A polyhedron is a three-dimensional solid shape bounded by flat polygons. It has faces, edges, and vertices. Faces are the flat polygons that make up the sides of the polyhedron. Edges are the lines where faces meet. Vertices are the points where edges intersect. Regular polyhedra have identical regular polygons for faces and the same number of faces meeting at each vertex. Prisms and pyramids are examples of polyhedra. Euler's formula relates the number of faces, edges and vertices of any polyhedron as F + V = E + 2.

Eight male subjects performed cutting maneuvers with different footwear on artificial turf to measure lower extremity forces. Peak vertical ground reaction forces were compared between football cleats and turf shoes. The only statistically significant difference was that forces on the left leg when cutting right were greater for cleats than turf shoes. While few differences were statistically significant, the study found trends such as higher forces on the push-off leg when cutting and evidence of limb dominance when running straight. Further analysis of shear forces during cutting may provide more insight into footwear effects on performance and injury risk.

Eight male subjects performed cutting maneuvers with different footwear on artificial turf to measure lower extremity forces. Peak vertical ground reaction forces were compared between football cleats and turf shoes. The only statistically significant difference was that forces on the left leg when cutting right were greater for cleats than turf shoes. While few differences were statistically significant, the study found trends such as higher forces on the push-off leg when cutting and evidence of limb dominance when running straight. Further analysis of shear forces during cutting may provide more insight into footwear effects on performance and injury risk.

: A pinhole can form an image in much the same way as a lens. Measuring the size of the Sun's projected image and the distance between the pinhole and the image, you will be able to calculate the diameter of the Sun.
Required Items:
a friend to help you, a broom handle (or mop handle or long straight piece of wood of similar dimensions), a ruler (marked in centimeters), two envelopes (or two 5 x 7 index cards), a pencil, masking tape, one stickpin.

Preparation:
Use the stickpin to poke a small hole near the center of one of the envelopes. Mark a location near the top of the broom handle with masking tape (this is where your friend will hold the envelope with the pin-hole). Mark another location near the end of the broom handle with masking tape (this is where you will observe and mark the image). Carefully measure the distance between your two marked locations on your broom handle. Make your measurement to the nearest 0.1 centimeter and record here: ___________ cm.

Caution: never stare directly at the Sun. Gather your friend, marked broom handle, two envelopes, pencil, and then head outside. With your friend holding the envelope with the pinhole at the upper marked position and you holding the other envelope at the lower marked location, align the broom handle such that a small faint image of the Sun's disk is seen on the lower envelope. Measurement: Accuracy and Precision
When scientists collect data, they must determine the accuracy and precision of their measurements.
Accuracy refers to how close the measured quantities are to the actual or true value. Precision refers to
the closeness of each of the data sets to one another. To distinguish between these two terms, it is
useful to think of a target and the position of the measurements on the target. If the measurements are
clustered together but away from the center of the target, then we would say the measurements are
precise, but not accurate. If the data hits the center on the target, the measurements are precise and
very accurate, i.e. the values collected are close to the true value one should obtain. In today’s lab,
you will make measurements and perform calculations to the appropriate number of significant figures.
You will then determine if your measurements are precise and/or accurate. Before doing this though,
you will have several exercises that test your knowledge of significant figures.
Significant Figures
In any given measurement, non-place holding digits are referred to as significant digits or most often
“sig figs” (for significant figures). The greater the number of sig figs, the greater the precision in the
measurement. To determine the number of significant figures in a given quantity, follow these rules:
1. All nonzero numbers are significant.
2. Zeroes located between two numbers are significant.
3. Zeroes located after a decimal point are significant
4. Zeroes located to the left of the first nonzero number are NOT significant; therefore, the
number 0.002 has only 1 significant figure since the 3 zeroes prior to the number 2 are
serving only as place holders.
5. Zeroes located at the end of a number but before a decimal point are ambiguous. For
instance, we cannot determine the number of sig figs in say, 6350. To avoid this
confusion, we either write 6350. or 6.350 x 103 to indicate that the zero is significant.
6. Exact numbers (numbers obtained from counting or numbers originating from defined
quantities, such as 12 inches = 1 foot) have infinite number of significant digits.

In this section we will revisit histograms which can be estimated with normal (symmetric, bell-shaped) curves. From
Test 1 remember that normal curves have z-scores (for any data value) and areas under the curve (one way: Empirical
Rule). Now we will use these normal curves to find probabilities (areas) and z-scores for any data value. Why do we
need to study this? Eventually we will use these probabilities and z-scores to make decisions.
By using the normal distribution curve, we are treating the data as a continuous random variable that has its own
continuous probability distribution. (Remember that any probability distribution has two properties: all probabilities
are between 0 and 1 and the sum of the probabilities is 1.) **Probabilities = Areas under the curve**
Ex: Consider the normal distribution curves below. Which normal curve has the greatest mean? Which normal curve has
the greatest standard deviation?
Note: Every normal distribution can be transformed into the Standard Normal Distribution (the distribution for z-

The first topic is CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). I have published CVEs many times. But what exactly is a CVE? I'll provide a basic understanding of CVEs and explain how to detect and handle vulnerabilities in OSS.
Next, let's discuss package managers. Package managers play a critical role in the OSS ecosystem. I'll explain how to manage library dependencies in your application.
I'll share insights into how the Ruby and RubyGems core team works to keep our ecosystem safe. By the end of this talk, you'll have a better understanding of how to safeguard your code.

A data warehouse is a central relational database that contains all measurements about a business or an organisation. This data comes from a variety of heterogeneous data sources, which includes databases of any type that back the applications used by the company, data files exported by some applications, or APIs provided by internal or external services.
But designing a data warehouse correctly is a hard task, which requires gathering information about the business processes that need to be analysed in the first place.
