 Suffer less from stress and anxiety
 Concentrate better
 Show more self-confidence
 Perform better
 Are happier and more satisfied

A goal is a
specific objective
you and your
team must
achieve.
A plan is a
blueprint of
achieving these
goals

4. Goals are SMART!
Specific: clearly states what must happen
Measurable: results can be easily validated
Action-oriented: it begins with the word ‘to’
Realistic: it’s challenging, yet practical and achievable
Time-bounded: it contains timetable for achievement

Examples:
• My goal is to complete the Competent Communicator by end of June 2015.
This means I have to do 6 speeches in the next 8 weeks.
• My goal is to finish the Competent Leader by end of June 2015. This means I
have to sign up for roles, participate, and keep track of my roles for the next 10
weeks.
• My goal is lose 10 pounds in 2015. This means I have to exercise daily and eat
healthy.
• My goal is to get a new job before August 2015. This means I have to dedicate
my time to searching, networking, and applying for open positions.
