Philosophy
The interior designer job title holds a great amount of responsibility. I
take that title and my job very seriously. As an interior designer, I
dedicate myself not only to making things pretty, functional, and safe,
but also creating designs that reflect the client’s image and taste, as
well as preserving our environment as much as possible. My greatest
motivation comes from the client as they become excited about their
new environment.
Flexibility
Through the years I’ve enjoyed working with many different styles. From
Old World traditional to Industrial Modern, I pride myself on being flexible
enough to do each very well. To me it’s fun seeing my own personal
tastes change as I work with each client.
Going Green
We are starting to realize the over consumption, waste, harsh chemicals
and the overall destruction of the environment. Every species that
becomes extinct puts the human race closer to being extinct as well.
Interior designers have the ability and responsibility to reduce, reuse,
and recycle. I strive personally and professionally to reduce my carbon
footprint so, that generations after me will be able to enjoy the world as I
have known and loved.

large Menorah will stand in the southwest corner. In the center of the

The pews will be a simple cherry wood design with ocean blue seat
cushions. The cherry wood will be carried to the hard wood flooring.
The ceiling will be adorned with a square pattern made of cherry wood.

11. Egyptian inspired tables will align in a pyramid toward the front of the
room. The student chairs will be replicas of ancient Egyptian ones.
The Egypt room will have plaster walls with hieroglyphics on each wall.
In order to show age the hieroglyphics will be sporadic around the
room. Directly on the North facing wall will be the front of the
classroom. A hook sarcophagus will stand in the Northwest corner. A
blackboard will be surrounded with two stone sculptures of pharaohs.
At the ceiling line images of the Egyptian gods and goddesses will
decorate the wall. In the Northeast corner will be a small pyramid. On
the East walls will be flat roman shades made of white linen. The South
wall will house a storage closet, King Tut’s chair and a wooden and
ivory chest. The flooring will be 18 x 18 tumbled stone tiles. The ceiling
will continue the plaster to replicated a temple’s stone ceiling.
Lighting will be impressions of torches.
• Pyramids and stone pillars shaped like pharaohs should
be present within the room.
• Ancient Egyptian symbols will need to be present. (Upper
and Lower Egypt, combined crown for Upper and Lower
Egypt, etc.)
• Hieroglyphics should adorn the room.
• Egyptian Gods and Goddesses need to be on display.
(Amun, Ra, Horus, Osiris, Ma’at, Anubus, Bastet, Hapy, Isis,
Khepri, Nephthys, Nun, Ra-Horakhty, Seth, Sobek)
• Early Dynastic Period chairs should be used for seating.
• Mummies should be a part of the décor.
Wood was hard to get so, when any was available it was used for pharaohs
(mostly).
It was commonly heavily carved and adorned with gold and paint. This is
King Tut’s Dynasty chair.

12. Upon entering the La Fiesta restaurant, the patrons will be
greeted with heavily, carved, rustic furniture with accents of
bright green, pink, red, blue and yellow. The flooring
throughout the restaurant will be a terra cotta tile. The walls will
be pale yellow with trim accents of turquoise blue. Heavy red
velvet draperies with tassels resembling the sombrero worn
while dancing, will decorate the windows. Murals that depict
various fiesta scenes will be painted on plaster walls in the
dining area. Sombreros and maracas will also be on the dining
area walls. Several piñatas will hang from the ceiling.
• The presence of a party should be obvious. Murals portraying
Mexican parties and dances will be on the walls.
• Menus will be in Spanish as well as English.
• The Mexican musical instrument, the Maracas will be displayed.
• Piñatas will be in the main dining area. This is a great party item
that is filled with candy and hit until it breaks.
• Dark and heavily carved furniture, accented with bright green,
blue, red, yellow and pink will be used.
• Sombreros will be in murals and on the walls. This is a hat used to
keep the sun off of Mexicans as they work outside.
• Terra cotta tile will be used throughout the restaurant. This is a tile
that is made from clay.

Thesis Project-Assisted Living Facility for People Suffering from Dementia.
The inspiration for project comes from the mass of people moving into the age
where many need more medical attention. After researching, I found that 1% of
the people age 60-64 have some form of dementia and by 85 that number
grows 30-50%. These are only the ones diagnosed. Many are not diagnosed.
14. Garden of Glory view their residents much like a
delicate garden. A garden can produce beauty and
flourish if cared for properly; so can a person suffering
from dementia. Garden of Glory strives to give each
resident a nurturing environment that will allow them
to be independent longer. Rich jewel tones were
chosen from the time in the resident’s lives that were
most fulfilling and memorable. The entry to each
person’s private room resembles a front porch to a
Victorian style row house. Personal items were
placed within each entry’s shadowbox that help with
identifying the resident’s room. Public areas were
designed to guide each resident around the facility
with large awnings that have pictures instead of
words. Gardens can be admired from each
residents’ room or ventured through. All of these
special touches to help nurture the memories and
abilities of each resident, allow every individual to
flourish during the remainder of their lives and
creating a loving home.

shows the Hawaiian true colors. With the
aroma of fresh brewed coffee lingering in the
air and the sound of traditional Hawaiian
music, The Artist Spot displays the heart of
Maui. A tourist can shop for locally produced
heirloom jewelry, hula dress, aloha shirts,
ukulele’s as well as unique furniture from the
islands along the waterfront in Lahaina. All of
these items arranged on a background of soft
blues and light oranges to reflect the Maui
sunsets. As an additional treat many of the
artists stop in to enjoy the Kona coffee and
chat with the tourists. The Artist Spot brings
together all of the beauty of the island in one
place and allows visitors to take a piece of it
home with them.

The aroma of the Kona coffee will help lure the guests in but the
local flare for art keeps them there and shopping. The three letter
