The holidays are always a great time for giving
thanks. Sharing gifts with each other, helping others
makes your relationships better. In Canada, people
give charities to many trusts for Holiday Giving.
Just be sure about the charity trusts and the causes
for which you are raising funds in the year end
fundraising events. Here we represent some
guidelines and interesting facts for Holiday Giving.
Five years ago, two enterprising organizations – New York City’s 92nd
Street Y community and cultural center and the United Nations
Foundation – joined forces to create an event to kick off the charitable
holiday giving season and Giving Tuesday was born.
Since then, Giving Tuesday has been celebrating philanthropy and
charitable giving.
Last year, this widely supported and nationally recognized day of giving
raised an estimated $117 million, according to Reuters.
When Did It All Begin?
Giving Around the Holidays
During the year end people are more encouraged for the donations so
encourage them to help for the causes.
According to a study in 2007, The
Center on Philanthropy (COP) at
Indiana University found that their
respondents reported giving about
24 percent of their annual total
between Thanksgiving and New
Year's Day. Also they found that
42.7 percent of those surveyed
gave more during the holidays than
the rest of the year; 44.4 percent
reported giving "about the same."
According to the Winter 2011 issue
of the Nonprofit Fundraising
Survey, over half of the nonprofit
organizations queried reported
that they received over a quarter
of their contributions between
October and December, with 16
percent of all organizations
receiving over half their year’s
total contributions during those
same months.

According to a recent report by the Charities Aid Foundation, 61% of
Americans said they volunteered to a charity organization in 2014
which made the U.S. second most generous nation in a global survey
involving 145 countries.

Holiday Email Adds a Big Boost to
Year-Round Growth
Participating parishes saw a sustained increase in giving, growing by
more than 9 percent on average over the following six months. That
is nearly five times faster than the parishes that did not send an email.
• 750 new donors responded to the call to give online.
• Participating parishes saw a 323 percent increase in online Easter
donations.
• A single parish signed up 57 new donors with one email.
Communicating regularly is one of the most effective ways to raise
more for your organization, and never is that more true than ahead of
major holidays like Christmas and Easter. All you have to do is ask.

increase as more and more donors
and non-profit organizations
become comfortable with electronic
giving options such as online giving,
mobile giving and text-to-give:
• Online Giving – Online giving has
grown 11.8 percent year-over-year,
while overall giving has grown only
3.8 percent.
• Mobile Giving – According to a 2013
Google/Compete study, 25 percent
of donors report that they donated
on a mobile device, with almost half
doing so through a mobile browser.
• Text-to-Give – Nearly one-in-ten
Americans has made a donation via
text message, according to Pew.

  • 2. The holidays are always a great time for giving thanks. Sharing gifts with each other, helping others makes your relationships better. In Canada, people give charities to many trusts for Holiday Giving. Just be sure about the charity trusts and the causes for which you are raising funds in the year end fundraising events. Here we represent some guidelines and interesting facts for Holiday Giving.

Five years ago, two enterprising organizations – New York City’s 92nd Street Y community and cultural center and the United Nations Foundation – joined forces to create an event to kick off the charitable holiday giving season and Giving Tuesday was born. Since then, Giving Tuesday has been celebrating philanthropy and charitable giving. Last year, this widely supported and nationally recognized day of giving raised an estimated $117 million, according to Reuters. When Did It All Begin?
  • 4. Giving Around the Holidays During the year end people are more encouraged for the donations so encourage them to help for the causes. According to a study in 2007, The Center on Philanthropy (COP) at Indiana University found that their respondents reported giving about 24 percent of their annual total between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day. Also they found that 42.7 percent of those surveyed gave more during the holidays than the rest of the year; 44.4 percent reported giving "about the same."

According to the Winter 2011 issue of the Nonprofit Fundraising Survey, over half of the nonprofit organizations queried reported that they received over a quarter of their contributions between October and December, with 16 percent of all organizations receiving over half their year’s total contributions during those same months.   • 9. Holiday Email Adds a Big Boost to Year-Round Growth Participating parishes saw a sustained increase in giving, growing by more than 9 percent on average over the following six months. That is nearly five times faster than the parishes that did not send an email. • 750 new donors responded to the call to give online. • Participating parishes saw a 323 percent increase in online Easter donations. • A single parish signed up 57 new donors with one email.
  • 10. Communicating regularly is one of the most effective ways to raise more for your organization, and never is that more true than ahead of major holidays like Christmas and Easter. All you have to do is ask.
  • 11. How do Organizations Maximize Donations And Handle the Influx of Transactions And Dollars? The simple answer is that technology must be leveraged. We will continue to see this trend increase as more and more donors and non-profit organizations become comfortable with electronic giving options such as online giving, mobile giving and text-to-give:
  • 12. • Online Giving – Online giving has grown 11.8 percent year-over-year, while overall giving has grown only 3.8 percent. • Mobile Giving – According to a 2013 Google/Compete study, 25 percent of donors report that they donated on a mobile device, with almost half doing so through a mobile browser. • Text-to-Give – Nearly one-in-ten Americans has made a donation via text message, according to Pew.
