An Analysis of Suicide Attempts in Jaén Province (Andalusia-Spain)
Aim: Suicide is the leading cause of non-accidental death in Spain across both sexes and all age groups; however, data on suicide attempts by region are heterogeneous and little reported. This study aimed to examine the socio-demographic and epidemiological variables most
strongly related to suicide attempts in Jaén province.
Method: Data on people who had attempted suicide over a 26-month period (2009–2011) were collected from the emergency departments of two hospitals via their electronic medical record systems specific to the Autonomous Community of Andalusia (Spain). Descriptive and frequency statistics were obtained and the relationship among variables was examined.
Results: Suicide attempters were aged 24 to 53 years, being primarily women (65.25%). The most frequent suicide method was medication ingestion (85.55%); thus, ingestion of toxic substances has become the preferred method among women (LR(3) = 14.731; p = .02). The
hospitals discharged the patients (46.44%) or referred them to mental health services in the area (20.08%) following a suicide attempt. There were more hospital discharges when the attempt involved ingestion of toxic substances or self-harm (LR(12) = 20.603; p = .05), and in winter
and spring (LR(12) = 69.772; p < .001).
Conclusion: The need for emergency departments to have prevention and intervention procedures in place, specifically designed for suicide attempts and at-risk individuals, is discussed
My work experience in Malta by Michele
The student went on a month-long work experience trip to Malta in January 2015 through the Erasmus Plus program. They stayed with a host family near the airport and worked as a waiter, receptionist, and booking manager at a hotel in St. Julian's. In their free time, they visited many of Malta's towns and cities, including the capital Valletta, and learned about local transportation and culture. The student concludes that the trip helped improve their English skills and taught them new skills for their career.

This crossover of genres is unusual for most films outside of romantic comedies. The film aims to leave viewers feeling scared and uncomfortable at the conclusion, similar to inspiration film "Mud Boy".

- 1. How does your media product represent particular social groups? I am going to focus on one of the main characters from the Craig McDermott is a psychopath and this is because of the trauma he has been through in his life which has had a big effect on him. Looking at the costumes, they are very similar in terms of what they are wearing. Both characters are wearing a jacket, shirt and trousers with practical shoes on. However, there are time differences whilst comparing the two characters as The Lovely Bones is set in the 1970’s and our film opening is set in 2013. However I think that the costumes are very significant as they appear normal and would not trigger any alarms in other characters head and therefore the characters appear normal, even though they have psychological issues. film opening and compare with other film characters which represent a social group. There is a huge difference between these two characters however, although both characters are psychopaths, one character (Craig) has been a victim of death whereas Mr. Harvey has killed and sexually assaulted others. Craig is similar to Mr. Harvey who stars in The Lovely Bones who is also a psychopath, he ends up killing young girls. In some of our shots, we have made Craig appear powerless and vulnerable as he has been a victim and we wanted the audience to empathise with the character in some way. We have used some over head shots and angles to achieve this. We wanted the shot to seem mysterious and un-easy as we feel that this is the kind of feeling that most people experience whilst watching a psycho thriller and it’s what an audience want to experience whilst watching a psycho thriller, so we used the mis-en-scene to do this. We used the music in our opening sequence to set the mood of our psychological thriller, we have looked at other thrillers and have found that this is important to get right. We have used a piano to create a mood for the audience and really emphasise on the social group I have explained. I feel that the music does not give too much away
