17. Q&A Transcript
Q: Where do you see video conferencing as an industry progressing in the next five
years?
A: I believe that WebRTC will become a more commonly used technology when it comes
to video conferencing in the future. WebRTC makes video conferencing more accessible,
and allows it to function over a large amount of devices, without the dedicated hardware
component or dedicated plug-ins and other software.
Q: What do you still think is lacking within the video conferencing market? Any
customer needs that are still left unfulfilled?
A: Interoperability between video conferencing systems is still lacking. I see
improvements but this is a slow area of progress. This is an area where the GVC3200
excels, as it supports a variety of different codecs that allow for calling between different
brands of video conferencing hardware. The GVC3200 also supports Android applications,
for an added layer of interoperability.
18. Q&A Transcript
Q: What are some of the top features requested by your customers when it comes
to video conferencing hardware?
A: The most commonly requested feature is screen sharing, in order to share
presentations, charts, and other desktop content. Another feature is to have more
concurrent video feeds, as many systems limit video feeds to 3 to 5. The GVC3200 allows
up to 9 video streams, providing a solution for those customers needing more concurrent
attendees.
Q: Within OnSIP, about what percentage of your deployments include video
conferencing hardware? Has this rate been growing over the last few years?
A: Anywhere between 7-10% of new deployments request video conferencing, and we
have seen this increasing recently with the release of a wider variety of video conferencing
devices and technology. I see this growing even further in the next few years, as
technology improves and makes video conferencing even more accessible.
19. Q&A Transcript
Q: Can we show presentation via Miracast?
A: Miracast is not supported on the GVC3200 or GVC3202, only screen sharing via HDMI
or VGA.
Q: Can we control the GVC3200 from the GAC2500?
A: The GAC2500 allows limited controls of the GVC3200. The GAC2500 allows the users
to end a conference, mute the audio, and control the volume. However all other features
would need to be controlled through the GVC3200 directly. The GAC2500 essentially acts
as a speakerphone for the GVC3200.
20. Q&A Transcript
Q: How good is the integration between the GVC3200 and the GAC2500?
A: Both devices are fully interoperable with each other, as the GAC2500 is included in the
package as a speaker phone for the GVC3200. Configuration is easy, and the GAC2500
can quickly be connected to the GVC3200 via Bluetooth, USB or Wi-Fi.
Q: What are the benefits of going with an appliance versus using a PC-based client?
A: Video conferencing hardware has the benefit of better speed and connectivity over a
PC based client. PC based clients experience a more severe lag, and have not caught up
to the speed capability that is available through a hardware based system with a dedicated
MCU.
