Veeam Using cloud connect in 3 unexpected, awesome waysTanawit Chansuchai
Veeam Cloud Connect can be used in three unexpected ways:
1. To migrate on-premises tenant workloads to IaaS by using Cloud Connect as a staging repository.
2. To migrate workloads across different platforms to IaaS by leveraging Veeam Agent and an on-premises Veeam installation.
3. To provide DRaaS for on-premises workloads by using Cloud Connect for replication, failover via a self-service portal, and failover testing.
Staying Ahead of New Availability Requirements with the hybrid Cloud.Tanawit Chansuchai
This document discusses designing a hybrid cloud solution using Microsoft Azure, Cisco, Citrix NetScaler, and Veeam technologies. It provides an overview of these platforms and technologies, including Microsoft Azure and Azure Stack, Cisco Nexus 1000v network virtualization, Citrix NetScaler for load balancing and optimization, and Veeam's availability and disaster recovery platform. The document also discusses hybrid cloud design and using Veeam to provide disaster recovery to Microsoft Azure.
This document outlines 15 easy performance optimizations for backups:
1. Choosing the right backup method such as reverse or forward incremental backups.
2. Choosing the right transport mode between source and target.
3. Utilizing Veeam's mount server role and aligning block sizes for repositories.
It also discusses optimizing proxy affinity rules, migrating to Resilient File System to avoid I/O penalties, enabling per-VM backup files for parallel processing, and leveraging changed block tracking in Windows Server 2016 and VMware. Tweaking settings like NFC buffer sizes and connections can further boost performance. The document concludes with splitting very large backup jobs and tuning compression and scheduling.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Introducing Google Cloud’s Anthos
Anthos lets you build and manage
modern hybrid and multi-cloud
applications without lock-in
Build once, to run anywhere, across
your existing on-premise infrastructure
and all major public cloud providers

Main components : Anthos on premise
Admin GKE cluster – Every Anthos deployment
requires a admin GKE cluster to be deployed
first. This cluster acts as the central control
plane for all user GKE clusters and acts as the
connector between the on-prem cluster and
GCP.
User GKE Cluster – You can deploy one or
more user GKE clusters once the admin
workstation and admin cluster and installed.
The user GKE clusters execute the user
container workloads. These clusters can be
managed from the GCP console once the
clusters are installed and registered with GCP.
Admin workstation – this is the VM that
acts as the deployment host for all GKE
Cluster on-prem. You would login to the
admin workstation to kick-off the Anthos
cluster deployments and configuration

GKE on-Prem Cluster with HPE SimpliVity Architecture
44
In GKE On-Prem, there is an
admin cluster and, by default,
three user clusters. There are
also two add-ons VMs and one
admin workstation VM. All of
these VMs run in a single
vSphere cluster.

H/W Requirement for Anthos on premise
vSphere requirements
– VMware vSphere is a suite of virtualization software that includes VMware vCenter Server, a management tool, and
VMware ESXi, a type-1 hypervisor. You install GKE On-Prem to a VMware vSphere 6.5 cluster that you have configured in
your data center. To learn about installing vSphere, refer to Overview of the vSphere Installation and Setup Process in the
VMware documentation.
Resource requirements for admin and user clusters
When you install GKE On-Prem, you create two GKE clusters:
– An admin cluster
– A user cluster
The admin cluster runs the GKE On-Prem infrastructure, and the user cluster runs your workloads. After the initial
installation, you can create additional user clusters.
Your vSphere environment must have enough storage, CPU, and RAM resources to fulfill the needs of your admin and user
clusters. The resource needs of your user clusters depend on the type of workloads you intend to run.
