2. OBJECTIVES
This workshop / activity aims to achieve the
following objectives:
a. Create an effective work plan
/action plan;
b. Keep updated on making action
plan and inspire teachers to become
better;
c. Build connections among
colleagues through this collaborative
workshop.
3. All schools have to
prepare an action/work
plan. An action plan
can help you create a
clear path for reaching
them.
4. What is an action plan and why is
it important?
Action plans are outlines of the steps
you need to take to accomplish a
specific goal. They create a timeline
and develop a list of actionable tasks,
which is why they are used by a
variety of individuals and
organizations that are hoping to
achieve a goal.
5. Action plans offer a number of benefits. For
example, they can:
Provide clarity and direction.
Help you prepare for potential obstacles.
Make monitoring progress easier and more
efficient, allowing you to keep the process
within budget and on schedule.
Boost the commitment, motivation, and overall
productivity of yourself and/or your team by
keeping you focused on the goal ahead.
Allow you to appropriately prioritize certain
tasks.
6. How to write an action plan
When writing an action plan to achieve a particular
goal or outcome, you can get much help from the
following steps.
Clarify your goal. Can you get a visual picture
of the expected outcome? How can you see if you
have reached your destination? What does make
your goal measurable? What constraints do you
have, like the limits on time, money, or other
resources.
7. Using the SMART method allows you to fully realize
your goals by making sure your objective is:
•Specific: Make sure your goal is clear and narrow.
•Measurable: You need to define the evidence there
will be that you are making progress toward your
goal.
•Attainable: Your goal needs to be reasonable,
meaning you need to be realistic about whether you
can actually accomplish it within your desired
timeframe.
•Relevant: Make sure that your objective aligns with
your long-term goals and values.
•Time-based: Set a realistic yet ambitious deadline
for accomplishing your goal.
8. Write a list of actions. Write down all actions you
may need to take to achieve your goal. At this step focus
on generating and writing as many different options and
ideas as possible. Take a sheet of paper and write more
and more ideas, just as they come to your mind. While
you are doing this, try not to judge or analyze.
Analyze, prioritize, and prune. Look at your list of
actions. What are the absolutely necessary and effective
steps to achieve your goal? Mark them somehow. After
that, what action items can be dropped from in the plan
without significant consequences for the outcome. Cross
them out.
9. Organize your list into a plan. Decide on the order
of your action steps. Start from looking at your marked key
actions. For each action, what other steps should be
completed before that action? Rearrange your actions and
ideas into a sequence of ordered action steps. Finally, look
at your plan once again. Are there any ways to simplify it
even more?
Monitor the execution of your plan and review
the plan regularly. How much have you progressed
towards your goal by now? What new information you have
got? Use this information to further adjust and optimize your
plan.
