6 Ways to Improve Employee Engagement and Create a Culture of LearningBizLibrary
Relationships at work aren’t always easy. And no, we don’t mean office romance. When you hire a new employee – it’s a commitment and relationship. Both the organization and the employee saw something in each other that they loved. Recent research shows many of us are on the road to break-up.
So, how can we nurture our relationships and create a learning culture that is engaged and committed to learning?
Key Learning Objectives:
What is employee engagement and why it’s important
Key characteristics of an engaged learning culture
What can we do to improve employee engagement?
Key managerial competencies and challenges
Grabbing the attention of time starved LearnersLaura Overton
44% of L&D professionals say their staff are reluctant to engage with online learning but Towards Maturity’s direct research with learners shows that perhaps they are not as reluctant as we think! This interactive session, first presented at the Learning Technology Summer Forum 17th June 2014, takes a fresh look at how L&D professionals can think about not only grabbing learner’s attention but turn that attention into action. Here we show how to apply killer tips from the world of marketing to today’s L&D challenges.
The presentation also introduces the Towards Maturity Engagement Index to help L&D organisations identify how their engagement strategies compare with others. Readers can identify their Engagement Index, and 21 other effective practice indices by participating in the Towards Maturity Benchmark Study at www.towardsmaturity.org/benchmarktoday.
Congratulations! You’ve developed the greatest training program ever. The content is ideally suited to your business problems, the technology works, and the employees seem to like it. There’s only one problem… nobody knows what to do with it when they return to their jobs.
If that’s not a nightmare scenario for a training professional, we don’t know what is!
Ultimately, we need our employees to learn, retain, and then apply what they learn to improve their knowledge and skills and reach higher levels of performance. That’s the goal. But how many times do we fail to see the ROI we expect? How many times do we see well-executed content NOT applied on the job? How many times do we have to go back to the CFO and explain why the ROI we expected never materialized.
Kristi McNabb, Revenue Operations Manager at BizLibrary, will help you discover how and when employees apply learning to improve their job performance, explain the role managers play in helping employees retain training and drive ROI, and help you understand how microlearning can be a great tool to help employees in their moment of need.
During this webinar, Kristi will provide easy-to-understand insights on:
- How to help employees apply their learning and improve job performance
- A manager’s role in employee retention and training ROI
- How microlearning is a great tool for helping employees acquire skills just when they need them
- ... and much more!

Regardless of content or format, experiential leadership learning is most effective when the answer to these five questions is ‘Yes’.
Is it rooted in reality?
Is reflection placed front and centre?
Does it make you uncomfortable (in a good way)?
Does it help you grow?
Does the outcome really matter?

3 Es of Learning and Development and the 70-20-10 model .
What methods should an organisation provide to its people so that the cumbersome and outdated Single Event Based learning model can be updated to give a fast delivering, ingrained learning to the employees?
The 70:20:10 model, therefore, provides a variety of tools for Learning and Development professionals, an approach just as comfortably applicable and appropriate to SMEs as it is to multinational corporations.

12. QUESTION #10 Has learning been integrated with the performance management system? A survey carried out in 2005 covering 900 learners employed with corporations across industries and size, across responsibility bands, reveals 7 out of 10 respondent did not know exactly why they were nominated to attend a training workshop on more than 50% of the occasion. Such sheer waste can be avoided by integrating learning with individual performance and development plans, for review and career progression.
