Investigating The Hardness Of River Tank And Tap Water
Water Hardness EEI
The aim of this investigation is to use a quantitative method to determine the hardness of river, tank
and tap water. Using chemicals including pH 10 buffer solution, Eriochrome Black T Indicator, 0.01M
magnesium chloride and 0.01M EDTA solution the milligrams of calcium carbonate per litre of the
three water samples (river, tank and tap) was tested. Using this method, it was discovered that river
water had the highest concentration of calcium carbonate of the samples, therefore was the hardest
water sample tested, whilst the tank water had the lowest concentration of calcium carbonate,
therefore it was the softest of the water samples. This investigation proved the hypothesis and the
quantitative method used worked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bonding within the water molecule and the interaction between the water molecules causes the
molecules to organise themselves in a bent shape. Both a space model and electron dot diagram of a
water molecule have been supplied in the appendix Image 1. Water has many unique properties, which
has allowed life to exist: for example, if ice didn t have a lower density than water, the oceans would
have frozen from the bottom up, killing all forms of life. Water is denser than ice because the
molecules in ice are further from each other than they are in water. Another property of water is that it
is a good solvent and is often called the universal solvent because of the number and variety of
substances that dissolve in it, including inorganic salts like sodium chloride separate. This is because
the cations are attracted to the negative end of the water molecule (the oxygen atom) while anions are
attracted to the positive end of the water molecule (the hydrogen atoms). The separated ions are then
surrounded by water molecules and are said to be hydrated ions. However, the presence of different
solutes, such as sodium chloride, can change some of the properties of water. One thing solutes often
do is decrease the freezing point and increase the boiling point. This adjustment can then be used as an
advantage, for example, when 76g of ethylene glycol, or antifreeze, is added to 1000g

`` Handlebars `` By Flobots And Hitler s Book
There is a great difference between coming to the realization of your own potential and actually
putting it to use. All over the world, although mostly in more developed countries, revolutions and
amazing discoveries have been caused by single human beings that are being active about their
knowledge. Some people are more passive about their ability to use their higher level thinking skills,
though. It is intimidating to think of the power that dominant individuals have had in the past, such as
influencing people s thinking and controlling their lives or making significant advancements and
saving numerous lives. The song Handlebars by Flobots and Hitler s book, Mein Kampf, both exhibit
a sense of power, ability to influence people s thinking, and a lack of self control that lead to the more
detrimental path of using one s knowledge and potential.
One of Adolf Hitler s main points throughout his book was how Germans are superior to every other
race and how Nazi s should be in complete power. He believed that the Aryan race was perfect, and
even encouraged women to bear as many children of this race as they could. He even goes to the
extent where he describes what the perfect person looks like, which consisted of pale skin, blue eyes,
etc. With this, he concluded that Jews and Gypsies were the most racially inferior with full plans to
eliminate them. Writing this book while in jail, being incarcerated for trying to seize southern
Germany, he must have been extremely confident

The 1941 Film, Citizen Kane,
History has rendered a variety of timeless art. The works have included multiple genres, such as
paintings, music, theatre, and photography. Each of the aforementioned genres have attributed to an
additional ageless art form. Film may be identified as an art form that combines multiple genres to
produce classic work. This is specifically revealed by an Orson Welles movie. The 1941 film, Citizen
Kane, may be considered a classic based on extensive research. Throughout history, the film is
repeatedly rated as one of the greatest films ever produced. Various elements such as storytelling and
technique have contributed to the recognition and acclaim attained by the film. During the era in
which the film was produced, Citizen Kane revolutionized film making and remains relevant today.
Despite the initial response to the film, Citizen Kane is a definite classic.
Two primary themes within the film contribute to the recognition and acclaim generated by Citizen
Kane. The themes are buried beneath the visual muddle of the film itself. First, the theme regarding
the disparagement of the private disposition of the municipal figure contribute to the esteem of the
film. (Carringer) Next, the theme regarding the overwhelming force of materialism may be identified
as a defining factor of the film, Citizen Kane. Viewed in unison, the themes encompass the poignant
irony of the triumphant success of an American. The tale takes a drastic turn and winds up revealing
the demise, lonesomeness,

Violence in Beowulf
Violence in Beowulf Beowulf is an epic poem written in Anglo Saxon times, by an unknown poet.
Beowulf is a Geatish man who rescues the Danish people from evil, and helps save his own country
from destruction. Beowulf, renowned for his bravery, and known as the strongest man alive, acquires
the help of fourteen thanes to sail with him to Denmark. There he is involved in two battles with two
evil monsters. He then fights another battle in his homeland with a Fire dragon. Without violence in
Beowulf, heroism would be impossible as evidenced by Beowulf s battles with Grendel, his mother,
and the Fire dragon. Beowulf first shows his heroic nature in the fight with Grendel. After all the men

Grendel s death however, was not quick and ruthless like those he inflicted to his victims. His death
was slow and tortuous, as Beowulf ripped his arm right off. Grendel wasis forced to run away and

painful death indeed. I believe that having Grendel die this way is a far more severe punishment than a
quick and painless death. The monster comes to the horrible realization that he

Wi Fi Local Area Network using RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) value for determining
the position, accuracy, etc. RSSI is the relative received signal strength in a wireless environment, in
arbitrary units. It is implemented and widely used in 802.11 standards [24]. RSSI is an indication of
the power level being received by the antenna. Therefore, the higher the RSSI number (or less
negative in some devices), the stronger the signal and in Received Signal Strength Method reference

While it is not clear what the future of GLONASS will be, currently, it appears that there is resurgence
in the availability of GLONASS signals and receivers that can process these signals. Despite the
popularity of GPS, many users are interested in alternative systems. This is motivated, in part, by the
fact that GPS is a system operated and controlled by the U.S. Department of Defense. As such, some
users may want to retain a navigation capability that is not solely GPS based. Another, more technical,
motivation for this is due to the fact that GPS (or any other GNSS) is a single system, and it is
conceivable that a single failure can result in a denial of service to a large number of users. Multiple
GNSS may provide a level of redundancy and, thus, an added degree of robustness to GNSS
applications. The Galileo constellation is the European Union s effort to provide both an alternative
and a compliment to GPS. The first Galileo satellite was launched in December 2005 and transmitted
test signals shortly afterward. The Galileo constellation is tentatively expected to become operational
sometime after 2010.In addition to GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo there are other GNSS currently in
development, such as the China s COMPASS constellation. This GNSS is being designed and
implemented by China and currently has a growing user base in that region. COMPASS is currently in
its in orbit validation (IOV) phase, with plans to be operational in the Asia Pacific region by

Teaching ASD Students Using Technology Aids
The use of technology in educational setting can be said to be relatively new and the use of technology
aids with ASD pupils is yet to be properly developed in the aspect of communicating (Ramdoss, et al.,

John Locke s Views On Private Property And Politics
Each Philosopher in the early modern world has different perspectives regarding private property and
politics in society. Although John Locke, Niccolo Machiavelli, and Karl Marx/Frederick Engels are
from different times their criticism are crucial onto the world. Being from different eras gives them a
unique perspective of how one should rule or govern. Each philosopher displays his own ideas and can
seemingly disagree with one another in their methods of government. Therefore when issues of
malicious rulers, private property, and politics arise, each philosopher handles these situations
differently in which they criticize their method to what they believe is the right way.

Machiavelli did not view all men equal. He believed that some men were a better fit to be rulers than
others. Machiavelli felt this because of the corrupt government that was taken in action at that time so
he knew that the government needed a ruler who can ensure stability and can properly manage it.
These are the characteristics that the Prince had in Machiavelli s book. An example from the book can
be seen as the Judeo Christian values as faulty in the state s success. Such visionary expectations, he
held, bring the state to ruin, for we do not live in the world of the ought, the fanciful utopia, but in the
world of is .(Machiavelli) The role of The Prince was not to gain integrity or virtue, but to guarantee
security within the government.
John Locke has a dissimilar opinion than Machiavelli. He is basically against Machiavelli because he
believes that an authoritarian government is unlawful and unjust to society. (Locke) John Locke
believes that all men are created equal, have the right to own property and are naturally moral and
rational. Locke believed in a natural right to life, liberty, and property; inherent rights to freedom and
self governance that no one can take away from people. (Locke) He thinks that people should govern
themselves and be accountable for their actions. Locke describes political power as the right to make

Global Warming And Its Effects On The Environment Essay
There s no argument about it now, global warming exists and is a problem. More and more people are
becoming concerned with greenhouse gases effects on the environment as well as humans effects on
the environment through our carbon footprint. Many activities humans participate in help add to the
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and increase the size and the effect of the carbon footprint
humanity is leaving behind. The carbon footprint is the amount of carbon the humans create as waste
through many processes such as the burning of fossil fuels and more. Recycling is one of the first
ideas used to combat pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. However, many people still argue
recycling s effectiveness and whether the processes are helping and if the processes are worth the
money. Recycling helps reduce the carbon footprint by reusing multiple types of materials, reducing
greenhouse gas emissions, as well as creating alternative sources of energy. Recycling s main idea is
to reuse materials from past products that were already created and are no longer used or just the
simple reuse of a product the way it is. The recycling of old materials reduces the need to create or
harvest raw materials in which both of those processes release large amounts of greenhouse gases.
Most people know of recycling paper and plastic, but many more types of materials can be reused like
metals and textiles. B. Zamani, M. Svanström, G. Peters, and T. Rydberg (2015) state that the reuse of

Hospice Is A Good Option For Them
If a patient does not have the ability to exercise the right to die, hospice is a really good option for
them to control the pain and pass peacefully. Hospice care is specialized care designed to provide
support to a person and their loved ones during an advanced illness, it focuses on comfort and quality
of life rather than a cure. (Hospice, 2015) Hospice is really the only option for people who live in
states that do not support the right to die; it strives to give the patient the highest possible quality of
life and make them comfortable, so they can live their final days to the fullest. Hospice is offered in
the home, in long term care facilities, and hospice will do about anything to keep the patient
comfortable. They help prepare their patients and their families for the approaching death, and they
offer bereavement services to the family after the death for up to three months. Hospice is a great
resource for people who are ready to stop fighting and be comfortable, but it still does not provide the
freedom that the right to die laws can, like allowing people to make their own choices about their life.
Right to die laws are state mandated in only four states: Oregon, California, Washington, and Vermont.
State mandated means that if a person meets the requirements to exercise their right to die, and he can
find a physician that will write their prescription, he is free to do as he pleases. In Montana, right to
die is mandated by court ruling, which means you must go to

I know that my inability to be at the right place, at the right time, in the right uniform, and with the
right attitude reflected poorly on my leadership which is something that I never wanted to happen. I
also know that I showed a lack of leadership, selfless service, and responsibility, which are three of
my army values. I know that my inability to leadership could later affect a promotion and it affects the
trust that my leadership has towards me. I know in order to be a successful soldier I must show
leadership qualities at all times. I know by me not showing up for work made it look like I don t have
selfless service. I know that I must put my nations, my units, and my battle buddies needs before my

Chinook Salmon Essay
The lifecycle of the New Zealand chinook salmon is conventional to that of salmon in the North
Pacific. chinook salmon (Otherwise known as quinnat or king salmon) mature in the ocean, they
typically will reach sexual maturity at 3 years old, but this can vary anything between 2 7 years.
(Females take longer than males.) Upon reaching sexual maturity, they will migrate upstream to
spawn. Spawning usually occurs in autumn, immediately after all adults die, as the energy expenditure
of the process is too significant to recover. The eggs will hatch in early spring, and the chinook will
spend several months in the fresh water (some populations spend up to a year) before they migrate
downstream into the ocean, only to repeat the process over. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Euryhaline fish species are able to adapt to a wide range of salinities. This is absolutely crucial for the
chinook salmon to survive in the various conditions it is challenged by. Typically, an ocean has a
salinity of 35 ppt (parts per thousand), whereas freshwater has a salinity of less than 0.5 ppt. The
chinook is challenged with keeping the concentration and composition of their body fluids within
homeostatic limits while migrating through these continual changes in water salinity. Homeostasis
refers to the relatively constant physiological state of the body despite fluctuations in the external
environment. To be more specific the chinook salmon must regulate water potential in order to sustain
fluid and electrolyte balance within its body relative to its surroundings. This is achieved through a
process called osmoregulation. Osmoregulation is crucial for the chinook to maintain optimal osmotic
pressure within the body, this is the way by which it can withhold a suitable concentration of solutes
and amount of water in its body fluids. Osmosis is the net movement of water or solvent molecules
across a semi permeable membrane from a region of low solute concentration to high concentration.
The chinook salmon proves to be an excellent example of an organism that displays the application of
osmoregulation in order to survive and complete the lifecycle required of it to spawn and pass on its

Analysis Of Anti-Intellectualism Why We Hate The Smart...
In Grant Penrod s Anti Intellectualism: Why We Hate the Smart Kids essay, he argues that academic
achievements should be acknowledged equally just as an athletic achievement. Smart kids do not
receive the acknowledgment that they deserve since society has a negative look regarding smart kids.
Anti Intellectualism is hostile feelings towards intellectuals or intellectual thoughts. Society tends to
celebrate non intellectuals. The essay talks about smart kids being labeled social outcasts for the
reason that average kids have separated themselves from kids smarter than them. Smart kids feel as if
they should retain their intelligence just to fit in a judgmental world. Penrod s argument is effective

of intellectuals being seen in a positive light, there is a disfavor for intellectuals that have become an

Confrontation Clause
In the United States criminal justice system, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
With this concept in mind, the accused are given many rights to a fair trial. One of those rights falls
under the sixth amendment in the United States Constitution. The confrontation clause reads, In all
criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right...to be confronted with the witnesses against
him. West s Encyclopedia of American Law defines the confrontation clause as, A fundamental right
of a defendant in a criminal action to come face to face with an adverse witness in the court s presence

The court treats sex abuse cases, where young children are victims differently. In 1990, the case
Maryland v. Craig permitted young children to testify by the use of one way, closed circuit televisions
out of the courtroom, under certain circumstances. The Supreme Court concluded that children s
psychological well being outweighed the accused entitlement to face to face confrontation (Parise,
1991, p. 1099).
In the past few years several cases have enforced a more comprehensive meaning to the confrontation
clause. Such cases are Crawford v. Washington, Melendez Diaz v. Massachusetts, and Davis v.
Washington. In 2004, the landmark case Crawford v. Washington, involved an assault where the
defendant Michael Crawford, got into an altercation involving a knife with another male over his wife.
During the arrest, the police taped both Michael and his wife statements. The prosecution used his
wife s damaging statement, as she was unwilling to testify against her husband, during his trial and
Crawford was convicted (Friedman, p. 440). Subsequently, the case made it to the United States
Supreme Court and they overturned the 1980 decision in Ohio v. Roberts. Justice Scalia wrote, Out of
court statements were admissible only when the witness was unavailable to testify and the defendant
had been able to cross examine the witness on a previous occasion (Supreme Court: Right to Confront

In contrast, advertisements may sometimes be construed as being an offer if they are of the unilateral

The Ruin
In The Anglo Saxons, Roman rule in Britain is said to have lasted from around 43 to 410 AD
(Campbell 8). After roughly 350 years, the Roman Britain era came to a full stop, only to be swiftly
overtaken by that of the Anglo Saxons this staunch ending is what a number of Anglo Saxon historians
attempt to convey, at least. In truth, power shifts in such nations are met with great complexity.
Despite the Anglo Saxon presence within the country, Britain was still rife with Roman infrastructure,
from pre existing roads to intact buildings. Not only were these constructions present, but they were
utilized for transit and trade, as well as recreationally. If infrastructure remained past the establishment
of Anglo Saxon power in Britain, cultural trends ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, the ease with which the text approaches the intermingling of Anglo Saxon and Roman culture
becomes blatantly apparent once considering the use of Latin loan words within The Ruin. When
considering the content of a poem, diction is often of the highest importance; by borrowing Latin amid
a poem which is primarily written in Old English, the wall between such cultures begin to crack. In
P.J. Frankis s article on diction in Anglo Saxon literature, he points to the a verse of the first line of
The Ruin, noting that the prefix of the word waelstan, or weal , is taken from Latin. He continues,
pointing to the word towers, or torras, another loan word (Frankis 225). The poet of The Ruin simply
may not have had the Old English translations for such words at their disposal. However, if these
Latin terms were purposely integrated into the text, they hold a vast amount of significance. The Ruin
literally joins Old English and Latin together in a closed space, forcing them to coexist in a state that
isn t divided by time. While Anglo Saxon constructs may frame the entirety of the text, the content of
the piece certainly has Roman influences scattered throughout. In light of the power of diction within
The Ruin, it is also worth looking at how culturally significant religious phrases and words are filtered

Bowl Of Stew
I listen to a great deal of leadership material while in my truck. Just to give you perspective, I drive
about a thousand miles a week for work. This audio of Andy Stanley is at the top of the list. It is
interesting that this will be our writing topic for the week, because as I listened my thoughts were on
the problem. As the presentation of Andy, I asked myself this question, what bowl of stew will it take
for me to hire the guy that has what appears to be shady (tapping his life shadows) ethics as it relates
to sharing proprietary information? Will my shadow for advancement be over whelming to the point I
will have a lapse in my judgment or in my character and hire this guy for my personal gain? Does the
most powerful person in the room come into play as it relates to this hire? If yes, how will I give this
power to others to make a team decision instead of a personal decision? I ponder these things as I

William Shakespeare s Macbeth Essay

Macbeth Research Paper When studying literature or reading a play, our attention is drawn to the
protagonist or antagonist. Shakespeare directs our attention onto heroism, which can be seen across all
of his plays like Macbeth or Julius Caesar. The protagonists Macbeth and Banquo conquer the evils
that face them throughout the plot. However, the nature of violence that takes place throughout
Shakespeare s plays is in relation to the source of the killing of the soul (Macbeth and the Nature of
Evil). In Macbeth, Macbeth is known as a superhuman warrior, the characteristics of being brave and
having ambition. The main reason evil stirs up violence can be seen as examples in Macbeth and
Julius Caesar, which is caused by evil being incompatible with humanity (Shakespeare s Play
Themes). The murders in Macbeth and Julius Caesar are both examples of the rotation of the natural
order. The killing of King Duncan in Macbeth is a prime example how evil and violence is shown into
a comparison into Julius Caesar. Shakespeare uses a common theme in all plays that all relates back to
reality (The Killing of King Duncan). Shakespeare also uses the literary device of repetition to create a
theme (The Killing of King Duncan). In Macbeth the word blood is repeated due to creating the theme
and the word blood allows the readers to remember that evil is a result to violence and anger. Blood is

Troilus And Cressida In The Odyssey
William Shakespeare s play Troilus and Cressida is a play covering the events leading up the mythic
Odyssey. Much like many modern works, as well as Shakespeare s own, the story plays host to a love
story between two characters, the titular, Troilus and Cressida. The pair are both Trojans, each from
noble houses; Troilus, son to Prima the king of Troy, and Cressida, daughter to Calchas a priest within
the city. The love affair betwixt the pair is interesting to say the least, as it appears early on in the text
to be one sided. In ACT I Scene 2, Cressida is introduced and speaks with her uncle, Pandarus. Here
Cressida talks with Pandarus and seems to think little of Troilus, comparing him disfavorably to his
elder brother Hector, O Jupiter, there s no comparison! (1.2 295) Cressida and Pandarus go back and

Uniformities In Vietnam War Essay
While history is the study of past events, knowledge in history is not constituted by strictly knowing
what has happened in the past. Knowledge in history requires awareness of various perspectives of
historical events and our interactions with past events. Uniformities are an essential component in
determining knowledge in history, as is helps us identity the causality of the historical event or the
intent of others. Though uniformities are imperative to determine knowledge, there are dangers that
can result in the development of fallacious knowledge. Dangers in uniformities include: contradicting
underlying assumptions and contrasting perspectives about how uniformities lead to knowledge. As

However, the cause of war was unclear among different countries. The United States knowledge about
Vietnam was rooted in a broader concern about communism, rather than colonialism. Occurring in the
midst of the Cold War between Russia and the United States, when communism was a major concern,
the United States felt an obligation to join the war to prevent the spread of communism. During this
time, United States president, Lyndon B. Johnson, was concerned with the Domino Theory, stating
that if one country came under the influence of communism, the surrounding nations in the region
would fall under the influence of communism in a domino effect. Afraid that Chinese influence would
win the war and make Vietnam a communist nation, the United States joined the war supporting South
Vietnam and protecting the surrounding Asian nations from falling under the influence of
communism. However, from Vietnam s perspective, the war did not concern communism at all.
Vietnam believed that the Vietnam War was a civil war to fight for independence from a colonial
power. These contradicting underlying assumptions were constructed by various ways of knowing
from the opposing sides: the United States way of forming their underlying assumption was through

Media And Mass Media
In today s society, mass media is considered to have been one of the most powerful leading sources of
news stories and content on what is going on in the world. Mass Media and entertainment are the most
used forms of popular culture that plays a noteworthy role when it comes down to shaping and
sculpting our perceptions of others. For many citizens of the us, news media is one of the most
primary ways that we learn about different people from different places and learn about people who
are different from us. The problem though, is that many representations are based on cultural
stereotypes, which tend to marginalize and place certain groups inferior to others. The media is
considered to be a tool to create and maintain a balanced society which is created by a group of well
informed people, democracy and also a sense of social justice. In fact, the media has a prominent
influence on all aspects of human life in modern times Sadly, a lot of the images that are shown and
viewed in the media tend to leave long lasting impressions, whether good or bad. Some of these
impressions have the ability to leave a negative impact on the viewers. Although the media is a very
useful resource, the media has been very destructive to our society and most importantly the African

Aryballos Analysis
The two vases that are looked at in the analysis are VUW Classics 1950 A18 (A18) and VUW Classics
1950 A8 (A8). The small size and spherical shape of A18 suggests that it is an aryballos, the standard
name for small rounded vases, that were often used to store perfume or oil (B. A. Sparkes, 1991). The
aryballoi shape was most common in Corinth, and while Athenian examples also exist (University of
Oxford, 2011a), the light colour of the clay suggests this particular example is Corinthian. This one
has no foot, a single handle and a narrow neck with a wide, flat mouth that is suitable for pouring oil
in small quantities. They were mostly worn as accessories by young men like athletes (Neer, 2012).

No red slip is used on the aryballos, which became fashionable when Attic wares dominated the
market during mid 6th century (Neer, 2012). The spherical aryballoi was most popular during the
Proto Corinthian, before the shape elongated (Encyclopædia Britannica, n.d a). The patterned design
on A18 is also in line with the tendencies of the Orientalising Period for heavy patterns with little
blank space. This dates A18 around c. 725 c. 600 bce. This cluttered Orientalising style isn t present
on A8. There is a larger focus on the scene being depicted as opposed to creating patterns, a trend that
became popular in the Mid Corinthian period (Neer, 2012). Evidence of cylinder Lekythoi has been
dated as early as the late 6th century, but the shape really became popular in the 5th century
(University of Oxford, 2011b). A new technique of white ground became popular on the lekythoi
(Encyclopædia Britannica, n.d b), which A8 doesn t exhibit. This evidence dates A8 around c. 540 c.

Emotional Intelligence Papers
Emotional Intelligence
In this paper, I will thoroughly describe how an EI level can enhance or hamper being an effective
leader. I will also explain in detail five of the core themes, gratitude, compassion, empathy,
forgiveness, and mindfulness. Emotional Intelligence and understanding the core themes is beneficial
in everyday life. As leaders, it is essential and will assist in providing a positive work environment.
Emotional Intelligence in Leadership
Having Emotional Intelligence (EI) in leadership is important. A leader who is emotionally aware and
is accomplished in emotional intelligence can result in an improved team performance. An EI leader
can pick up on various emotions that can help them steer their staff in a better direction. According to
our class readings, the Mayer and Salovey theory created the term Emotional Intelligence. They
described EI as one s ability to read the emotions of others. They described EI into four different parts;

Conclusion
This paper has described how having an adequate EI can enhance someone in leadership. It has also
described how having a low EI can hamper someone in a leadership role. I have also discussed five of
the core themes, gratitude, compassion, empathy, forgiveness, and mindfulness. This paper has shown
the importance of having these qualities and using them daily in our relationships. Whether you re a

Suggestions lead to misinformation, which leads to wrongful convictions. Paz Alonso and Goodman
(2008) stated that in the Moscow terrorist bombings, researchers talked to witnesses after the attack
and indicated that others saw wounded animals in the attack. About 13% of the participants accepted
the information as true. The acceptance of false information can be effected by the time difference of
the event and the misinformation (Paz Alonso and Goodman, 2008, p. 59 62). There is not a basic
science to how we recall things or how memories can be manipulated by suggestions. Knowing that
suggestions could change the way a witness remembers something, could mean that police officers
need to change the way they ask a person what they saw and not to make suggestions. The more time
that passes from an event, the harder it can be to remember a situation or get information correctly.
Paz Alonso and Goodman (2008) conducted a study of how time and retention intervals can lead to
wrong responses. The participants in the study showed that just after two weeks the retention of
memories had a much higher rate of misled information. Time can cause a memory to fade or even
cause some details change (p. 59). In California, the time between the day a crime was committed to
the trial date can be vary. Over that period of time a witness could start to have trouble remembering

My desire to become a researcher stems from both my personality and my experience. Born in a

Evolution Of A Large Mammal s Life Cycles
Fossils are considered to be evolutionary markers that records a lineages of creatures across time
providing a distinct way to compare different species. When Darwin set forth on a journey to the
Galapagos Islands, he discovered many aspects of evolution. During his expedition, he discovered the
fossils of creatures which closely resembled the modern armadillos. At that time, Darwin did not
possess any tools or resources to predict the phylogenetic lineages and the evolutionary history of the
armadillos. However, using modern day science and techniques like DNA and protein sequencing, it is
now possible to better understand the relationships between different organisms. Furthermore, by
observing the early developmental (embryonic) stages of a large mammal s life cycles it is possible to
indicate the relationship of the mammals with other mammals6. The combination of these methods
may lead us to determine the phylogenetic position of armadillos Dasypodidae and other related
organisms, such as anteaters and sloths.
Armadillos evolutionary history has been a subject of many controversies and has been revised
multiple times. Nevertheless, new developments in sequencing have allowed us to better understand
the evolutionary relations using the DNA and proteins found in the fossils. By the use of these
techniques, we are able to see the points of similarities among different species of armadillos.
Furthermore, we can produce a phylogenetic tree to see the divergence of

Anne Boleyn s Role In Royal Relationships
Early modern queens faced high stakes that only an early education in its management and a strict

former public persona and reputation as a mistress with rhetoric of masculine divinity used in her

Racial Identity
Introduction:
As someone who identifies as a multi racial woman, I have found that my racial location in society has
been different based on who I am around. I am of lighter skin, and I have acknowledged I am more
privileged than a woman who is darker than me. As a multi racial woman, I at times have had to make
sure I fit in based on who I was surrounded by. I am aware that in ways I do benefit from white
privilege, but in a lot of ways I am still put into the subordinate group by the dominate racial groups. I
fully became aware of my racial identity as a child, going to a predominately white elementary school.
After my encounters with some of the peers and teachers at this school, I became aware that I was
different , and for the first time not feeling fully accepted into my peer groups.
Dominant/subordinate spectrum:
As stated before I identify as a multi racial woman. I am African American, White, and Lebanese.
Racially I can fall into both subordinate and dominate groups. I am a lighter skinned, multi racial
woman, and in many ways, have been treated differently compared to those who have a darker skin
tone. Because lighter skin is viewed as more acceptable, I have been treated better by the dominant
racial group. The fact that my skin is lighter does put me at the higher end of the dominant spectrum. I
am taken more seriously, because my skin is lighter, I am more legitimate in the eyes of some.
Although my skin is lighter I am still placed into the subordinate

ambiguous forms, where the perceptions of the instigator, target, and observer(s), must factor together

Importance Of Managing Change And Innovation In Nursing
For this discussion post, I will be discussing why understanding and effectively managing change and
innovation is an essential leadership competency. I will provide two examples in regards to rationale
and how change has been successfully or unsuccessfully managed at my place of work. I will provide
an example of what my place of employment could have done differently in managing the
unsuccessful changes. Along with this, I will provide change theory elements used. Upon ending this
discussion, I will end with a conclusion.
I believe that change and innovation are a vital part of nursing. Nursing, as well as health care, have
many ongoing changes, which is just part of the territory. We must be adaptable to change in order to

In regards to success, there is a requirement that all nurses new to the facility achieve their bachelor s
degree. They must sign a contract to do so. There is an incentive program to help you pay for your
education. If one chooses to return to college within the network, then 100% of your schooling is paid
for. If one chooses to attend a college outside of the network, then my place of employment will pay
up to $5000 per year towards your education and anything over that, then you are responsible for. As
far as unsuccessful changes go, there have been recent changes to the workload not only for the
nurses, but the nursing assistants as well. They are trying to do away with less of these individuals by
assigning more patients to them. This is unsafe, not only for the patients, but for their nursing license
as well. I think my organization should think less about dollars and more about the quality of patient
care. With these new rules in place, I believe patient satisfaction is going to be on the decline. It is
critical to evaluate the compliance with the changes being implemented (Rundquist,

  • 2. Investigating The Hardness Of River Tank And Tap Water Water Hardness EEI The aim of this investigation is to use a quantitative method to determine the hardness of river, tank and tap water. Using chemicals including pH 10 buffer solution, Eriochrome Black T Indicator, 0.01M magnesium chloride and 0.01M EDTA solution the milligrams of calcium carbonate per litre of the three water samples (river, tank and tap) was tested. Using this method, it was discovered that river water had the highest concentration of calcium carbonate of the samples, therefore was the hardest water sample tested, whilst the tank water had the lowest concentration of calcium carbonate, therefore it was the softest of the water samples. This investigation proved the hypothesis and the quantitative method used worked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bonding within the water molecule and the interaction between the water molecules causes the molecules to organise themselves in a bent shape. Both a space model and electron dot diagram of a water molecule have been supplied in the appendix Image 1. Water has many unique properties, which has allowed life to exist: for example, if ice didn t have a lower density than water, the oceans would have frozen from the bottom up, killing all forms of life. Water is denser than ice because the molecules in ice are further from each other than they are in water. Another property of water is that it is a good solvent and is often called the universal solvent because of the number and variety of substances that dissolve in it, including inorganic salts like sodium chloride separate. This is because the cations are attracted to the negative end of the water molecule (the oxygen atom) while anions are attracted to the positive end of the water molecule (the hydrogen atoms). The separated ions are then surrounded by water molecules and are said to be hydrated ions. However, the presence of different solutes, such as sodium chloride, can change some of the properties of water. One thing solutes often do is decrease the freezing point and increase the boiling point. This adjustment can then be used as an advantage, for example, when 76g of ethylene glycol, or antifreeze, is added to 1000g ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. `` Handlebars `` By Flobots And Hitler s Book There is a great difference between coming to the realization of your own potential and actually putting it to use. All over the world, although mostly in more developed countries, revolutions and amazing discoveries have been caused by single human beings that are being active about their knowledge. Some people are more passive about their ability to use their higher level thinking skills, though. It is intimidating to think of the power that dominant individuals have had in the past, such as influencing people s thinking and controlling their lives or making significant advancements and saving numerous lives. The song Handlebars by Flobots and Hitler s book, Mein Kampf, both exhibit a sense of power, ability to influence people s thinking, and a lack of self control that lead to the more detrimental path of using one s knowledge and potential. One of Adolf Hitler s main points throughout his book was how Germans are superior to every other race and how Nazi s should be in complete power. He believed that the Aryan race was perfect, and even encouraged women to bear as many children of this race as they could. He even goes to the extent where he describes what the perfect person looks like, which consisted of pale skin, blue eyes, etc. With this, he concluded that Jews and Gypsies were the most racially inferior with full plans to eliminate them. This is specifically revealed by an Orson Welles movie. The 1941 film, Citizen Kane, may be considered a classic based on extensive research. Throughout history, the film is repeatedly rated as one of the greatest films ever produced. Various elements such as storytelling and technique have contributed to the recognition and acclaim attained by the film. During the era in which the film was produced, Citizen Kane revolutionized film making and remains relevant today. Despite the initial response to the film, Citizen Kane is a definite classic. Two primary themes within the film contribute to the recognition and acclaim generated by Citizen Kane. The themes are buried beneath the visual muddle of the film itself. First, the theme regarding the disparagement of the private disposition of the municipal figure contribute to the esteem of the film. (Carringer) Next, the theme regarding the overwhelming force of materialism may be identified as a defining factor of the film, Citizen Kane. Viewed in unison, the themes encompass the poignant irony of the triumphant success of an American. The tale takes a drastic turn and winds up revealing the demise, lonesomeness, ... While it is not clear what the future of GLONASS will be, currently, it appears that there is resurgence in the availability of GLONASS signals and receivers that can process these signals. Despite the popularity of GPS, many users are interested in alternative systems. This is motivated, in part, by the fact that GPS is a system operated and controlled by the U.S. Department of Defense. As such, some users may want to retain a navigation capability that is not solely GPS based. Another, more technical, motivation for this is due to the fact that GPS (or any other GNSS) is a single system, and it is conceivable that a single failure can result in a denial of service to a large number of users. Multiple GNSS may provide a level of redundancy and, thus, an added degree of robustness to GNSS applications. The Galileo constellation is the European Union s effort to provide both an alternative and a compliment to GPS. The first Galileo satellite was launched in December 2005 and transmitted test signals shortly afterward. The Galileo constellation is tentatively expected to become operational sometime after 2010.In addition to GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo there are other GNSS currently in development, such as the China s COMPASS constellation. Each philosopher displays his own ideas and can seemingly disagree with one another in their methods of government. • 10. Global Warming And Its Effects On The Environment Essay There s no argument about it now, global warming exists and is a problem. More and more people are becoming concerned with greenhouse gases effects on the environment as well as humans effects on the environment through our carbon footprint. Many activities humans participate in help add to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and increase the size and the effect of the carbon footprint humanity is leaving behind. The carbon footprint is the amount of carbon the humans create as waste through many processes such as the burning of fossil fuels and more. Recycling is one of the first ideas used to combat pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. However, many people still argue recycling s effectiveness and whether the processes are helping and if the processes are worth the money. Recycling helps reduce the carbon footprint by reusing multiple types of materials, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as creating alternative sources of energy. Recycling s main idea is to reuse materials from past products that were already created and are no longer used or just the simple reuse of a product the way it is. The recycling of old materials reduces the need to create or harvest raw materials in which both of those processes release large amounts of greenhouse gases. Hospice care is specialized care designed to provide support to a person and their loved ones during an advanced illness, it focuses on comfort and quality of life rather than a cure. (Hospice, 2015) Hospice is really the only option for people who live in states that do not support the right to die; it strives to give the patient the highest possible quality of life and make them comfortable, so they can live their final days to the fullest. Hospice is offered in the home, in long term care facilities, and hospice will do about anything to keep the patient comfortable. They help prepare their patients and their families for the approaching death, and they offer bereavement services to the family after the death for up to three months. Hospice is a great resource for people who are ready to stop fighting and be comfortable, but it still does not provide the freedom that the right to die laws can, like allowing people to make their own choices about their life. (Females take longer than males.) Upon reaching sexual maturity, they will migrate upstream to spawn. Spawning usually occurs in autumn, immediately after all adults die, as the energy expenditure of the process is too significant to recover. The chinook is challenged with keeping the concentration and composition of their body fluids within homeostatic limits while migrating through these continual changes in water salinity. Homeostasis refers to the relatively constant physiological state of the body despite fluctuations in the external environment. This is achieved through a process called osmoregulation. Osmoregulation is crucial for the chinook to maintain optimal osmotic pressure within the body, this is the way by which it can withhold a suitable concentration of solutes and amount of water in its body fluids. Osmosis is the net movement of water or solvent molecules across a semi permeable membrane from a region of low solute concentration to high concentration. In fact, the ease with which the text approaches the intermingling of Anglo Saxon and Roman culture becomes blatantly apparent once considering the use of Latin loan words within The Ruin. When considering the content of a poem, diction is often of the highest importance; by borrowing Latin amid a poem which is primarily written in Old English, the wall between such cultures begin to crack. In P.J. Frankis s article on diction in Anglo Saxon literature, he points to the a verse of the first line of The Ruin, noting that the prefix of the word waelstan, or weal , is taken from Latin. He continues, pointing to the word towers, or torras, another loan word (Frankis 225). The poet of The Ruin simply may not have had the Old English translations for such words at their disposal. However, if these Latin terms were purposely integrated into the text, they hold a vast amount of significance. The Ruin literally joins Old English and Latin together in a closed space, forcing them to coexist in a state that isn t divided by time. William Shakespeare s Macbeth Essay Irene Pantazis Mr. Dudley Pr Ap English III 4 December, 2015 Macbeth Research Paper When studying literature or reading a play, our attention is drawn to the protagonist or antagonist. Shakespeare directs our attention onto heroism, which can be seen across all of his plays like Macbeth or Julius Caesar. The protagonists Macbeth and Banquo conquer the evils that face them throughout the plot. However, the nature of violence that takes place throughout Shakespeare s plays is in relation to the source of the killing of the soul (Macbeth and the Nature of Evil). In Macbeth, Macbeth is known as a superhuman warrior, the characteristics of being brave and having ambition. The main reason evil stirs up violence can be seen as examples in Macbeth and Julius Caesar, which is caused by evil being incompatible with humanity (Shakespeare s Play Themes). The murders in Macbeth and Julius Caesar are both examples of the rotation of the natural order. The killing of King Duncan in Macbeth is a prime example how evil and violence is shown into a comparison into Julius Caesar. Shakespeare uses a common theme in all plays that all relates back to reality (The Killing of King Duncan). • 31. Witness Can Cause Errors The second study evaluated how the emotions of a witness can cause errors in the retelling of their story when there were no suggestions made. The participants in the study watched a violent video clip, then they were split into three groups. These groups consisted of an emotional aspect, factual and the controlled group. In the emotional group the individuals were instructed to talk about how the video made them feel when they were retelling the story. In the factual group they were told to just tell exactly what they remember what happened. The controlled group did an activity that was unrelated to the subject. All completed a free call and cue driven memory tests. The cue tests showed that it had little effort on the focus of telling the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Suggestions lead to misinformation, which leads to wrongful convictions. Paz Alonso and Goodman (2008) stated that in the Moscow terrorist bombings, researchers talked to witnesses after the attack and indicated that others saw wounded animals in the attack. About 13% of the participants accepted the information as true. The acceptance of false information can be effected by the time difference of the event and the misinformation (Paz Alonso and Goodman, 2008, p. 59 62). There is not a basic science to how we recall things or how memories can be manipulated by suggestions. Knowing that suggestions could change the way a witness remembers something, could mean that police officers need to change the way they ask a person what they saw and not to make suggestions. The more time that passes from an event, the harder it can be to remember a situation or get information correctly. Paz Alonso and Goodman (2008) conducted a study of how time and retention intervals can lead to wrong responses. The participants in the study showed that just after two weeks the retention of memories had a much higher rate of misled information. Time can cause a memory to fade or even cause some details change (p. 59). In California, the time between the day a crime was committed to the trial date can be vary. • 32. Doing Cutting Edge Research Work At Leading Universities... Doing cutting edge research work at leading universities paints a full image of my dream. Conducting leading edge academic research to advance business knowledge as a learned scholar has always appealed to me much more than conducting operating strategies to maximize corporate value as a chief officer. For me, nothing can compared with the eagerness to discover new things, the rapture of acquiring much knowledge, the satisfaction after intellectual interactions. To fulfill my career goal as an outstanding academic researcher in finance area, I would like to pursue a doctoral degree by dedicating my full time to a research intensive program, which can offer the right foundation to help me get ahead. I believe that the Ph.D. program in Business Administration (with concentration in Finance) would be invaluable in helping me meet my long term goal. My desire to become a researcher stems from both my personality and my experience. Born in a family full of educators, I value knowledge more than wealth. Intelligence is the main asset in my family both my parents devote themselves in research and teaching as professors in universities, though they have different specialty. Asking questions constantly and searching for answers are greatly encouraged. And elders extol virtues mostly when I show curiosity, erudition and initiative. But actually, I didn t come to decide on my lifetime career goal just simply to follow in my parents footsteps. I have tried something else and also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Evolution Of A Large Mammal s Life Cycles Fossils are considered to be evolutionary markers that records a lineages of creatures across time providing a distinct way to compare different species. When Darwin set forth on a journey to the Galapagos Islands, he discovered many aspects of evolution. During his expedition, he discovered the fossils of creatures which closely resembled the modern armadillos. At that time, Darwin did not possess any tools or resources to predict the phylogenetic lineages and the evolutionary history of the armadillos. However, using modern day science and techniques like DNA and protein sequencing, it is now possible to better understand the relationships between different organisms. Furthermore, by observing the early developmental (embryonic) stages of a large mammal s life cycles it is possible to indicate the relationship of the mammals with other mammals6. The combination of these methods may lead us to determine the phylogenetic position of armadillos Dasypodidae and other related organisms, such as anteaters and sloths. Armadillos evolutionary history has been a subject of many controversies and has been revised multiple times. Nevertheless, new developments in sequencing have allowed us to better understand the evolutionary relations using the DNA and proteins found in the fossils. By the use of these techniques, we are able to see the points of similarities among different species of armadillos. Furthermore, we can produce a phylogenetic tree to see the divergence of ... • 36. Anne Boleyn s Role In Royal Relationships Early modern queens faced high stakes that only an early education in its management and a strict youth that ensured a pure reputation could prepare one for. Another young woman of the middle nobility, Anne Boleyn, faced the same challenges as her predecessors, but had only been groomed to succeed to the role of a mistress due to the King s marital status. Anne s inability to reconcile her former public persona and reputation as a mistress with rhetoric of masculine divinity used in her coronation ultimately estranged her from both her husband and family. This third model of queenship in which the King held a relationship with his bride before their marriage marks a novelty for early modern royal relationships. Her new model of queenship attempted ... Two extant contemporary portraits offer a clear glimpse at the constructed Anne Boleyn who beat the odds to capture the King s interest in the late 1520s. The first work, currently at the National Portrait Gallery, features a dark background framing a pale woman with olive skin, sunken black eyes, and long dark hair. Her dark features match her apparel, as her gown and French hood almost blend into the background. The only brightness in the work shines in her skin and famous initial necklace. Overly dark in tone, the piece promoted mystery, a charm that directly conflicts with the principles of courtly love Anne encouraged. The second portrait, hangs in her familial castle, Hever Castle. • 37. Racial Identity Introduction: As someone who identifies as a multi racial woman, I have found that my racial location in society has been different based on who I am around. I am of lighter skin, and I have acknowledged I am more privileged than a woman who is darker than me. As a multi racial woman, I at times have had to make sure I fit in based on who I was surrounded by. I am aware that in ways I do benefit from white privilege, but in a lot of ways I am still put into the subordinate group by the dominate racial groups. I fully became aware of my racial identity as a child, going to a predominately white elementary school. After my encounters with some of the peers and teachers at this school, I became aware that I was different , and for the first time not feeling fully accepted into my peer groups. Dominant/subordinate spectrum: As stated before I identify as a multi racial woman. I am African American, White, and Lebanese. Racially I can fall into both subordinate and dominate groups. I am a lighter skinned, multi racial woman, and in many ways, have been treated differently compared to those who have a darker skin tone. Because lighter skin is viewed as more acceptable, I have been treated better by the dominant racial group. The fact that my skin is lighter does put me at the higher end of the dominant spectrum. I am taken more seriously, because my skin is lighter, I am more legitimate in the eyes of some. Although my skin is lighter I am still placed into the subordinate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Workplace Incivility: I don t have time to be nice. Unlike aggressive, violent, and abusive workplaces, where the intent to cause harm is apparent, incivility takes on more ambiguous forms, where the perceptions of the instigator, target, and observer(s), must factor together to determine intent (Andersson, 1999). General incivility, as a primary precursor to a toxic workplace, can be described as rude behavior, or a disregard for others within the organization, stemming from a lack of recognition, or ignorance, of co workers emotions and values, often taking form in deviance as a protest of dissatisfaction (Kelloway, 2010), and leads to a downward spiral of malcontent. Pearson classifies Incivility as Low intensity deviant behavior with ambiguous intent to harm stemming from Anti social behavior in violation of workplace norms for mutual respect .Despite the intent, or lack thereof, the effects of incivility in the workplace are strictly damaging, and as such, must be addressed before spiraling out of control.
