The document discusses how the sacrifice of Jesus Christ provides effective worship of God. It argues that Christ's sacrifice succeeded where animal sacrifices failed by fulfilling God's ultimate will, replacing the old sacrificial system, sanctifying believers, removing sin, destroying God's enemies, perfecting saints forever, and fulfilling the promised new covenant. The sacrifice of Jesus, offered once for all, allows true worship in spirit and truth.

Paul encouraged the Ephesians to love in unity, but unfortunately that love waned in the 30 years following. How can we rekindle our love for Christ and each other? Jesus tells us in this important letter from Christ himself.

Our salvation and Sanctification are from the gift of Christ and all gifts of Christ are communicated to us and given to us by the Spirit of Christ – The Holy Spirit.

Today it is not fashionable to preach a gospel that demands repentance. But the gospel that Jesus preached was call to faith as much as it was summons to repent and forsake sin.
From His first message to His last, the Savior’s theme was calling people to repent.
Everyone worships someone or something, whether that object of adoration deserves it or not. However, Revelation 4 tells us that Christ alone genuinely deserves our worship and why. Listen to the audio of this message at http://cicfamily.com/sermon-listing/?tag=Revelation+of+John.

REGENERATION - TO RECEIVE AN IMPARTED LIFE WHICH MAKES THE RETURN FROM A STATE OF DECLINE TO A REVITALISED STATE POSSIBLE. To be renewed, reformed, or reconstituted; to have a spiritual rebirth (be spiritually reborn) “Born Again”; to cause to be completely reformed or improved and to grow anew (a part to replace one hurt or lost).
Would you take your wife back if she emptied out your savings and left with it all?
In layman’s terms, atonement (reconciliation) is the bringing together of two parties that were initially at odds, and propitiation (appeasement) is the idea of making correction for something that may have caused the two to be at odds.
Let us take for example, the case of a man whose wife empties out his savings and runs away. After a period of separation they decide to settle their disagreement (propitiation) and get back together as one (atonement).
In this scenario, bringing the wife and husband together is atonement (reconciliation) and the provision for taking care (appeasement) of the sinful act of the wife (or husband) - the “money problem” is propitiation.
Guess one of the first questions here would be “how much of the money has she got left”? And for that question to be asked, the husband and wife have to come together one way or the other. Depending on the state of mind of the husband (or how broke he is), the person resolving this conflict will first of all have to be very well sure that the “money problem” is resolved (Holy God: righteousness, truth and justice) who provided (lamb slain from the foundation of the earth).
A comprehensive package that addresses the covetousness of the wife (or as the case may be, the stinginess of the husband and/or other factors that might caused the situation to occur) must also be put in place – these (man’s debt from his sinful nature) are what the Gospel of Jesus Christ addresses through His death, burial, and resurrection.

Everyone is in need of redemption. Our natural condition was characterized by guilt: “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. Christ’s redemption has freed us from guilt, being “justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”.
The benefits of redemption include eternal life forgiveness of sins righteousness, freedom from the law’s curse, adoption into God’s family, deliverance from sin’s bondage, peace with God, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. To be redeemed, then, is to be forgiven, holy, justified, free, adopted, and reconciled.
Rom 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
Last Sunday's lesson, 1 Peter 1"b" with a bit of review on "a". By way of opening illustration, I was friends with a Golden Gloves state champion, amazingly talented at age 16, who I sparred with just one time. One punch, even just a slight jab on his part, was enough to retire me from any fantasies of being a boxer! I'm sure Peter felt infinitely more so about Jesus Christ, just as did the other apostles who knew His Life Death and Resurrection. God Bless!

The context of 10-12 indicate that Antiochus Epiphanies is the subject matter of chapter 12 and not to force the text to say something it doesn't. A spiritual application would be: I. The hope of the suffering saint. "Many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt."
II. Secondly, the reward of the working saint. "They that are wise shall shine,"
III. The rest of the waiting saint. "Go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days."
Not a textual lesson on the chapter itself for it has been previously explained. This lesson deals with the concept of the kingdom of God and how the church IS the kingdom prophesied in Daniel 2.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Renewed in Grace
2. • "One thing I have asked
from the Lord, that I shall
seek: That I may dwell in
the house of the Lord all
the days of my life, to
behold the beauty of the
Lord and to meditate in
His temple" (Psa. 27:4).
• “Fear God and keep his
commandments for this is
the whole of man” (Eccles.
12:13).
Understanding Worship 10:19-25
3. Worship is an overflow of a mind
renewed by the truth of God.
• Sometimes that brings tears of shame
or shouts of praise but what it will lead
to is worship.
• “Casting down imaginations, and every
high thing that exalteth itself against the
knowledge of God, and bringing into
captivity every thought to the obedience
of Christ (2 Cor. 10:5).
4. Returning to Worship
• The failure to worship God in spirit and in
truth is not just an unfortunate lapse in
spiritual enthusiasm, it is a sin (Jn. 4:24).
• Acceptable worship doesn't happen
spontaneously-you must prepare yourself.
5. The Checkpoint of Sincerity
• It is hypocritical to be worshiping God
when you are really apathetic or
preoccupied with self. Draw near to God
with your whole heart.
6. The Checkpoint of Fidelity
When we come by full assurance of faith it
means that one is coming to God on
God’s terms not the terms of rituals or
emotions.
God accepts our worship because it is
biblical not because of what we think
ought to be done in worship.
7. The Checkpoint of Humility
• That is, you come to God with the
knowledge that you are unworthy to be in
His presence.
8. The Checkpoint of Purity
• Since our bodies are
the temple of the Holy
Spirit (1 Cor. 3:16) that
body need first to be
washed by the water of
regeneration (Titus
3:5; Acts 2:38) to wash
away the stench of sin.
• Then there is the
continual daily
cleansing by the Word
of God (1 Pet. 1:23).
10. Checkpoint of Activity v. 24
• The church will not only
be looking for ways to
improve her image but
actively seeking ways
to aid those who are in
need.
• Jesus just didn’t teach
he began to do then
teach (Acts 1:1).
11. Checkpoint of Faithfulness vs. 23, 25
• If one is to worship in spirit and truth then he
must agree to assemble to worship.
• Whatever duress they were under they were not
excused by the Holy Spirit in forsaking the
assembling time and neither is one today.
12. "Jesus Christ, the Perfect Sacrifice"
We Preach Christ Crucified
We Preach Christ
We Preach
13. Biblical Worship Dwells on and
Centers Around Jesus Christ
• At the heart of it, we began to discover
from Hebrews chapter one that Jesus
deserves our worship because he is better
than the angels, he is better than Moses
and better than any priest who ever lived.
And, as a better high priest, He secures a
new and better covenant made possible by
making a better or perfect sacrifice.
• Jesus had to accomplish all those things
so our worship may be made acceptable
unto God.
14. Animal Sacrifices Failed
• They couldn't bring access to God
Without Christ, you can't get past the shadow of
God.
The word "perfection," teleao, means “to come to its
complete end.”
Can’t come through any other means except through
Christ (Jn. 14:6).
Worshipping God through shadows is about
as productive as crossing a raging river by
the shadow of a bridge.
15. Animal Sacrifices Failed
• They couldn't remove sin v. 2.
It was only temporarily covered. And the lid
came off every time they sinned.
Worship doesn’t remove sin.
16. Animal Sacrifices Failed
• They were only external
Hebrews 9:13, "If the blood of bulls and
goats and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling
the unclean sanctifieth only to the
purifying of the external, how much
more shall the blood of Christ who,
through the eternal Spirit, offered Himself
without spot to God, purge your
conscience?"
17. Christ's Sacrifice was so Effective
Because, It Was God's Will All
along.
• “Lamb slain from the foundations of the world”
(Rev. 13:8).
• "I come to do thy will, oh, God. You made a body
for me, and I submit to your will."
• "Mine ears hast thou digged."
• Have we digged our ears in worship with the
whole body or just the emotional aspect of some
worship experience?
God willed a holy humanity.
So Christ's sacrifice was effective because it
fulfilled the ultimate will of God to make man
holy again and approachable to God.
18. Secondly, the sacrifice of Christ was
effective because it replaced the old
system v. 9
• "By which will we are sanctified."
• Paul writes, "This is the will of God, even
your sanctification" (1 Thess. 4:3).
• One can’t set themselves apart by their
own works of worship creativity (Titus 4:4-
5) but one can be set apart for the worship
of God through a holy sacrifice.
The sacrifice of Christ was
effective because it sanctifies the
believer v. 10.
19. Christ's Sacrifice is Better Because it
Removes Sin v. 11
Set of Contrasts
• Many – “One”
• Stood – “Sits”
• Ministers daily – “Offered once”
• Never removed sins – “One sacrifice for
all time”
• The act of Jesus can’t be reproduced but
it can be imitated.
20. Christ's sacrifice was effective because
it destroyed His enemies v. 13
• First of all, He destroyed him that had the power
of death, Satan, (Heb 2:14, 15).
• Secondly, He showed openly in triumph over
fallen angels (1 Pet. 3:19).
• Thirdly, over all those who reject Him and reject
God throughout the ages He shows His triumph
through the church in his presence (Rev. 2, 3).
• The term here simply expresses the concept of a
king who sits on a throne and his subjects are
beneath him.
• No greater verse could be employed here but the
one found in Philippians 2:9-11.
21. His Sacrifice was Effective, Sixth,
Because it Perfected Forever the
Saints, v. 14
• Weymouth New Testament: For by a single offering He
has for ever completed the blessing for those whom He
is setting free from sin.
• Darby Bible Translation: For by one offering he has
perfected in perpetuity the sanctified.
• GOD'S WORD® Translation: With one sacrifice he
accomplished the work of setting them apart for God
forever.
• English Standard Version: For by a single offering he has
perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
• New American Standard Bible:For by one offering He
has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.
• “Don’t harden your heart,” (3:15); “Don’t throw away
your confidence” (3:6; 10:35); “if they fall away” (6:6);
and the ultimate admonition, “for if we sin willfully”
speaking of turning back to the Old Covenant ways,
“there no longer remains a sacrifice for sin” (10:26).
• So the passage is revealing that in contrast to the
continual sacrificing under the old system that Jesus’
sacrifice, though only offered once, will suffice for all
time those who are willing to be sanctified under the
terms of the new covenant.
22. Lastly, the Sacrifice of Christ is
Effective Because it Fulfills the
Promised New Covenant v. 18
• This is important for one to understand
when it comes to the practice of worship
because there is no new revelation, no new
information, no new “spirit informed
practices” or “additional scriptures” added
since the age of the apostles. It is a
covenant once and for all sealed with blood
and delivered with no additions to be made
in the future (Jude v. 3).
23. The Sacrifice of Jesus is
Effective Because:
It FULFILLS GOD’S WILL
IT REPLACES THE OLD SYSTEM
IT SANCTIFIES THE BELIEVER
IT REMOVES SIN
IT DESTROYS ALL ENEMIES
IT PERFECTS THE SAINTS FOREVER
IT FULFILLS THE PROMISED COVENANT
