3. Concept Statement
Fossil & Frames are words
that address the original
site as historical and
undwindling over time.
My concept for the hotel
is to impress upon the
visitors how a mystery
of objects is framed into
eternal beauty.

6. Guest Suite
Branding
is essential to Fossil & Frames to
ensure the best experience for every
guest to enjoy. We distinguish the
end users and cater to their specific
needs. The detail-oriented design is
what separates Fossil & Frames from
other boutique hotels. For example, the
hotel pushes the brand through unique
images that are projected on the walls
and mylar glass. These images convey the
concept of Fossil & Frames. Meanwhile,
they connect with and build an emotional
tie with the guests.
Fossil & Frames also offers unique
activities such as ‘treasure hunting,’
‘true detectives,’ and ‘dancing like the
juniors.’
This is a place to remember the
past fondly, bending the lenses toward
the future.
9. Pueblo Resort Spa
& Salon is an energy
efficient cultural and
spiritual hallmark
that is located in
Tucson, Arizona.
I drew
inspiration from the
ancient Southwest
Pueblo civilization.
They were the pioneers
who used natural and
organic materials
to build beautiful,
sustainable houses on
the cliffs.
The design
concept is to create a
biophilic, welcoming
and spiritual space to
introduce the ancient,
meditative spirits to
the customers. The spa
plan is determined to
incorporate the newest
technology to create
many wonders for the
customers.

• Tilted roof collects

also sunshades on the
south and east side
of the building to
create a Net-Zero Spa

11. Customers who walk into the space
are entranced by the fresco on the
plaster walls. The fresco is painted
by local artists, and the pigments
are locally produced with organic
ingredients. The daylight and fresco work
together to make the space enchanting.
12. The bathers would enjoy the sunlight shining
through the tinted solar roof while relaxing in
the hot tub. The indoor fresco and outdoor plants
bring forward the interplay of local spiritual
atmosphere in the spa and treatment rooms.
13. Sustainable Design And Materials:
• LEED Certified Plaster Wall Finishes by
American Clay
• Local reclaimed wood planks
• LEED Certified Windows & Doors by Marvin
• C2C Certified Porcelain Tiles by Crossvile
• Eco-friendly and renewable laminated bamboo
flooring from local distributor
• The herbs for the Spa Treatments are grown
in the organic garden within the building

14. ZAZEN RESIDENCE
Zazen is a vacation house
in Portland, OR, currently under
construction. I collaborated with the head
designer at FQ Designs to solve multiple
design challenges creating a minimal,
sustainable and cohesive living space. My
updated design of the fireplace, master
bathroom and whiskey room were approved by
the client and the architects. They will
be utilized in the final design.

16. Three Mariotto
families own an apartment
building on 13 Wood St.,
San Francisco, California.
They requested a
renovation for their
existing apartments.
I decided to
bring the sunny, warm,
tropical and entertaining
Caribbean life-style
to their humble homes,
because they live in
a city that’s famous
for its gloomy and cold
summer fog. I chose three
elements from the islands
as my inspiration for
the design: river bank,
volcano and rain forest.
They symbolize peace,
power, and joy.
The design concept
is to create three unique
apartments that interact
with each other like
these three elements from
the tropical Caribbean.

18. The hard lines and contrasting colors redefine
the client’s rigorous work ethic. The lava shaped patio
is designed for the employees who work in the studio,
they can enjoy the peacefulness of the nature and the
color green while they are working on the computers.
19. The tree on the second floor patio
recalls the rebirth of life on the volcano.
The indoor aquarium brings a piece of the
tropics into the space to create human
interactions with nature.
20. Sanature is a brand
name for a beauty supply
store. This name has three
elements: sanitization,
signature and nature. These
are my design concepts for
the store.
Plants in wine corks
displayed in the windows
connect beauty and nature.
The store sign is on the top
left of the façade for people
to see from a distance.
The store has a circular
flow, and the cash wrap is
approachable in the center.
The colors and finishes in
the store have warm brown
and gray hues that make
different skin tones look
more radiant and beautiful.
The living wall behind the
cash wrap connects to the
cork ceiling to envelop the
store in nature.
Sustainability is a
major part of the design.
Cork materials are made
from reclaimed wine corks,
ordered from a local source.
The lighting plan features
LED lights to cut down the
energy cost. Big windows
on the south side provide
sufficient daylight in the
store.

23. Ten Ren Tea is a very famous
tea brand in China. They obtain it
from magnificent high-altitude tea
gardens. Ten Ren is prestigious, and
sold at a relatively high price. Ten
Ren is well-known among established
fans, yet has not been well
introduced.
My design intention is to open
an avenue for this delightful tea
brand to a broader market.
Chinese ink paintings were
used as an inspiration to depict the
beauty of mountain mist. The concept
is to create a soothing, peaceful,
aromatically rich and beautiful tea
shop in a simplistic format. The
aroma of the tea is exposed in the
air throughout the store to advertise
the superiority of the tea.
The displays of tea are shaped
like a Chinese landscape painting of
mountains. They are made of recycled
cardboard and are functional in
accordance with feng-shui. They
prevent negative energy from entering
the space, and instead welcome the
visitors to smell the tea. The Kungfu
Tea shows are fascinating as visitors
are guided into the second area.
The rear part of the store is
a tea bar, where the rich Chinese
tea culture is introduced, and a
social venue for new fans. The venue
could potentially become a culture
phenomenon in Chinatown.
