HAPPY
REPUBLIC DAY
The seeds of a republican nation were sowed by
Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru.
The flag of India(without British emblem) was hoisted by
Nehru on 31 December 1929 on the banks of Ravi river, in
Lahore
On 26th January 1930, the Declaration of Indian
Independence (Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the
Indian National Congress by asking public, nationalists
and congress volunteers to hoist the flag all over India
Father of Indian
Constitution
On 29 August 1947, a resolution was moved for the
appointment of a Drafting Committee to draft a
permanent constitution, with Dr. BR Ambedkar
as its chairperson after independence
The Indian Constitution came into effect on 26
January 1950, which declared India’s occurrence as
an independent republic.
Republic Day signifies the right spirit of
Independent and individual India. The important
symbols of the festival include the exhibition of
military equipment, the national flag and military
equipment.
On that day began Dr. Rajendra Prasad's first
term of office as President of India
The Constituent Assembly became the Parliament
of India under the transition provisions of the new
Constitution.
The main Republic Day celebration is held
in the national capital, New Delhi, at the
Rajpath before the President of India. On
this day, ceremonious parades take place at
the Rajpath, which are performed as a
tribute to India; its unity in diversity and
rich cultural heritage.
The Chief Guest at the
Republic Day parade is accorded India’s
highest honour in protocol terms. The process
of extending the invitation to a Head of State
or Government starts around six months
ahead of Republic Day. The Ministry of
External Affairs (MEA) considers several issues,
most importantly the nature of India’s
relationship with the country concerned.
There is a military parade, showcasing the might of India's
military and honouring those who have chosen to defend
the nation and all it stands for with their life.
It also features floats representing ministries or states that
show the diversity of India. It's a day of patriotism and
pride
The parade comes to an end when the Indian Air Force
fighter jets flypast Janpath.
Celebrations, though on a relatively smaller scale, are also
held in all state capitals, where the Governor of the state
unfurls the flag. Same celebrations are also held at district
headquarters, subdivisions, taluks, and panchayats.
On the eve of Republic Day, the President of India distributes Padma Awards to
the civilians of India every year. These are the second highest civilian awards in
India after Bharat Ratna. These awards are given in three categories, viz. Padma
Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, in decreasing order of importance
Padma Vibhushan Padma Bhushan Padma Shri
73rd REPUBLIC DAY
From this year onwards, Republic Day
Celebrations will begin every year from 23rd
January(celebrated as Parakram Divas) instead of
24th January in respect to the birth anniversary of
Nethaji Subash Chandra Bose.
2022
After all the celebrations are done the Beating The Retreat takes place which
officially denotes the end of Republic Day festivities.
Beating the Retreat ceremony is conducted on the evening of January 29, the third
day after the Republic Day. The drummers also give a solo performance (known as
the Drummer's Call). The bands march back playing a popular martial tune
Saare Jahan Se Achcha.
At exactly 6 pm, National Flag is lowered, and the National Anthem is sung,
bringing the Republic Day celebrations to a formal end.
Constitution Of India gives us our
Fundamental Rights, which is the essence
of our freedom
• Right to Freedom of Speech
• Right Against Exploitation
• Right to Education
• Right to Equality
“what is right is right and it must be
fought for”.
-Mahatma Gandhi
On this day let us make a promise to strive
for justice, freedom and equal rights for
every Indian and for peace and unity among
all who are fortunate enough to live in this
glorious nation
