In the short story Recitatif by Toni Morrison, the author, admits to coding both characters Twyla and Roberta. In the context of the story and
reading between the lines, we eventually figure out that there's two girls, one's black and the other one is white. When I began to read the story, I
had to go back multiple times to figure out which one was black and which one was white. Toni Morrison admits to actually doing this on purpose.
"But the reader doesn't know this which is white and which is black. I used class codes, but no racial codes" (Mays & Morrison 253). This is

Half a million people stood under the sun, beneath the stars, and in the rain to peacefully protest, listen to music, and express their personal and artistic
freedom at a place called Woodstock. During a time when Americans were pitted against each other because of war and turbulence, the three dayfestival
, Woodstock, would influence a cultural change with its peace, love, and ambience.
In the late sixties during the Vietnam War, the country turned against itself. Many people were against the war because they thought it was
unnecessary, they felt it was unjust and wanted the bloodshed to end. Opposition became especially strong in American colleges, they organized
marches, sit–ins, burning of draft cards, and even professors supported the resistance. Professors would teach about this counteraction and they would
often attend the protesting. The world had split itself into two groups, the doves and the hawks. As Hillstrom wrote, "The protesters became known to
the world as Doves." (13). These "Doves" were the people who wanted to end the war, they were mostly young college students. Hawks, were all of
the people in support of the Vietnam war. Another form of protesting was protest music, better known as acoustic folk music. It was becoming more
common during the late sixties. The songs praised labor unions, promoted civil rights and condemned class inequality. Some of the most famous
musicians that were known for protest music included: Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, and Phil Ochs. This form of protesting led to the idea
of a two day music festival that would change the way people looked at the war.
The festival included three days of drugs, music and nonviolence. Woodstock was originally going to be located in the town of Woodstock, but was
banned one month before it was supposed to happen. It took place seventy miles from its original destination in Bethel , New York on Max Yasgurs'

When I heard about the band, "Artic Rush," on their tour called, "Freeze the World," I was immediately intrigued. I then made my way to Seattle,
WA on June 20, 2016, to see if band was all it's cracked up to be. The first thing I noticed multiple different was the tickets were an extraordinary price
of only $75! That is outrageously cheap for the quality of the show. The lead singer, Jimmy Buffet has an amazing voice with multiple personalities

The great thing was there was snow in June! That created an amazing experience that will certainly not be forgotten. The band then performed
their big hit known across the nation called, "A Touch of Ice." The atmosphere during the show had me electrified and made me get on my feet.

The use of drugs in the music scene was at its most extreme during the Hardcore Punk movement of the 1980's. This scene was entirely different from

In this "blink–then–you–miss" town, I find family. My uncle lives in this town with its 300 year round population. Year round because the town

The Young–Wise Memorial Plaza creates a closely–knit community of the students, faculty, and alumni of Hendrix College who either support the
