Choosing the Life of Joy: Joy in PartnershipStephen Palm
In this first sermon in the Philippians series, Choosing the Life of Joy, we explore Joy in Partnerships. Sometimes partnerships are messy and we might be tempted to go solo. However, the Apostle Paul demonstrated that partnerships with fellow leaders and church people added to his joy in Christ. Partnerships are worth the risk!
Jesus healed ten lepers, but only one was thankful (Lk. 17:11-19). The majority were not thankful, including His own people. There is much we take for granted and for which we are ungrateful.
Let us be grateful for the blessing given by God. We depend on Him for our existence (Acts 17:28). He gives us every good thing (Jas. 1:17). Above all, He provides salvation (1 Jn. 5:11).
We can learn lessons from the account of the lepers: obedience brings blessings, Christ has the ability to cleanse, few show gratitude for God’s blessings.
The fellowship of the cross is the most important fellowship in the world. Not even the government assemblies in Washington are more important than the local assembly of faithful disciples when engaged correctly and sincerely. The local church of Christ is to be considered a communion, a fellwoship, a partnership, that is crucial to the saving of souls. No other organization is more important.
Sermon by Mike Smith... Our worship to God must be according to God's standards. We must work on our attitude of gratitude towards God always including our worship to Jehovah.

Continuing in our exploration through the Gospel of Luke, this chapter is a great introduction to the season of Lent. During this season, we will ask, because God pursues what is lost, what response is demanded of us?

1st John 5:6-12
6 This is he who came by water and blood — Jesus Christ; not by the water only but by the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. 9 If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Whoever does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has borne concerning his Son. 11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
