The document discusses the challenges of mobility and allowing access to enterprise data from anywhere. It notes that a significant portion of corporate data now resides on mobile devices and the consumer cloud. This results in security, visibility, and control issues as well as the risk of exposing intellectual property or violating compliance policies. The solution presented is Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere, which allows users to sync, protect, and access enterprise data from mobile devices while providing IT with control and visibility over corporate data mobility.

Load Balancing and Data Management in Cloud Computingijtsrd
Cloud computing is an online storage media where we access, store and manage the data. It stores the data on remote servers rather than a local server and that data can be accessed through the internet. For example Google Drive is personal cloud storage from Google. When there are number of request in cloud computing, then load balancer is used to distribute request between the remote servers and efficiently handle those request. Load balancer distributes client request or network load efficiently across multiple servers. By using cloud infrastructure, we don't have to spend huge amount of money on purchasing and maintaining equipment. Cloud data management is a way to manage data across cloud platforms, either with or instead of on premises storage. It's not if you move to the cloud, but when. Most organisations are well underway with migrating applications and data to the cloud. In fact, most organisations - whether they realise it or not - have a multi-cloud strategy. Single, hybrid, or multi-cloud…the potential benefits are huge - flexibility, agility, cost savings, scaling on-demand, etc. However, the challenges can be just as large and daunting. A poorly managed migration to the cloud can leave users frustrated at their inability to get to the data that they need and IT scrambling to cobble together a solution.
In this session, we will look at the challenges facing data management teams as they migrate to cloud and multi-cloud architectures. We will show how the Denodo Platform can:
- Reduce the risk and minimise the disruption of migrating to the cloud.
- Make it easier and quicker for users to find the data that they need - wherever it is located.
- Provide a uniform security layer that spans hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

The hybrid cloud computing market is analyzed based on four segments: solutions, service model, verticals and regions. The solutions segment includes application architecture, network integration and management systems. Application architecture segment is expected to have a major role in the hybrid cloud computing market.
According to Infoholic research, the “Worldwide Hybrid Cloud Computing Market” is expected to grow at a CAGR of 34.3% during the forecast period 2016–2022.
This presentation highlights changing landscape of data centers. It draws the parallels with the web evolution and shows how data center 1.0 is different from 2.0 to 3.0. It also talks about Cisco UCS and BMC Bladelogic partnership.
IT leaders are adopting hybrid cloud services at a rapid pace to increase business agility and cost containment. According to a February 2016 IDG study on Hybrid Cloud Computing, up to 83 percent of C-level respondents use or plan to use a hybrid cloud.27 Transforming IT service delivery to a hybrid cloud consumption model is the clear path for the vast majority of organizations. The bigger issue is how quickly an organization can change.
While building your own hybrid cloud solution may seem attractive, you should seriously evaluate the challenges such an option presents to already overextended IT staff resources. As detailed in this paper, organizations must be prepared for the likelihood of higher costs, longer deployments, and greater risks than they may initially expect. In addition, the IT community as a whole is rapidly moving away from integrating components and delivering services manually to a more strategic focus on providing high-value services to businesses.
The race to deliver cloud-native applications and services to the business demands that traditional IT services and applications either evolve to a hybrid cloud consumption model or risk placing the business at a competitive disadvantage. An engineered solution not only saves time, money, and resources but also allows your IT staff to focus on innovation and delivering IT services that increase business value and align with the evolving marketplace of IT services for enterprise-level organizations.
Organizations should seize the opportunity to achieve the transformational efficiencies the hybrid cloud can deliver. When planning your journey, consider buying rather than building your own solution to speed time to value, minimize expenditures, and reduce risk.
Webinar presented live on May 11, 2017.

Get Cloud Resources to the IoT Edge with Fog ComputingBiren Gandhi
Fog Computing as a foundational architectural concept for Internet of Things (IoT) and Internet of Everything (IoE).
Embedded devices in the IoT are hampered by the compute, storage, and service limitations of living life on the edge. As IoT edge devices comprise broader sensor networks for industrial automation, transportation, and other safety critical applications, their high uptime requirements are nonnegotiable and service latencies must be kept within realtime or near real time parameters. However, the size, weight, power, and cost constraints of edge platforms also inhibit the ondevice resources available for executing such functions. In this session, Gandhi will introduce Fog Computing, a new paradigm for the IoT that extends compute, storage, and application resources from the cloud to the network edge. Beyond the interplay between Fog and Cloud, Gandhi will show how Fog services can be leveraged across a range of heterogeneous platforms—from end user devices and access points to edge routers and switches—through software technology that facilitates the collection, storage, analysis, and fusion of data to drive success in your next IoT device deployment.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

The BYOD (bring your own device) phenomenon is exploding. Mobile devices, mobile workforces, mobility of data on premise, off premise, and across the globe, create many new business opportunities. BYOD brings many benefits in terms of greater user satisfaction and productivity, lower IT costs, and business agility. There is a clear need for enterprise file sync and share, but the approaches commonly taken provide stand-alone solutions that are not integrated with enterprise data management.
“Mobility will continue to transform the way virtually all forms of content, applications, and services are created, distributed, managed, and consumed”
– IDC
“28% of corporate data resides exclusively on laptops, smartphones, and tablets”
– Gartner
Reframe
This explosion of data mobility ends up putting data outside the control and supervision of corporate IT. Bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies are gaining acceptance and rapidly becoming the norm. While corporate issued laptops are still commonplace, mobile phones and tablets are making users more productive. Reports from Cisco and other networking vendors indicate that more than half of the companies surveyed permit employee owned devices in the workplace. However, in order to use those devices, workers are using file synchronization tools such as Dropbox to have the same data on all their devices. This presents many risks to corporate data if it is not under IT control and management.
Emotional Impact
Use of file sync and share services without consulting the IT department can bring unintended consequences. For example, a doctor puts patient data on her tablet so she doesn't have to carry a pile of charts on her rounds. The tablet is stolen and HIPPA regulators are not happy. A marketing guy puts a product roadmap presentation into a file sharing service that gets hacked and future product details are leaked to the press. A salesperson loses his computer bag at an industry conference and price lists and customer contact information are now in the hands of the competition.
Back when everyone used corporate issued laptops and BlackBerrys, IT had the control to help mitigate these risks. In today's world of bring-your-own-device (BYOD) and cloud, departments and even individual users have access to inexpensive or even free tools that avoid capital expense, development and test delays and other pains associated with internal IT teams. What these departments and individuals may not realize is that part of the reason for these pains is the necessary rigor that IT has developed to ensure data protection, security, privacy, compliance and other services required for applications and their data. While it might be cheaper and faster for users and departments to just go around IT, that doesn't mean they should.
Rational Drowning
Mobility is the new normal. One industry survey shows that ~30% of corporate data resides exclusively on laptops or mobile devices. This data may be used for business purposes but is not always protected or secured by IT. It cannot be stopped. Cloud services and modern devices give lines of business and even individual users the tools to get data where they need it. Since these groups are usually unaware of all the effort that IT puts into protecting, securing and properly managing data, they simply don’t understand the risks to which they are exposing the rest of the organization. The data gets scattered across a variety of corporate assets, file sync and share tools, and cloud storage services, driving up costs, reducing efficiency, compromising security, complicating audits, hindering e-discovery, and risking non-compliance with regulations.
New Way
There are technologies that empower IT to equip users with the right tools for mobility and enhanced collaboration. The technologies used by big cloud service providers are also available for private organizations. Technologies like object storage, cloud file gateways and file sync and share tools are plentiful and can combine the flexibility and cost of the cloud with the rigor and security of private IT. Bringing in object storage is a key step for transforming IT into more responsive, flexible and cost-effective internal service provider that better serves the needs of the business, as well as the lawyers and insurance companies.
With an object store at the core, IT can offer a range of new services quickly and easily, such as cloud gateways and file sync and share. These technologies may seem simple on the surface, but taking on each one as its own project spawns siloes of technology that have a negative impact on efficiency, hamper business intelligence efforts and create headaches around installation and support.
With the right enterprise-grade tools, IT can encourage proper data mobility so workers can work the way they want, from wherever they want. The right solution will enhance an organization's overall productivity and efficiency, while also securing the data end to end, regardless of where, when and how the data is accessed.
Solution
Hitachi Data Systems offers a unique solution. Unlike competitors such as Dropbox, Box and Citrix, the Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere is a fully integrated content mobility solution designed for enterprise IT. It works with existing virus scanners. It can mobilize data in Hitachi or 3rd party NAS devices and content management systems like SharePoint to protect existing investments in technology and processes. It integrates with ID management tools like Active Directory. It can be deployed entirely on premises for complete security, visibility and control over data storage and access. It’s perpetual user licensing and software defined deployment make it very cost competitive for organizations with 250 or more users, even when compared to tools that only use public cloud storage.
Users also benefit from HCP Anywhere as it helps them be more productive and mobile. They are no longer tied to laptops and VPNs to access their data. Their smartphones, tablets and other BYOD tools can access the same data, allowing them to work with the applications and devices that best suit their style, location and time constraints. HCP Anywhere also protects user data so that it can be easily recovered in the event of laptops being lost or stolen, disks failing or other issues by enabling access from any smartphone, tablet or other web enabled device.
Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere is part of the tightly integrated Hitachi Content Platform portfolio which includes Hitachi Data Ingestor to mobilize data among remote and branch offices and Hitachi Content Platform object storage software as the core object store. Having a single repository allows IT to retain visibility and control over corporate data and improves business insight.
Using HCP Anywhere also means greater storage and network efficiency by sharing links instead of entire files, using built in-deduplication and compression of data and eliminating the need for tape backups. With Hitachi Content Platform portfolio, content mobility is simple and efficient. Connecting mobile workers (HCP Anywhere) and remote sites (HDI) to the central private cloud (HCP) stores far fewer copies of data (enough to ensure protection/preservation) that are also deduped and compressed. Full files are only maintained where necessary for instant access, protection, compliance, cost etc. while links provide remote access and metadata ensures IT has visibility and control over how and where data is stored and who can access it by making use of the content inventory created by the HCP. This HCP private cloud can be augmented with public cloud storage from a variety of service providers to create a true hybrid cloud that can be secured with the your own encryption before data leaves the private cloud.
Let me show you a demo of how I use HCP Anywhere.
