3 Methodology
The developed optimisation routine makes use of adaptive response surface regression to use a
limited initial amount of FE models to feed an optimisation routine which is specifically designed
for general thermal problems where parameters linked to the general heat equation can be optimised
or estimated using experimental input data. The algorithm uses a pan and zoom function to move
through the design space and delivers faster predictions with fewer iterations than standard updating
routines [35, 41].
3.1 Adaptive response surface method
The adaptive response surface optimisation routine is used to optimise numerical models with lots of

prominent theories of working memory, Honig theory and Braddely and Hitch Theory, Becker and

functions for each character, most which fall below the superficial role of the character. In Romeo
and Juliet, Shakespeare uses the character Benvolio not only as a confidant to Romeo, but also as a

differential equations (EPDE). The EPDE does not involve a time variable, and so describes the
steady state of problems. A linear EPDE has the general form as presented in Eq. (1), where a,b,c are
coefficient functions, the term f is a source (excitation) function and u is the unknown variable. All
of this function can vary spatially (x,y,z).

EPDE can be solved exactly by mathematical procedures like Fourier series [1]. However, the
classical solution frequently no exists and for those problems where is possible the use of these
analytical methods, many simplifications are done [2]. Consequently, several numerical methods
have been developed to efficiently solve EPDE such as the finite element method (FEM), finite
difference and others.
The FEM have several advantages over other methods. The main advantage is that it is particularly
effective for problems with complicated geometry using unstructured meshes [2]. One way to get a
suitable framework for solving EPDEs by using FEM is formulate them as variational problems also
called weak solution.

formulation to a weak formulation, which permits the approximation in elements or subdomains,

Vertical thinking is thinking with mental operations that move in a straight line up and down
between higher and lower level concepts. Where lateral thinking is looking in alternate directions to
define and interpret a problem and thus a solution. Vertical thinking is like convergent thinking in
that it seeks a single correct solution. Lateral thinking is similar to divergent thinking in that it seeks
alternate solutions by going around the obvious and taking a different path. Component Approach
