Editorial
Let’s Redeem Our Pledge…
SSK Times is an English language monthly news
paper by Kalburgi and family launched with an
idea to bring about a unity and integration of our
kins to facilitate the healthy growth of our com-
munity that is spread over most parts of India.
The main idea behind this endeavor is our father
Shree Muralidharsa Kalburgi. He developed an interest in
the historical perspectives of the growth, development,
and geographical distribution of our community. This
triggered of an instinctive move in us to unite our kiths
and kins at the national level and inspired us to under-
take this venture of publishing a monthly i.e., our SSK
Times. Our Grand mother Vithabai F Kalburgi also gave
a great support in bringing the issue. Vinod Kalburgi and
It is with great joy we are bringing out the first issue
of our “SSK Times“. Our foremost objective is to bring
about a unity and integration of our kins to facilitate
the healthy growth of our community that is spread
over most parts of India. Our life today is bogged
by newer challenges demanding a novel outlook and
approaches. Our younger generation has to develop
new skills and computerization to earn better liveli-
hood to enhance efficiency and develop proficiency
in our vocations. The sense of oneness will enhance
our self esteem and is sure to instil in us confidence.
India is a land of composite culture. We have in
India different cultures and they have special char-
acteristics of their own. This basal unity has to be
protected and we have to maintain the elements of
diversity and differentiation intact. The various In-
dian communities cannot live in isolation and ex-
clusion. All the communities shall have to follow in
building themselves upon the lines of federation and
co-operation with one another under the conditions of
a common economic and political life for the upbuild-
ing of a great, a united, and a powerful Indian nation.
Our ideal and aim is to develop our communi-
ty along this path. We have but to draw our inspi-
ration from our heritages and traditions. Our race
is known for its sacrifices. Our forefathers have
fought boldly for protecting our Dharma and terri-
tory. In the present scenario, we have to strive hard
for a prosperous good living in the democratic spirit.
Keeping in view the needs of our larger commu-
nity, we assure you of bringing out the articles and
write-ups that would inspire us for entrepreneurial ad-
venturous innovative outlook and approaches. We as-
sure you of striving hard to bring about an emotional
and thoughtful integration of our broader community.
We do seek your earnest co-operation and wise
counsel, suggestions and criticisms. We also ap-
peal to you to support us through your sub-
scriptions, advertisements and donations.
Send us the news of our people from your places
for publication. Inform the news of the publication of
this magazine to your friends, kiths and kins. We look
forward to your support, co-operation and blessings.
Our S.S.K.Samaj is
scattered in all over In-
dia. Our samaj people are
in Gujarat, Maharasthara,
Madhya Pradesh, some
parts of Rajasthan, An-
dra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu,
and Karnataka according
to the surname “ Baddi or
Badi”. Badi is a town. It is
in the Himachal Pradesh,
in Solan district. It means
some of our Badi family’s
arefromHimachaPradesh.
Badi is a name of place.
Ladwa is also a name of
place, it is near Hariyana
, another one is Rajoli,
it is in Andra Pradesh,
Kanchi ( Pawar) from Ta-
mil Nadu Kanchipuram .
So it means that our fore-
father came from all over
India. But our purvajas
orally talk that we came
from “Mandogada”. There
are two Mandogada’s in
India. One is at Gujarat
and Rajasthan another
one is at Nepal. But our
Somavamsha Sahasrar-
jun Kshatriyas spread all
over India. We all know
the mythological story of
Shri Sahasrarjun but our
people do not know the
present history. Our kings
ruled Gujarat, Madhya
Pradesh, Karanataka,
Andra Pradesh and Tamil
Nadu and other territo-
ries.
In Karanataka, Bad-
ami (Vataapi) was ruled
by the Badami Chalukyas
namely Solanki Dynasty.
In our community, there
so many Solanki Family’s
in Gadag, Hubli, Kol-
hapur, Solapur and many
other cities. In Gujarat
there are many families,
but they are Jains, The
western chalukya kings
of Gujarat and Badami
chalukya kings are the
‘Vishanva Panth’ but
they are influenced by
the Jain Dharma. The
King and some of our
community people also
joined the ‘Jain Dharma’
other rest of the peo-
ple remained as Soma-
vamsha.Sahasrarjun.
Kshatriya (Solanki) so
the Badami chalukya’s
are our community.
Dalbanjan is a very
big and rich family. Orig-
inally Dalbanjan. (Dalab-
hanjan Divisional Mila-
tary authority).
Dalbanjan was a sub-
ordinate king during the
period of “Chalukya’s”
(Dalbanjan and Solanki
are from same family
(Gharana). Till today in
Dalbanjan and Solanki
the matromonials are not
accepted to each other.

1. ASHWINI NAKSHATRA
In Hindu Astrlogy Ash-
vini (00.00-13-20) is the
first Nakshatra. Ashwini
(00.00-13.20 Aries) is
represented by horse’s
head which refelects com-
mencement of a new jour-
ney or beginning of any
thing. The horse itself is a
symbol of power, strength,
courage and vitality, it’s
head indicates swift ac-
tion. Traditional Hindu giv-
en names are determined
by which pada (quarter)
of a nakshatra the moon
was in at the time of birth.
In the case of Ashwini,
the given name would be-
gin with the following syl-
lables: 1st pada – Chu,
2nd pada – Che, 3rd pada
– Cho, 4th pada – La.
Ashwini is represent-
ed either by the head
of a horse, or by hon-
ey and the bee hive.
Ashwini Nakshatra’s
time is best for buying
medicines, growing me-
dicinal plants, gambling,
also best for starting
the business of copper,
Iron, Petrol, Diesel, Fer-
tilizers, Gold and Silver.
People who born on 1
pada should wear Havala,
2nd should wear Vajra (Di-
amond), 3rd should wear
Pachche and 4th should
wear 2 carrot or more.
They should pray Sri Ga-
napathy or Subraman-
ya to avoid ill effects.
People born in this Nak-
shatra are brave, rich,
popular, smart and also ca-
pable to perform all tasks.
For Ashwini Nakshatra
borned: Bharan, Purva,
Purvashada are favora-
ble to earn good amount
of money, so it is best to
start business or new em-
ployment, Rohini, Hasta,
Shravana are best to start
good works, Aridra, Swa-
ti, Shatatarika are inspi-
rational for accomplishing
ambitious tasks. Pushya,
Anuradha, Uttarabhadra-
pada, Ashlesha, Jestha,
Revati are favorable to
make new friendships,
startpartnershipventures.
If Ashiwini Nakshatra
comes on Tuesday it is
believed to be the best to
buy plots and for open-
ing ceremonies. It is
called Amrutsiddiyoga.

Directions
Prep:15min › Cook:35min › Ready in:50min
1.Trim any fat off the chicken thighs, then cut each in half. Put them into a large
saucepan with the onions, cardamom, mirchi, cinnamon, garlic, ginger, turmeric,
curd and salt to taste.
2.Place the pan over a medium-high heat and stir until the chicken starts sizzling.
Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the chicken begins to release its juices,
then reduce the heat to low, cover the pan and simmer for 12 minutes, stirring
occasionally.
3.Meanwhile, chop the spinach, discarding any thick stems.
4.Uncover the saucepan and increase the heat to medium-high. Continue cooking
for 5-6 minutes until most of the liquid has evaporated and the sauce has thick
ened, stirring frequently to prevent it sticking to the bottom of the pan.
5.Stir the tomatoes into the chicken mixture and continue to cook, uncovered, for
1-2 minutes until they are well blended into the sauce.
6.Add the spinach in batches, stirring well. As soon as the first batch begins to wilt,
add the next and keep stirring. Reduce the heat to low and cook, uncovered, for
5 minutes, or until the chicken juices run clear when the pieces are pierced.
7.Add the cream and garam masala, stirring until well blended. Remove the cin
namon stick and serve.

BAL DIWAS: November
14th is celebrated as a fun
and frolic day for children.
Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth-
day is celebrated as Chil-
dren’s Day in our country.
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
(1889-1964) needs no in-
troduction to Indians. He
was born at Allahabad in
1889, educated at Harrow
and Cambridge and be-
came a barrister in Lon-
don. He came under the
influence of Mahatma Gan-
dhiji and joined the Non-
co-operation Movement in
1920. This great freedom
fighter was imprisoned
several times by the Brit-
ish rulers. He became the
first prime minister of In-
dependent India in 1947
and held that position till
his death in 1964. He was
a world statesman and
humanitarian personality.
Jawaharlal Nehru was a
shrewd administrator and
a great patriot. He was a
man of large vision and
liberal ideas. He was also
a great intellectual and a
distinguished writer. He is
one of the greatest Eng-
lish prose writers of the
20th century. He is one of
the very few Indians who
have enriched English lit-
erature by their unique
contributions. Some of his
great works are: Glimpses
of World History, Autobi-
ography, The Discovery
of India, Unity of India.
Jawaharlal Nehru set
the course of independent
India on sound political
and cultural line. He was
also a world-figure, con-
tributing ultimately to the
welfare of humanity as a
whole. His ardent national
patriotic feelings, his dy-
namic and all-round lead-
ership, his devotion and
integrity, his lovable na-
ture as a man, his sense
of humor and his love for
humanity at large, char-
acterized his greatness.
Jawaharlal Nehru loved
little children dearly. The
children too loved him
and affectionately called
him ‘Chacha Nehru’. That
is the reason why his
birthday is celebrated as
the Children’s Day. To-
day’s children are tomor-
row’s citizens. The com-
munity should care for the
welfare of the children.
Children’s Day celebra-
tions every year bring to
us vividly the memory of
the great son of India,
who shaped her destiny
and remind us of our duty
of building a noble man-
sion of free India where
all her children may dwell
happily. The Children’s
Day celebrations also
focus on the problems
faced by our children.

Gadag Editorial Let’s Redeem Our Pledge… SSK Times is an English language monthly news paper by Kalburgi and family launched with an idea to bring about a unity and integration of our kins to facilitate the healthy growth of our com- munity that is spread over most parts of India. The main idea behind this endeavor is our father Shree Muralidharsa Kalburgi. He developed an interest in the historical perspectives of the growth, development, and geographical distribution of our community. This triggered of an instinctive move in us to unite our kiths and kins at the national level and inspired us to under- take this venture of publishing a monthly i.e., our SSK Times. Our Grand mother Vithabai F Kalburgi also gave a great support in bringing the issue. Vinod Kalburgi and It is with great joy we are bringing out the first issue of our “SSK Times“. Our foremost objective is to bring about a unity and integration of our kins to facilitate the healthy growth of our community that is spread over most parts of India. Our life today is bogged by newer challenges demanding a novel outlook and approaches. Our younger generation has to develop new skills and computerization to earn better liveli- hood to enhance efficiency and develop proficiency in our vocations. The sense of oneness will enhance our self esteem and is sure to instil in us confidence. India is a land of composite culture. We have in India different cultures and they have special char- acteristics of their own. This basal unity has to be protected and we have to maintain the elements of diversity and differentiation intact. The various In- dian communities cannot live in isolation and ex- clusion. All the communities shall have to follow in building themselves upon the lines of federation and co-operation with one another under the conditions of a common economic and political life for the upbuild- ing of a great, a united, and a powerful Indian nation. Our ideal and aim is to develop our communi- ty along this path. We have but to draw our inspi- ration from our heritages and traditions. Our race is known for its sacrifices. Our forefathers have fought boldly for protecting our Dharma and terri- tory. In the present scenario, we have to strive hard for a prosperous good living in the democratic spirit. Keeping in view the needs of our larger commu- nity, we assure you of bringing out the articles and write-ups that would inspire us for entrepreneurial ad- venturous innovative outlook and approaches. We as- sure you of striving hard to bring about an emotional and thoughtful integration of our broader community. We do seek your earnest co-operation and wise counsel, suggestions and criticisms. We also ap- peal to you to support us through your sub- scriptions, advertisements and donations. Send us the news of our people from your places for publication. Inform the news of the publication of this magazine to your friends, kiths and kins. We look forward to your support, co-operation and blessings. Our S.S.K.Samaj is scattered in all over In- dia. Our samaj people are in Gujarat, Maharasthara, Madhya Pradesh, some parts of Rajasthan, An- dra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka according to the surname “ Baddi or Badi”. Badi is a town. It is in the Himachal Pradesh, in Solan district. It means some of our Badi family’s arefromHimachaPradesh. Badi is a name of place. Ladwa is also a name of place, it is near Hariyana , another one is Rajoli, it is in Andra Pradesh, Kanchi ( Pawar) from Ta- mil Nadu Kanchipuram . So it means that our fore- father came from all over India. But our purvajas orally talk that we came from “Mandogada”. There are two Mandogada’s in India. One is at Gujarat and Rajasthan another one is at Nepal. But our Somavamsha Sahasrar- jun Kshatriyas spread all over India. We all know the mythological story of Shri Sahasrarjun but our people do not know the present history. Our kings ruled Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karanataka, Andra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu and other territo- ries. In Karanataka, Bad- ami (Vataapi) was ruled by the Badami Chalukyas namely Solanki Dynasty. In our community, there so many Solanki Family’s in Gadag, Hubli, Kol- hapur, Solapur and many other cities. In Gujarat there are many families, but they are Jains, The western chalukya kings of Gujarat and Badami chalukya kings are the ‘Vishanva Panth’ but they are influenced by the Jain Dharma. The King and some of our community people also joined the ‘Jain Dharma’ other rest of the peo- ple remained as Soma- vamsha.Sahasrarjun. Kshatriya (Solanki) so the Badami chalukya’s are our community. Dalbanjan is a very big and rich family. Orig- inally Dalbanjan. (Dalab- hanjan Divisional Mila- tary authority). Dalbanjan was a sub- ordinate king during the period of “Chalukya’s” (Dalbanjan and Solanki are from same family (Gharana). Till today in Dalbanjan and Solanki the matromonials are not accepted to each other. (continued)..... Murlidharsa F. ASHWINI NAKSHATRA In Hindu Astrlogy Ash- vini (00.00-13-20) is the first Nakshatra.
