This document discusses persevering in faith through difficult times. It provides three reasons to hold on: 1) Choices cannot be reversed at the Judgment, so remain faithful in your decisions. 2) The cross is 100% effective for our dependence on God, so continue depending on him. 3) The church will last into eternity, so remain steadfast in your destiny with the church. It encourages the reader to remain faithful and not give up hope despite challenges.

1 Thessalonians 5:19: Samson reminds us that no matter the purpose and preparation God has given us, nor how much he fills us with his spirit, we can quench the Spirit in our lives. We can quench the Spirit in all the ways that he should be helping us: in our relationship; losing hope; lack for real prayer; strength in myself; sin and quarrelling.
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

On some level we all deal with selfishness, but there is no room for selfishness in the life of the devoted Christian. Selfishness is the fountainhead of all sin, and is the root of every troubled relationship. Self-centered people refuse to see the damage they are doing to themselves and others. We are called to surrender our life to Christ - our “self-will” must be conquered and destroyed, and “not my will, but God’s be done.” Every thought is to brought into obedience to Christ! We need to recognize the various ways selfishness manifests itself so we can attack and eliminate it. - (10/27/2013)
Despite our sin, God has continued to show all mankind His kindness, especially in providing salvation in Jesus Christ. God’s kindness is not without purpose, it is meant to lead us to repentance. We too must demonstrate kindness in every aspect of our lives.
The fruit of the spirit is joy. Paul’s letter tto the Philippians teaches us that real joy is not dependent on our circumstances, but on being in a right relationship with our Lord Jesus and with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Conviction vs. Complacency (Acts 17:1-15)Josh Weidmann
In this message, we look at the Macedonia journey that Paul and Silas took in the first century, as recorded in Acts 17. From their life we can see the importance of conviction when facing opposition. The Christian life is not a life of complacency or laziness but one of transformation and resolve.

"These are the times that try men's souls."
This simple quotation from one of America's Founding Fathers, Thomas Paine, not only describes the beginnings of the American Revolution, but also the the increasingly crazy world of 2014.
Many people may be distracted by such times but followers of Jesus must keep their eyes on Jesus and stay the course, not give up and run the race God has assigned to each of us till He calls us home or He comes back to earth.
This message is a reminder of the high stakes of staying in the race until the end and not giving up.
This sermon will focus on the Case for the Cross. We will look at Jesus' teaching that he came to bring division and Paul's reflection on that teaching as he depicted the cross of Christ as the great divider. We will explore the critical critique of atheists and finally ponder the greatest challenge of the cross, the challenge to take up our Cross and follow Jesus.
Roman Catholic doctrine, as with any other organization, political party or religion, are its beliefs, tenets, principles, or teachings. “Christian” means follower of Jesus Christ.
Glorifying God by making disciples is a sacred responsibility and a profound privilege. It involves sharing the teachings of Jesus, guiding others in their faith journey, and leading by example in a way that reflects Christ's love and compassion. As we help others grow in their relationship with God and become more like Christ, we not only fulfill the Great Commission but also bring honor and praise to His name.
The context of 10-12 indicate that Antiochus Epiphanies is the subject matter of chapter 12 and not to force the text to say something it doesn't. A spiritual application would be: I. The hope of the suffering saint. "Many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt."
II. Secondly, the reward of the working saint. "They that are wise shall shine,"
III. The rest of the waiting saint. "Go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days."
Not a textual lesson on the chapter itself for it has been previously explained. This lesson deals with the concept of the kingdom of God and how the church IS the kingdom prophesied in Daniel 2.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

2. The Appeal to Hold On
• “We’re holding on
with nothing left to
hold on to.”
1968
3. Battle of the Bulge
• General Tony McAuliffe were not only in a bind
being nearly frozen and low in supplies, they
were facing a surge of 250,000 Germans.
"Us surrender? Aw, nuts!"
5. Observations concerning
Perseverance
• Don’t give up because
choices can’t be reversed at
the Judgment (12:15-17, 29)
Decision
• Don’t give up because the
cross is 100% effective
(12:18-24). Dependence
• Don’t give up because the
church will last into eternity
(12:25-28). – Destiny
6. Choices Can’t be Reversed on
Day of Judgment - Decisions
• Profane – pornos - a word that embodies all that’s
secular.
• One wrong ‘gut’ decision cost him a great legacy.
• When Christians become profane it means that
they sin to the point that God gives them over to
their desires.
• At the judgment one will have no more opportunity
to decide to follow Jesus or beg his way into
heaven by earnestly pleading, “I use to be a
member of the church, I use to be active, I once
was faithful” (see Rev. 2:10). Decide to be faithful!
7. The Cross is 100% Effective
(12:18-24)
• This speaks about one’s dependence
• Moses did not let the lightening, the
thundering the fire and smoke prevent him
from doing the bidding of Jehovah. He
depended upon God to take him where
God wanted him to go.
8. What Dependence Does for the Saint
• First, it makes them come v. 22
They were turning from mount Jerusalem to
heavenly Jerusalem, the church.
• Then it brings them into fellowship v. 23
We’re leaving tracks for others to follow.
• And third, it develops hope v. 24.
The blood of Able only cried out, “Justice!”
The blood of Jesus continually cries, “Mercy!”
9. The Church Will Last Into Eternity
(12:25-28)
• This speaks about one’s destiny.
• When they assembled at the mount the earth
shook from the voice of God. In the end, the
earth will dissolve and the heavens will
evaporate (2 Pet. 3:9ff).
• The church is the portal on earth through which
one reaches heaven.
10. Things that Prevent Faithfulness
• A lack of brother love 1-3.
• A lack of self control vs. 4-6, 16.
• Being disrespectful to the church overseers v. 7, 17.
• Attempting to reinvent Jesus v. 8.
• Embracing conflicting doctrines about Jesus, his
church and salvation 9-11.
• Becoming weary of suffering for the cause vs. 12, 13.
• Making the church physical rather than spiritual
vs. 14, 15.
• Failing to pray for one another v. 18.
• And becoming sour over rebuke v. 22.
