themes of Harry Potter is Home and we all know the
saying that home is where the heart is, and Harry's and everyone who read the book or saw the
movie, their heart is at Hogwarts. Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry, is a school located
in highlands of Scotland. Nobody knows the precise location of the school because long time ago it
was rendered unplottable. The humans see the school as a castle which was abandoned. Other
schools like Beauxbatons Academy of Magic and the Durmstrang are also rendered unplottable.
Children with magic abilities will get a letter by the School via an owl post when they're eleven
years old. And if a child is human, a professor of Hogwarts will come to inform the child's parents.

Harry Potter Sorcerer's Stone Morals
JK Rowling, one of the most well–known authors, has an incredible $848 million net worth from the
Harry Potter franchise according to MoneyNation, Rowling has made a fortune all thanks to her
Harry Potter novels. In her first novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Rowling answers many
people's very tough question: What happens when they are forced to choose between what they
think is right and risking getting hurt or in trouble, or not standing up for what they believe in but
staying safe and out of trouble. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone would suggest that standing up
for what they think is the most important thing even if it can get them in trouble or hurt. Rowling
reveals this through the character of Harry Potter, a young boy that finds out that he is a wizard.
In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Rowling tells the story of Harry Potter. Harry is a boy
living with his very cruel Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon, and cousin, Dudley in England. A letter was
addressed and sent to Harry, but Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia won't allow Harry to open it, but
many more letters are sent to Harry as well. A big man named Hagrid then comes and tells Harry
that he is a wizard and has been accepted to one of the finest Wizarding schools, Hogwarts. Harry
ends up meeting Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, two kids that are also going to Hogwarts that
eventually turn out to be Harry's best friends. When Harry gets to Hogwarts, he is picked to
Gryffindor, probably the best school house. Harry then meets Professor Snape, the potions teacher,
who seems to hate Harry very much. Snape gives Harry cold stares and picks on him ... Show more

In the bible it says that wizards, devils and demons exist and are powerful and dangerous. People
have a fear that any books with good witches, wizards and good magic will lead people to take the
bible's teachings lightly and may convince them to become witches. Another reason that Harry

Hero Cycle Harry Potter
From living with his aunt and uncle and sleeping under the stairs to his life being completely
changed around to practicing magic and becoming one of the most well–known wizards in history.
The character Harry Potter in the well–known book "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone" is an
astonishing example of how the hero cycle is applied to the protagonist. Harry is living his most
ordinary life in the regular world and suddenly the call to adventure approached him when Harry
begins to receive mysterious letters. Refusal of the call comes next and after that the meeting of the
mentor. Secondly, the crossing of the threshold is used when Harry joins the wizarding world. Tests,
Allies and enemies when he arrives at Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry. Approach when
the trio prepare themselves to face Voldemort. Ordeal death and rebirth, reward and seizing the
sword. Lastly. The road back when Harry, Ron and Hermione try and face Voldemort. Resurrection
and the return of the elixir. Is Harry Potter is an amazing example of the hero cycle? The hero cycle
is a pattern of narrative that appears in drama, storytelling, myth, religious ritual, and psychological
development. It describes the typical adventure of the archetype known as The Hero in twelve
stages.

Hogwarts The most distinct setting of Harry Potter is Hogwarts. Hogwarts is a wondrous, magical
building with many towers and turrets. It is home to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I
find Hogwarts location, its castle, the grounds, and Quiddich fascinating. Hogwarts is built in a

south of the castle and the front entrance of the castle faces toward the west. There is a small

Hagrid's cabin is located on the edge of the Forbidden Forrest. Quidditch Field is on the opposite
side of Hogwarts from the Forbidden Forrest. There is a lake located south of the castle and is
approximately a half mile in diameter. Giant Squids, Merfolk, and Grindylows live in this lake.
Quidditch is big at Hogwarts. Each House fields a team, which includes the seven players and often
one or two reserve players as well. The teams have a team captain who not only plays but also acts
as coach. The captain leads practices, devises strategies, and sees to the induction of new players
into the team. Quidditch tryouts are typically during the second week of the school year, although
the exact day and time are up to the captain to determine; students who wish to play for their Houses
are asked to talk to Madam Hooch. The Quidditch season at Hogwarts starts in October, with the
first games early in November. Madam Hooch is the resident Quidditch expert. The Bludgers,
Quaffles, and Snitch are stored securely in her office between games and she acts as referee for the
matches. Team practices are scheduled by individual captains. Most teams practice almost every
day, after school or in the evenings.

Granger Vs Weasley
The Harry Potter books are acclaimed for a long list of attributes that make them such impeccable
literature, among these includes a collection of strong female characters. Two such characters are
Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley, both of whom have had an important impact on the series's
hero, Harry Potter. While they both play a prominent role, they are extremely different. One is a
pureblood, the other a muggleborn. One is part of a large family, one is an only child. One is
bookish, while the other is more athletically inclined. While Rowling's female characters are each a
sum of their different backgrounds, relationships, and abilities, they can still stand side–by–side in
battle, demonstrating their diverse, yet equally strong characters.

Aside from being shy around Harry for a couple years, Ginny found it easy to talk to and hang

to make someone an outgoing person, but having brothers so close in age opens up possibilities for
friendships outside their grade or age. In the case of Ginny, this is especially true. While she
maintained many relationships within her year at Hogwarts, having Ron, a brother only a year older,
made it easy to interact and get along with his friends, opening up a larger social circle than
Hermione ever had. Ginny also engages in more romantic relationships than Hermione. Within the

The Harry Potter franchise, books or movies, are classic in a variety of aspects. Whether it be from
Harry first learning about Hogwarts and his connection with Tom Riddle or actually killing Riddle

of Wizards, a protege to say the least. His parents were killed at a young age by Voldemort and he
was adopted in by Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia. They are very abusive and favorable towards
their biological son in favor of Harry by an abusive margin. Harry's room was the size of a closet
and he wasn't allowed anywhere to go, receive mail and was very lonely. In short terms, Harry

Unit 1: Families – Essay Assignment Family can have numerous meanings depending on the
individual defining the term. The term can exclusively mean blood relatives, or it can branch out to
close friends. It just so happens that one of the more important themes in Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer 's Stone is family. However, the defining factor of family for Harry, the protagonist of the
novel, are not his blood relatives. For Harry, his family shares no aspect of a family tree, his family
are his exceptionally bosom friends. Deplorably, unfortunate events plagued Harry from
experiencing a mother 's love, or a father 's guidance. Harry 's parents were murdered by the
antagonist of the novel, Voldemort, leaving Harry without suitable blood relatives. His only living
relatives are his Aunt, Uncle, and cousin; and they are less than welcoming to Harry. His Uncle,
Aunt, and cousin often "spoke about Harry ... as though he wasn 't there – or rather, as though he
was something very nasty that couldn 't understand them, like a slug" (Rowling 27–28). Although
this assemblage of people are related to Harry, they can scarcely be characterized as Harry 's family.
Families are meant to fulfill and support emotional and social needs, as well as protect and care for
each other. So who is Harry 's family? If narrowed down his family can be defined as Hermonie
Granger and Ronald Weasley. However, his family members can be extended further to Ronald 's
mother, too. These individuals all support

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone The movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is the very
first of seven movies. The movie emphasizes the value of humility with the role of Harry Potter. The
movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone has many great themes, which included heroism and is
a great reason to watch it. To continue, the role of Harry Potter shows humility in just a few brilliant
ways. Growing up, Harry had no idea who he really was, or who his parents were. He was sent to
live with his aunt and uncle after his parents were killed by a wizard named Voldemort. On Harry's
eleventh birthday, he is invited to go to Hogwarts School of magic. He is known as one of the most
famous wizards for surviving the attack of Voldemort. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dudley torments and bullies Harry because Dudley is so spoiled. Harry is forced to sleep in a
cupboard under the stairs, while Dudley not only has a bedroom but a second bedroom for just his

starts talking to the snake and it talks back to him. Astounded that it is moving Dudley ran over and
started beating on the glass. While Dudley was beating on the glass, it disappears. Mr. Dursley
blamed Harry for the incident because he said it was like magic. That it just disappeared and since
Mr. Dursley despises magic so much that was enough to lock Harry in his cupboard without

How Is Harry Potter Selfish

  • 1. How Is Harry Potter Selfish Hogwarts is full of magic, but it always seems like there is something bad happening, even if they can paralyze someone with a word. Harry Potter (the main character in J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets") and everyone at his school is being terrorized by a mythical creature. In the story Harry does bold things and is very curious. Harry's first trait is that he is bold. One example of that is when he broke out of his uncle's house. "Harry couldn't believe it – he was free. He rolled down the window... looked back at the shrinking rooftops of Privet Drive. Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and Dudley were all hanging, dumbstruck out of Harry's bedroom window. That is the first clue to harry being bold. Breaking out of a house is one thing, but talking with giant spiders is another feat entirely. Harry and Ron got taken away by giant spiders to the king of spiders, Aragog. "...spiders. Not tiny spiders like those surging over the leaves below. Spiders the size of carthorses, eight–eyed, black, hairy, gigantic... Harry fell to the ground on all fours as the spider released him. Ron and Fang thudded down next to him. Fang wasn't howling anymore, but cowering silently on the spot... Harry realized that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "Aragog!" it called. In the school, the students are divided into four hours, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each of these houses have one redeeming quality that they are known for. Gryffindor is known for their bravery, Hufflepuff is known for their loyalty, Ravenclaw for their intelligence, and Slytherins for their ambition. With these eminent qualities each house has a reputation they carry as well. Slytherin, one of the most bold and renowned house at the school. Over the many years, the house's notoriety is evil, cruel, and untrustworthy. Slytherin is not a malicious house because, they are playing the role of the perspective we see them through, their stereotypes, and their defining qualities. ... Harry has only had little interaction with the magical world, so when he attends Hogwarts his first year, he only knows the houses by what people have told him. Formally known as Tom Riddle, but mononymously known as Voldemort is the pure blood zealot who killed Harry's parents and attempted to kill Harry. He was originally a Slytherin, which sensibly gave the house it's horrible reputation. The American author, teacher, and mythologist, Joseph John Campbell, is universally known for his work in comparative folklore and culture. His studies led him to discover the pattern, journey of the hero. The sequence consists of three stages and exists in many dealings with Greek mythology as well as current popular culture. A modern example of the occurring cycle is the 2001 production, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. In the film, an orphaned young boy named Harry Potter is invited to study at Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In time, he is involved in a dangerous quest to save the wizarding community from the grasps of the Dark Lord. The film demonstrates aspects of a traditional journey of the hero because Harry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Harry's departure from his old life is evident once he steps on to Platform Nine and Three Quarters to board the Hogwarts Express (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone). Leaving his previously known home is not difficult because of the ten years of neglect that occurred in the Dursley household. Harry has only been in two magical places and he already feels more comfortable than ever. Now that he has crossed over to the hidden world of magic, he is ready to embark on his adventure. Soon after entering Hogwarts, Harry must face a road of trials which will eventually lead him to achieve his unlikely treasure. While roaming the halls after curfew, Harry receives detention in the forbidden forest, and comes face to face with the Dark Lord. Other obstacles come to place when Harry travels down the trap door into the chambers; such as devil's snare, a human wizard's chess game, and the room of keys (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone). The series of tests make Harry's mission difficult; however, the knowledge he gains from the unsuccessful trials bring him closer to his main goal. These minor bumps in Harry's journey strengthen him emotionally and physically, readying him to defeat the traitor at the end of his succession of tests. Unexpectedly, the betrayal comes from the quivering Professor Quirrell who voluntarily gives up his body to the Dark Lord. • 17. Harry Potter: Hagrid, The Keeper Of The Keys My first claim, is that the most important event is when Harry was appointed as a wizard by a member of staff from Hogwarts. This was the start of the entire Harry Potter novels, because he would always return to his Witchcraft and Wizardry School every year. The texts states that Hagrid, the Keeper of the Keys, says "Harry – yer a wizard". My reasoning for this piece of text is that, If Harry never met Hagrid then he would have never known he was destined to be a great wizard in the future. My second claim is that if he never got any of the letters that Hagrid was messaging then Harry would not have had a clue about Hogwarts or the wizarding world. In the book I found a piece of text that I found usable. It reads, "Three things lay on the doormat: A postcard from Uncle Vernon's sister Marge, who was vacationing in the Isle of Wright, a brown envelope that looked like a bill and – a letter for Harry." Another piece of text read "It was addressed to you by mistake, said Uncle Vernon shortly. I have burned it". I believe these pieces of text correspond because if he never had any letters addressed to him, he would never have been curious to open those letters and he would have never wondered why Uncle Vernon despised them so much. ... London, Diagon Alley, A Dark Artifacts Area Various locations in the UK including London, Diagon Alley, number twelve Grimmauld Place, outside all over london, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Diagon Alley is accessible from Muggle (people who doesn't have magic) London through the Leaky Cauldron, which is on Charing Cross Road, set between a bookshop and a record shop. The Muggles who pass by the inn seem to be "quite unconscious" of its existence. Knockturn Alley, a dark artefacts area, is an offshoot of Diagon Alley, as are the areas of Horizont Alley and Carkitt Market. The entrance is behind the Leaky Cauldron in a small, walled courtyard with a dustbin. Diagon Alley can be accessed by tapping the correct brick in the wall behind the Leaky Cauldron (from the trash can, three up and two across). The wall goes in a small hole first but forms a large archway. It can also be accessed by Floo powder and Apparition. There may be other entrances as well. Inside the Alley is an assortment of restaurants, shops, and other sites; some even have tables out front with coloured umbrellas. Particularly during the days or weeks before school starts at Hogwarts, the location is packed with witches and wizards, though shops are open year–round as witches and wizards travel to the location for various goods. While the shops include many school– supply locations, there are also many locations important to the wizarding world, such as Gringotts Wizarding Bank and Ollivanders. • 37. Harry Potter And The Sorcerer 's Stone 1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone By: J.K. Rowling 2. 309 pages The genre of this novel is a mix between fantasy and mystery. It takes place in an alternate universe at a school of witchcraft and wizardry. It also has an element of mystery, you are constantly trying to find out what has happened to Harry in his past. It also includes fictional creatures like fluffy the 3 headed dog and games like quidditch that resemble modern games like football and soccer. One theme from this book is friendship. Making friends is arguably one of the best things about going to Hogwarts. Without friends, life can be pretty sad for Harry. Yet for Harry Potter and some of the other characters who 've been set apart by their magical abilities, making real friends is only possible at wizarding school. Wizard friends are lifesavers, literally: who else can you collaborate with to defeat three–headed dogs or evil overlords? By making friends, the characters get to work together, learn from each other, and accomplish more than they ever would have on their own. One example from the book is hen Ron Weasley walks into Harry 's room on the train, the two boys begin a friendship that will last throughout their time at Hogwarts. They share their stories, their family problems, and eventually candy. Another scenario in this book is when Draco Malfoy offers his evil hand of friendship to Harry in the same sentence as he badmouths Ron, Harry refuses. He informs Draco that Harry needs no help ... Sitting on my yellow puff, I travelled to many places and with many different people, I got to know them better and the places where they're from; they taught me some lessons that I'll carry with me for the rest of my life and, most of all, we had lots of fun. The first adventure I had this summer was an unfinished one, I mean, I had already started it but my life and school kept getting on the way and, eventually, I had to come home and take a break from adventures. • 58. Childhood Is A Complex Concept Of Childhood Childhood is a complex concept that has never been clearly defined, nor has it stayed a stagnant concept across all times and cultures. The time period in which a child exists is different depending on the time you are looking at, as are the characteristics which are attributed to children. In the time periods that were studied in this class, which spanned from the early modern period of literature up until the late twentieth century, the idea of childhood and what represented it changed vastly. In some of our early readings, children were defined as helpless and ignorant, with very little logic or ability to rationalize or reason. Towards the ends of our readings, when we were getting into the books that were produced in the twentieth century, childhood is still portrayed as innocent, but also as playful and creative, and full of life, laughter and friendship. In the 1700s, children were seen as naïve, powerless, needing protection, and very impressionable. In Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll attempts to create a child which is idealistically innocent and capable of reason. In his fantasy world of Wonderland, Carroll shows an imaginative and creative child who isn't afraid of the unusual things she is presented with, but instead embraces them and the differences that they portray as she is different herself. He takes an interesting stance for the time period on portraying mental health problems as something that is able to be coped with and that should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The wizards and witches of the Gryffindor House all have a similar sense of morality, bravery, courage, and determination, in which they pride themselves on, and is a deciding factor in their appointment into this house. The students that represent Gryffindor have high moral standards and a natural instinct to always do the right thing and fight for their beliefs no matter the consequences. • 70. Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone Movie Vs Book There are many similarities and differences between the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling and the movie Matilda directed by Danny Devito. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is about how Harry goes to his nasty aunt and uncle's house because his parents died from Lord Voldemort, and then he gets a invitation to go to Hogwarts, when he goes he has to face many adventures with his new friends. In Matilda she gets adopted by a family that don't even love her like they should, and she goes to school and she meets some new friends and she has many adventures there. One difference that Harry Potter has that Matilda doesn't is the theme of the book, the theme of the book is friends always come back. I think this because whenever Harry is in a situation one of his friends come to help him out of the situation. Another difference is that Harry lives in a wizard world. I think the author did this because she wanted to help engage the reader and make the reader want to read more. "Alrigh', duck yer heads now, we're passin' through a short tunnel," shouted Hagrid, "then you'll get yer firs' look at Hogwarts." Albus lowered his head as the small group of boats floated into the small opening. The slimy walls of the tunnel reminded Albus of the stories his dad had told him about the cave with the horcrux. Harry Potter Sorcerer's Stone Morals JK Rowling, one of the most well–known authors, has an incredible $848 million net worth from the Harry Potter franchise according to MoneyNation, Rowling has made a fortune all thanks to her Harry Potter novels. In her first novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Rowling answers many people's very tough question: What happens when they are forced to choose between what they think is right and risking getting hurt or in trouble, or not standing up for what they believe in but staying safe and out of trouble. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone would suggest that standing up for what they think is the most important thing even if it can get them in trouble or hurt. Rowling reveals this through the character of Harry Potter, a young boy that finds out that he is a wizard. In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Rowling tells the story of Harry Potter. Harry is a boy living with his very cruel Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon, and cousin, Dudley in England. A letter was addressed and sent to Harry, but Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia won't allow Harry to open it, but many more letters are sent to Harry as well. A big man named Hagrid then comes and tells Harry that he is a wizard and has been accepted to one of the finest Wizarding schools, Hogwarts. Harry ends up meeting Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, two kids that are also going to Hogwarts that eventually turn out to be Harry's best friends. When Harry gets to Hogwarts, he is picked to Gryffindor, probably the best school house. Harry then meets Professor Snape, the potions teacher, who seems to hate Harry very much. Snape gives Harry cold stares and picks on him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The character Harry Potter in the well–known book "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone" is an astonishing example of how the hero cycle is applied to the protagonist. Granger Vs Weasley The Harry Potter books are acclaimed for a long list of attributes that make them such impeccable literature, among these includes a collection of strong female characters. Two such characters are Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley, both of whom have had an important impact on the series's hero, Harry Potter. While they both play a prominent role, they are extremely different. One is a pureblood, the other a muggleborn. One is part of a large family, one is an only child. One is bookish, while the other is more athletically inclined. While Rowling's female characters are each a sum of their different backgrounds, relationships, and abilities, they can still stand side–by–side in battle, demonstrating their diverse, yet equally strong characters. • 152. The Significance Of Family In Harry Potter And The... Unit 1: Families – Essay Assignment Family can have numerous meanings depending on the individual defining the term. The term can exclusively mean blood relatives, or it can branch out to close friends. It just so happens that one of the more important themes in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer 's Stone is family. However, the defining factor of family for Harry, the protagonist of the novel, are not his blood relatives. For Harry, his family shares no aspect of a family tree, his family are his exceptionally bosom friends. Deplorably, unfortunate events plagued Harry from experiencing a mother 's love, or a father 's guidance. Harry 's parents were murdered by the antagonist of the novel, Voldemort, leaving Harry without suitable blood relatives. His only living relatives are his Aunt, Uncle, and cousin; and they are less than welcoming to Harry. His Uncle, Aunt, and cousin often "spoke about Harry ... as though he wasn 't there – or rather, as though he was something very nasty that couldn 't understand them, like a slug" (Rowling 27–28). Although this assemblage of people are related to Harry, they can scarcely be characterized as Harry 's family. Families are meant to fulfill and support emotional and social needs, as well as protect and care for each other. So who is Harry 's family? If narrowed down his family can be defined as Hermonie Granger and Ronald Weasley. However, his family members can be extended further to Ronald 's mother, too. These individuals all support ...
