The first mobile phone call was made in 1973 in the United States by a Motorola employee. Early mobile phones could only make and receive calls but modern smartphones can browse the web, play games, take photos and videos, and have many other functions. Mobile phones have advanced from heavy devices using radio frequency to communicate to today's smaller smartphones that also send texts, photos, and videos. While mobile phones enable communication, organization, and entertainment, some disadvantages include short battery life, constant connectivity interrupting work-life balance, privacy risks from sharing photos and videos, and potential health effects from overuse.
