German Solar Training Week 2015
From 23 – 26 November 2015, the “renewables – Made in Germany” initiative will facilitate a technical
training programme conducted by reputable German engineering experts in the context of the 2nd
German
Solar Training Week (GSTW) in Kenya. The topics of the GSTW 2015 are Grid-connected PV, PV-Hybrid
Mini-Grids, Battery Storage as well as Monitoring Systems. Participants gain the following benefits by
attending the GSTW:
• Building capacity in technical aspects and related business skills
• Identifying new business partnerships with veteran German companies
• Strengthening existing partnerships with German experts
Participants can attend the whole training week or choose individual days. Participation is free of

General background
The solar market is growing in Kenya with the government making efforts to put strategic policies and
regulations in place, aiming at fostering the use of solar PV. The PV industry experiences a growing demand
in grid-connected PV systems for commercial and industrial segments as well as such for professional off-
grid systems powering industries or remote villages. German companies have gained broad experience in
developing and applying these technologies and engineering services adapted to the Kenyan market.
Key to expansion of these technologies and services in the Kenyan solar market is the capacity
building amongst – and establishment of business partnerships with local solar and power
generation companies as well as the public sector. The German Solar Training Week, organized
within the framework of the “renewables – Made in Germany” initiative, aims at facilitating new
business partnerships and strengthen existing connections.
