The Second Oldest After The Westin
The Sheraton name is a long standing brand under Starwood hotels and is currently the second
oldest after the Westin. The headquarters for Sheraton hotels is located in White Plains, New
York, but was founded in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1937. Ernest Henderson and Robert
Moore adapted to the name Sheraton Hotel after acquiring an earlier hotel with that same name.
According to them, their was a large lit sign on the roof that bore this name, but it was too heavy
to move and too expensive to change and so from there on they decided to call all future hotels,
Sheraton. By 1939, three hotels had been established by Henderson and Moore and more wore
opening up on the east coast at a rapid past. In 1945, the Sheraton hotel chain... Show more content

Also, in order to stay connected there are personal computers in the Smart Rooms with High
Speed Internet Access. After a long day working or sightseeing it is also nice to come back and

anyone, especially when soft duvets, crisp cotton sheets, and down pillows of the Sheraton Sweet
Sleeper Bed are provided. Here at the Sheraton Shanghai Hongqiao Hotel it is easy to enjoy all the
comforts of home. In regards to my observations on the company s structure observed and
experienced, I have noticed many factors inherent to Chinese business, much different than those in
the United States. Noticeably, there is clearly a hierarchy in order. Everyone reports to their own
manager and that manager reports to their manager and so on until they reach the general manager.
For example, there was this one incident where one guest wanted his old room rate, but was soon
informed that he had to make prior arrangements in order to receive it again. Unfortunately, since he
did not make prior arrangements this time the guest became very angry and started yelling at the
front desk staff.

What Is The Meaning Of Hassan s Redemption Song
Every man got the right to decide his own destiny. A legendary reggae musician and singer, Bob
Marley, once wrote in his song called, Redemption Song , this song shows that one s fate can only
be decided by self choice. Bob Marley wrote and published this song just before his death at age 36,
from cancer. Bob Marleywrote this song almost as a departure, knowing that the end was near. This
song represents his attempts at redemption towards his past. A loss within, forces redemption to
come into play, to gain back what was lost in the beginning. This holds true for the Cleveland
Cavaliers. The Cleveland Cavaliers thought they had it all, but in the end, they lost to the Golden
State Warriors in the NBA Finals. Now, the Cavaliers

Amir struggles while attempting to redeem himself when he is faced with trouble. Amir goes
back to Afghanistan to get Hassan s son, Sohrab and is faced with obstacles along the way, such
as Talibans, old memories, and the one and only, Assef. Farid and Amir go to a soccer game to
Ghazi Stadium to find who the will be meeting with, when they are faced with a brutal and
disturbing halftime show . The Talibans brought in people who had disobeyed the their laws and
conditions, and pelted them with stones until they were killed in front of all the fans in the
stadium. Brutality is shown when John Lennon is firing the stones at the victims, The Talib,
looking absurdly like a baseball pitcher on the mound, hurled the stone at the blindfolded man in
the hole. It struck the side of his head. The women screamed again (Hosseini 271). The horrid
scene shows the things that Amir had to risk going through while in Afghanistan to redeem
himself and rescue the boy. The Talibans were ruthless and nearly impossible to avoid. After the
show, the head Talib agrees on a three o clock meeting time for discussion. Amir arrives to the
meeting point to retrieve Sohrab and is confronted with the new leader of Kabul and head of the
Talibans, the man happens to be the old bully of Kabul, Assef. Assef tells Amir that he will not
give Sohrab to him for free, but he will have to fight for the child and his own life. Throught the

Speech On Good Seed Is Wasted
Good seed is wasted when planted in the midst of weeds, and good thoughts are wasted in a
consciousness of need, or greed. This is why it is so important to prepare the soil (soul), before
sowing the seed (of thought). Yet, amazingly, when people get no results from their prayers, they
pray all the more! When desperate, even the devout ignore what Jesus taught about prayer: But
when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard
for their much speaking. [Mt. 6:7] Repetitious prayers, such as the repetition of affirmations, and
chanting, or going through the steps of a ritual, may change one s conscious state, however, they
are ill suited to changing one s consciousness. Planting seeds does not uproot weeds; and, affirming
universal Truths never enlightened the mindof one who thinks the worst about himself or others.
Effective prayer requires the expression of one s consciousness, not the contradiction of it. Making
statements that do not express, but, instead, contradict one s consciousness is hypocrisy. Jesus
recommended that, before we pray at the altar, we first make peace with our brother. He also
recommended the practice of forgiveness, fasting, non judgment, repentance, and giving freely.
Praying prior to preparing our soul is like sowing seeds before cultivating the soil; both are
ineffective. We cannot afford to pray in vain: thinking we re doing something and yet
accomplishing nothing. When we pray in a way

Critically assess the view that a concept of miracles is...
Critically assess the view that a concept of miracles is inconsistent with a belief in a benevolent
God. (35 marks)
Before one is able to debate the ideas of inconsistency surrounding miracles, we must define and
clarify what a miracle actually is. One definition is an event caused by God, this view is
traditionally supported by Christians and philosophers such as Aquinas. A second definition is a
violation of the laws of nature which is most commonly associated with David Hume. These two
definitions usually underlie the way in which people approach the question of God acting in the
world, thus impacting ones interpretation of miracles showing a benevolent God. Benevolence is
used to describe God being a good and loving God. Many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although this could have been down to a mis diagnoses which distorted the idea of a miracle
occurring. Overall, the inconsistencies with miracles present a biased God. Why would a
benevolent God only perform to people who visit Lourdes and not non believers ? Overall this
shows God to not be benevolent because the miracles he performs are inconsistent and biased.
Keith Ward stated that God is purposely inconsistent with miracles, and does not act within the
world often so he does not undermine our free will, thus presenting a transcendent God. In his
book Divine Action he stated that if God helps person X rather than person Y , it may be
because person X has a more potentially important role in the working out of the divine purpose
then person Y . Therefore God s inconsistency is deliberate and his actions are beyond our human
understanding. This supports the concept of God being benevolent as he performs miracles for
the greater good of the people, he can t save everyone, as this would undermine the significance
of miracles, however he does intervene when it will make a large impact in the bigger picture.
However, Hawkins stated that a good theory is one that is straight forward. Ward presents his
argument based on a lot of assumptions. As Gods actions and purpose in the world is beyond our
understanding, it is impossible for us to understand the significance and purpose of miracles. It is
impossible for us to know what God s plan is. Who are we to

Similarities Between Wakeboarding And Snowboarding
Whether gliding through once calm water, or shredding down powdery slopes, being on either one
of these boards is a rush of extreme adrenaline. Wakeboarding and snowboarding both result in
many similarities including aspect and motion. But each of these sports has entirely different
aspects as well; including, surface terrains, locations, weather, and even clothing. No matter the
differences and or similarities of both snowboardingand wakeboarding, they each share a rider with
the longing and passion to strive at being the best they can be performing these sports.
The most significant difference between wakeboarding and snowboarding is the surface terrain.
This factor helps determine which types of tricks preformed and equipment is needed for the two
sports. Snowboarding, of course, takes place on snowy hill tops, giving the rider the ability to
glide down the icy terrain. Snowboarding is the best on packed snow, which means that it must
remain cold enough for snow to stay on the ground for long periods of time. The most preferred
riding time is when there are near freezing temperatures right after a snowfall. Wakeboarding takes

In order for the rider to float on top of the water instead of being on the bottom of the lake, the
board has to be shorter, wider, slightly thicker, and include fins on the bottom, making it easier to
cut through the water. Also on most wakeboards, the boots and bindings are already attached to
the board. Snowboards look more like skateboards with a narrow longer shape. They are thin with
a smooth bottom making it easier for the rider to glide over the snow without sinking it.
Snowboards have two bindings that are already attached onto the board, and the rider is already
wearing the separate boots. When ready to ride, the rider straps the boots into the bindings before

Disruptive Students Place In Alternative Schools
School can become tedious. Everyone can agree with that, yet students know they must endure the
long days and heavy workloads to further their education and stay out of trouble. Those who refuse
to behave have no concept of the consequences of their disorderly actions. These students
continually disrupt classrooms and prohibit others from receiving a full education. In addition to
being a distraction, they can also pose a threat to the safety of their classmates. Alternative schools
are a logical solution. These correctional facilities are beneficial to not only the delinquent but also
to the community because they help to produce a productive member of society. Disruptive
students should be placed in alternative schools because it will allow... Show more content on

For reasons unknown, some students simply cannot or choose not to behave during class. Caroleo
opens her article, An Examination of the Risks and Benefits of Alternative Education , with the
claim, One size education does not fit for all children and youth (35). It is true that blanket
instruction does not work for most at risk students. A specialized educational setting results in an
increase in supervision and guidance. Specialized settings lower the possibility of frequent
outbursts; therefore, placement into a smaller class would benefit the disruptive student. In most
alternative classrooms, the student teacher ratio is low. In a local alternative school hosted by New
Brockton High School, the class roster rarely reaches above ten students. Smaller settings allow
teachers the chance to minimize down time and focus on individuals. Increased one on one time
allows students to find more productive outlets for their excess energy. In addition to being
beneficial for the troublesome student, alternative schooling would allow other members of the
class a productive environment in which to learn. Students outbursts are detrimental to not only the
other students education but also the education of the delinquent as well. Placement into an
alternative school will allow typical students to attend class uninterrupted and encourage the cause
of distraction to focus on continuing their education. If the disruptive student is removed from the
classroom, then it is likely that all students grades will flourish accordingly in the now positive

In Christianity, we burn frankincense during special celebrations using the smoke as a form of
cleansing and sanctifying. Frankincense was one of the three gifts given to Jesus by the wise
men at the time of his birth. Frankincense is sacred because when it is used the aroma calls us to
prayer and as the smoke rises, so does our prayers to our Father in Heaven. Similarly in Aboriginal
Spirituality, sweetgrass is also burned and its smoke is used for purification. Considered the most
sacred of plants, the smoke of the burning grass has the ability to cleanse and bless the body, mind,
spirit and heart altogether. Both frankincense and sweetgrass come from plants being both natural
and pure. Frankincense is burned in a thurible and a minister

Comparison Between Alexander Ii and Iii Essay
COMPARATIVE ESSAY BETWEEN ALEXANDER II AND III
Tsar Alexander II and III while father and son had very different ambitions as Tsar and different
view for the future of the empire. Alexander III succeeded to his father s throne in 1894. His
reign is looked upon by most historians as a time of repression that saw the undoing of many of
the reforms carried out by his father. Certainly that was a time of great economic and social change
but these had led, in the West of the nation, great pressure on political system. However Alexander
was deeply suspicious of the direction in which his father had taken Russia and the internal reforms
that he instituted were designed to correct what he saw as the too liberal tendencies of his father s
reign. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact in 1859 there were in Russia 23 millions of serfs. Alexander made up his mind to abolish
it from above before that it would be done from below, through revolution. In 1861 serfdom was
emancipated and this was the most important event in 19th century of Russian history. On the
other way Alexander III after his father s dead regarding the serfdom s reforms decided to reduce
the peasant representation in zemstva and the peasant representatives were appointed and no
longer elected. Also the Peasant Land Bank was created to buy land from the lords and all the
children from the lower class were banned from secondary education. The Tsar, by a new statute in
1890, gave to the provincial governors supervision over the correctness and legality of zemstvo
institutions . The reforms of the government are connected to the abolition of the serfdom. Russia
was an under governed society, having many fewer civil servants than Britain. It was essential
that local people, therefore, filled administrative roles. In 1864 Tsar Alexander II introduced new
bodies in Russia, called zemstva. Zemstva were local governments located in outside city areas
and the people who ran them were elected by the people from the village. The Tsar gave them
power for make small reforms because he wanted to maintain his autocratic rule everywhere. The

Future Of Life Edward O Wilson Analysis
In the book, Future Of Life (2002), Edward O. Wilson, satirizes and jokes about how childish and
unsophisticated arguments are such as those between the People First Critics and Environmentalist.
The results of this book is to showcase how these arguments lead to nowhere and Wilson presents
this information by satirically mocking both sides of the argument with exaggeration, sarcasm and
hyperboles. On line one, the very beginning of the passage, Wilson states by calling the
Environmentalists, Conservationists which is almost identical to when an individual brags about
themself in a cocky manner. When a person is prideful, overconfident and arrogant they create a
superiority complex which makes them feel better than others. In those scenarios, they don t even
argue with others and just believe that they are always right, making them close minded to other
opinions and ideas. This cockiness that Wilson mocks from the People First Critics point of view
shows the reader that Environmentalists think they are perfect and there is no possible way that
their ideals are flawed, which makes it a useless argument because both sides are arguing with no
end in sight. This cockiness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

An Hour Tone
The short story The Story of an Hour is written by Kate Chopin. This story is about a married
woman named, Louise Mallard, who learns about her husband s death, and through the poem she
discovers the positives of this incident. She gradually learns the restrictions that have been lifted
and the new opportunities that arise due to her husband s death, however, the story ends by her
getting a heart attack when she sees her husband still alive, the story throughout is written in third
person point of view. Furthermore, Chopin believes that marriagecan be very restrictive on woman
because of the dominant role the male plays in the relationship and this is shown through the tone
and literary features of the poem.
First, the tone of the poem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The metaphor in the quote storm of grief , presents a sorrowful tone because it displays the
tragedy and misery she experiences due to her husbands passing, however this tone lasts only
for a small part in the beginning in the story and soon changes into a tone of elation.
Furthermore, the symbolism in the line blue sky showing here and there through the clouds [...]
shows the hopeful tone as it conveys how the blue sky begins to emerge from the darkness of
the clouds. The clouds are used to symbolise the husband s death and how the grieve she
experiences due to this incident begins to vanish as the sky clears up. This symbolises the hope
that Mallard begins to attain, and this device is used to hint at the increased opportunities and
benefits she will gain by being alone and gaining independence. Moreover, the realistic tone is
later presented at the end of the story. The dramatic irony in the line of the joy that kills is a
powerful indicator that shows restrictions that are placed on woman. This line is ironic because the
readers know that she did not die because of the joy when she saw her husband but in fact the shock
and disappointment

The Sacred Language of Toni Morrison Essay
The Sacred Language of Toni Morrison
Toni Morrison makes a good point when, in her acceptance speech upon receiving the Nobel
Prize in Literature, she says, Narrative . . . is . . . one of the principal ways in which we absorb
knowledge (7). The words we use and the way in which we use them is how we, as humans,
communicate to each other our thoughts, feelings, and actions and therefore our knowledge of the
world and its peoples. Knowledge is power. In this way, our language, too, is powerful.
In her acceptance speech, Morrison tries to communicate the idea that we must be careful with how
we use our words. She analogizes the use of language to the life of a metaphoric bird in a tale of a
wise, old, blind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout her speech, Toni Morrison works towards defining and supporting this thesis of
responsibility. It is our responsibility, as users of words, to make language thrive. Elizabeth Fox
Genovese has a similar goal, but takes a different approach in her essay The Claims of a Common
Culture: Gender, Race, Class and the Canon. She speaks on the use and composition of the canon
taught in humanities classes. Her idea is that the canon of today is much too one sided and does
not include the influence of the several different cultures, peoples, and ideas that make up our
society. She says that with respect to representativeness, the canon fails woefully. It represent[s] a
small, sometimes minute, portion of the elite, which itself constitute[s] a statistical minority of the
population (Fox Genovese 19). In this abstract way, Fox Genovese is reiterating Morrison s words
that what we say, and how we say it (or teach it), or what we fail to say (as in the canon taught
today) is monumentally influencing and impactful upon others.
If we are not aware of the words that come out of our mouths due to lack of thought or attention,
we all suffer and we are all at fault: When language dies, out of carelessness, disuse, indifference,
and absence of esteem, or killed by fiat, . . . all users and makers are accountable for its demise
(Morrison 14 15). The standards of society are changing and with them the

Compages And Disadvantages Of Costing Systems
Costing Systems
The costing systems aid companies in determining the cost of a product in relation to the revenue
the product generates. The costing systems commonly used in businesses include activity based
costing and traditional costing. Traditional costing system assigns the manufacturing overhead
based on the capacity of a cost driver. For example, the amount of direct working hours required to
produce a particular item. Cost drivers are factors that cause cost to incur, like machine hours, direct
material hours, and direct labor hours. Activity based costing system allocates cost of manufacturing
a product in accordance to the activities required to produce the particular item. It s therefore
essential for managers to understand the merits ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in a banking context, the activity of a bank teller is ascribed to each item through
measuring how long each item transaction (cost driver) takes at a counter and them measuring the
number of each form of transaction. In a machinery context for the activity of running machinery,
the driver is often the machine operating hours i.e. machine operating hour s maintenance, power
cost in the running of machinery and labor cost activities.
ABC systems use activities as the main cost objects. The system works on the notion that activities
cause costs, and cost objects create demand for activities. The system is flexible as it relates costs
to customers, management responsibility and processor and not just the products. ABC system
applies activities as the basic cost objects while using the costs of such activities as the building
blocks for compiling costs of other cost objects.

The Author known as, Scott Fitzgerald is considered a notable writer in the Jazz Age time
period for his novels, short stories such as The Great Gatsby. Throughout the life of Scott
Fitzgerald his works have proven to be of high merit that have impacted the world of literature In
1898 at Saint Paul, Minnesota, born into a middle upper class family, Fitzgerald was named after
his famous second cousin Francis Scott Key but he finally went by the familiar name Scott
Fitzgerald. Also he was named after his late sister, Louise Scott, one of two sisters who died

At the university he strongly dedicated himself to enhancing his skill as a writer. There he
became friends with future critics and writers Edmund Wilson and John Peale Bishop, and

involved in the American Whig Cliosophic Society, which ran the Nassau Lit. His attraction in
the Triangle led to his offer of a novel to Charles Scribner s Sons where the editor admired the
writing but ultimately rejected the book. He was a member of the University Cottage Club,
which still displays Fitzgerald s desk and writing materials in its library. His writing pursuits at
Princeton came at the cost of his assignments. He was placed on academic probation, and in 1917
he dropped out of school to join the U.S. Army. Afraid that he might die in World War I with his
literary dreams unsatisfied, weeks before reporting for duty Fitzgerald quickly wrote a novel called
The Romantic Egotist . Although the publisher Charles Scribner s Sons rejected the novel, the
reviewer noted its originality and encouraged Fitzgerald to submit more work in the future. But

Music Education At A Young Age
Today, school districts have been devaluing the importance of music. School districts are forced to
cut spending on music education and replace it with other important classes, such as physical
education. Music classes were the first to be cut because given a small to budget elementary
schools, school officials have seen that music classes were unnecessary to educationand believe that
it has no benefit. I disagree with this statement because I believe it is crucial to have music
educationat a young age. Luckily, when I was in elementary school, there was still music education
and has influenced me to become a musician because music has helped me with school and work.
Having music education allows a child s brainto develop a fully active brain, since music functions
the creative side of the brain. However, studies have shown that music has helped with the left
side of the brain as well, allowing students to build thinking skills and raise test scores such as the
SAT. Music training at a young age helps develop the brain areas that involves language and
reasoning. Studies have shown that music training develops the left side of the brain, which helps
processing language and help recognize patterns and memorization. It is also shown that the left
side of the brain is better developed with music and that can help retain new information in young
minds. A good example of how music helps with new information is the alphabet. The alphabet was

To begin with, the investigation will be made in this research to know about the product which

Though they have been well maintained their relationship with their consumer, apple has seen some
issues with their products in consumer circle after the release of those product in which the
consumer find some problems such as antenna performance in apple i phone 4.
Performance quality:
Most of the products are established at one of four performance levels: low, average, high, or
superior. Performance quality is the level at which the products primary characteristics operate.
Quality is becoming an increasingly important dimension for differentiation as companies adopt a
value model and provide higher quality for less money (p.kotler, et al, 2009). Apple has
established their products in high and superior levels and their quality performance has been
operated in the high level of products. The quality of apple products has been differentiated with
their every single model production; their manufacturer has made the design to match up to the
needs of consumers and to competing the performance level. This strategy of apple has seen in i

The Conservation Of Yellowstone Wildlife Essay
Conservation: Yellowstone is extraordinarily large, with 290 waterfalls, 17 rivers and acreage
spanning across portions of three states. According to Yellowstone Superintendent Dan Wenk, his
park is at the heart of the largest intact ecosystem in the temperate zone in the United States, if not
the world (interview). It s called the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) and within its borders
lay two national parks (Grand Teton and Yellowstone), four national wildlife refuges, and seven
national forests. This important biological reserve is the largest protected area in the lower 48
states and provides critical habitat for some of the world s most iconic wildlife. Unfortunately,
many plant and animal species today face endangerment, mainly because their natural habitats are
being destroyed. National parks work to conserve wildlife by safeguarding these habitats that
provide a safe space for wildlife to breed and survive. The bison are an emblem of the wildness of
the West and a Yellowstone icon. A struggling population that was almost extinct at the turn of the
century has been successfully recovered. More than 5500 bison now live inside and in areas
surrounding Yellowstone park (interview). This park contains the largest concentration of mammals
in the lower 48 (interview). In addition to bison, those inhabitants include wolves, lynxes, grizzly
bears, foxes, elk and moose (https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/lifestyle/national parks/).

Noah: Genesis 6:12 22 Sadly, the Bible reports that nearly all of Adam s descendents had
corrupted their way upon the earth and lost their true direction (Gen. 6:12 Amplified Bible), and,
as a result of this intolerable situation, God told Noah that He had determined to make an end of
all flesh [as well as] destroy ... the land ... by [bringing] a flood of waters upon the earth (Gen.
6:13, 17). After the Holy Creator had uttered this apocalyptic intent, He proceeded to provide
Noah with instructions on how he was to build an ark, which included information on a list of
vital materials (Gen. 6:14), some details on the manner they were to be used (Gen. 6:14), basic
blueprints of its structure (Gen. 6:14, 16), and, what measurements the floating vehicle was to
have when it was completed, which Scriptures report was to be 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide,
and 30 cubits high (Gen. 6:15). In order for Noah to be obedient to His Heavenly Father s plan
however, he must have not only known where to get the building supplies that he had need of, as
well as, been quite deft in knowing how to use them, he also had to have the knowledge of the
ratio scale of measurement so he could perform the task. Though it is evident that Noah was
cognizance of other scales of measures, he choose this particular one because it was the only one

This situation challenges counselors to struggle continuously with how to serve our clients most
efficiently (Mireau Inch, 2009). Wait list have been found to disparaging for clients. Mireau et al.
concluded that clients on wait lists experience more problems and experience lower motivation
and poorer outcomes as the waiting period lengthens. Brief solution focused counseling has
proven to that client with very short wait prior to their first appointments are more likely to show
up for their first appointments and are more likely to complete treatment (Mireau Inch, 2009). The
research has shown that counselors who use this method make a conscious use of their time by
engaging the client quickly and keeping the client focused on goals and priorities (Mireau Inch,
2009). There are some drawbacks to BSFC; this method is not a style for beginning counselors
(Mireau Inch, 2009). BSFC relies heavily on the art and intuition of the experienced clinician

eclectic knowledge of and comfort in a variety of other counseling styles to meet the needs of the
client (Mireau Inch, 2009). Another technique used by

Security of the Political and Social Position of the Nobility in Early Modern Europe
The nobility of early modern Europe were descended on the whole from the mounted knights of
medieval armies who had been granted land along with social and political privileges and had
subsequently formed a higher social class. Between 1500 1789 the status of the aristocracy came
under threat both politically and socially. The rise of absolutism within the monarchies of Europe
led to the desire of governments to reduce noble power and bypass several of their privileges in
order to increase state revenue and centralise governmental control. The growth of the middle
classes and the destruction of the feudal system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thirdly the nobility experienced a crisis of identity and a loss of purpose as their status decreased
and there was a general relaxation of reverence [3].
The exercise of arms had been an intrinsic element in proving a noble s worth but after 1500
letters were often disassociated from arms and proved a far more certain road to wealth and
nobility that the life of the warrior [4] and an education became as important as military prowess
had been previously. This is another example of the nobility being forced to adapt to the social
pressures of the period. As the middle classes grew they forced the nobility to change its outlook
and modernise to keep up with the rest of society or become diminished and backwards.
Educational standards also enabled the nobles to be judged by the universal standards of
achievement rather than birth [5]. This demonstrates the changing attitudes of the lower classes as
they began to require justification of the nobility s high status.
The nobility s high social position was confirmed by their privileges, which firmly distinguished
noble from commoner [6]. These included fiscal advantages, such as being exempt from taxation,
judicial privileges, their exclusion from menial work within state service, their political

Bibliiography Regarding Economy Topics
Aidoo, Richard
2009 Review of The Trouble with Aid: Why Less Could Mean More for Africa, and: The Trouble
with Africa: Why Foreign Aid Isn t Working. Africa Today 56(2): 97 101
Aidoo expands on Jon Glennie s scope of the discussion regarding aid implementation in Africa.
He takes into account other prevalent work and analyzes the debate as a whole. The issue, on
which people readily take sides, he contends is often too simplistically portrayed, often leading to
poor solutions, typically in the form of more aid. Aidoo s critique of Glennie, who embraces aid
reduction policies, calls Glennie s stance intellectually merited, but fails to move beyond an
academic concept.

DBBDG shows the problems that those who intervene undergo when venturing into humanitarian
efforts. The bureaucratic incentive structure of aid organizations and unintended consequences that
stem from their actions often end up doing more harm than good. Coyne s analysis uses economic
principle to form his case for using caution when considering humanitarian intervention. Those who
intervene lack understanding of how the many variables associated with intervention will interact
and how the bureaucratic incentive structure lacks the feedback mechanisms necessary for truly
learning from mistakes. Coyne goes on to show how the different incentives of the bureaucracy will
often clash with each other and with the end goal of

Paradise Lost Short Story Analysis
In Paradise Lost, author Terry Hekker contrasts her new life, as a housewife, with what she had
experienced 30 years earlier. In this article, Hekker depicts her personal experience of being a
full time working mother and how much it hurt when when she was divorced after 40 elongated
years of marriage. It was mortifying for her to cope with the loneliness she felt after their divorce
and, unfortunately she was forced to reestablish herself back from scratch. Defending her point,
Terry admits her sorrow/frustration stating, I wasn t advocating that mothers forgo careers to stay
home with their children; I was simply defending my choice as a valid one.ВЁ (Hecker 38, p5)
Hekker has a strong opinion on the matter of being a housewifeUnlike Satisfactions of Housewifery
and Motherhood , where Hekker stated how she enjoyed her role as a stay at home mom, Paradise
Lost is written differently to advise mothers/current housewivesto have a backup plan and a strong
education base behind their occupation of Housewifery. By alluding to her past (The Satisfactions
of Housewifery and Motherhood) and through the use of her degrading and defensive language,
Hekker advises women and other housewives to be prepared for anything to happen to themselves
in a marriage.
Hekker s enthusiasm on the topic of Housewifery shifted completely as her life took a dramatic
shift; on her 40th wedding anniversary her husband filed for divorce. She writes, so i was

Watch Me Move
The show Watch Me Move spoke about the history behind the dances and how dance has
progressed through the years. Throughout the show there were prominent dances such as the
Charleston, Cakewalk, and the Lindy Hop. There are very distinguished people such as James
Brown, Gladys Knight and the Pips, The Supremes, Michael Jackson and Prince along with many
more. This gave me a more insightful look on what happened through the history and how the
evolution of music and dances had cycled through. It is easy to say that the majority of the dances
that evolved into something else were originated by the African Americans and their communities.
While watching I couldn t help but connecting that music has more effects on people s lives other

Through the different dances there has been a style change with how the dancers move within the
dance. As time goes on there appeared to be less and lesser clothing on the dancers. I have seen
first hand how dance styles changed through my life. The changes between what music is popular
and how to dance to the song. Throughout being taught at dance school, there were variations of
provocatively that certain dance styles would partake in. Jazz dance and hip hop were seen to be
more of the risquГ© dance forms that the costumes showed more skin. Is the changing of dance
costumes being influenced by what we see on music videos? Is it related to the stripper culture
we ve spoken about in class? Some of the changes have been drastic with the costumes or the
choice of dance moves, but some are very subtle such as liturgical or modern dances that have had
much of a change in the culture of the dance. This show glorifies how dancing can be made into
whatever the dancer wants it to be. I found this movie beneficial because it let me think more
intimately with my paper topic about clogging. There probably are connections between the
spreading of the cakewalk that has or had influenced the emergence of clogging or buckhucking/flat

Violence as an Expression of Free Will in A Clockwork Orange
This essay will deal with the subject of free choice, which is the main topic of the novel, A
Clockwork Orange . This significant problem is already indicated in the very first line of the
text when an unknown voice asks Alex and certainly by that the reader What s it going to be
then, eh ? (13). Being repeated at the beginning of the second part and at the beginning of the
very last chapter of the third part this question sets up the thematic frame of the book. It asks the
protagonist what he is going to chose, good or evil. Likewise it addresses to the reader to consider
his own choice, too (14).
Anthony Burgess is intensely committed to this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A similar method of characterization is applied to Alex antagonist, the free thinker F. Alexander.
Though he is generally a charming person, fighting against the nasty government, he changes into a
furious, revengeful old man as he finally recognizes Alex.
With this kind of characterization Burgess takes away over plus sympathy for F. Alexander and
unmasks him as a traitor of his own ideals .Mr. Alexander s complacent and blasГ© style of
writing makes his ambitions somehow suspect (16). So does his behaviour as he recognizes Alex.
He promptly seems to forget his charity for mankind and the victims of supreme power (17).
As we now know that Alex and F. Alexander are the principal heterogeneous pairing of the novel,
we see that they hold different ethical and moral attitudes. Yet it is impossible to divide them up
into good and evil. Both of them carry features of a benefactor, respectively a malefactor. Thereby
the story achieves authenticity as the characters correspond closer to real human nature.
Besides, this character constellation expresses the general relation of good and evil in the world
and our possibility to make a choice between them.
This is demonstrated by the similar names of

Conflict Of Self In John Calvin, The Accusative Case
John Calvin s Conflict of Self
John Calvin, the Accusative Case as he was called by friends, was known for being a stern and
humorless theologian and in truth he was, but there was more to him than just that. Throughout his
career, he was staunch in the belief of predetermination above all other thought. Unlike Luther,
Calvin had not begun life with the mindset of being a preacher, but he arguably had just as much, if
not more of an impact as a reformer. More humanist than previous reformers, but not truly that
either, Calvin existed in a state of conflict. Calvin was educated as a French Humanist with a less
than humanist view of predestination that culminated in an influential, but unfulfilled life.
Calvin had a different beginning to that of most reformists, which lent him a unique perspective.
According to Calvin his father had destined me for the study of theology. But afterwards, when he
considered that the legal profession commonly raised those who followed it to wealth , but in truth
he could not initially join the church due to the very same father embezzling money. Whether this
original desire left Calvin with a sense of unfulfilled destiny is uncertain, ... Show more content on

Seize The Day Character Analysis
In Bellow s novella, Seize the Day , Wilhelm Adler, the main character, goes through a period in
his life in which he feels he doesn t belong anywhere, and can t relate to anyone. He has a huge
list of problems that he has to deal with on a daily basis, which includes his recent divorce, his
lack of ambition to find a job or do something with his life, his dependence on his father for
monetary reasons, and the big amount of mistakes he s done in his life, which led to the crisis
he s into. He is called and calls himself many names, which symbolize, in a way, how lost he feels
within himself and his own life. The aim of this essay is to analyze each of those names, and see
how they affect Wilhelm s view of himself and his actions. Firstly, his real name, Wilhelm Adler, is

His father behaved toward his son as he had formerly done with his patients (Bellow, 11), or, at
least, this was the case from Wilhelm s point of view. His father doesn t want to help him solve

between how Dr Adler communicates with his son and the way in which he talks about
Wilhelm to other people. He cares a lot about keeping his reputation intact, and a son with no
career or future would make his friends and people he knows think less of him. This makes
Wilhelm feel like an object, as Bellow shows when he writes It s Dad, thought Wilhelm, who is
the salesman. He s selling me. (13) Dr Adler doesn t exactly lie to the people he talks about
Wilhelm to, but he doesn t tell the truth either. For example, he talks about business that Wilhelm
has been a part of as if these were happening right now, instead of ten or twenty years ago. He
makes excuses as to why his son left school, instead of accepting the truth of his lack of

Why I Want To Pass The Good Samaritan Law
Why do people not want to help others that are in need? There are several people that would
rather watch the person that is in need continue suffering rather than calling for help. In the
United States, there is not a law saying that it is illegal for a person not to assist another that is in
need. Would you help that person if it was your mom, dad, brother, etc.? The answer is most
likely yes, you would try to do anything it took to save them no matter their condition. The Good
Samaritan law would make it where if a person is in needof assistance then you are required to help

As much as I d like to encourage compassion and community, I think it is too late to legislate such
morality (Sjdedsma 336). With everything going on in the world today, you have to look at the
repercussions. Consequences could happen to you that you never saw coming because all you
thought you were doing was going to the aid of someone. You could be driving down the
highway and drive upon a car crash, you then stop your car and run to see what you could do.
When you get closer you see smoke coming from the engine, possibly about to explode so you
see if there are any passengers. You spot a woman asking you to pull her out of the car, pulling
her out of the car you realize she might be paralyzed. By the time the paramedics get there she s
already been telling you she s suing you for making her paralyzed. In reality, along she was just
being a good deed and helping the woman get safely out of the car. A non duty can become an
affirmative duty after a person chooses to intervene (Sjdedsma 337). People could not want to pass

Application And Evaluation Model For The Software Product...
The ISO9126 is a specification and evaluation model for the software product quality
cite{idri2013use}. Due to the limitations of mobile environments (such as energy autonomy
constraints, limited storage capacity, variable bandwidth, hardware heterogeneities, etc), this
quality system is not well suitable to be entirely applied to these types of environments. Therefore,
further analysis is needed in order to identify which aspects from this standard are applicable to
mobile environments. Such analysis was done by Idri et al cite{idri2013use} in which they created
a framework for identifying the quality characteristics shown in ISO 9126that may be impacted by
the limitations in the mobile domain.

The effectiveness of an organization s performance and reward management can have a major
impact not only on morale and productivity but also its ability to attract and retain staff. Many
companies have found that far from complementing the stated aims of the business, their
performance and reward systems were actually driving counter productive behavior. Motivation and
Reward System Management Employee motivation is the psychological feature that arouses an
employee to behave in a certain manner for accomplishing certain organizational goals. It is
imperative for the organization to enhance motivation level of the employees in order to bring out
the best in them. The motivation level of the sales force must be kept high in order that the sales
force efficiently realizes the sales goals. Reward system management is the framework that

Fungi Are Fungi Different From Plants
Fungi are a group of living organisms which are classified in their own kingdom. This means
they are not animals, plants, or bacteria. Unlike bacteria, which have simple prokaryotic cells,
fungi have complex eukaryotic cells like animals and plants. Fungi are found throughout the
Earth including on land, in the water, in the air, and even in plants and animals. They vary
widely in size from microscopically small to the largest organisms on Earth at several square
miles large. There are more than 100,000 different identified species of fungi. How are fungi
different from plants? Fungi were once classified as plants. However, they are different from
plants in two important ways: 1) fungi cell walls are composed of chitin rather than cellulose
(plants) and 2) fungi do not make their own food like plants do through photosynthesis.
Characteristics of Fungi They are eukaryotic. They get their food by decomposing matter or
eating off their hosts as parasites. They do not possess chlorophyll like plants. They reproduce
through numerous spores rather than pollen, fruit, or seeds. They are usually not motile, meaning
they cannot actively move around. Roles of Fungi Food Many fungi are used as food such as
mushrooms and truffles. Yeast, a type of fungi, is used when baking bread to help it rise and to
ferment beverages. Decomposition Fungi play an important role in the decomposition of organic
matter. This decomposition is necessary for many of the cycles of life such as the

Paris Bordone During The Italian Renaissance
During the Italian Renaissance, societal changes allowed for the introduction of high class pieces of
artwork into the elite community. Artists such as Michelangelo, and Botticelli flourished during
this era, creating masterpieces that continue to relevant in this day, and age. One such painter, Paris
Bordone played a very influential role in the renaissanceand produced numerous works such as
Annunciation, the Baptism of Christ, Bathsheba Bathing, with an African Servant, Chess Player,
and A Portrait of a Lady. Born on July 5th, 1500, Bordone lived in Treviso before moving to Venice
in his late adolescence. He applied for a brief apprenticeship with Renaissance giant Titian, and
branched out as a painter by the 1520 s. There he began his career painting biblical portraits in Italy.
Somewhere between 1534 1535, Bordone first gained recognition as an maestro for painting a
canvas of the The Fisherman Presenting the Ring to Doge Gradenigo. This boosted his career,
but also showcased his limitations as his usage of perspective in his painting created dwarfed
backgrounds. However, this didn t detract his fame as he became a famous name in Venetian
cultural achievement. Bordone use of Mannerism lead to his crowning achievement, the Portrait
of Giovanni Jacopo Caraglio in 1552. This piece of art embodies the four ideals of the Renaissance,
as well as providing a critic of society. The Portrait of Giovanni Jacopo Caraglio was fabricated for
master goldsmith Giovanni Jacopo

  • 2. The Second Oldest After The Westin The Sheraton name is a long standing brand under Starwood hotels and is currently the second oldest after the Westin. The headquarters for Sheraton hotels is located in White Plains, New York, but was founded in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1937. Ernest Henderson and Robert Moore adapted to the name Sheraton Hotel after acquiring an earlier hotel with that same name. According to them, their was a large lit sign on the roof that bore this name, but it was too heavy to move and too expensive to change and so from there on they decided to call all future hotels, Sheraton. For example, there was this one incident where one guest wanted his old room rate, but was soon informed that he had to make prior arrangements in order to receive it again. A legendary reggae musician and singer, Bob Marley, once wrote in his song called, Redemption Song , this song shows that one s fate can only be decided by self choice. Bob Marley wrote and published this song just before his death at age 36, from cancer. Bob Marleywrote this song almost as a departure, knowing that the end was near. This song represents his attempts at redemption towards his past. A loss within, forces redemption to come into play, to gain back what was lost in the beginning. This holds true for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cleveland Cavaliers thought they had it all, but in the end, they lost to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. Now, the Cavaliers ... Farid and Amir go to a soccer game to Ghazi Stadium to find who the will be meeting with, when they are faced with a brutal and disturbing halftime show . The Talibans brought in people who had disobeyed the their laws and conditions, and pelted them with stones until they were killed in front of all the fans in the stadium. Brutality is shown when John Lennon is firing the stones at the victims, The Talib, looking absurdly like a baseball pitcher on the mound, hurled the stone at the blindfolded man in the hole. It struck the side of his head. The women screamed again (Hosseini 271). • 4. Speech On Good Seed Is Wasted Good seed is wasted when planted in the midst of weeds, and good thoughts are wasted in a consciousness of need, or greed. This is why it is so important to prepare the soil (soul), before sowing the seed (of thought). Yet, amazingly, when people get no results from their prayers, they pray all the more! When desperate, even the devout ignore what Jesus taught about prayer: But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. [Mt. 6:7] Repetitious prayers, such as the repetition of affirmations, and chanting, or going through the steps of a ritual, may change one s conscious state, however, they are ill suited to changing one s consciousness. Planting seeds does not uproot weeds; and, affirming universal Truths never enlightened the mindof one who thinks the worst about himself or others. Effective prayer requires the expression of one s consciousness, not the contradiction of it. Making statements that do not express, but, instead, contradict one s consciousness is hypocrisy. Jesus recommended that, before we pray at the altar, we first make peace with our brother. He also recommended the practice of forgiveness, fasting, non judgment, repentance, and giving freely. Praying prior to preparing our soul is like sowing seeds before cultivating the soil; both are ineffective. We cannot afford to pray in vain: thinking we re doing something and yet accomplishing nothing. When we pray in a way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(35 marks) Before one is able to debate the ideas of inconsistency surrounding miracles, we must define and clarify what a miracle actually is. One definition is an event caused by God, this view is traditionally supported by Christians and philosophers such as Aquinas. A second definition is a violation of the laws of nature which is most commonly associated with David Hume. These two definitions usually underlie the way in which people approach the question of God acting in the world, thus impacting ones interpretation of miracles showing a benevolent God. Benevolence is used to describe God being a good and loving God. Many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this could have been down to a mis diagnoses which distorted the idea of a miracle occurring. Overall, the inconsistencies with miracles present a biased God. Why would a benevolent God only perform to people who visit Lourdes and not non believers ? Overall this shows God to not be benevolent because the miracles he performs are inconsistent and biased. Keith Ward stated that God is purposely inconsistent with miracles, and does not act within the world often so he does not undermine our free will, thus presenting a transcendent God. In his book Divine Action he stated that if God helps person X rather than person Y , it may be because person X has a more potentially important role in the working out of the divine purpose then person Y . Therefore God s inconsistency is deliberate and his actions are beyond our human understanding. This supports the concept of God being benevolent as he performs miracles for the greater good of the people, he can t save everyone, as this would undermine the significance of miracles, however he does intervene when it will make a large impact in the bigger picture. However, Hawkins stated that a good theory is one that is straight forward. Ward presents his argument based on a lot of assumptions. As Gods actions and purpose in the world is beyond our understanding, it is impossible for us to understand the significance and purpose of miracles. It is impossible for us to know what God s plan is. Who are we to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Similarities Between Wakeboarding And Snowboarding Whether gliding through once calm water, or shredding down powdery slopes, being on either one of these boards is a rush of extreme adrenaline. Wakeboarding and snowboarding both result in many similarities including aspect and motion. But each of these sports has entirely different aspects as well; including, surface terrains, locations, weather, and even clothing. No matter the differences and or similarities of both snowboardingand wakeboarding, they each share a rider with the longing and passion to strive at being the best they can be performing these sports. The most significant difference between wakeboarding and snowboarding is the surface terrain. This factor helps determine which types of tricks preformed and equipment is needed for the two sports. Snowboarding, of course, takes place on snowy hill tops, giving the rider the ability to glide down the icy terrain. Everyone can agree with that, yet students know they must endure the long days and heavy workloads to further their education and stay out of trouble. In addition to being a distraction, they can also pose a threat to the safety of their classmates. Alternative schools are a logical solution. For reasons unknown, some students simply cannot or choose not to behave during class. Caroleo opens her article, An Examination of the Risks and Benefits of Alternative Education , with the claim, One size education does not fit for all children and youth (35). It is true that blanket instruction does not work for most at risk students. A specialized educational setting results in an increase in supervision and guidance. Specialized settings lower the possibility of frequent outbursts; therefore, placement into a smaller class would benefit the disruptive student. In most alternative classrooms, the student teacher ratio is low. In a local alternative school hosted by New Brockton High School, the class roster rarely reaches above ten students. Smaller settings allow teachers the chance to minimize down time and focus on individuals. Increased one on one time allows students to find more productive outlets for their excess energy. In addition to being beneficial for the troublesome student, alternative schooling would allow other members of the class a productive environment in which to learn. Students outbursts are detrimental to not only the other students education but also the education of the delinquent as well. Placement into an alternative school will allow typical students to attend class uninterrupted and encourage the cause of distraction to focus on continuing their education. The Sacred Language of Toni Morrison Essay The Sacred Language of Toni Morrison Toni Morrison makes a good point when, in her acceptance speech upon receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature, she says, Narrative . . . is . . . one of the principal ways in which we absorb knowledge (7). The words we use and the way in which we use them is how we, as humans, communicate to each other our thoughts, feelings, and actions and therefore our knowledge of the world and its peoples. Knowledge is power. In this way, our language, too, is powerful. In her acceptance speech, Morrison tries to communicate the idea that we must be careful with how we use our words. Elizabeth Fox Genovese has a similar goal, but takes a different approach in her essay The Claims of a Common Culture: Gender, Race, Class and the Canon. She speaks on the use and composition of the canon taught in humanities classes. Her idea is that the canon of today is much too one sided and does not include the influence of the several different cultures, peoples, and ideas that make up our society. She says that with respect to representativeness, the canon fails woefully. It represent[s] a small, sometimes minute, portion of the elite, which itself constitute[s] a statistical minority of the population (Fox Genovese 19). In this abstract way, Fox Genovese is reiterating Morrison s words that what we say, and how we say it (or teach it), or what we fail to say (as in the canon taught today) is monumentally influencing and impactful upon others. If we are not aware of the words that come out of our mouths due to lack of thought or attention, we all suffer and we are all at fault: When language dies, out of carelessness, disuse, indifference, and absence of esteem, or killed by fiat, . . . all users and makers are accountable for its demise (Morrison 14 15). Security of the Political and Social Position of the Nobility in Early Modern Europe The nobility of early modern Europe were descended on the whole from the mounted knights of medieval armies who had been granted land along with social and political privileges and had subsequently formed a higher social class. Between 1500 1789 the status of the aristocracy came under threat both politically and socially. The rise of absolutism within the monarchies of Europe led to the desire of governments to reduce noble power and bypass several of their privileges in order to increase state revenue and centralise governmental control. Thirdly the nobility experienced a crisis of identity and a loss of purpose as their status decreased and there was a general relaxation of reverence [3]. The exercise of arms had been an intrinsic element in proving a noble s worth but after 1500 letters were often disassociated from arms and proved a far more certain road to wealth and nobility that the life of the warrior [4] and an education became as important as military prowess had been previously. This is another example of the nobility being forced to adapt to the social pressures of the period. As the middle classes grew they forced the nobility to change its outlook and modernise to keep up with the rest of society or become diminished and backwards. Educational standards also enabled the nobles to be judged by the universal standards of achievement rather than birth [5]. This demonstrates the changing attitudes of the lower classes as they began to require justification of the nobility s high status. The nobility s high social position was confirmed by their privileges, which firmly distinguished noble from commoner [6]. Africa Today 56(2): 97 101 Aidoo expands on Jon Glennie s scope of the discussion regarding aid implementation in Africa. He takes into account other prevalent work and analyzes the debate as a whole. The issue, on which people readily take sides, he contends is often too simplistically portrayed, often leading to poor solutions, typically in the form of more aid. Aidoo s critique of Glennie, who embraces aid reduction policies, calls Glennie s stance intellectually merited, but fails to move beyond an academic concept. Coyne, Christopher 2013 Doing Bad by Doing Good: Stanford Economics and Finance DBBDG shows the problems that those who intervene undergo when venturing into humanitarian efforts. The bureaucratic incentive structure of aid organizations and unintended consequences that stem from their actions often end up doing more harm than good. Coyne s analysis uses economic principle to form his case for using caution when considering humanitarian intervention. Those who intervene lack understanding of how the many variables associated with intervention will interact and how the bureaucratic incentive structure lacks the feedback mechanisms necessary for truly learning from mistakes. In this article, Hekker depicts her personal experience of being a full time working mother and how much it hurt when when she was divorced after 40 elongated years of marriage. It was mortifying for her to cope with the loneliness she felt after their divorce and, unfortunately she was forced to reestablish herself back from scratch. Unlike Luther, Calvin had not begun life with the mindset of being a preacher, but he arguably had just as much, if not more of an impact as a reformer. Calvin was educated as a French Humanist with a less than humanist view of predestination that culminated in an influential, but unfulfilled life. Calvin had a different beginning to that of most reformists, which lent him a unique perspective. According to Calvin his father had destined me for the study of theology. Artists such as Michelangelo, and Botticelli flourished during this era, creating masterpieces that continue to relevant in this day, and age. One such painter, Paris Bordone played a very influential role in the renaissanceand produced numerous works such as Annunciation, the Baptism of Christ, Bathsheba Bathing, with an African Servant, Chess Player, and A Portrait of a Lady. Born on July 5th, 1500, Bordone lived in Treviso before moving to Venice in his late adolescence. He applied for a brief apprenticeship with Renaissance giant Titian, and branched out as a painter by the 1520 s. There he began his career painting biblical portraits in Italy. Somewhere between 1534 1535, Bordone first gained recognition as an maestro for painting a canvas of the The Fisherman Presenting the Ring to Doge Gradenigo. This boosted his career, but also showcased his limitations as his usage of perspective in his painting created dwarfed backgrounds.
