This document discusses the School of Social Work and Human Services' efforts to enhance students' international field placement experiences. It outlines why international placements were pursued, how the program was started by gaining approval and contacts abroad, and the hurdles of ensuring quality, managing risk, and maintaining responsibilities. Students must apply and be interviewed, and are sent to placements in India, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka where they contribute to research projects. The program has been a success, receiving funding and positive student feedback about solidifying their learning and skills in an international context.
