2. Child hood Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863 He had six siblings he was the oldest of them In 1879 he was 16 and left home to work as an engineer
3. Young engineer He worked in the city of Detroit as a apprentice machinist Henry Divided his time between operating or repairing steam engines and received $2.50 a week doing so. He married Clara Bryant in 1888 and supported himself and his wife by running a saw mill
4. First car In 1896 with the competition of his own he built a self propelled vehicle the Quadricycle. The car had four wire wheels and was steered with a tiller like a boat It had only two forward speeds and no reverse. It had two cylinders and was a 4 cycle motor.
5. Ford motor Co. The Ford Motor Co. was incorporated in 1903 with Henry as Vice President and Chief engineer. The young company was only able to produce a few cars a day.
6. Assembly line Ford combined precision and speed when manufacturing cars by creating the Assembly line in 1913. It was a continuously moving line where workers remained on place adding one component to each automobile as it moved past them on a line. Delivery of parts by conveyor belt to the workers was carefully timed to keep the assembly line moving smoothly and efficently.
7. Great depression “He fell under the spell of Harry Bennett, a notorious figure with connections to organized crime, who, as head of Ford's security department, influenced every phase of company operations and created friction between Ford and his son Edsel”.
8. The model T The introduction of the model T in 1910 was an instant hit. By 1918 over half the cars in America were model T’s. It was sold for $850 and came in only black.
9. Henry ford dies Ford’s Grandson, Henry Ford II Took over the company after WWI. Henry Ford died on April 7th 1947
