Today, occupational accidents are considered among the potential threats because of their serious humanitarian, economic, social, and environmental consequences. Occupational accidents and injuries are the third cause of mortality in world and the second one in Iran. In addition, the economic and environmental damages of occupational accidents are catastrophic too.According to International Labor Organization (ILO) report in 1999 the average estimated fatal occupational accident rate was 140/100 000 workers and the number of fatal accidents was 335000. Though the registered number of accidents in Iran cannot be a faultless account of all the accidents happened, but in 2000, about 12000 work related accidents have been registered by the Department of Social Security. Calculations indicated that approximately 345000 fatal occupational accidents occurred in 1998 and that over 260 million occupational accidents causing at least 3 days absence happened in the same year. This work aims to study the relation of occupational stress of workers and the accidents in a rice milling industry. The data was collected using questionnaire. The questionnaire contained 30 questions to measure the perception s of the employees about the management practices. A five point likert scale was used. This was prepared based on review of related literature .The contents of this draft questionnaire were discussed with senior safety professional in the industry. Data was analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 20 software. Descriptive statistics and correlations of the studied variables were first analyzed. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to verify the reliability of the management practices. Regression analysis was conducted to test the goodness of fit of the various models. Keywords - industrial safety, occupational stress, accidents, factor analysis

Health and Safety in the Construction Industry in Catanduanes, PhilippinesDr. Amarjeet Singh
The Island Province of Catanduanes is gaining grounds in the field of construction. The program of the current administration “Build, Build, Build” have taken the construction industry to full blast. Construction, both private and public are evident on every corners of the island. Occupational Safety and Health in construction is often neglected and disregarded. Construction is the one of the most dangerous sectors in health and safety. The government, thru the Department of Labor and Employment had already address the problem by providing safety and health training to the personnel of the construction firm as well as the industry as a whole. But the effort has been far from satisfactory, as construction accident continue to dominate the entire industry. The study aims to awareness of construction safety in Catanduanes. The study focuses on the awareness of workers in construction industry in Catanduanes on Occupational Safety and Health. From the series of interviews and interaction with the workers on site, and upon evaluation of their responses, the researcher finally come up with the conclusion that, the construction workers are aware of the safety and health in constructions but they do not adhere and follow it. Workers admittedly that the reason they are complaisant about following safety and health practices are discomfort, beliefs, and bad habits. The following recommendation were sought based on the results of the interview; 1. Workers must attend or be trained with safety and health. A training that would enable them to understand the safety and health issues and concerns, 2. Workers must be taught with correct attitude towards safety in workplace, 3. They must taught of right things contrary to their old beliefs, 4. Workers must developed good habit and positive outlook in terms of their safety and well-being.
Enabling Indian manufacturing MSMEs for global competitivenessIET India
The COVID-19 pandemic has been a watershed moment for businesses globally. While the scenario looks gloomy all around, there are significant local and global factors that may prove to be favourable for FDI in manufacturing, especially in the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in India.
Post the lethal impact of COVID-19, more and more manufacturing companies are looking towards India as an investment destination and as a reliable alternative to other low-cost producer countries. This will benefit the growth of established firms/sectors, providing significant new prospects for Indian MSMEs to step up and move to the next level. However, it is important to be cognisant of the fact that in order to successfully grab these opportunities, there needs to be a serious rethink of existing business models.
This paper focuses on the opportunities available, scope for improvement, and solutions to varied challenges for the MSME sector in India.

2018 Cross-Border Data Flows: A Review of the Regulatory Enablers, Blockers, ...accacloud
Access to data represents a huge potential in terms of potential economic growth and social enablement opportunities. It is not surprising then, that many governments are setting forth ‘digital economy’ agendas, including policy and regulatory frameworks, to ensure they maximize participation and opportunity. However, such a cross-cutting agenda is not without its challenges. Regulations put in place to enable or protect one part of the economy can damage growth in neighboring sectors or industries, often unintentionally. This research report takes an investigative look at the way five Asian economies—India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, and Vietnam—are aggressively transitioning to more digitally enabled economies.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.

Hybrid optimization of pumped hydro system and solar- Engr. Abdul-Azeez.pdffxintegritypublishin
Advancements in technology unveil a myriad of electrical and electronic breakthroughs geared towards efficiently harnessing limited resources to meet human energy demands. The optimization of hybrid solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems plays a pivotal role in utilizing natural resources effectively. This initiative not only benefits humanity but also fosters environmental sustainability. The study investigated the design optimization of these hybrid systems, focusing on understanding solar radiation patterns, identifying geographical influences on solar radiation, formulating a mathematical model for system optimization, and determining the optimal configuration of PV panels and pumped hydro storage. Through a comparative analysis approach and eight weeks of data collection, the study addressed key research questions related to solar radiation patterns and optimal system design. The findings highlighted regions with heightened solar radiation levels, showcasing substantial potential for power generation and emphasizing the system's efficiency. Optimizing system design significantly boosted power generation, promoted renewable energy utilization, and enhanced energy storage capacity. The study underscored the benefits of optimizing hybrid solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems for sustainable energy usage. Optimizing the design of solar PV panels and pumped hydro energy supply systems as examined across diverse climatic conditions in a developing country, not only enhances power generation but also improves the integration of renewable energy sources and boosts energy storage capacities, particularly beneficial for less economically prosperous regions. Additionally, the study provides valuable insights for advancing energy research in economically viable areas. Recommendations included conducting site-specific assessments, utilizing advanced modeling tools, implementing regular maintenance protocols, and enhancing communication among system components.

7. Procedure for Foreign Companies to Start a Business
in India
Strategy for entry into India for Foreign Businesses
There are majorly two types of entry strategies for foreign businesses in India.
The first step is to register a Private Limited Company which is considered
to be the easiest and fastest way of entry in India for foreign nationals and
also for foreign companies.
Secondly, one can opt to register branch office, project office or liaison
office which necessarily requires RBI and/or Government approval.
Therefore the cost and the time which is required for the registration of
a branch office, project office or liaison office is certainly higher than the
time and cost attached to the incorporation of a private limited company.
Baskaran S (Bannari Amman Institute of Technology) UNIT-V GLOBAL ISSUES 20/02/2018 7 / 35
8. Mandatory requirements for the establishment of a
Company in India
In order to start a company in India, a minimum of two individuals and
an address is required in India. If we are talking about a private limited
company, it should have at least two directors (individuals) and a minimum
of two shareholders (can be individuals or even corporate entities).
Furthermore, one of the Director of the Company must be an Indian Citizen
and also an Indian Resident (any individual who has continuously stayed
in the country of India for over 186 days).
There are no such rule of minimum shareholding of the Indian Director.
So, the foreign nationals or entities can hold 100% of the shares
It is mandatory to have an address in India which can be served as the
registered office address of the company.
Baskaran S (Bannari Amman Institute of Technology) UNIT-V GLOBAL ISSUES 20/02/2018 8 / 35
9. Mandatory documents required for Company
Registration in India
In order to register a company in India, the foreign nationals are supposed
to submit a copy of their passport along with an address proof (Drivers
License, Bank Statement etc.
In case a corporate entity is aiming to become a shareholder in the Indian
Company then the Board Resolution from the foreign company should au-
thorize the investment in the Indian Company.
This is to be noted that the presence of any of the foreign Directors is not
mandatorily required in India at the time of incorporation in India. Thus,
the foreign nationals have the flexibility of establishing and operating a
business in India without even travelling to India.

16. International Rights
MNCs do business in other countries which are culturally and economically
different in order to ensure minimum human rights are met
The right to freedom of physical movement.
The right to ownership of property.
The right to freedom from torture.
The right to a fair trial
The right to nondiscriminatory treatment (freedom from discrimination on
the basis of such characteristics as race or sex).
The right to physical security.(physical security requires supplying
protective goggles to workers running metal lathes, even when this is not
required by the laws of the host country.)
The right to freedom of speech and association.
The right to minimal education.
The right to political participation.
The right to subsistence.
Baskaran S (Bannari Amman Institute of Technology) UNIT-V GLOBAL ISSUES 20/02/2018 12 / 35
17. ⇒ How multinational corporations can act in other societies, even when those
societies do not recognize the rights in their laws and customs. For example,
the right to nondiscriminatory treatment would make it wrong for corporations to
participate in discrimination against women and racial minorities even though
this may be a dominant custom in the host country.
⇒Workers in less economically developed countries are often willing to take
greater risks than would be acceptable to workers in the United States.
Baskaran S (Bannari Amman Institute of Technology) UNIT-V GLOBAL ISSUES 20/02/2018 13 / 35
18. Promoting morally just measures
Activities of multinational corporations benefit the host countries in which
they do business
The business activities of multinational corporations must do more overall
good than bad, which means helping the country’s overall economy and
its workers,In the spirit of utilitarianism, which calls for promoting the most
good for the most people
Even when the workers are working in less safer environment when com-
pared to USA. Under the right of informed consent workers must be in-
formed in language they can understand, of the dangers
Workers may be so desperate for income to feed their families that they
will work under almost any conditions. Corporations must eliminate great
risks when they can while still making a reasonable profit. They must also
pay workers for the extra risks they undertake. Exactly what this means is
a matter of morally good judgment and negotiation.

43. Why So?
ENGINEERS
Focus Technical/scientific tasks
Decision Making with great
certainty using adequate technical
information
Perform individual tasks
Work Output is Quantitative,
measurable
Rely on technical expertise and
personal dedication
MANAGERS
Focus People (talents, innovation,
relationships) projects (tasks, pro-
cedure, policy)
Fuzzy information under uncer-
tainty (people’s behavior, customer
needs, market forecasts)
Direct work of others (planning,
leading,organizing, controlling)
Qualitative, less measurable, ex-
cept financial results, when appli-
cable
Rely on interpersonal skills to get
work done through people (motiva-
tion, delegation)

45. Engineers as expert witnesses and advisors
At some stage in Engineers career he/she may be required to give evi-
dence in court as an Expert Witness.
An expert may be defined as a person whose qualifications or expertise
give an added authority to opinions or statements given or made by him
within his area of expertise
Report or reports or statement from accountants, actuaries, architects,
dentists, doctors, engineers, occupational therapists, psychologists, psy-
chiatrists, scientists, or any other expert whatsoever intended to be called
to give evidence in relation to an issue in the action
Some of the incidents that an engineering expert witness investigates for
clients include train and automotive engineering defects as well as con-
struction equipment accidents

47. Moral leadership
A leader, by definition, is one who guides, who shows the way by example.
A leader, if he is to be effective, must have the ability to persuade others.
If there is no persuasion, there simply is no leadership.
In order to be able to persuade others to follow a course of action, a leader
must have personal integrity. If a man cannot be trusted, he cannot lead,
for the populous will not be guided by someone in whom they have no
confidence.
Moral Leadership is a very different kind of leadership. Rather than aspir-
ing to being followed, Moral Leaders aim to serve. Instead of showcasing
their own skills, Moral Leaders tend to develop the capacities in others.
Moral leadership is not about telling the stakeholders that you have deliv-
ered the best results. It is about looking at yourself in the mirror and being
able to tell yourself that you have done the right thing.
