This will include talking about Arrow performance characteristics, working with Arrow APIs, managing memory, sizing Arrow vectors, and moving data between processes and/or nodes. We’ll also review several code examples of specific data processing implementations and how they interact with Arrow data. Lastly we’ll spend a short amount of time on what’s next for Arrow. This will be a highly technical talk targeted towards people building data infrastructure systems and complex workflows.

Since 5.7.2, MySQL implements parallel replication in the same schema, also known as LOGICAL_CLOCK (DATABASE based parallel replication is also implemented in 5.6 but this is not covered in this talk). In early 5.7 versions, parallel replication was based on group commit (like MariaDB) and 5.7.6 changed that to intervals.
Intervals are more complicated but they are also more powerful. In this talk, I will explain in detail how they work and why intervals are better than group commit. I will also cover how to optimize parallel replication in MySQL 5.7 and what improvements are coming in MySQL 8.0.
Grafana Loki is a newly developed logs aggregation system that integrated very nicely with Grafana dashboard to link metrics with logs or just use logs as a separate panel. It is open-source and has a growing community.

RocksDB is the default state store for Kafka Streams. In this talk, we will discuss how to improve single node performance of the state store by tuning RocksDB and how to efficiently identify issues in the setup. We start with a short description of the RocksDB architecture. We discuss how Kafka Streams restores the state stores from Kafka by leveraging RocksDB features for bulk loading of data. We give examples of hand-tuning the RocksDB state stores based on Kafka Streams metrics and RocksDB’s metrics. At the end, we dive into a few RocksDB command line utilities that allow you to debug your setup and dump data from a state store. We illustrate the usage of the utilities with a few real-life use cases. The key takeaway from the session is the ability to understand the internal details of the default state store in Kafka Streams so that engineers can fine-tune their performance for different varieties of workloads and operate the state stores in a more robust manner.

Scylla Summit 2022: Learning Rust the Hard Way for a Production Kafka+ScyllaD...ScyllaDB
Numberly operates business-critical data pipelines and applications where failure and latency means "lost money" in the best-case scenario. Most of those data pipelines and applications are deployed on Kubernetes and rely on Kafka and ScyllaDB, where Kafka acts as the message bus and ScyllaDB as the source of some data enrichment. The availability and latency of both systems are thus very important because they mix and match data in the early stage of their pipelines to be consumed by their platforms.
Most of their applications are developed using Python. But they always felt that they could benefit from a lower-level programming language to squeeze the performance of their hardware even further for some of the most demanding applications. So, when an important part of their data pipeline was to be adjusted to reflect some important changes in their platforms, they thought it was a great opportunity to rewrite it in Rust!
Moving to Rust was hard, not only because of the language itself, but because being at a lower level allowed them to see, test, and demonstrate things that they could not pinpoint or explain that well using Python. They spent a lot of time analyzing the latency impacts of code patterns and client driver settings and ended up contributing to Apache Avro as they went down the rabbit hole.
This session will share their experience transitioning from Python to Rust while meeting the expectations of a business-critical application mixing data from Confluent Kafka and ScyllaDB. There will be code snippets, graphs, numbers, tears, pull requests, grins, latency results, smiles, rants of frustration, and a lot of fun!

InVision is a collaborative design company that’s growing into Golang. That being said, when we started doing web services, we looked at using one of the middleware libraries out there such as Alice and Negroni. We found them all interesting but decided to tackle it on our own. As we did that we realized that our library was pretty cool so we broke it out and open sourced it as Rye. I’ll present on the approach we took and some of the benefits of using Rye including integration with Statsd, Context and custom middleware handlers we’ve added such as CIDR validation and JWT validation.
In 2012, Derek Collison (Founder and CEO, Apcera) predicted that “Go will become the dominant language for systems work in IaaS Orchestration, and PaaS in 24 months.” Today, he feels his prediction wasn't too far off.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

When the automobile is sold to the customer, stock will be reduced automatically. When a new purchase is made, stock will be increased automatically. While selecting automobiles for sale, the proposed software will automatically check for total number of available stock of that particular item, if the total stock of that particular item is less than 5, software will notify the user to purchase the particular item.
Also when the user tries to sale items which are not in stock, the system will prompt the user that the stock is not enough. Customers of this system can search for a automobile; can purchase a automobile easily by selecting fast. On the other hand the stock of automobiles can be maintained perfectly by the automobile shop manager overcoming the drawbacks of existing system.
