Nathuram Godse assassinated Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, 1948. In his final statement before the court during his trial, Godse explained why he killed Gandhi. He believed that Gandhi had failed India by agreeing to the partitioning of the country during independence. Godse felt Gandhi showed favoritism towards Muslims and Pakistan, which led to the suffering of Hindus. While he knew killing Gandhi would ruin him personally, Godse felt it was necessary to remove Gandhi's influence from Indian politics to allow the country to protect itself without appeasing Muslims and Pakistan. However, Godse accepted full responsibility for his actions and did not ask for mercy from the court.

There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
