Water pollution
Soil pollution

Causes of air pollution
Cars, buses, aircraft, ships, factories,
power stations….
Effects of air pollution
Global warming. Quality of air we breathe is
affected which can result in health problems

4. Water pollution
Causes of water pollution
Throwing waste, factories releasing waste
water into rivers, sea. Ships releasing
used oil into the sea.
Effects of water pollution
Aquatic life affected. Health problems
when consuming sea foods

5. Land pollution
Causes of land pollution.
Homes, offices, markets, generates
waste. Waste are sent to landfills
which create land pollution
Effects of land pollution
When they decompose wastes can
affect the air, ground water. The soil
can no longer be used.
Chemicals from waste affects the
surrounding soil and makes it unusable

6. Consumption of natural resources
Causes of natural resources depletion
Trees are cut down for making paper,
wood products. For making buildings.
Other natural resources are natural
gas, oil, metal ores.
Effects of depleting natural resources
Excessive consumption of natural
resources destroys natural habitat of
animals.
Resources such as metals ores, oil are
not replaceable.

7. Effects on the environment
Air pollution, water pollution, land pollution and natural resources are caused by
daily human activities. People need to travel, factories need to work. We need
natural resources to make products.
If the same trend continues there is a risk of doing serious damage to the
environment. This will result in the following:
1.Greenhouse effect.
2.Severe drought.
3.Flash rainfalls
4.Depletion of natural resources.

8. Green design
Green design is designing a product so that it has minimum negative impact on
the environment.
e.g todays car,aircarft are design so that they consume less fuel.
Green design can also be explained as follows: designing a product and at the
same time we consider the impact of the product on the environment during its
life cycle
