1. Lay the 9”X44” fabric facing its right side upward
2. Lay the 27”X44” fabric on top of the smaller fabric with its right
side facing down, pin along the hemline
3. Roll the bottom of fabric upward going to the pinned hemline.
4. Sew the three layers of fabric together to make a casing .Pull
out the fabric inside the casing.
5. Fold the fabric facing wrong sides together and stitch along the
raw edge .
6. Turn inside out, open the seam line, press along line and
sew again the edges to make French seam.

• PATTERN DRAFTING AND CUTTING FABRIC FOR HOUSEHOLD LINENS
A. How to draft a pattern for a pillowcase:
1. Measure your pillow at home. Get the length and width.
2. On your pattern paper, draw vertical line which is the
width measurement and horizontal line which is the
length measurement.
3. Extend lines to form a rectangle.
4. Add 5/8 in. seam allowances along the three sides of
the pattern and 2 inches on the opening.
5. Cut the pattern.

1. On your pattern paper, draw a square
measuring 16 inches ( in.) x 16 inches.

important particularly if you want to ensure the

your cost are kept to a minimum without
compromising quality.

Drying - This is the easiest and the
most common method. The
moisture content of the food is
removed.
Salting – Application of salt to the food to
be preserved. Example: bagoong,
burong manga , mustard, salted
egg, fish sauce

Freezing – This is a quick and convenient
way to preserve food such as meat, meat , poultry,
and fish, which are stored in the freezer until they are
to be consumed
Smoking – This is a method in which food items
such as cured meat or fish is exposed to smoke not
only to preserve them but also to add
flavor and color.

Curing – This method is done by soaking or
injecting meat with preservatives like
sugar, salt, and vinegar solution.
Pickling – Adding pickling solution vinegar,
