Dear Sir/Madam:
As the ESE Specialist, I have had the pleasure of working with Laci Cedeno at South Broward High
School for nine years.
Laci Cedeno is a dedicated teacher who always goes the extra mile for her Special Education students.
Mrs. Cedeno is well versed in her content area, and her passion for literature and good humor enliven her
carefully planned lessons and enhance the atmosphere of the classroom. Her nurturing comportment and
commitment to her students’ success is evident not only in our consultations, but with conversations with
her students as well. She regularly incorporates technology, utilizes proven strategies, promotes problem-
solving analysis, and encourages self awareness. Laci carefully and methodically scaffolds lessons and
endeavors to keep the ESE department and parents or guardians informed of assignments and lessons of
study in order to foster student learning and success. Although Mrs. Cedeno treats her students with
compassion, she is adept at setting appropriate boundaries and instilling an efficient learning environment.
In short, Laci Cedeno is a superb teacher and would be an asset to your institution.
Mrs. Cedeno is one of the few regular education teachers who incorporates executive functioning skills,
such as self-monitoring and organization, into her classroom. Laci supplies students with a classroom
calendar and students are expected to refer to and edit the calendar regularly. In order to maintain high
standards, Mrs. Cedeno expects students to turn in work on time and demands their personal best.
However, students know that she is understanding and will work to help students with extenuating
circumstances. Students are required to track progress towards graduation and periodically meet with her
to discuss steps towards ensuring graduation. She will often initiate conferences with me, the ESE
teachers, and guidance counselors to ensure support for particular students. Her innovative strategies and
commitment to student achievement help to secure a firm foundation for students based on their individual
needs.
Laci Cedeno possesses many professional qualities that would be an asset in a higher education setting: a
high-level intellect, creativity, broad scope of curricula, flexibility, strong communication, dedication to
students . Her leadership skills within the department and the school have been an asset as well. For these
reasons, I highly recommend her.
Sincerely,
Amy Mujica
