Good Ole American Way Essay
Good Ole American Way Though many feel that the American education system is a model of success, compared to the educational system of Finland,
the American system is in dire need of reform. The focus of these reforms should begin with mandatory recess, teacher salaries, and high–stakes testing.
Recess should be a necessary part of the student's day. Teachers, who are the key to student's learning, do not make they salary they deserve.
Standardized testing is unfair because one test cannot determine a student's ability. Recess is as important as classroom time. It is critical in
development and social interaction (Rochman). Students should be able to go blow off steam, run around for a half hour, let out some energy halfway
through their day. Recess can also teach young kids responsibility. If he or she gets in trouble, the school can take it away from them. This teaches
children that their actions have consequences. It helps children practice conflict and resolution. "Play time benefits extend beyond the physical
development in students but affects social, emotional and cognitive development," (Rochman). After they have a break, they will be more able to focus
on their studies. Who doesn't need a break during the day? Most adults get an hour break in the middle of the day, most students get twenty... Show

"Teachers across 34 developed countries make about 22% less, on average, than their full–time counterparts with similar education levels who have
chosen to do pretty much anything else with their lives," (Edwards). If students are the future, why do teachers get short–changed with low salaries
compared to other professionals? All teachers have a college education, yet with their low salaries, they spend many years paying off college loans.
Next to the military, teachers have most important job in our country, and they are not paid for their

Exercise Is A Good And Normal Way For Lose Weight
Did you know, the percent of adults who are obese in the United States is 34.9% now, and it was continually getting larger in the recent years
(CDC)? What a surprise that more than 1 out of 3 adults are obese in our country. Obesity can cause various health problems, such as high blood
pressure, diabetes, coronary heart disease, or even directly cause death. So, it is time to control and prevent obesity. Exercise is a good and normal
way to lose weight, but Melinda Moyer discusses about another way, reducing the amount of carbs in people's daily lives. She leads readers to explore
the relation between carbs–rich diet and obesity or chronic disease. Even though some other theories like low–fat diet were supported in the history,
more facts and evidence prove that low–carbs diet is the best way to solve the problem. Moyer uses pathos, ethos and logos to persuade her audience
to against carbs, and choose low–carb diet in her article "Against The Grains." Pathos is the strategy that is used in some sections of the article to
appeal to audience's emotions. Moyer promptly attracts readers' attention by starting the article with her own experience of weight loss. She says she
lost 15 pounds because of the wheat–free diet (Moyer 2). It may let readers (especially who are obese, and looking for an efficient way to lose their
weight) excited about this fact, and curious about how and why wheat–free diet helps with weight loss. Then, the readers will go through the following

Why A Company Can Go Through Social Media
Many reasons why a company can go through so many changes throughout the years are due to the change of the market. With industries such as
publishing, the changes can become endless. Publishers try and find ways to get their ideas out into such a market for consumers to enjoy. Publishing
companies started out small however as time continued so did the demand in products. The demand grew so much that the markets became so big so
fast. Pushing for an idea that marketing today is more dependent on publishing content through social media. Marketing and publishing companies
have continued to change with time, because technology changes too. Marketing now has the most important role in publishing because it aims for a
target audience and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marketing and publishing can continue to date back together when trying to promote ideas. The marketer had to find someone to enjoy the ideas that
the publisher wanted to promote. The early changes and develops of publishing are some of the only changes that continued to grow into todays markets
Using your brain is something we all do day in and day out. This is a normal way of thinking about how we see the world. We tend to use what we
see around us as reminders of what we want, or need to do. When publishers go about publishing a new book or new product they try and find
someone who can use the information they are providing. Whether it is a true story or something strictly made up. We as humans have tendencies to
use what we read and hear to promote some sort of desire we want. We can have many different ways of explaining what we see and what we gain.
One of the best examples is from a "Derren Browns subliminal advertising". This is an actual video that shows two well–known advertisers from the
from MBA firm being had by what they already knew. It explains how what we as humans see just driving down the street can have the biggest
impact on what we draw. The two men were asked to draw an idea for a new poster for something they had never heard of. However when they were
done the man showed them what he thought they would of drawn and it was almost identical. You ask why is this? Well marketing is designed to
weave such patterns and designs into

Is It Better To Spot Fake News?
Fake news can make you think differently towards many things, it can even change the way you think about an upcoming election or a new law.
The way fake news gets spread around is simple. It gets shared over and over again on the internet and social media. There are some easy ways to spot
fake news but sometimes it is not so easy to do so. Fake news can change the way we think and change our beliefs towards democracy in many ways.
Many people believe everything they see and read on the internet. Most of the time they spread what they see and other people read and share it as
well. But in order to spot fake news and stop the spreading of it, you have to be very careful. Here are a couple easy ways to check for fake news.
Always check the source to see if it is credible. If it is not, then you know it is probably fake. It is also good to check for an author and a date on the
source. These are both good signs of a trustworthy source. One last thing to look out for is the grammar in the text. If there are bad spelling errors
and/or over excessive use of capital letters, then it is most likely fake news. Lots of fake news gets spread through social media. Websites and apps
such as facebook and twitter are probably the most known for this. People who do not know any better like little kids and adults with no knowledge
on how to spot it are the ones to most likely to spread and share it. Doing this means that lots and lots of people will see it throughout the internet and

Who Is Winston Smith A Hero
The journey of a hero usually begins with downfall and ends with success. However, with Winston it is the other way around, his journey starts at
success and ends with downfall. But that shouldn't unqualify him from being a hero. Winston Smith is the hero of the novel because he shows
courage, and has a strong mentality and he continuously looks past limitations. He basically was willing to do anything for what he believed in, an
example of this could be when he made a promise to O'Brien saying that he was going to do anything for the brotherhood even if it meant he had to
hurt children.
Winston could not defeat the Party, however he makes small acts which rebel against the party and by doing this he is trying to be a "leader" to show
the other members of the party that something needs to be done. He still proves that he is a questing hero through his courage, strong mentality and his
ability to look past his limitations.
Even though Winston did do some bad like telling setting the rats on Julia because of his fear and suddenly loving Big Brother at the end, which most
people consider hypocritical. But why not look at the positive? He repeatedly wrote "down with Big Brother", and he went about his love affair with
Julia which by the way he barely knew. He tries and see the party for what it is, and of course it certainly wasn't any good, he thinks very much and
philosophies a lot, but that certainly does not make his live better. He's a hero because he cares about the people who he sees around him, and he tries
to help them in the best way he can considering the fact that his health isn't so good. Just imagine what he was going through it must've been extremely
hard to mentally be going against something or someone when everyone else who surrounds supports them or the ideas that they represent.
A quote where Winston shows courage is "The first step had been a secret, involuntarythought; the second had been opening that diary. He had moved
from thoughts to words, and now from words to actions". He had the courage to attempt a dangerous path but it was unintentional. A quote where he
shows that he has a strong mentality is; "I think I exist," he said wearily. "I am conscious of my own identity. I was

Is Co-Education a Good Way Out?
Is the co–education arrangement a good idea?
Introduction: The ancient Greek philosopher, Plato, said that Co–education creates a feeling of comradeship. He advocated teaching of both the male
and female sexes in the same institution without showing any discrimination in imparting education.
In recent years, a growing number of parents are choosing to send their children to single sex school. Some parents don't want their children to be in
mixed–gender classrooms because at certain ages students of the opposite sex can be a distraction and most important of all entering single sex school
means the high academic achievement. Single–sex education is an old approach that is gaining its new momentum now.
Contrarily, a case on the point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Co–Education means the teaching of both boys and girls in the same school and under the same roof. It also means imparting the same education to
both the sexes without any distinction. This system of education aims at bringing boys and girls together. It allows free mixing of sexes without any
inhibition.
The first advantage that can be discussed is competition. When schools are mixed, the students compete to show who is more intelligent. Competition
provokes students to obtain higher marks, to create more ideas, and to excel in their studies. In addition, since there are some very shy students in the
class, competition will encourage them to overcome their shyness and try to compete so that they can make a difference in their study.
In addition to creating competition, coeducational schools also help increase students' self–confidence. When boys and girls attend the same
classroom, their self–confidence will increase. Every boy and girl will express him or herself more freely. This will strengthen the boy's and girl's
personality. Girls will be less shy in expressing their ideas. Boys will be less rushing in forcing their ideas. That will detect the hidden side in the
students' personality, and help them to determine what field they can innovate in the future.
The third advantage is co–operation between the two genders. Co–operation enriches the relationship between boys and girls. On the other hand, it
helps weaker students of

Being Good Is The Best Way To Deal With Conflict
Do you ever wonder how people get through tough situations? There are many ways–bravery, strength, family, friends, school, books, and ext.– but my
favorite is positivity. Staying positive is one of the best ways to deal with conflict. I'm going to prove this by citing quotes from Dear Miss Breed, I
am Malala, and Anne Frank.
First let's start with Deer Miss Breed ! One girl, Louise Ogawa, says "the most beautiful scenery was when crossing a bridge". This shows that even
though she's going through a tough stage, she still sees the beauty, even if it's surrounded by a scorching hot desert. The same girl also says "This is
a new experience for me", I believe when she say's that she sees it as a new adventure. So when going through conflict I suggest you stay positive and
see the beauty in the bleakness.
Second I'm telling you about Anne Frank and when the Jews ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, strength. In The Boy In Striped Pajamas Schmul shows strength by talking back to Lieutenant Kotler. When Schmul said "'No, sir. He
gave it to me."' Schmul continued to say "He's my friend." ,by saying that he admits a jew–Shmul– is friends with a German officer's son which is
against the law/rules. But that also goes to show he was being positive by thinking about Bruno (his friend).
Last I'm going to write about I am Malala, a girl named Malala shows that being positive is very good. She believed that education was the best
answer. She may of grown up poor, but she turned very wealthy when she stood for women rights. She used positivity when she got shot and survived.
She helped the world and stayed positive while doing so.
There are lots of ways to deal with conflict–bravery, strength, family, friends, school, books, and ext.– but I like to use positivity the most. I proved this
by citing from Dear Miss Breed, I am Malala, and Anne Frank ! What's your favorite way to deal with

Character Analysis Of Tambu's Story, 'InDeath'
Tambu's Nervous Condition "I was not sorry when my brother died" (pg. 1). From this opening line, we learn a plethora of information about
Tambu. She clearly does not have a positive relationship with her brother. Her emotional strength is another characteristic we can gather because
she has no emotional connection to her brother and can simply disregard everything that he ever did as soon as he is gone from the world. Tambu is
also not willing to follow societal norms for how one should deal with death, so Tambu is willing to upset established order and challenge it based on
what she believes. Every one of these characteristics can be derived from this one line on Tambu. She is a rather complex character and changes
drastically... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thankfully, Tambu has finally had enough of listening to her brother stating, "My concern for my brother died an unobtrusive death" (pg. 21).
Tambu does not engage with her brother, rather she simply decides to stop allowing him to have power over her. The lock of a conflict between her
brother is important because it conveys that Tambu truly is the one who has the power at this moment, because she can completely forget about her
brother and move on with her life. While trying to move on with her life, Tambu tries to earn enough money to start going to school and leads to a
fascinating encounter with an elderly couple. An elderly tells Tambu, "I know the Governor is doing a lot for the natives in the way of education" (pg.
29). This crucial moment highlights a critical issue facing Tambu, her race. She faces double imperialism by both being black and being awoman. The
elderly couple also diminishes her as a human being by referring to her as a native, as if having been born in the country is something to be ashamed
of. It is very similar to the way that Nhamo used language meant for a dog. Tambu cannot be treated just as a person who can do anything, so Tambu
struggles with how to overcome the seemingly insurmountable biases that people have against her. She also struggles with the impossible task of
facing imperialism. Her mother states, "They have been speaking nothing but English for so long that most of their Shona is gone" (pg.

Immature In To Kill A Mockingbird
Introduction: " You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view" Scout doesn't understand that yet. Until the
ending of the book she learns that speech Atticus gave her. (PARAGRAPH 1) R1: In the beginning of the novel To Kill a MockingBird, Lee's
character, Scout is an immature, loud–mouth tomboy. Evidence: An example that demonstrates Scout being immature is when she gets into a fight on
her first day of school, " Catching Walter Cunningham in the schoolyard gave me some pleasure, but when I was rubbing his nose in the dirt Jem
came by and told me to stop. Let him go, Scout. Why?. He didn't have any lunch" (30). Explanation: That's very Immature of Scout because first off,
who beats someone up because they don't have their lunch & second, why on the first day of school..? That's all childishness/Immature right their.
Evidence: An example of scout having a loud–mouth is when Scout asked Dill if he has a dad? " I asked Dill where his father was : You ain't said
anything about him. Is he dead? No . . . Then if he's not dead you've got one, haven't you?" (9). – talks too much , loud mouth. Explanation: Scout just
asking where Dill's father is at, when he literally just said " Ain't got one" is rude and just too much talk that's a loud mouth person. Evidence: A
way we can describe Scout a Tomboy is when... "Aunt Alexandra was fanatical on the subject of my attire. I could not possibly hope to be a lady if I
wore breeches; when I

Playing Sports Throughout Your Childhood
Sports can teach you many things about life and education without you even noticing it. Every sport has an effect on your education by the way you
interact with your teammates and coaches. The coaches are able to teach you new skills that will be useful in the future of your sport and life.
Constantly being around all these people help you learn new things that you probably had no idea about. The research we found shows that playing
sports throughout your childhood helps improve learning how to focus and how to adapt to real world situations that you might not be put through in the
educational world. Most people think that writing is just taught throughout school however sports and coaches play a major role in the way you write
as in getting taught different ways, learning new skills, and expanding your vocabulary. Sports are not just around to have some fun every once in
awhile. If you notice coaches act as some of the biggest literacy sponsors, someone who teaches and supports you literacy, you can have other than
your parents and teachers. In Natalie Gils's online article she talks about "The skills gained from doing sports, such as learning to focus and
improvise, could improve your academic performance" (Gils). As she explains in this quote, coaches teach these skills throughout your childhood
sports that can not be taught in a classroom by a teacher. When coaches teach a student on how to do something they are able to discipline you until
you get it right. Gils'

Easily Obtainable Information
In the age of cutting edge technology such as the world in which we live, easily obtainable information has turned out to be a mainstay in society. The
days of instant–gratification are upon us and waiting for any length of time since the advent of the Internet has become unacceptable in the
technological arena. Because information is so easily available, this gives pause to security and privacy of personal identifiable information. With
headlines screaming Identity Theft the disadvantages are clear. No longer can users post whatever they are thinking, doing, wearing, etc. without the
profound knowledge that each post is forever solidified forever on the World Wide Webfor anyone with an Internet connection to access. Those with
less technological knowledge have yet to grasp this concept and this unfortunately has caused harm to their personal lives and professional careers, in
some cases.
Advantages of Easily Obtainable Information
One point of preference of adequately realistic data is practicality. It is advantageous for individuals to be in one place and catch the most blazing news,
listen to the crisp top melodies on the announcement diagrams, watch and share the music recordings to those tunes, while in the meantime holding

Persuasive Essay About Homeless People
According to the website, dosomething.org, about 30,000 Americans die from suicide each year. Now, although we can't first hand stop someone
from harming themself, we can do our best to show people every single day that their life has meaning. You never know how many lives you can
save just by treating someone the correct way. It is very popular for kids and teenagers to say bad things about each other; most kids may even feel
like they have to say those things to be funny and have friends. This is one of the main problems we face today as kids. We think hate and bullying
is fun and almost feel forced to do so. Because everyone has just accepted it, it has been like that for a very long time and is only getting worst. Even
"good people" will do this now. This makes it very hard for a person who doesn't like to do these things to make friends. Therefore, we all just accept
it. Although this is an issue that really needs to be helped, there are many other causes like homeless people, natural disasters, and sick people that are
just as much in need of help. What can you do about it? Most people may hear these things and think there is no way for them to help. Believe it or
not, It is very easy to make a change. It may take getting a little bit out of your comfort zone, but, if doing that can help others, why wouldn't you? If
everyone just sits back in their comfort zone, things will only go downhill from here. There are a lot of things to be fixed; all it takes is one person

Importance Of Anne Frank's Way To Look For The Good In People
The kindness in our hearts "Darkness cannot drive out darkness;only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate;only love can do that."– Martin
Luther King Jr. Should you always look for the good in people? What if people have made a bad mistake, are they still good? Anne Frank always
believed in the good in the people and you should too. I will show you information to prove that Anne's way was right with the data I have
collected. What if you did something bad, wouldn't you want people to know you are still good? Would you want to be trusted again? It's best to
look for the good in people even when they have done something bad, to let them have a chance to be good. Nobody was born evil or bad, for example
Hitler wasn't born evil, it was his decision. Maybe Hitler couldn't ever be good but other people can if we just gave them a chance. Everyone was once

effort to punish those whom he held responsible for the loss, he was driven mad with power throughout the process. Although Ernst and Hitler came

IS ATTITUDE REALLY EVERYTHING?
Mindset is a frame of mind that collects our thoughts, way of thinking and habits. Our mindset is connected to our attitude and it is shaped by our
beliefs to pursue our dreams and everything we want to achieve in life. Positive mindset begets positive attitude. You will gain qualities that will help
you overcome obstacles and problems along the way. Persons with a fixed mindset think they are intelligent and talented enough to gain success even
without hard work and effort. On the other hand, persons with a growth–mindset improve on their abilities and talents through hard work and
dedication in order to be successful. And that is positive attitude.
Defining and describing a great attitude
A great attitude is often seen in the behavior and personality of a person; of how he/she interacts and builds relationship with others. A great attitude
helps you accomplish everything you want to accomplish. You'll gain comrades that will help you achieve your dreams. Why? Because attitude
defines your thinking and your behavioral acts to cope with others and everyone around you. Positive attitude leads to positive thinking; it will
motivate you to work hard to reach your goal.

What Makes A Good Way For Students?
1.By studying philosophy you are able to think outside of the box. Expand your imagination and gain knowledge of how other people see and have to
terms with the world around us. It is extremely interesting in trying to find the answers to questions that have been unanswered for hundreds of years.
It helps put many aspect of life in perspective and give life a greater meaning. It teaches you to understand how something takes place. A perfect
example would be taking an acetaminphen for a headache. You know that if you have a headache you automatically take an acetaminophen for the pain
however do not take into consideration the chemicals that are absorbed into you body to alter you sensitivity of your nerves to help stop the pain.
Philosophy is definitely the love for wisdom.
2.Thee Socratic Method is one of the oldest methods of thinking. It is when you ask a broad question in hopes to find the answer. I do believe that
this is a good way for students to learn because it requires more effort. It makes you strategize and think critically as aspects of the subject. The more
you ask the broader your think, the more information you find.
3.Critical thinking is essential in all aspects of learning. To me critical thinking is a way to analyze something from all points of views. It helps
evaluate an issue, be rational and objective, use all the information gathers to come to a conclusion. Philosophy is very complex and considered a
tremendous amount of critical thinking. It

Analysis Of To A Daughter Leaving Home By Linda Pastan
The author Linda Pastan, imagines a parent running breathlessly to regain her strength from the ending connection she once shared with her daughter
in her poem, "To a Daughter Leaving Home." It's a mother's biggest fear when it comes to their child or children leaving home while going their own
ways when the time is right. This poem is based on childhood, fatherhood, and even motherhood.
Linda Pastan made this poem include various forms of figurative language to hide the literal message that it's trying to portray. Figurative language is
using figures of speech to make the text be more powerful, persuasive, and meaningful. Figures of speech such as, similes and metaphors, go beyond
the literal meanings to give the readers a new way of looking at the text. It can come in multiple ways with different literacy and rhetorical devices
such as: alliteration, imageries, onomatopoeias, and etc. With the usage of the literary devices Pastan has used, it introduced the relationship between the
mother and the daughter. It shows the memories of how the mother helped her daughter grow from a little girl to a young adult getting ready to go her
own way in life.
Linda Pastan's poem, To a Daughter Leaving Home, is represented as a metaphor because it's comparing the bike ride to the relationship between the
mother and daughter. The author describes the mother going along side her eight year old daughter as she rides her bicycle (Pastan 915). The
daughter "wobbled away" (Pastan 915). This happens to be an example of imagery because it gives a visual description of how the daughter was
riding her bike. As she rides the bike further along, the mother gets surprised by the way the daughter seemed to be in control of the bike as she goes
down a "curved path of the park" (Pastan 915).
Besides giving a visual description Linda uses symbolism to symbolize life. The phrase a "curved path" represents life by it being joyous,
unpredictable, and dangerous. Life doesn't go in a straight line, just a curved one. Pastan's use of onomatopoeias in the poem allows the reader to hear
what is going on in the poem. For example, she used the words "thud" and "crash" to make the reader visualize the way the daughter rides the bike

Why Is It Okay To Be Different?
Imagine a world where people do not accept they are different and want to be the same as everyone else. If the people did not accept who they
were then that could lead to wanting to change everything about them just to fit in. It could also lead to one becoming to fake in who one wants to
be that one will get bullied for how they are trying to hard. The world should never come to this so the reason that it is okay to be different. Being
different is a chance to show people who really are. Even though being the same as everyone else can lead to less arguing and less bullying towards
people, people should be different because if not everyone would be the same which make the world uninteresting
In other words, no one is perfect. With nobody being perfect come mistakes and consequences that may impact one's life. The novel reveals "Someone

Personal Statement For The Support Group
Introduction For the support group that I led we planned on having it be focused around testimonies. I wanted for us each to be able to get to know
one another on a deeper level than we had, specifically spiritually. I thought that doing five minute testimonies was a good way to be able to get to
know one another better while still not making everyone divulge all of their life to people they are still getting to know and learning to trust. With the
testimonies theme, I wanted my icebreaker to lead into the importance of listening to our client's stories and using our story as a platform for Christ.
For my ending activity I wanted to lead into next support groups topic which we had decided would be about our current walk with the Lord.
Group goals
At our first support group we decided that our goals would stay the same each week. Our primary goal was to practice group facilitation and group
participation. Our sub goals were to support one another and get to know one another. We began our first support group with not really supporting
one another because there was no need for it; however, the second support group we supported one another as we shared about our families. The third
support group also got deeper in supporting one another as we talked about our high school experiences. The fourth group I felt that we did not
exercise the sub goal to support one another because it was more educational than supportive.
I was nervous going after we talked about stress because it

What Is My Favorite Word Essay
"Different"
I have a few words that I like and live by , but my favorite word is "different". It takes a lot to be yourself in a world that is constantly changing. I
love to see people who aren't afraid of being themselves! The ones who would rather lead the pack than follow. I think that God created us equally, but
with our own unique touch.
In this world, everyone comes from different cultures and backgrounds. The world is one big melting pot full of unique individuals. If we all were
the same life would be so boring and serve us no purpose. When you first meet someone, what is the first thing you notice about them? Is it the way

It says " The one who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd. Those who walk alone are likely to find themselves in places no
one has ever been before." It has been linked back to different people , the message is clear as day. It is a powerful quote that I think everyone
should read and live by. It's basically saying if you do not follow your own path it may cost you. It may not be the path that was meant for you. If
you take a leap of faith and use your own imagination you can go beyond your limits. The truth of it all is anyone can be different. Even identical
twins are different in some way. You will noticed the different personalities immediately. The world need more strong, positive leaders . We were all
put on this earth for a reason and we can all make a difference and be DIFFERENT.
My goal is to be an elementary teacher. My ultimate goal is to be able to make a difference with one class at a time. I hope that when I finally get

are comfortable and eager to show me their creativity. Different means having confidence in who you are. Do not lose your identity because you want

Personal Narrative : My Family Abroad
My Family Abroad The familiar sound of a trumpet filled the air, causing everyone to stop what they were doing. For the next one minute and nine
seconds "Retreat" and "To the Flag" plays over the loud speaker on our small post in Daegu, South Korea. Every soldier, seemingly entranced by
the song, held a salute. This happened every day at five o'clock on the dot to signal the end of the work day. As the sound of the trumpet trailed off
I dropped my salute and stood in formation alongside my friends waiting to be dismissed. Today was Friday, the beginning of the weekend. Once we
were finally released by our First sergeant I caught up with my friends; Brett, Chambers, and Treece, as they began to walk to their barracks. "Hey

During this time I made it a point to talk to my family on Skype or messenger, trying to devote at least 20 minutes to them. It was hard being gone
again, leaving my family behind. This was the second time I was stationed overseas, and compared to my first overseas tour, this place was
paradise. I spent my weekends trying to forget how much I missed my family by keeping myself busy with my friends. I emerged from my room a
new man, trading the camouflage uniform I had worn earlier in the day for a pair of American eagle jeans and a button up plaid shirt. "Looking
good, feeling good," I said to myself as I looked at my reflection in the mirror before I left. As I opened my door to step outside I was greeted by the
green and grey beauty of the mountains that surrounded the camp. I walked swiftly downhill, letting gravity do the work, to Brett's room. I stood
in front of a solid wood door and could hear conversation and laughter on the other side. I knocked anxiously, ready to get the evening started. As
the door swung open I was greeted by Brett's goofy smile and an ice cold beer. As I peeked further inside the room, I could see Treece and
Chambers talking in one of the bedrooms, lining the window sill with empty beer cans. Brett regained my attention when he asked "You ready to get
going?" In the most sarcastic way I knew how I exclaimed "Well, I guess I don't even get to have one

Figurative Language In Richard Cory By Edward Arlington...
The narrative poem "Richard Cory" written in 1897 by Edward Arlington Robinson. Depicts the fascinating life of a play boy protagonist who has a
perfect lifestyle and has everything that one could ever imagine, yet despite him being a out most perfect individual at the end of the story he commits
suicide. The poet was influenced with the interpretation towards how many individuals in this world can assume that those who are greater always
seem to have an outstanding life. As a young boy Robinson wrote to his dear friend at the age of six, questioning why he was born introducing a great
element to his poems because at a very young age his life was tremendously bleak. Throughout the story the poet utilizes various methods of figurative
language such as irony, point of view, and metaphors to introduce such elements of how life can be so great but despite it being great others can assume
that you're happy but no one really knows what you're enduring. In this paragraph the poet demonstrates the emotions that the residents feel when
they're around the protagonist. Robinson implies third person point of view as "we thought that he was everything. To make us wish that we were in
his place." allowing the readers to comprehend that the protagonist was more than just a typical normal resident in their neighborhood. Also conveying
that those who surrounded him were below their noble class that to them he was seen as "Clean favored, imperially slim." informing the readers that
he was seen as royalty. Despite the residents admiring his presence, he was always filled with a fluorescent personality. The poet introduces this
element "he fluttered pulses when he says, "Good–morning"" allowing the readers to understand that not just his physique was out standing but the
way he had proper manners to say "Goodmorning" to those that surrounded him. The poet allows the comprehension that the protagonist has always
been an outstanding individual.
Although the author describes the emotions that the residents have towards him they still envy him in the way that they describe him more then what
would be expected. Robinson utilizes metaphors "richer than a king" to allow the readers to comprehend that the protagonist was very

Identity Is Something We Search Essay
Identity
Identity is something we search for, something we want to find out about ourselves. We want to know what we are here for and what's our purpose.
Identity is the way one sees themselves and our identity is all we have that 's why we protect it and always are trying to make ours better than the
others. I believe college is a time where we find our identity, maybe we have an idea on what it is going to be and sometimes it takes us many years
to figure it out. In Daniel Marks experience his identity is going to take awhile for him to find if he doesn 't change his ways. Daniels "before" was
very rough, he was in trouble a lot. He said he felt like a failure to his father's standards. He enjoys partying very much, this has lead to him being a
poor student with a GPA below a 2.0. His study habits are very poor but he is planning on going to college. His advisor told him he would fail out
if he didn 't change his ways. After hearing all about daniel 's story I would categorize him into the "Diffusion" area. This is because he is just
simply doesn 't care, he lacks motivation and is only doing enough to barely get by. I can avoid all of these things by sticking to the things I've been
doing and to adjust and use the strategies we have learned in U100. In Monica 's story you hear about a lot of the things she was going through in her
first semester so it 's pretty relatable. She tells us about how her parents did not attend college, but she really wants to. She

The Importance Of Stereotyping In Society
A stereotype is a way to determine where a person or thing falls in the realm of life. Stereotyping is a natural part of life and it actually does have a
meaning in reality. It allows a person's mind to work properly and for the human brain to be able to recognize, process, store and then recall the
information when needed. Stereotyping is a big problem in society. It labels a person about how they should live or act according to their sex,
race, and personality. In all work forces it is a law to not discriminate against employees or other people in the facility. It can also be used in racial,
political, religious, and many more ways. Stereotyping in a racial way is judging people by the color of their skin, where they come from, or the
language they speak. Stereotyping can be a big issue in many professional businesses and environments. It can affect people's lives and the way of
doing things. Stereotypes also are creating a false idea of how people interact with other individuals. Many of the stereotypes children receive are
through media. People should be careful when stereotyping or just keep their thoughts to themselves. Stereotyping will never go away because it helps
humans to process information about things and people.

Reflection Paper About Reflection
Reflection Questions
Out of all the stories that I heard my favorite story was titled the Power Of Love . The author drew me in by using a precise date and setting and that
made me feel like I was there in that same setting. The way she detailed the setting and used a lot of the sense such as stating that the room she sat in
was cold and as the doctor talked to her it turned chilly.
The speaker used a lot of elements in her story, but one of the strongest elements that I found that would be extremely useful is how well she
developed the story and how it was organized. She did not over complicate the story and spoke very eloquently. The manner in which she carried the
story also made me understand her story easily and I would like to incorporate these elements in my story as well.
My biggest challenge with this project is going to be vocalizing my story in a strong manner, because when I get nervous I tend to mumble. I hope that
I do not mumble and that i convey my story clearly.
Before the story: My sister had a boyfriend, although she was not allowed to date. She would take me along with her so that no one would suspect
anything.
I would go with her under the condition that she would buy me my movie ticket and food.
How it began:
It all started when I was in the 7th grade.
My sister and I were going to go to the movies and as always I would be the one to wait on her, because she always took a long time getting ready. I
was laying on my bed and listening to music. As I was waiting for her I looked in the mirror. I then suddenly noticed I had a unibrow. Ever since the
fourth grade I was aware of that unibrow, but this time it was a scary one.
How it began:
I told myself do not worry no one will notice, but then i thought no your in middle school someone will notice. I then thought of another idea maybe I
will shave it, get rid of that unibrow.
That idea alone did not convince me so then I though maybe I should just get bangs and cut them right above my eyes and no one will even know.
Then my sister starts yelling at me to hurry up the irony of that statement when it was always me getting her in trouble for being late.
Climax: I decided that I was gonna be bold and I was going to shave

Is Television News Still A Good Way?
Is television news still a good way to obtain solid information? When it comes to television news, most people would agree that they believe they are
receiving good, reliable information. However, the media that the public sees and hears today is a lot different from what was reported about eighty
years ago, a time when Edward Murrow was covering World War II through the radio and sharing unbiasednews around the country. His honest
reporting allowed him to gain the trust of the audience and helped shape a path on how news should be reported. Nearly eighty years after Edward
Murrow's unbiased reports, an analysis using "The Elements of Journalism" was applied on K–ABC 11 o 'clock late night news. After three nights of
thoroughly studying K–ABC news, the data that was collected is far from what people may actually realize. Even though viewers may feel that by
watching a well–known network, like K–ABC, for their daily news is legitimate and truthful, the elements that Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel share
in "The Elements of Journalism" are almost completely absent. There is a filter amongst each television network that is shielding the public from need
to know news; during the three nights there was about five minutes of news coverage that is considered need to know information. The remainder
twenty–five to thirty minutes of the program was then divided into other subcategories: an average of five minutes on sport news, an average of eleven

Sport Marketing Is A Way For Companies To Sell Goods And
Sport marketing is a way for companies to sell goods and services at sporting events such as football, hockey and Nascar. With millions of viewers
at these sporting events, it makes for a great place to advertise for a company because they are sure to get some business from people who are
intrigued by some form of advertisement. These companies take a risk every time they spend money on advertisement, it is a large investment so
they could win it all and attract customers or they could lose it all due to poor advertisement. Nietzsche talks about "pushing oneself and others to go

He then goes on to explain how in our lives we need to experience some type of suffering, so that one can overcome the situation and learn from the
experience. Taking a risk can also benefit a person or company, because as Nietzsche explains you could do the same ordinary thing over and over
and play it safe or you can take the risk and experience the failure but then once you experience success it is the best feeling. If we do the same
thing over and over again it becomes dull and unentertaining, so by taking the risk its keeps you on the edge of your seat with a chance for either
failure or success. Both Bud and Nietzsche head towards their balls, Nietzsche swings first for the second hit and hooked his ball to the left of the
green, whereas Bud managed to hit his ball out of the gorse to the back of the green, leaving both golfers with difficult shots to the pin. Bud became
disappointed to three putt, leaving him with a bogey, the same as Nietzsche. Upset, Bud remembered Aristotle's belief in the golden mean: we shouldn't

Out Of My Mind, Wonder, And Mockingbird : Character Analysis
Counting by 7s' main character is Willow Chance, a little girl who has lost two sets of parents in her short life – she never knew her blood parents and
her adoptive ones die in a terrible accident. She is all alone in the world apart from Dell, a school counsellor whose therapy methods are completely

Willow is a special person: she is a 12–year–old genius, obsessed with nature and with diagnosing medical conditions and who has found it difficult to

The story is centred on Willow's specialness – despite her oddness she is extremely endearing and moves everybody around her that they all end up

Stereotypes/ The Glass Castle Stereotype plays a big part in today's society. In the Memoir "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls, others would easily

potential and were very well educated in their own ways. People need to live by the quote "Never judge a book by its cover" because you never know

The mother taught them that you should never judge someone by what you see or what you barely know. "Everyone has something good about
them," she said. "You have to find the redeeming quality and love the person for that." (144). This quote is an example of Jeannette's mother
telling them that no matter what you should never judge anyone no matter who they are. To look beyond what you see or have been told to see.
You never really know who someone is until you actually take the time to get to know them. The walls family moved from place to place and at
one point they stayed with their grandmother Erma. Their grandmother is a great example of some who stereotypes others. Erma had a real big
problem with African Americans. For reasons not explained she just hated them. Jeannette did not agree with her grandmother on this part, she had

who they are, everyone has something about them that makes them imperfect. "Also, most people in Welch had a pretty good idea how bad off the

My Favorite Teacher
"The purpose of education is to make good human beings with skill and expertise ... Enlightened human beings can be created by teachers." Said
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. I totally agree with him because teacher matters. Teachers can change someone's feeling or thinking by the way they teach
students. For example, I loving math is caused by my math teacher when I was in middle school. Teaching is really hard duty, so not everyone can
be a good teacher. The teacher who influenced me is Mrs. Suzan Pongratz because she is a creative teacher, encouraging students by offering
incentives them, and organizing in her class and that's made her class more ambiguous and dissimilar than others. English was the regretful class
until I met Mrs. Suzan Pongratz and changed my mind. I am yenning to go to her class every time without feeling bad or regret. She is a brilliant,
clever, helpful, creative and fun teacher. She achieved all the conditions that student need. She gave me the confidence by making me feel and think
positively all the time. Her encourage insights make me rethink my work to make it better. If I want to thank her, it would not be enough for working
with me hardly to make me improve and finish the class with best results. The way she is transferring the knowledge makes you interesting and want to
learn and know more about it. Challenges are the key to creative new things.
Mrs. Pongratz is the creative person by thinking in different. Creative is doing the same thing everyone else do, but in different thoughts and ways.
Like Einstein said, "Creativity is seeing what everyone else has seen, and thinking what no one else has thought." There was an article and has some
information on it, so she collected them and created a poetry to make the information easier for student to remember it in the way they are interested.
Also, she made a Kahoot game and made racing between two groups. She does a challenge between students as well. These games helped me to
remember better than I only study. She spread her excitement like a virus in the class with her surprises. She let the students focus by making them
moving around and encourage them.

Benefit Of Community Service
Benefits of Community Service Community service contributes to a community in the same way that quarterbacks, wide receivers, and offensive
linemen contribute to a football team. Without people helping out, there wouldn't be a way to score a touchdown or win a game. It is the same way in
helping out a community. The more people there are helping out, more homes would be built, more mouths would be fed, and more people would
have a happy life. Some people take for granted the clothes they have on their backs and the table they get to eat dinner at with their family. There are
plenty of people in communities that do not have a home to come to every night. There are plenty of people that do not have the clothes, food, or
money they need to survive. People are not the only thing that needs help in the community. Animal shelters are also one of many that could always use
an extra hand. Recycling and picking up trash is another way to help out. One of the best ways to contribute to the community is volunteering and
contributing time to helping others. Studies show that community service contributes to the emotional, mental, and physical well–being of people at
any age. The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) says in the year 2013, 138 million American adults volunteered. To break it
down, the CNCS found the following information: adults between the ages of 35–44 had the highest volunteer rate, adults between the ages 45–54 had

How Literacy Is Used As A Communication Method
When it comes to understanding literacy I learned that reading, along with writing is used as a communication method. However, there 's so much
more to it than just obtaining the knowledge of knowing how to read and write. It all truly depends on the way you use your skills in literature.
Literacy is different to each and every person, depending on who they are as a person. It can consist of your culture, pronunciation, the way you
dress, as well as all of your actions. That being said, personally literature means not only knowing how to read and write, but the way we approach it
as an individual. For example, we are judged by the way we speak, look, act, where we come from, as well as how we were raised. Which is all ... Show

something you could not just pass by. "good morning" was to be said every morning to everyone in the house along with a kiss otherwise it was a
form of disrespect. A hug was followed with every goodbye. Even though you could have been upset with a family member you were required to

something no one wants. My father always told me, since I was always a stubborn child, "forgiveness is not for the other person it is for you." At that

Of course there has not been a definition to the concept of the good life proven to be 100% accurate, but that doesn't stop people from believing in the
good life or trying to do those things that could guarantee them the good life. If philosophers can narrow down their argument over what the good life
truly means to three definitions, perfectionism, the Preference Theory, and hedonism, then of course there are more arguments out there on what the
good life truly means and what it takes to achieve it. Also, there are certainly real–life situations in the world that either challenge or support each of
these three definitions. One real–life situation that would put these definitions to the test is if something detrimental happened in a person's life that

"You must be Mr. Montresor, what a lovely man indeed."
"a–a–a–and you are." The nerves in my body were shocked, what is he doing, where are my parents, how does he know my name.
"Oh, pardon my rudeness, I am the Dawn White, the richest guy in town, also your parents lawyer."
I can just tell by the way he introduced himself this man wasn't good news. Why is he sitting all alone in my house?
"I didn't mean to fright you, young man–"
"The name is Montresor." I corrected.
"Montresor, I come here today with good news, your grandparents had sadly passed which I send my condolences. But because of their passing they
left you with their liberty, you can now enjoy their multimillion dollar home and royalty."
It was as if Dawn White's words were a blur. Am I dreaming? Is this all a prank? No, it couldn't be. Why would he just come out of nowhere to grant
us the biggest wish.
"Hello, Montresor? Are you okay?"
"Yeah, sorry sir." I stuttered.
"Your parents are in the process of moving, it is time for me to go now. Enjoy your new life."
As White slams the door shut, I couldn't help but replay the words "moving" in my head. How would Fortunato take this news? How would I take that
kind of news? There is only one way to find out.

educators often taught students how to develop ethical and moral character. With teaching those characteristics as a foundation they were able to teach
students to branch out and understand a deeper meaning of authenticity, virtue and value. All three of these concepts are required to live a meaningful
and balanced life in both the physical, mental and spiritual realms. I will be discussing how authenticity, virtue and values have affected my life,
along with how they affect my future. Secondly, I will be discussing how these principles have helped guide me through my life. Values, authenticity,
and virtues have an effect on a person from the time they were born and as they continue to age. Authenticity almost has a royal name to where it
must be respected and bowed to without question. In my book that is exactly how I think of being authentic; it is being real and genuine without any
deception. I could not think of a better way to work, communicate, love, or develop any type of relationship with unless they were honest and real.
Deception and liars are not people I set out to communicate with. I feel bad for the people who feel that they must deceive or hide who they are
because being you is much easier. Authenticity shapes my life because I am able to be genuine when working with others in my work environment.

Good Vs Evil : `` Something Wicked This Way Comes `` By...
Good Vs Evil
In the Novel "Something Wicked This Way Comes" by Ray Bradbury, the characters support the Universal Theme of "Good Vs Evil". The characters
are divided into two groups; those who act morally right and are good–hearted, and those who just do not seem to have any sense of empathy and are
blinded by selfishness and greed and choose to do harm for no other reason than the thrill of it. The protagonists face a series of battles with
themselves and their sense of who they are, as well as against the evil forces. This evilness is reflected on the carnival freaks who constantly use fear
and manipulation as a weapon to make all people egotistical and greedy, whereas our good characters utilize laughter, love and friendship to defeat the
evil that is acting upon them.
Our novel first introduces us to Jim and Will, two thirteen year old boys whom despite being described as complete opposites, are best friends. As the
novel progresses it becomes clear that the boys are good–hearted individuals alongside other characters such as Charles Halloway. In spite of having
goodness in them, they too, face evil battles within them. For instance, Jim Nightshade and Charles Halloway are fighting a battle within themselves
against age and their sense of acceptance with who they are. These weaknesses make them more susceptible to being influenced by the evil around
them as well as the evil that rests inside of them, but it 's their final choice that sets them apart from the evil

Good Ole American Way Essay

  • 1. Good Ole American Way Essay Good Ole American Way Though many feel that the American education system is a model of success, compared to the educational system of Finland, the American system is in dire need of reform. It is critical in development and social interaction (Rochman). Students should be able to go blow off steam, run around for a half hour, let out some energy halfway through their day. Recess can also teach young kids responsibility. If he or she gets in trouble, the school can take it away from them. This teaches children that their actions have consequences. It helps children practice conflict and resolution. "Play time benefits extend beyond the physical development in students but affects social, emotional and cognitive development," (Rochman). After they have a break, they will be more able to focus on their studies. Who doesn't need a break during the day? Most adults get an hour break in the middle of the day, most students get twenty... • 2. Exercise Is A Good And Normal Way For Lose Weight Did you know, the percent of adults who are obese in the United States is 34.9% now, and it was continually getting larger in the recent years (CDC)? What a surprise that more than 1 out of 3 adults are obese in our country. Obesity can cause various health problems, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, coronary heart disease, or even directly cause death. So, it is time to control and prevent obesity. Exercise is a good and normal way to lose weight, but Melinda Moyer discusses about another way, reducing the amount of carbs in people's daily lives. She leads readers to explore the relation between carbs–rich diet and obesity or chronic disease. Even though some other theories like low–fat diet were supported in the history, more facts and evidence prove that low–carbs diet is the best way to solve the problem. Moyer uses pathos, ethos and logos to persuade her audience to against carbs, and choose low–carb diet in her article "Against The Grains." Pathos is the strategy that is used in some sections of the article to appeal to audience's emotions. Moyer promptly attracts readers' attention by starting the article with her own experience of weight loss. She says she lost 15 pounds because of the wheat–free diet (Moyer 2). It may let readers (especially who are obese, and looking for an efficient way to lose their weight) excited about this fact, and curious about how and why wheat–free diet helps with weight loss. Then, the readers will go through the following content ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With industries such as publishing, the changes can become endless. Publishers try and find ways to get their ideas out into such a market for consumers to enjoy. Publishing companies started out small however as time continued so did the demand in products. The demand grew so much that the markets became so big so fast. Marketing and publishing can continue to date back together when trying to promote ideas. The marketer had to find someone to enjoy the ideas that the publisher wanted to promote. The early changes and develops of publishing are some of the only changes that continued to grow into todays markets Using your brain is something we all do day in and day out. This is a normal way of thinking about how we see the world. We tend to use what we see around us as reminders of what we want, or need to do. When publishers go about publishing a new book or new product they try and find someone who can use the information they are providing. Whether it is a true story or something strictly made up. We as humans have tendencies to use what we read and hear to promote some sort of desire we want. We can have many different ways of explaining what we see and what we gain. One of the best examples is from a "Derren Browns subliminal advertising". This is an actual video that shows two well–known advertisers from the from MBA firm being had by what they already knew. It explains how what we as humans see just driving down the street can have the biggest impact on what we draw. The two men were asked to draw an idea for a new poster for something they had never heard of. However when they were done the man showed them what he thought they would of drawn and it was almost identical. You ask why is this? • 4. Is It Better To Spot Fake News? Fake news can make you think differently towards many things, it can even change the way you think about an upcoming election or a new law. The way fake news gets spread around is simple. It gets shared over and over again on the internet and social media. There are some easy ways to spot fake news but sometimes it is not so easy to do so. Fake news can change the way we think and change our beliefs towards democracy in many ways. Many people believe everything they see and read on the internet. Most of the time they spread what they see and other people read and share it as well. But in order to spot fake news and stop the spreading of it, you have to be very careful. Here are a couple easy ways to check for fake news. Always check the source to see if it is credible. If it is not, then you know it is probably fake. It is also good to check for an author and a date on the source. These are both good signs of a trustworthy source. One last thing to look out for is the grammar in the text. If there are bad spelling errors and/or over excessive use of capital letters, then it is most likely fake news. Lots of fake news gets spread through social media. Websites and apps such as facebook and twitter are probably the most known for this. People who do not know any better like little kids and adults with no knowledge on how to spot it are the ones to most likely to spread and share it. • 5. Who Is Winston Smith A Hero The journey of a hero usually begins with downfall and ends with success. However, with Winston it is the other way around, his journey starts at success and ends with downfall. But that shouldn't unqualify him from being a hero. Winston Smith is the hero of the novel because he shows courage, and has a strong mentality and he continuously looks past limitations. He basically was willing to do anything for what he believed in, an example of this could be when he made a promise to O'Brien saying that he was going to do anything for the brotherhood even if it meant he had to hurt children. Winston could not defeat the Party, however he makes small acts which rebel against the party and by doing this he is trying to be a "leader" to show the other members of the party that something needs to be done. He still proves that he is a questing hero through his courage, strong mentality and his ability to look past his limitations. Even though Winston did do some bad like telling setting the rats on Julia because of his fear and suddenly loving Big Brother at the end, which most people consider hypocritical. But why not look at the positive? He repeatedly wrote "down with Big Brother", and he went about his love affair with Julia which by the way he barely knew. He tries and see the party for what it is, and of course it certainly wasn't any good, he thinks very much and philosophies a lot, but that certainly does not make his live better. He's a hero because he cares about the people who he sees around him, and he tries to help them in the best way he can considering the fact that his health isn't so good. Just imagine what he was going through it must've been extremely hard to mentally be going against something or someone when everyone else who surrounds supports them or the ideas that they represent. A quote where Winston shows courage is "The first step had been a secret, involuntarythought; the second had been opening that diary. He had moved from thoughts to words, and now from words to actions". He had the courage to attempt a dangerous path but it was unintentional. A quote where he shows that he has a strong mentality is; "I think I exist," he said wearily. "I am conscious of my own identity. I was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Is Co-Education a Good Way Out? Is the co–education arrangement a good idea? Introduction: The ancient Greek philosopher, Plato, said that Co–education creates a feeling of comradeship. He advocated teaching of both the male and female sexes in the same institution without showing any discrimination in imparting education. In recent years, a growing number of parents are choosing to send their children to single sex school. Some parents don't want their children to be in mixed–gender classrooms because at certain ages students of the opposite sex can be a distraction and most important of all entering single sex school means the high academic achievement. Co–Education means the teaching of both boys and girls in the same school and under the same roof. It also means imparting the same education to both the sexes without any distinction. This system of education aims at bringing boys and girls together. It allows free mixing of sexes without any inhibition. The first advantage that can be discussed is competition. When schools are mixed, the students compete to show who is more intelligent. Competition provokes students to obtain higher marks, to create more ideas, and to excel in their studies. In addition, since there are some very shy students in the class, competition will encourage them to overcome their shyness and try to compete so that they can make a difference in their study. In addition to creating competition, coeducational schools also help increase students' self–confidence. When boys and girls attend the same classroom, their self–confidence will increase. Every boy and girl will express him or herself more freely. This will strengthen the boy's and girl's personality. Girls will be less shy in expressing their ideas. Boys will be less rushing in forcing their ideas. That will detect the hidden side in the students' personality, and help them to determine what field they can innovate in the future. The third advantage is co–operation between the two genders. Co–operation enriches the relationship between boys and girls. On the other hand, it helps weaker students of ... • 7. Being Good Is The Best Way To Deal With Conflict Do you ever wonder how people get through tough situations? There are many ways–bravery, strength, family, friends, school, books, and ext.– but my favorite is positivity. Staying positive is one of the best ways to deal with conflict. I'm going to prove this by citing quotes from Dear Miss Breed, I am Malala, and Anne Frank. First let's start with Deer Miss Breed ! One girl, Louise Ogawa, says "the most beautiful scenery was when crossing a bridge". This shows that even though she's going through a tough stage, she still sees the beauty, even if it's surrounded by a scorching hot desert. The same girl also says "This is a new experience for me", I believe when she say's that she sees it as a new adventure. So when going through conflict I suggest you stay positive and see the beauty in the bleakness. Second I'm telling you about Anne Frank and when the Jews ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schmul continued to say "He's my friend." ,by saying that he admits a jew–Shmul– is friends with a German officer's son which is against the law/rules. But that also goes to show he was being positive by thinking about Bruno (his friend). Last I'm going to write about I am Malala, a girl named Malala shows that being positive is very good. She believed that education was the best answer. She clearly does not have a positive relationship with her brother. Her emotional strength is another characteristic we can gather because she has no emotional connection to her brother and can simply disregard everything that he ever did as soon as he is gone from the world. Tambu is also not willing to follow societal norms for how one should deal with death, so Tambu is willing to upset established order and challenge it based on what she believes. Tambu does not engage with her brother, rather she simply decides to stop allowing him to have power over her. The lock of a conflict between her brother is important because it conveys that Tambu truly is the one who has the power at this moment, because she can completely forget about her brother and move on with her life. While trying to move on with her life, Tambu tries to earn enough money to start going to school and leads to a fascinating encounter with an elderly couple. An elderly tells Tambu, "I know the Governor is doing a lot for the natives in the way of education" (pg. 29). This crucial moment highlights a critical issue facing Tambu, her race. She faces double imperialism by both being black and being awoman. The elderly couple also diminishes her as a human being by referring to her as a native, as if having been born in the country is something to be ashamed of. It is very similar to the way that Nhamo used language meant for a dog. Tambu cannot be treated just as a person who can do anything, so Tambu struggles with how to overcome the seemingly insurmountable biases that people have against her. She also struggles with the impossible task of facing imperialism. Her mother states, "They have been speaking nothing but English for so long that most of their Shona is gone" (pg. ... Now, although we can't first hand stop someone from harming themself, we can do our best to show people every single day that their life has meaning. You never know how many lives you can save just by treating someone the correct way. It is very popular for kids and teenagers to say bad things about each other; most kids may even feel like they have to say those things to be funny and have friends. This is one of the main problems we face today as kids. We think hate and bullying is fun and almost feel forced to do so. Because everyone has just accepted it, it has been like that for a very long time and is only getting worst. Even "good people" will do this now. This makes it very hard for a person who doesn't like to do these things to make friends. Therefore, we all just accept it. Although this is an issue that really needs to be helped, there are many other causes like homeless people, natural disasters, and sick people that are just as much in need of help. What can you do about it? Most people may hear these things and think there is no way for them to help. Believe it or not, It is very easy to make a change. It may take getting a little bit out of your comfort zone, but, if doing that can help others, why wouldn't you? It is extremely interesting in trying to find the answers to questions that have been unanswered for hundreds of years. It helps put many aspect of life in perspective and give life a greater meaning. It teaches you to understand how something takes place. • 18. Analysis Of To A Daughter Leaving Home By Linda Pastan The author Linda Pastan, imagines a parent running breathlessly to regain her strength from the ending connection she once shared with her daughter in her poem, "To a Daughter Leaving Home." It's a mother's biggest fear when it comes to their child or children leaving home while going their own ways when the time is right. This poem is based on childhood, fatherhood, and even motherhood. Linda Pastan made this poem include various forms of figurative language to hide the literal message that it's trying to portray. Figurative language is using figures of speech to make the text be more powerful, persuasive, and meaningful. Figures of speech such as, similes and metaphors, go beyond the literal meanings to give the readers a new way of looking at the text. It can come in multiple ways with different literacy and rhetorical devices such as: alliteration, imageries, onomatopoeias, and etc. With the usage of the literary devices Pastan has used, it introduced the relationship between the mother and the daughter. It shows the memories of how the mother helped her daughter grow from a little girl to a young adult getting ready to go her own way in life. Linda Pastan's poem, To a Daughter Leaving Home, is represented as a metaphor because it's comparing the bike ride to the relationship between the mother and daughter. The author describes the mother going along side her eight year old daughter as she rides her bicycle (Pastan 915). The daughter "wobbled away" (Pastan 915). This happens to be an example of imagery because it gives a visual description of how the daughter was riding her bike. As she rides the bike further along, the mother gets surprised by the way the daughter seemed to be in control of the bike as she goes down a "curved path of the park" (Pastan 915). Besides giving a visual description Linda uses symbolism to symbolize life. The phrase a "curved path" represents life by it being joyous, unpredictable, and dangerous. Life doesn't go in a straight line, just a curved one. Pastan's use of onomatopoeias in the poem allows the reader to hear what is going on in the poem. For example, she used the words "thud" and "crash" to make the reader visualize the way the daughter rides the bike (Pastan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Depicts the fascinating life of a play boy protagonist who has a perfect lifestyle and has everything that one could ever imagine, yet despite him being a out most perfect individual at the end of the story he commits suicide. The poet was influenced with the interpretation towards how many individuals in this world can assume that those who are greater always seem to have an outstanding life. As a young boy Robinson wrote to his dear friend at the age of six, questioning why he was born introducing a great element to his poems because at a very young age his life was tremendously bleak. Throughout the story the poet utilizes various methods of figurative language such as irony, point of view, and metaphors to introduce such elements of how life can be so great but despite it being great others can assume that you're happy but no one really knows what you're enduring. In this paragraph the poet demonstrates the emotions that the residents feel when they're around the protagonist. Robinson implies third person point of view as "we thought that he was everything. To make us wish that we were in his place." allowing the readers to comprehend that the protagonist was more than just a typical normal resident in their neighborhood. Also conveying that those who surrounded him were below their noble class that to them he was seen as "Clean favored, imperially slim." informing the readers that he was seen as royalty. Despite the residents admiring his presence, he was always filled with a fluorescent personality. The poet introduces this element "he fluttered pulses when he says, "Good–morning"" allowing the readers to understand that not just his physique was out standing but the way he had proper manners to say "Goodmorning" to those that surrounded him. The poet allows the comprehension that the protagonist has always been an outstanding individual. The author drew me in by using a precise date and setting and that made me feel like I was there in that same setting. The way she detailed the setting and used a lot of the sense such as stating that the room she sat in was cold and as the doctor talked to her it turned chilly. The speaker used a lot of elements in her story, but one of the strongest elements that I found that would be extremely useful is how well she developed the story and how it was organized. She did not over complicate the story and spoke very eloquently. The manner in which she carried the story also made me understand her story easily and I would like to incorporate these elements in my story as well. My biggest challenge with this project is going to be vocalizing my story in a strong manner, because when I get nervous I tend to mumble. I hope that I do not mumble and that i convey my story clearly. Before the story: My sister had a boyfriend, although she was not allowed to date. She would take me along with her so that no one would suspect anything. I would go with her under the condition that she would buy me my movie ticket and food. How it began: It all started when I was in the 7th grade. My sister and I were going to go to the movies and as always I would be the one to wait on her, because she always took a long time getting ready. I was laying on my bed and listening to music. As I was waiting for her I looked in the mirror. I then suddenly noticed I had a unibrow. Ever since the fourth grade I was aware of that unibrow, but this time it was a scary one. How it began: I told myself do not worry no one will notice, but then i thought no your in middle school someone will notice. I then thought of another idea maybe I will shave it, get rid of that unibrow. That idea alone did not convince me so then I though maybe I should just get bangs and cut them right above my eyes and no one will even know. Then my sister starts yelling at me to hurry up the irony of that statement when it was always me getting her in trouble for being late. His honest reporting allowed him to gain the trust of the audience and helped shape a path on how news should be reported. Nearly eighty years after Edward Murrow's unbiased reports, an analysis using "The Elements of Journalism" was applied on K–ABC 11 o 'clock late night news. After three nights of thoroughly studying K–ABC news, the data that was collected is far from what people may actually realize. Even though viewers may feel that by watching a well–known network, like K–ABC, for their daily news is legitimate and truthful, the elements that Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel share in "The Elements of Journalism" are almost completely absent. There is a filter amongst each television network that is shielding the public from need to know news; during the three nights there was about five minutes of news coverage that is considered need to know information. The remainder twenty–five to thirty minutes of the program was then divided into other subcategories: an average of five minutes on sport news, an average of eleven and a half minutes dedicated to ... With millions of viewers at these sporting events, it makes for a great place to advertise for a company because they are sure to get some business from people who are intrigued by some form of advertisement. These companies take a risk every time they spend money on advertisement, it is a large investment so they could win it all and attract customers or they could lose it all due to poor advertisement. He then goes on to explain how in our lives we need to experience some type of suffering, so that one can overcome the situation and learn from the experience. Taking a risk can also benefit a person or company, because as Nietzsche explains you could do the same ordinary thing over and over and play it safe or you can take the risk and experience the failure but then once you experience success it is the best feeling. If we do the same thing over and over again it becomes dull and unentertaining, so by taking the risk its keeps you on the edge of your seat with a chance for either failure or success. Both Bud and Nietzsche head towards their balls, Nietzsche swings first for the second hit and hooked his ball to the left of the green, whereas Bud managed to hit his ball out of the gorse to the back of the green, leaving both golfers with difficult shots to the pin. Bud became disappointed to three putt, leaving him with a bogey, the same as Nietzsche. He wasn't the type of person who agreed with the peaceful protest and many activists didn't agree with his standing about fighting back against oppression but he still tried to make life better for Afro–americans. • 32. Stereotypes/ the Glass Castle Essay Final Draft Stereotypes/ The Glass Castle Stereotype plays a big part in today's society. In the Memoir "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls, others would easily misjudge Jeannette's family just by their image and the way they lived their life. Although they lived the way they did the walls family had much potential and were very well educated in their own ways. People need to live by the quote "Never judge a book by its cover" because you never know who they are until you meet them. In todays society people tend to stereotype others in many ways. "You have to find the redeeming quality and love the person for that." (144). This quote is an example of Jeannette's mother telling them that no matter what you should never judge anyone no matter who they are. To look beyond what you see or have been told to see. You never really know who someone is until you actually take the time to get to know them. The walls family moved from place to place and at one point they stayed with their grandmother Erma. Their grandmother is a great example of some who stereotypes others. Erma had a real big problem with African Americans. For reasons not explained she just hated them. Jeannette did not agree with her grandmother on this part, she had always been brought up to love others no matter whom they were. The walls family grew up with a lot of knowledge book wise and streetwise. They more then you would think by just looking at them and the way they lived. No matter how bad off the walls family seemed to be they always seemed to be living good and happy how they were. In the end people who judge are probably being judged themselves. • 33. My Favorite Teacher "The purpose of education is to make good human beings with skill and expertise ... Enlightened human beings can be created by teachers." Said A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. I totally agree with him because teacher matters. Teachers can change someone's feeling or thinking by the way they teach students. For example, I loving math is caused by my math teacher when I was in middle school. Teaching is really hard duty, so not everyone can be a good teacher. The teacher who influenced me is Mrs. Suzan Pongratz because she is a creative teacher, encouraging students by offering incentives them, and organizing in her class and that's made her class more ambiguous and dissimilar than others. English was the regretful class until I met Mrs. Suzan Pongratz and changed my mind. I am yenning to go to her class every time without feeling bad or regret. She is a brilliant, clever, helpful, creative and fun teacher. She achieved all the conditions that student need. She gave me the confidence by making me feel and think positively all the time. Her encourage insights make me rethink my work to make it better. If I want to thank her, it would not be enough for working with me hardly to make me improve and finish the class with best results. The way she is transferring the knowledge makes you interesting and want to learn and know more about it. Challenges are the key to creative new things. Mrs. Pongratz is the creative person by thinking in different. Creative is doing the same thing everyone else do, but in different thoughts and ways. Like Einstein said, "Creativity is seeing what everyone else has seen, and thinking what no one else has thought." There was an article and has some information on it, so she collected them and created a poetry to make the information easier for student to remember it in the way they are interested. Also, she made a Kahoot game and made racing between two groups. She does a challenge between students as well. These games helped me to remember better than I only study. • 34. Benefit Of Community Service Benefits of Community Service Community service contributes to a community in the same way that quarterbacks, wide receivers, and offensive linemen contribute to a football team. Without people helping out, there wouldn't be a way to score a touchdown or win a game. It is the same way in helping out a community. The more people there are helping out, more homes would be built, more mouths would be fed, and more people would have a happy life. Some people take for granted the clothes they have on their backs and the table they get to eat dinner at with their family. There are plenty of people in communities that do not have a home to come to every night. There are plenty of people that do not have the clothes, food, or money they need to survive. People are not the only thing that needs help in the community. Animal shelters are also one of many that could always use an extra hand. Recycling and picking up trash is another way to help out. One of the best ways to contribute to the community is volunteering and contributing time to helping others. Studies show that community service contributes to the emotional, mental, and physical well–being of people at any age. The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) says in the year 2013, 138 million American adults volunteered. To break it down, the CNCS found the following information: adults between the ages of 35–44 had the highest volunteer rate, adults between the ages 45–54 had the second highest, and one in ... However, there 's so much more to it than just obtaining the knowledge of knowing how to read and write. It all truly depends on the way you use your skills in literature. Literacy is different to each and every person, depending on who they are as a person. It can consist of your culture, pronunciation, the way you dress, as well as all of your actions. I was taught manners by my parents, greetings were something you could not just pass by. "good morning" was to be said every morning to everyone in the house along with a kiss otherwise it was a form of disrespect. A hug was followed with every goodbye. Even though you could have been upset with a family member you were required to forgive them and let the past stay in the past. Mainly because you never know if you are going to see them tomorrow, living with regret is something no one wants. My father always told me, since I was always a stubborn child, "forgiveness is not for the other person it is for you." • 39. How Values And Values Have Affected My Life From the beginning of time, ancient philosophers and educators have taught different life developmental skills to aid people as they grow. Those educators often taught students how to develop ethical and moral character. With teaching those characteristics as a foundation they were able to teach students to branch out and understand a deeper meaning of authenticity, virtue and value. All three of these concepts are required to live a meaningful and balanced life in both the physical, mental and spiritual realms. I will be discussing how authenticity, virtue and values have affected my life, along with how they affect my future. Secondly, I will be discussing how these principles have helped guide me through my life. Values, authenticity, and virtues have an effect on a person from the time they were born and as they continue to age. Authenticity almost has a royal name to where it must be respected and bowed to without question. In my book that is exactly how I think of being authentic; it is being real and genuine without any deception. I could not think of a better way to work, communicate, love, or develop any type of relationship with unless they were honest and real. Deception and liars are not people I set out to communicate with. I feel bad for the people who feel that they must deceive or hide who they are because being you is much easier. Authenticity shapes my life because I am able to be genuine when working with others in my work environment. According to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Good Vs Evil : `` Something Wicked This Way Comes `` By... Good Vs Evil In the Novel "Something Wicked This Way Comes" by Ray Bradbury, the characters support the Universal Theme of "Good Vs Evil". The characters are divided into two groups; those who act morally right and are good–hearted, and those who just do not seem to have any sense of empathy and are blinded by selfishness and greed and choose to do harm for no other reason than the thrill of it. The protagonists face a series of battles with themselves and their sense of who they are, as well as against the evil forces. This evilness is reflected on the carnival freaks who constantly use fear and manipulation as a weapon to make all people egotistical and greedy, whereas our good characters utilize laughter, love and friendship to defeat the evil that is acting upon them. Our novel first introduces us to Jim and Will, two thirteen year old boys whom despite being described as complete opposites, are best friends. As the novel progresses it becomes clear that the boys are good–hearted individuals alongside other characters such as Charles Halloway. In spite of having goodness in them, they too, face evil battles within them. For instance, Jim Nightshade and Charles Halloway are fighting a battle within themselves against age and their sense of acceptance with who they are. These weaknesses make them more susceptible to being influenced by the evil around them as well as the evil that rests inside of them, but it 's their final choice that sets them apart from the evil ...
