A Gantt chart is a bar chart used in project management to visually display project activities, tasks, and events against time. It was designed by Henry Gantt in the early 20th century and became widely used during World War I to schedule and coordinate large and complex projects. An example Gantt chart shows the start and end dates as well as duration of individual construction tasks in a simple project schedule.
