Online donations through GivingFirst.org grew 30% from 2008 to 2009, totaling over $680,000 from more than 3,000 donors. While individual gifts decreased from $100 on average in 2008 to $50 in 2009, more donors and gifts were received. The majority (58%) of donations in 2009 came during the holiday season. Interest in recurring donations is increasing for both donors and nonprofits. The report predicts that online giving will continue growing as donors recognize its ease and nonprofits promote it.
