- 1. Modular Trendelenburg Pad System INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE 1. Make sure the surgical table top is without a sheet or overlay and free of moisture. Pad system goes directly on mattress top. 2. Take Hadron FPLS™ out of its wrapper and peel off the six (6) PSA strip tabs exposing the pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA). 3. Flip and place on table top foam side up, pressing down the pad along all edges to activate the pressure sensitive adhesive. 4. If using draw sheet place for securing patient’s arms, place on top of the pad at this time. 5. As patient arrives and before they move to the table, reposition the pad if necessary to line up with patient’s torso so that the patient’s head is proximal to anesthesia provider. If necessary, reapply pressure to activate PSA. 6. Make sure patient’s perineal area is placed at the lower edge of pad, as this facilitates movement and favorable positioning during lithotomy. Tear out the perforated perineal portion of the pad if necessary. You can also fold under any exposed blue lifting pad material. 7. After patient has been intubated for general anesthesia, two to four providers may then use the handles to lift and move patients to correct position as indicated for lithotomy. It is necessary for a provider to lift and hold feet while patient is lifted and moved. Note: Once the pad is positioned we suggest the use of either the Velcro® loops located on the 3rd set of handles, or new 2 inch Velcro strap attached to pad, to tether the bed rail system. 8. If using the iON ESPS® arm adduction system, arms may be secured as indicated. If standard draw sheet is used for securing arms please follow current AORN guidelines. 9. Place chest pad in center of patient’s chest and then apply the 2” Velcro® strap in order to secure patient. Tighten as needed using clinical judgment to minimize pressure related injuries. This is an important step in optimizing potential for patient sliding in significant degrees of Trendelenburg. Chest strap must be used with this pad system as it assures PSA compression and decreased movements due to skin elasticity, especially in moderate to obese patients. 10.
