United States Navy
E.S.W.S Pin
To receive this prestigious recognition requires in depth knowledge of all departments and operations of a
Navy vessel. I trained and studied with each department including mechanical, engineering, and the
flight deck for four months, prior to completing a written exam. I completed the written exam with a
passing score of 92%, while the cut off score was 80%. Following, I was required to complete two oral
examinations, one from a group of my peers and the other from a team of higher ranked enlisted
personnel. After successfully passing the oral exams, the final step to complete a walk around with the
Commanding Officer of the ship, and demonstrate my knowledge of various systems and their operation.
2. Due to the level of success I had during my process receiving the E.S.W.S. Pin, I was tasked with leading
instruction for future deployed sailors to prepare them for the pin.

Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals
I was in charge of a team of five sailors and we were tasked with completing welding repair on a military
LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushion) hovercraft. This request came to the team with the requirement of
the hovercraft being made mission ready in a single week. Diving into the work, the team completed tig
welding on aluminum, and worked in twelve hour shift rotations to meet the order given by the leading
chief petty officer. My tasks were providing turnovers to both groups to ensure a continuous flow of
work, action planning for each shift, performing hands on work alongside the team, and coordinating
inspections for the work being accomplished. The team successfully completed all work and all of the
welds tested by NDT with a 100% pass rate in three days. This was a major accomplishment for our team
as those repairs generally took three weeks, and the earlier completion saved the Navy roughly $75,000 in
manpower and service hours.
