2. Kapampangan Teens on Mall Preference
Kapampangan Teens on Mall Preference: SM Pampanga versus Robinsons Starmills
(Qualitative) The research focuses on the preferences of Kapampangan teens to SM Pampanga
over Robinsons Starmills. The group chose to focus on teens (13 19 years old of both genders)
because: (1) they tend to be heavy users of shopping malls (Baker and Haytko, 2000), (2) they
spend disproportionately larger money in those in which they have a high degree of interest and
involvement (McCasland, 2004), (3) they have more purchasing power because of continuous
financial support from their families and lesser financial responsibilities, (4) there is little research
conducted on teen mall preferences (Baker and Haytko, 2000). It is well known that teens have the

Teens like to “hang out” at malls and meet their friends (Baker Haytko 2000).
Indeed, visiting and shopping with friends are major activities for teens. Talking to other shoppers
and enjoying the crowd are surprising preferences of customers (Kang et al., 1999). The
friendliness and conduciveness of the mall to these activities affects the level the mall spending on
the part of the teens. Meeting and spending time with friends makes a difference in mall choice
(Wang et. al., 2000). The physical appearance of the mall also contributes to mall preferences.
These include availability of unique store design, good air quality and lightning, temperature,
spaciousness of internal layout, cleanliness, and even ease of finding car parking lot (Ibrahim et
al., 2002). Other factors that influence the mall environment perceptions are fashion, clean,
organization, reflection of local culture, appeal, sensible, and function (Kinley et al., 2003). Having
adequate aisles and easy to follow layout positively adds to mall choice (Keep et. al., 1995; Ibrahim
et. al., 2002). Interestingly, they also found differential influence from the environmental factors on
excitement and desire to stay. Likewise, (Wee, 2002, cited from Dawson, Bloch, and Ridgway,
1990) stated that some consumers have experiential motives for shopping which result from
hedonic or recreational motivations. Through a survey of visitors, the results clearly

3. Theme Of Courage In Beowulf
In the epic poem, Beowulf, the main character, Beowulf, can be seen as one of the most prime and
pure examples of an epic hero due to his almighty courage. What is an epic hero without courage?
Well, not a epic hero at all. Beowulf has the superhuman strength, glory and fame, but he cannot
embody those characteristics if he does not have courageto drive him primarily. Initially, the reader
can get a taste of Beowulfepicness when he heavily boasts about his battle at sea with Breca. Due
to jealousy, Unferth calls him out for his loss in the thrashing waves, yet Beowulf shows no
embarrassment and even exploits Unferth for his lack of braveness as he claims, The fact is,
Unferth, if you were truly as keen and courageous as you claim to be, Grendelwould never have
gotten away with such unchecked atrocity, attacks on your king, havoc in Heorot and horror
everywhere (Heaney 590 594). He makes it clear that no one can deteriorate or match the courage
that he beholds. While he the battle is brought up, Beowulf states that Often, for undaunted
courage, fate spares a man that it has not already marked (572 573). This is inferring that if one
hasn t died yet due to fate, they can continue living their life through courage. This foreshadows
the mindset of Beowulf and how he holds the theory of bravery close in his morals. As Beowulf
goes on to explain this rigorous battle, he claims that not only did he swim for seven days in full
armor, but also nonchalantly slayed nine sea

4. The Luxor Temple And Saint Peter s Basilica
I.OVERVIEW
The two pieces of art that I have chosen to compare are The Luxor Temple located in Luxor,
Egypt and Saint Peter s Basilica located within Vatican City of Rome, Italy. The ancient design has
fostered some of its styles and characteristics into future generations, and also upheld the mysteries
of phenomenal architecture over the centuries. I believe the Luxor Temple and Saint Peter s
Basilica are good pieces for comparison. The details and the architectural features between both of
these great Arts show ingenuity, symmetry, geometry and balance from two very diverse time
periods. The aspects of their values, religious beliefs, culture, and mythology play key roles in the
beliefs of both timepieces of Art. The architectural medium is not only impressive, but it is
captivating to the eye as well. One can only marvel at the unique wonders of ancient civilization.

6. Response To Rosemary s Flattery
Rosemary s response to the shopkeeper s flattery shows that Rosemary needs attention and
flattery to boost up her self confidence. Although Rosemary knows the flattery might be
insincere, she needs it and enjoys it. Rosemary likes this store because the shopkeeper gives her
his undivided attention. The shopkeeper makes Rosemary feel special and not insecure about her
looks. The shopkeeper s flattery is because he knows that she is wealthy and only wants to sell
his items to who appreciate them, I love my things. I would rather not part with them than sell
them to someone who does not appreciate them... The flattery and compliments that she receives
helps with her insecurity over her beauty. Rosemary invites Miss Smith to dinner to show her
own friends that she can be selfless and help others. This impression was not to help the poor
lower class girl, Miss Smith, but only performing this act of kindness to better her image to others.

8. A Brief Look at Field Hockey
There are hundreds of sports that are played all around the world; they are played outdoors,
indoors, and even underwater. One of these sports is hockey; hockey is played in a few ways,
street, floor, ice, and field. Although not widely televised, field hockey is popular in Canada, the
United States, Eastern Europe and regions where ice hockey is most popular. It is played in about
112 countries and is known to be one of the top six athletic teams in the world. Though the origin of
field hockeyis unknown, drawings about 4,000 years old have depicted men playing a like
version of hockey in the Beni Hasan Tombs of Egypt. Field hockey is believed to be around for
about 4,000 years; after periods of time, hockey evolved to how it is played today. In the middle
ages, hockey was very popular all around Europe, it was played in different ways and each
region had a different name for it. There were many people who were a fan of the sport, but
there were also people who hated it. In the 1300 s King Edward III of England passed a
proclamation to ban the playing of hockey along with a few other intense sports. In addition to
the banning of the sport, women weren t always allowed to play field hockey, it was considered
too intense and dangerous for women to handle until the late 1800 s when it was first introduced to
British Universities. In the early 1900 s a physical education teacher by the name of Constance
M.K. Applebee introduced field hockey to the United States. Field Hockey

I am Qingjun Wang, currently a senior at Hunan University, majoring in Electronic Engineering.
Began my journey into the field by studying in Physics and Microelectronics department of

topic, which I am very much interested in, led me to excel in my program, earning me a GPA of

During my freshman year at university, I implemented a system based on C programming
language of student cards, which is was suitable for consumption and helped the system with
complete functions. During this time, I was very new to the world of physics and did not have
relevant experience and because of this inexperience, I found that the most complex and
challenging part of the project was coordinating all the C++ Source Files and making sure that
they work together as a Win32 Console Application. To try to resolve these hurdles, I bombarded
myself with books and articles that guided me through the process of building my desired
application, spending 8 days studying in the library during the summer semester to ensure that I
build the best one possible. Although it was very challenging, I pushed myself to start by

11. Similarities Between King Lear And Catcher In The Rye
The truth of one s character can be expressed through his or her own thoughts, actions, and
words. Respectively, one s downfall is embodied by his or her own character. In William
Shakespeare s King Lear, Lear s character is depicted as one who descends into madness as a
result of his irrational actions early in the play. Similarly, Holden Caulfield, from J.D Salinger s
The Catcher in the Rye, enters the coming of age process; however, his behaviour illustrates his
ongoing cynicism and depression. The reasons behind Learand Holden s downfall exist in the
physical, social and psychological flaws they inherit as tragic heroes. Both individuals suffer
immensely from their unreasonable actions from ill considered decision making, their inability to
maintain genuine relationships with others, and the psychological conflict within them.
Although both protagonists come from contrasting statuses and time periods, Lear and Holden
are alike in the way that they make arbitrary decisions, thus, breeding foolish actions. As a king,
Lear carries himself with great pride and dignity; however, it is this power that clouds his vision
in making well thought out decisions. In the beginning of the play, Lear decides to divide his
kingdom into three a section for each daughter. The scene ends unsuccessfully with Cordelia and
Kent being banished Lear. When Lear asks his daughters who love him the most, he sees Cordelia
s response as rejection compared to the responses of Goneril and Regan.

12. Comparing Homer s Iliad With Wolfgang Petersen s Film...
In my response I am going to compare Homer s Iliad with Wolfgang Petersen s film Troy. The
points I am going to compare are the fight between Paris and Menelaus, the role of the gods, the
death of Patroclus and the fight between Hector and Achilles. The Iliad is an epic poem consisting
of 23 books by Homer, which focuses on 50 days in the ninth year of the Trojan War
, whereas the
movie Troy directed by Wolfgang Petersen tells the whole 10 year story of the myth. The Trojan
War happened in the Bronze Age and was a war between the Mycenaean Greece kingdom and the
kingdom of Troy. Homers Iliadis believed to be one of the first works of western literature and was
set 500 years earlier than the time in which he lived. The Iliad is to be listened to, not read,
unless you are the poet performing the epic. The poet would chant or sing the Iliad while being
accompanied by lyre, to help tell the story. It had a set rhythm and metre in each line of the
poem, which the poet had to follow but it is lost in translation as its original written language is
Ancient Greek. The film Troy was released on the 14th May 2004 and is loosely based on the Iliad.
Brad Pitt, who was 40 years old during the making of this movie, and stars as Achilles. The ending
of the film is not from the Iliad but from Virgil s Aeneid, as the Iliad ends with Hectors death and
funeral.

17. Essay On Ergotism In Salem
Ergotism in Salem?
American history is filled with amazing events of settling and exploring new lands and frontiers
while forging a new nation that would be resilient when challenged. However, the year 1692
America witnessed a tragedy when the new occupants and immigrants of Salem were faced with
accusations of witchcraft. The subject of the Salem witchcraft trials has been portrayed in
contemporary fictional works such as dramas and novels and even major motion pictures. This
period of American history has certainly stood the test of time and continues to gather interest and
fascinate American history buffs. In order to understand how ergot poisoning was responsible for
the Salem witchcraft trials, one must examine the growing conditions of ergot, the symptoms of
ergot and the victims and examine the colony and the trials.
First of all, to understand the ergot poisoning case in Salem one must understand the growing
conditions and what grains ergot can infect. Ergot can infect many cereal grains, most important is
rye because that is the main crop they grew in salem. The climates needed for ergot to grow are
warm, damp, rainy, and summer time (Caporael). Ergot invades the developing kernels of the grain

18. The Impact Of Organizational Change On Change Management
Introduction
Change is a phenomenon which is inevitable in every aspect of human life and it is always
constant despite the fact that people do resist change due to some reasons. Organizational change is
also a phenomenon which cannot be avoided by organization, because internal and external factors
exist which can cause an organization to change. According to Mills an et al (2008) organization
change can be defined as an alteration of a core aspect of an organization s operations. Theses core
aspects involve culture of the company, the technology used or the structure of the organization.
This report will evaluate the impact of organizational changes.
Change Management
The change Management function will assess the nature and magnitude of the change as a result
of the change programme and who it will affect. In parallel to this, the team should put in place
measures to assess how ready people are for the change. As an output of the change readiness
assessments, and any areas of the organisation who look to be particularly resistant to change or
are facing a significant volume of change can be given specific focus. The readiness to change will
be measured across the project lifecycle to monitor and track the sentiment of the organisation.
Policies and Procedures against the Strategic Plan
Once reviewed, policies which had been developed in response to meeting the requirements of the
strategic plan must b reviewed to identify those that require change. The time taken

21. Buffers Lab
Buffers are solutions that resist change in pH when small amounts of strong acids or bases are
added to it. Adding a strong acid to a solution would decrease its pH as seen in fig 2 and adding
weak base would increase its pH as seen in fig. 3. One good use of buffers in a biology field is that
buffers control the pH in order for the cells to live in a livable environment. If the cell is too
basic it releases H+ ions into the cells and if its too acidic the buffer releases OH . Therefore,
buffers inside and outside the cells help maintain the pH in the cytoplasm because if the pH is not
applicable in the cell, the cell dies. To recap buffers in the cells, help to maintain an ideal
environment for biochemical reactions to take place.

meaning that the probe was calibrated precisely in order to have a pH reading of the prepared
solution as close as possible to the predicted ph. When we used the hasselbach equation for the
predicted pH we were provided with a pKa of 7.18, looking at graph 1 at the intercept of each line,
the pKa of the measured pH is 7.195 and the predicted pH has a pKa value of 7.18, rounding
those values to one decimal place we get a pKa value of 7.2 for both and that is spot on compared
to the provided pKa for the Henderson hasselbach equation. Looking at the graph, we can conclude
that as pH increases the concentration of acid/base increases

22. Green Phytoplankton Research Paper
New studies have shown that the tiny, little sea creatures known as plankton can have a huge
impact on the atmosphere and could even help cool the earth. The Southern Ocean (https:/
/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Ocean) has nearly no human influence enacted upon it, therefore
making it a perfect isolated area for scientists and researchers to study. The new revelation could
lead to a better way to help combat global warming.
The Green Phytoplankton
Green phytoplankton (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phytoplankton) get their color from
chlorophyll, the chemical that makes plants green as well as lets them absorb sunlight. The
byproduct of the plankton s absorption of sunlight is a chemical compound called dimethyl sulfide.
This compound gets released by the plankton and is then turned into a sort of sulfate aerosol that
rises into the atmosphere. This particular aerosol attracts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

How Rain can cool the Earth
Rain falls when clouds contain so much moisture that they can t hold anymore and force it down to
the ground. While all the moisture is still in the cloud, though, it acts as a sort of deflector for
sunlight. Each individual drop of water that is in a cloud catch the sunlight, and therefore the solar
radiation, and keep it from coming through to the earth. Clouds that are very bright have a lot of
moisture in them that is catching the sunlight and deflecting it back.
This deflection of sunlight, and more importantly the solar radiation, keeps the heat off of the earth.
This breaks up the constant bombarding of heat that comes from the sun that breaks down the
atmosphere. Basically, the more moisture that is up in the clouds, the more that it will cool the
earth. Because green phytoplankton release a chemical that brings more moisture into the clouds,
they help cool the earth by proxy.

Mary Anne Bell of Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong by Tim O Brian It is a well known fact that
experiencing war changes people; there is an innocence that is forever lost. In Tim O Brian s,
Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong , Mary Anne Bell is an unusual example of the innocence that is
lost in war because unlike the rest of the soldiers, she is a woman. Mary Anne s transformation from
innocent sweetheart to fierce warrior left readers with mixed emotions because although Mary
Anne felt at peace with her transformation, she was also disconnected from reality. When Mary
Anne s boyfriend, Mark Fossie, had her smuggled into Vietnam to visit him, she arrived looking like

After joining the Green Berets on night time ambushes, Mary Anne started to look and act more
like a soldier. Mary Anne s appearance started to change, no cosmetics, no fingernail filing. She
stopped wearing jewelry, cut her hair short and wrapped it in a dark green bandana (99), as
though those things were no longer important to her. Her bubbliest seemed to be gone and her
body starts to become harder in places it was once soft, even her once bright blue eyes had
transformed into a bright glowing jungle green (107). Mary Anne starts changing her ideas on her
plans, still wanting to get married but not right away, wanting to live together first and just test it
out and maybe not have three kids (99). At one time, those things were very important to Mary
Anne, Fossie did not understand Mary Anne s transformation. She was like most of the young men
who went off to war in the way that her innocence was dissipating quickly. However, unlike a lot of

25. Desire For Revenge In Fortunato
The act of revenge means to avenge oneself or another by retaliating in kind or degree. Many
people seek revenge for a variety of different reasons. While some situations warrant vengeance,
other times it is unnecessary or goes too far. Every person is not the same, so it varies from person
to person what initiates the want for revenge. In The Cask of Amontilladoby Edgar Allen Poe,
Fortunato wrongs his friend Montresor, the protagonist. Although what Fortunato does is unknown,
Montresor seeks extreme revenge. Montresor completely blindsides Fortunato by doing this as he
did not know he was in the wrong. A character analysis of Montresor reveals the theme of desire for
revenge through exploitation of Fortunato.

When Montresor first meets Fortunato at the carnival, Fortunato is already noticeably tipsy.
Morsberger states, To accomplish it, Montresor waits until carnival season, a time of supreme
madness, when Fortunato, already half drunk and costumed as a jester, is particularly vulnerable.
After convincing Fortunato to come back his vault, Montresor does not stop him from drinking.
Montresor continues to encourage Fortunato to drink more as they are walking through the
catacombs. This continues to happen as they approach the vault. Montresor encourages Fortunato
by saying, But first, another draught of the Medoc (Poe). Fortunato s drunkenness allows Montresor
to easily manipulate him as he has no indication of what is happening. Without being under the
influence, Montresor knows his task would be much more difficult. By getting him drunk,
Montresor is able to get him to do exactly what he wants. This makes the task of killing him almost
effortless for Montresor. When Fortunato goes to search for the stored wine, Montresor suddenly
chains him and traps him to the wall. In his article, Method to the Madness, Mcgrath explains, As

26. Advantages Of Trade And Specialization
Before the industrial revolution, most economic growth came from trade and specialization rather
than technological growth. But trade had its advantages and its disadvantages. In pre modern
trade, the major defect was the principal agent problem, and this problem would prevent any rise
of trade, but since early, people could manage to find some ways to deal with the principal agent
problem in order to exchange goods and services and to trigger economic growth.
In pre modern era, some societies started getting benefits from long distance trade and
specialization rather than technological change. Trade was encouraged by the similarities such as
religion, currency and language in addition to proximity of societies. Due to a lack in a proper legal
system and contract enforcement, principal agent problems were significant but societies always
found indirect rules and informal mechanisms, in order to continue exchanging goods and services.

27. A Worn Path By Eudora Welty
In the short story A Worn Path, the author, Eudora Welty uses mythical, religious, and spiritual
symbols as well as the setting to help the reader understand an old African American woman s life.
Welty also uses the symbolism to represent the hardships old woman has faced during the old
woman s life. The old African American woman s name is Phoenix and is on a journey to town as
the readers are taken on journey through her life. Welty also uses fine details and sentence structure
in addition to the symbolism and setting to increase the understanding of her story or change the
meaning an object.
Welty uses to symbolism of two mythical creatures to represent a theme in short story, A Worn Path
.
During the walk Phoenix recounts seeing a two headed snake (Welty 481). Snakes are used to
symbolize a wide variety of ideas both in literature and mythology. For example the Quetzalcoatl is
a feathered serpent which symbolizes rebirth for some myths of Ancient Mexico and
Mesoamerica (Mursell). Just like the Ancients, Welty uses a snake to represent rebirth in her
story as well but her s is two headed. Welty uses each head to symbolize one of Phoenix s desires.
The first head symbolizes Phoenix s desire to hold on to objects or to habits like trip to town.
While the second head represents Phoenix s desire to be with her grandson. Since Phoenix has two
different desires she cannot be reborn until those desires become one.

Diffusion and Osmosis Shown In Solutions
Section 1: Abstract
This lab, title Diffusion and Osmosis, was centered around the diffusion across a cellular membrane
and how exactly materials move and diffuse in concentrations. Both diffusion and osmosis are forms
of movement that are part of passive transport dealing with cell membranes. Diffusion is where the
solutes move from an area of high concentration to a low concentration. Water goes through the cell
membranes by diffusion. Osmosis is specifically the movement of water through membranes. Since
osmosis and diffusion are both part of passive transport, this means that they do not require energy
or pumps. There are different environments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I took the five dialysis tubings which were acting as cells and filled them with 10 mL of each
solution. We knotted each end but made sure to leave enough space at the top for water to
diffuse in the cell. The initial weight was taken and recorded in a data table. The five cells were
placed in a beaker filled with water for 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes, the cells were weighed,
and the final weight was recorded in the data table, and then the percent change was calculated. The
materials used in this procedure were beakers, water, sucrose, glucose, NaCl, ovalbumin, 20 cm
long dialysis tubing and balances.
In the inquiry, I predicted that the blue solution was water and that it would have an isotonic
environment, meaning there would be no percent change.I first cut the potatoes into
6 cylinders of the same size by using a cork. I got six beakers and filled each with 20 mL of the
different color coated solutions with different concentrations (orange, red, yellow, green, blue
purple). The initial mass of each potato cylinder was taken before placing in the solution. I placed
the potatoes in the appropriate labeled beaker (1 6) of each solution and let them sit there for 30
minutes. After the 30 minutes, I took the final mass of each cylinder and calculated the percent
change in mass. The materials that were used in the inquiry were potatoes, corks, pipettes, balances,

the ratios for secondary schools in 1990 was 0.43 and rose to 0.82 in 2005.9 The ratio for tertiary

Rachel Smith We Were Soldiers Film Analysis The film We Were Soldiers depicts the 1965
Battle of Ia Drang in Vietnam. The film follows Lt. Col. Harold Moore and his men as they are
send to fight at the first major American battle in Vietnam. The film also shows the impact this
battle had on the home front and showed how the war impacted the soldier s wives waiting at
home. The dramatization attempts to show how the Americans were introduced to the Vietnam War
and how they fought viciously against an elusive, dedicated enemy. Director Randall Wallace uses
the film to point out characteristics of the Vietnam War. One thing he tries to focus on is that fact
that the United States did not realize the magnitude of the fight they were about to join. When they
are first dropped in to the Ia Drang valley they capture the NVA lookout and ask him where his
men are. They are shocked to learn that there are 4,000 NVA soldiers waiting for them in the
mountains. The lookout also tells them that, It s same army that destroyed French. They want to
kill Americans very badly... but they have not been able to find any yet. This quote shows that the
NVA Army has been fighting for much longer and are more invested in the fight than the Americans
were, something that was not clear to the original American troops. There are also specific
characteristic that the film tried to point out about Americas war in Vietnam. One thing he tried to

The name, American Society, represents a society that many believed was shaped by America
itself. However, Puritanism shaped America s ethical and political views, and the Great Awaken

shape the time prior to the Civil War, but shaped America for times to come. Puritans did a variety
of things for America, other than make people of this age think they re some Pharisees or some

and author Wendy Lower, and published in October 2013. It focuses on the role of German
women in the Nazi genocide and informs people of the female brutality of Nazi women. It
contains specific accounts of German women from multiple professioned who witnessed and
took part in the Nazi s need to fulfill Hitler s prophecy. Lower uses post Soviet documents, field
studies, and interviews with witnesses to explore the participation of women. This source may
prove valuable by challenging the beliefs that German women under the Third Reich were
victimized on the home front. It gives historians a perspective that German men and women were
more alike than different by playing a much more active role than just massive complicity in the
spread of Nazi ideology. However, this source is limited as the author relies heavily on her own

Influence of Religion on Society during the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Centuries
The undeniable power, force, and influence of religion stand out throughout history. However,
according to J. Michael Allen and James B. Allen in World History from 1500, in the fifteenth and
sixteenth centuries, religion was exceptionally important, because it had a great influence on
everything from government to social order and family relationships (16). Hundreds of years may
separate these two time periods and the modern world, but the same positive effects of religion
such as unity, security, and a social order are still basic ideals in today s world. This is also true
for the negative effects such as the conflicts that result in war and ... Show more content on

With this sense of security and belonging felt throughout the community, people felt united,
especially as Joan was able to mobilize them to fight For God and for France. They shared
common interests and common goals in living a religious lifestyle as dictated by their religion
whenever possible. In fact, one of Christopher Columbus s motives for sailing westward to India
was to open up opportunities to take the Christian gospel to the heathen (Allen Allen 23). Religion
also brought a new structure to households. Elders were not only parents, but they also became
teachers and role models for their children (12). This became obvious in the movie Joan of Arc,
where the majority of dinner conversations related to their religious beliefs, as it was important to
pass on the importance and need for religion to the future generations. Unity was a very powerful
tool during this time period because power came in numbers. This was obvious when Joan gathered
the community and convinced the people to defend their beliefs and fight back against the English.
Since the people were united in their faith, it was much easier to defend their territories and beliefs.
Thus, religion had tremendous positive effects.
On the other hand, this new feeling of expansion, security, hope, and unity were the constant
conflicts of opposing beliefs and struggles. For instance, although there were many

44. The Madonn An Ultimate Symbol Of Power
The Madonna: An Ultimate Symbol of Power In Rogier van der Weyden s the Madonna, Mary is
portrayed as a powerful but matronly figure. Mary was hand picked by God to carry the savior,
Jesus. By doing this, God shows his trust in Mary s power to overcome the worldly views of
conception before marriage. Not only was Mary powerful enough to give birth to Jesus, she was
brave enough to take on the daunting task. Mary set an example of the power and internal strength
women possess, and Rogier van der Wyden captured that perfectly in his painting the Madonna.
In the Madonna, Mary is standing tall and proud while breastfeeding the baby Jesus. Her face
shows the glow of a proud mother and confident woman. Mary not only shows power by bringing
life into this world, but also by continuing to feed and nurture Jesus. A woman has the gift to bring
new life into the world, and to keep that being healthy by feeding them from her own body. This
work of art perfectly exemplifies all of the different aspects of what a woman contributes to the
human life.
Rogier van der Weyden used key details to show the importance of the two figures in this
painting. He covered Mary with in a long royal colored sheet that those of great prominence
would wear. On top of the royal color clothing, Mary has a crown on her head. He made her long
tamed curls a rich and vibrant color that gives the painting life and excitement. As for the baby
Jesus, Rogier painted him wrapped in a white cloth as a symbol of his

49. Difference Between Deep Ecology And Western Worldview
Every person has a different way of viewing the world that is based on what a our simple beliefs
are and with our basic beliefs and values. We are able to make sense of the world and to gain an
understanding of knowing where our place and purpose in the world, through this we are able to
choose between the behaviours of right and wrong. This is called the western worldview, where
we have an understanding of being placed in the world that is based on human dominance over
nature, the restricted use of natual resources, and increased economic growth to manage an
expanding industrial base (Linda R. Berg, 2008 ).
Western Worldviews on the Environment
When it comes to the environmental beliefs there two main worldviews, the Western worldview
and the deep ecology worldview. Although both of these worldviews are broad generalizations
(Linda R. Berg, 2008 ) they are at opposite ends of a range of different worldviews that are related

understanding of knowing where we stand as humans in the world alongside nature and spiritual

extreme shift in how humankind can relate themselves to the environment (Linda R. Berg, 2008 ,
p. 32). Deep ecology expressess that humans are no different to other species on the earth and that
everything that breaths life have the right to exist. It challenges individuals and cultures to share the
same inner spirituality that is connected to the natural world, but many people in this day in age
have not embraced the Western worldview or the deep ecology

getting the proper diagnosis and treatment for ODD. Loeber, Burke, and Pardini reported in
clinical groups among children, ODD is listed as one of the most commonly known behavioral
disorders (as cited in Kazdin, 1995). Stringaris and Goodman (2009) found ODD is apparently

Boylan, Vaillancourt, Boyle, and Szatmari (2007) said of the generally widespread disorders,
oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) is among the most common in childhood. Oppositional
behaviors have a tendency to weaken as children grow up, these behaviors are demonstrated by
the majority of children at an early age sometimes progressing into the predictable fits of temper
and violent behaviors (Mireault, Rooney, Kouwenhoven, and Hannan, 2008). The Diagnostic and
Statistical Manuel of Mental Disorders (DSM) defines ODD as a model of childhood manners
that are harsh, critical, hurtful and uncooperative for at least six months and these manners are
serious enough that the conduct messes up the child s performance on a regular basis. The DSM
III launched ODD as an isolated analysis (as cited in APA, 1980).
The (Pardini, Frick, and Moffitt, 2010) diagnosis of ODD corresponds to a continual pattern of
antisocial, hostile, defiant, and disobedient behaviors toward others (as cited in APA, 2000). As
a (Joyce and Oakland, 2005) collective group between 2% and 16% of children have a diagnosis

(Joyce and Goodman, 2005). The (Pardini et al., 2010) original diagnosis of ODD requires

There have been many attempts to understand the world we live in, ranging from studies of

whole universe. Being focused on only what can be observed, it had been thought that the universe

During the 1970s, dark matter had been discovered accidentally by astronomers Vera Rubin and
Kent Ford, they were observing galaxies and they noticed that stars far from the galaxy centre
had a velocity similar to the celestial objects closer in. The observation was unexpected due to
the visible mass of galaxies lacking the required gravity to keep the further stars in the orbit,
therefore the astronomers were faced with a missing mass problem and the concept of dark
matter had been created (16). The main problem with dark matter is that we can t observe it
directly, we must indirectly study its interaction with normal matter to be learn more about it
(17). There may be a misconception between what is observed and what is known to be there,
for example; if a man is floating mid air, due to the fact that humans are unable to fly; it can be
concluded that there must be something holding the man up there (2). In 1997, Hubble Space
Telescope revealed light from far galaxies bent due a mass of 250 times greater than the visible
mass which that scientists believe dark matter is the reason for (18). Also, NASA s Chandra X ray
observatory had been used by astronomers to measure the allocation of dark matter in an immense
constellation of galaxies located around a billion light year from earth, the cluster is engulfed by a
significant amount of clouds of hot gas, from the observation it had been found that the amount of
dark matter is a hundred trillion more than the mass of the sun which held the cluster of gravities

United States history. While this seems to be an over sensationalized statement, analyzing the
dispute system design, cross cultural negotiation, and resistance points of the deal, may shed further
insight on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and how the United States resolves conflict with
Middle Eastern nations.
Historical Context
The relations between the United State s and Iran were amicable throughout the post World War II.
In entering the Cold War, the United States negotiated the Baghdad Pact in which an alliance
between, Iran, Iraq, and Pakistan was formed. During this era, President Nixon encouraged the
Shah of Iran to develop a nuclear program and provided the funding to Iran s energy sector. The
United States maintained a close partnership with Iran until, the Islamic Revolution in February of
1979. The revolution overthrew the Shah of Iran and Ruhollah Khomeini became the new supreme
leader of Iran. Immediately following the revolution, Iran engaged in a war against Iraq in the
early 1980s. With a new balance of power, tensions grew between the U.S. and Iran. During this

54. Estuarine Pollution in Eutrophicatin
Rivers and estuaries have been useful to human beings more than just as a water source. They have
been the centre of interest of frontier settlement, which leads to more human activities and wastes,
which leads to dumping rubbish into the most convenient place the waterways. What becomes a
problem is that more and more toxic chemicals are being dumped to a point that the waterways
could no longer filter it. One of the problems that is becoming a global crisis is eutrophication.
Therefore, this paper will be talking about the estuarine pollution, specifically on eutrophication,
starting with the source and type of the pollutants, how it affects the estuaries and the management
of the pollution.
Eutrophication happens as the water ecosystem becomes more productive due to increasing
primary productivity in the estuary. This happens because of the excessive nutrient enrichment
which will cause frequent cyanobacteria blooms (Wang and Wang, 2009). The excess nutrients
could come from different sources, including stormwater drainage, waste discharges from industrial
areas, and runoffs from agricultural farm. According to United States Environmental Protection
Agency, the stormwater can pick up debris and chemicals straight from the streets into the rivers
and estuaries. Consequently, it also drags the excess nutrients when it is discharged from the storm
sewer system. Not only that, the stormwater can also drag nutrients and pathogens form leaking and

Patenting Genes of Organism
The advancement of technology has lead to many scientists conducting more experiments with
gene modification. This has lead to scientists to isolate certain genes that may cause a certain
disease, thus modified genes may change the organism in a particular way. It may help farmers
with crop cultivation and reduce crop infestation. It may also help farmers to be able to cultivated
crops or keep animals that are prawn to drought resistance. Before, I go in details explain the
importance of why businesses that develop modified organisms should be able to preserve their
property rights by patenting such organisms or why such organism should not be patentable. I
would like to briefly explain the history of patenting. For over two hundred years living organisms
have been excluded from patent laws; life forms were considered a product of nature and not a
human invention. The non patentable status of living organisms changed with the 1980 landmark
Supreme Court case Diamond v. Chakrabarty, (W3 Unisa, 2005). The court decided in a narrow 5
4 decision that a strain of bacteria that had been modified by the insertion of new genes was
patentable because it was not naturally occurring. The foreign genes gave the bacteria the ability to
break down hydrocarbons, and its inventors hoped it might be useful for cleaning up oil spills.
Historically, patents were initially developed to insure and protect inventors and to make sure that
