Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail invented the telegraph in 1844, allowing electrical pulses representing dots and dashes to transmit messages along cables using Morse code. This was a radical change, providing a quick and easy way to communicate over long distances. Telegrams were initially used for official purposes but became popular for public use in India in the 1850s. However, new technologies like mobile phones, the internet, and social media have now replaced telegrams.

We humans, are the foundation stone of this blue planet ‘Earth’. We changed the way we look. It was not frequent, it took centuries to accomplish the dream of civilized society. We have left our footprint on moon and reached Mars. First wires, then wireless and now clouds. It is unbelievable how much far we are, manpower age to capital power era. Vision for the advancement of mankind to form the whole world one nation. Not only we altered the world, we also transformed the social life of us. Know more https://goo.gl/UYKQpB
The history of technology has many lessons on how technology trends evolve over time. Discoveries create opportunities for practical solutions. The foundation for electronic communication as we know today was laid in the 19th century. From 1820 to the turn of the century, innovators made experiments and discoveries.
Morse’s telegraph made Western Union big and powerful. The telegraph proved to be a disruptive technology that changed how wars were fought and how businesses were run. However, the telephone would also prove to be disruptive and destroyed the telegraph business.
At the dawn of the 20th century many believed that there was a market for wireless communication. One was Guglielmo Marconi, who set out to commercialize the technology. Marconi and others created a new market for communication

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

1. ????? July 15, 2013 ?????
1844
Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail invented the unique way of sending
messages.
Fastest mode of communication after smoke and flag signaling.
Short electrical pulses which represented letters ,when translated
into a string of dots and dashes, sent on a cable and translated back
at the other end formed the message.
GROWING TECHNOLOGY--REDUNDANCY
END OF TELEGRAMS ---- INDIA
The TELEGRAM is going to die. Long live the TELEGRAM
3. THE TELEGRAM WAS BORN
The first telegram by Samuel Morse to Alfred Vail on May 24, 1844 was
“What hath God wrought”
4. A RADICAL CHANGE
QUICK AND EASY COMMUNICATION
Some great telegrams---
Mark Twain, an American Author heard that his obituary had been
published.
He sent a cable from London in 1897 saying:
"The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.”
Shortest telegram
Oscar Wilde from Paris to London
He was living in Paris and he cabled his publisher in Britain to see
how his new book was doing.
The message read: “?” The publisher cabled back: “!”
5. The Wright brothers announced their first successful flight in 1903
‘Successful four flights Thursday morning”
On April 15 1912, the Titanic is believed to have sent its last
wireless message.
"SOS SOS CQD CQD Titanic. We are sinking fast. Passengers are
being put into boats. Titanic”
A famous historical telegram
It was sent by the head of the Navy on September 3 1939. It read
simply:
“Winston is back.”
6. Types of telegrams.
Physicist Edward Teller sent a telegram in 1952 to colleagues at Los
Alamos about the first hydrogen bomb detonation, saying: "It's a boy".
7. IN INDIA
Services began in 1850---first experimental telegraphic line
between Calcutta and Diamond Harbour was started by the British.
By November 1853, thousands of miles of lines were connected all over
the country.
In 1854 a surgeon by profession Dr. William O’Shaughnessy
commissioned a separate department and opened it to the public.
By 1855 it was a popular, safe, quick mode of communication for public
use.
It was Gandhi’s E mail.
8. The telegraphic mode of communication was used mostly for official and
Government purposes.
William O’Shaughnessy sent the first telegram 163 years ago from Calcutta
to Diamond Harbor.
GOOD or BAD?
India’s First War of Independence, the rebellion of 1857, failed because of
this technology, Britain got prior information, but it soon became a savior.
Lord Dalhousie once remarked that the Telegraph saved India. It helped
in the mobilization of troops in a faster and easier manner.
In 1947 Nehru, India’s first PM sent a 230 word message to Clement Atlee,
the British Prime minister.
1980’s was the Golden Period of India’s telegraphy
9. .
"Brevity is the soul of telegraphy," wrote Ross. Telegrams were
charged by the word. Articles, prepositions and conjunctions were not
used. Sometimes in the process you got howler messages.
A sample message
GIRL STOP SAFE
This means a girl is born and mother and child are safe.
You pay for each letter and so you try to be brief
You had codes for greetings .Choose the code or number and a
greetings message is sent.
10. KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK ----- Telegram.
The khaki clad figure
The harbinger of news good or bad
Messages delivered any day any time
A sense of fear, anticipation, hope, mixed emotions---
You opened the telegram with trembling fingers and everyone waited with
abated breath.
A sigh of relief, a cry of joy, a sense of sadness and gloom----all a part of the
game.
The delivery man became a part of the family.
11. Over the years, Morse code has given way to telex machines and
teleprinters, and finally electronic printers and computers.
At its peak less than three decades ago, a network of 45,000 telegraph offices
served the sprawling country. Now there are only 75.
New technology has taken over.
IT IS THE AGE OF MOBILES , INTERNET, BLOGS, SMS, FACEBOOK,
